Bloody Mary

"Isn't it fun to say my name three times in your mirror? Isn't it fun when I appear?"

0 · 1,171 views · located in The Inner City

a character in “Dystopia”, as played by BOO!

Description

NAME:
Bloody Mary

FAIRYTALE:
A folklore legend

AGE:
25

APPEARANCE:
Image
Always in dark, Gothic dresses/corsets with dark makeup and boots.

SEXUALITY:
Bisexual

BACKSTORY OF FOLKLORE:
In the old ages, the ritual made young women to walk up a flight of stairs backwards while holding a candle and a hand mirror, in a darkened house. As they looked in the mirror, they were supposed to be able to catch a view of their future husband's face. There was, however, a chance that they would see the face of the Grim Reaper, dripping in blood instead, indicating that they were destined to die before they married.

BACKSTORY OF CHARACTER:
Bloody Mary had no childhood that she knew of. She was simply a ghost of some description for a very long time, until her legend became so popular that she was sprung to life. Sick of being summoned, she had started to kill those who completed the ritual. Usually she would slit their neck, but as time went by she had gotten more creative, even hanging some or leaving decapitated parts of their body along with messages. She was invited, by The Red Queen of Wonderland, to a mental institution. She went, out of curiosity. They locked her away, the scientists, playing test upon test upon her brain and heart. Betrayed, hurt, confused and very, very angry, she escaped. Not before gruesomely killing the scientist she recognized as the one who gave the orders, hanging him from the ceiling by his feet with a slit neck, but only enough to bleed and not to kill. The man died of blood loss, hanging upside down for a good few hours . She was then invited to join the inner city, by none other than Dick Whittington. She obliged, seeing it as an opportunity to kill more. She realised soon after, however, that it was a town of legends. She didn't mind at all. In fact, she appreciated the somewhat like-minded company. For introducing her here, she was grateful to Dick, but she would never tell him that.

LOCATION:
A rundown apartment on the outskirts of the city.

PERSONALITY:
A mystery to most, she used to be a hopeless romantic. Kind and courteous. Many wonder what happened to her, as her heart blackened and she became cruel and vindictive. Jealous and stubborn, Mary is very sarcastic. Getting close to her is extremely difficult, but if managed, you may see under the murderous, dark shell.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS:
Single

OTHER:
Theme song (as I know some enjoy knowing such a thing): Can You Feel My Heart by Bring Me The Horizon

So begins...

Mary sat in her room. Alone. She was always alone, of late, and that didn't bother her. No-one visited, called, texted or even just... said hi to her in the street. Everyone knew who she was - and everyone stayed clear. Mary got up from her chair and examined herself in the mirror. Pale white skin and mad black hair with a black, lacy corset and skinny jeans. The combat boots were her best attribute, she had figured, by the fact that they were steel toe capped. She nodded to the mirrored version of herself, shot it a smile and proceeded to walk outside.

It was far too bright for Bloody Mary's liking. She'd always taken to darker places even in the city, but today seemed like a nice day. She wandered around the pretty empty streets of the inner city and had hoped to find the book about herself, and change it.

She stumbled upon the library. Mary slowly walked inside and pressed the bell on the counter.

Belle unlocked the doors to her library with a sigh and stepped in, turning the open sign on for people to see that the library had been open. She smiled softly as she made her way into the back room and began tagging the new books for the library while she waited for readers to stop by. Everything was peaceful and quiet for a couple hours as she made her way down the book aisles and placed the new books upon the shelves where they belonged. The female pulled her long brunette locks up into a ponytail as she began making her way back towards the back room to repeat the cycle.

A couple hours went by as she was all alone in the library after tending to other customers either checking books out, returning them, or buying some that were on sale. There was no sound to be heard until she heard the front desk bell ring which made her jump slightly from being startled. Belle giggled at herself as she lifted herself up from the desk and circled around the building to the front desk.

She was surprised to find that Mary had been standing before her. Of course she heard the many stories about her floating around town and noticed how everyone treated her, but that never mattered to her. Belle always believed that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and that's exactly what she lived by. With a soft smile upon her pale face she stated, "Hello, what may I help you with?"

Mary took a moment to take Belle in properly. She was pale and pretty - a man's perfect dream. Quiet too. Belle hadn't changed too much since they'd come to the city, that's for sure. Always the quiet bookworm. Polite. The perfect librarian.

"Er... Where's the bit on our folklore?" Mary was somewhat happy with Belle's response, as she'd sort of missed seeing people smile at her. She examined some of the other folk in the room. Ichabod Crane was sitting across from the Headless Horseman and Cinderella was browsing a bookcase labeled "Poetry". She turned her attention back to Belle, and smiled somewhat menacingly.

Belle smiled big happy to see that someone was interested in the books about their own kind who weren't the normal people from this city. The brunette began making her way from behind the front desk towards one of the book aisles. "Follow me," she stated as she waved her hand at Mary.

She made her way through the long aisle of shelves and finally stopped towards the back of the building and looked to the left of her. "Everything you need should be there. Is there a certain book you're trying to find?" Belle asked a bit curiously, hoping that she could possibly help her out a bit more. She loved showing that she cared for others, even the ones most of the city never seemed to even notice most of the time.

Mary obliged and followed Belle, scanning books as they passed. Some of them had quite odd names, but she dismissed it as the normal people's books. Story books most likely - they seemed to be obsessed with stories!

"Right at the back, then." Mary chuckled to herself, glancing at the rows of books on folklore. She attempted to see some of the titles from a distance, but sighed and slackened, huffing. "Well, you know who I am, right? I'm looking for my book. I'm sure I can find it. Pretty easy if it's in alphabetical order or... something."

Belle smirked softly and nodded her head at her answer. "Of course I know who you are..." she trailed off down the aisle and found the book exactly where she placed it not too long ago. The brunette lifted the book from the shelf and handed it to her. "Here you go Mary, is there anything else I could help you with?"

Belle glanced around through the book cases to see if she could find her book, now curious about her own story. As long as she had been in this library, she had never thought about reading her own story to see how the normal people interpreted it.

"No, no. You can go and see if anyone else has turned up to gather dust like the books." Mary nodded and flicked through the books. "Oh, wait, I'm going to borrow this. Not for long, only an hour or two? Now you can go." Mary nodded again to Belle, then scanned through the book whilst walking towards the door.

She stood wandered to the local park and lay across a bench, holding the book across her head and ripping pages out. She let the pages fly away and she prepared her pen from her pocket as she began to write her real story on the back.

Belle smiled and gave a polite nod. "Alright, you have a great day Mary," she called out to her as Mary was walking out the door. At that moment she decided that it would be time to read the story about her, to see if everything they put in it was true or made up. Of course she wasn't going to change any of it, she was just highly curious about it.

Belle trailed down the aisle where she led Mary just a few minutes ago and began looking for her book. She found it way down at the bottom of the bookcase, surprisingly covered in dust as if nobody touched it in a few years. She shrugged her shoulders and picked up the book as she blew on the front cover to get the dust off. She coughed a couple times, breathing in the dust by accident.

Phoenix strolled down the street coffee in hand and brightly colors floral dress in toe and red hair practically blazing. The smirk on her face told anyone in site that she was up to no good today but boy was she happy about it. When she saw Bloody Mary she decided to stop for a chat so she fixed her enormous yellow sunglasses and glided over behind bench where Mary was sitting. When she saw that she was writing in a book she looked to see which book it was and smiled, relishing the moment.
"Sucks to have to live by so many rules, doesn't it," hoping to have startled Mary she swung around the back of the bench sitting in it and setting her messenger bag next to her crossing one leg over the other she turned to her companion smiling mischievously.

"I sure hope I'm not intruding on your vandalism," she continued in a seemingly sweet voice, "I'd hate to be the one to ruin the property damage party." she'd take out a red lipstick smoothing it over her lips while watching Bloody Mary from the corner of her eye. "But don't mind me, I'm not here to ruffle your feathers or anything." she draped her arm over the arm rest on the bench leaning back and looking around the park.

Rose nodded her head and slid her pale hands into her red, jacket pockets. "It's alright. If you need me here again at any given point, just give the station a call," the female stated just before making her way back out of the building. She made her way through the parking lot, back towards her police vehicle and climbed inside. After inside the vehicle, the brunette started the engine and began on her way back towards the police station. The town seemed awfully quiet today and she didn't like it one bit, it just wasn't normal for that in Dystopia.

As Rose was driving through town, she happened to notice the woman known as Bloody Mary sitting with a woman she had never seen around town before. Maybe that was what made town seem a bit off more than usual today. The female parked her police vehicle in front of the park and took a sip from her soda before setting it back down into the cup holder. Rose kept her brown hues glued to the two women, but mainly the newcomer.

Mary glanced at the girl out of the corner of her eye. She was ... what seemed like a pretty girl, bright. Very bright. However, Mary couldn't seem to recognize her face. She nodded and listened to the girl - Mary liked the way she talked. A troublemaker. Most probably not to the extremes of herself, but still. "I sure hope I'm not intruding on your vandalism, I'd hate to be the one to ruin the property damage party."

"No, no, not at all! You're free to join me, actually." She ripped out another page from her book and scribbled some more notes into it. She took a moment to examine the girl, seeing if she could figure out who she was. Nothing. Must be a new girl. "But don't mind me, I'm not here to ruffle your feathers or anything."

Mary stopped and lowered the book and pen. She stuffed them into her pocket and leaned back, crossing her legs. Her mind began to wonder why this person had taken the time to talk to her. She was mischievous - Mary could see that. But why? Not many would, and Belle was just polite to everyone. "Who are you? I can't seem to place you." Mary chuckled, facing the girl. "Do you know who I am?"

Scarlet made a face of mock surprise and hurt, though inside she was gloating, " I cannot believe that the infamous Bloody Mary doesn't know who little ol' me is." Her hair seemed to glow an even brighter red just then, "I can't blame you though, being unnoticed has gotten me everywhere." She smoothed out the folds in her pastel pink floral dress, "who I am isn't important right now," she said this in a lower tone keeping her head down, "but I should tell you that we are being watched." Digging around in her messenger bag she pulled out a pack of cigarettes pulling one out and placing it in her mouth lighting it with a simple silver lighter letting out a puff of smoke after a few seconds.

No longer was she playful and malicious but completely turned around to be cool and reserved. She tried keeping her expression normal but couldn't help but feel uncomfortable at the invasion of eyes. She turned to look at Mark taking off her glasses to look directly at her, "to be honest I came here for selfish reasons, I wanted to meet you pure and simple." The truth never came easy to her and this was her first interaction with anyone outside of work in monthes and she didn't appreciate getting noticed.

Wolf waited till Rose was gone, and walked over to Tom.

"alright buddy," he growled while pulling the man to his feet," time for you to get your drunken self outta here."

Tom mumbled something under his breath and stumbled out the door. Wolf sighed and realized his shift was over.

" alright, doc, I'll be going then," he said to the bartender. He really didn't know why he called him doc, it just came naturally. The bartender nodded his head and wolf walked out the door and into his pickup truck. He thought maybe he'd stop by the library and get a few books, since he wouldn't have much else to do that night. He pulled up to the library and walked in.

" hello?" he said, looking for someone, anyone.

"I cannot believe that the infamous Bloody Mary doesn't know who little ol' me is." Mary raised an eyebrow at her, then observed the park. "I'm not that famous. Just... feared. Don't mix fear and fame, kid." Mary smiled a somewhat mischievous smirk as her eyes darted around the area. She noticed Little Red, sighing quietly. She wondered who she was looking at, herself or the red-head. "Who I am isn't important right now, but I should tell you that we are being watched." Mary raised her eyebrow again. "No, of course we aren't, I'm just a psychotic murder and your hair's glowing, we're practically being ignored." The sarcastic tone in her voice sounded far less than friendly.

"To be honest I came here for selfish reasons, I wanted to meet you pure and simple." Mary let a small chuckle escape her lips and straightened her corset, then standing and raising her arms. "Well here I am, kid, the 'infamous' Bloody Mary. Psychotic, blood-thirsty and plain bored." She lowered her arms.

Scarlet watched as she raised her arms and put them back down, she had never met anyone quit like Mary and wasn't sure how to react to her. She pushed that to the back of her mind as she spoke, "Little Red isn't all who I was talking about," she said this in an even tone putting her glasses back on and regaining her composer, "They're watching you from all sides, each one of these buildings hold a half a deck each if you're lucky.' She smiled knowing that luck was never on the side that it needed to be, "But the royal guard is impatient and they won't stay back for long, also you might want to be careful who you talk to cause they might become a target too." she looked around every few seconds making sure that no one else was watching them then abruptly stood up.

"You probably won't see me again but if you ever need me here's my card," she handed Mary her still burning cigarette on the side was a little insignia of a flaming bird, She stretched her arms high into the arm leaning from one side to the other. "Whelp it's time for me to disappear now, something I haven't done in a long time." She turned to Bloody Mary then, "you'll need help on this so don't try it on your own find people who can help you and good luck," she made a 180 and walked off coffee in hand messenger bag at her hip making her way over to a 1957 baby blue beetle and stepped into the drivers seat and taking off blowing an overly sarcastic kiss at Mary as she went.

"They're watching you from all sides, each one of these buildings hold a half a deck each if you're lucky. But the royal guard is impatient and they won't stay back for long, also you might want to be careful who you talk to cause they might become a target too." Mary raised a sarcastic eyebrow at the girl, and scanned the area again. Watched? Why? No-one seemed to be 'watching' them apart from Little Red. And why would anyone else be targeted? "Trust me, kid, I've always been watched." Mary said simply.

"You probably won't see me again but if you ever need me here's my card," Mary examined her card, looking at the bird on it. Her mind started to slowly tick as the girl continued to talk. Mary's eyes darted to the girl again, taking her in, then examining her card. Birds... Birds.... Who's the one who does the bird thingy.... Snow? No, not Snow.... Mary nodded goodbye to the girl and headed to the library.

She entered silently, barely acknowledging Belle and then moved swiftly to the back and put her vandalised book back, before searching for the other book. "Flaming bird... flaming bird.... .... OH!" She jogged around to the historical section and took up a book on Greek Mythology. "That was Phoenix?" She flicked through the book, finding the pages about the girl. "Huh. She's been around less than me."

Belle was just about to pick up her things and head out of the library to head home before seeing Bloody Mary run back inside the library. She slowly made her way over to the brunette with a soft smile. "I'm sorry Mary, but the library is closed. If you'd like I could check that book out for you and you could take it home with you," she stated in her soft tone as she tucked her brown locks behind her ear.

When Belle glanced down at the book she noticed that she was reading about the phoenix. Truth be told there weren't many of them left in the world, even in the fairy tale world for that matter. It would be very rare for anyone to come into contact with one.

The Phoenix's words ran through her head as her attention was caught by Belle. "Right, right, sorry." She slowly closed the book and put it back. "I was just.... Researching." Mary did her best to be polite and headed to the exit. She glanced over her shoulder at Belle again, then a thought sprang through her head.

Belle looked so innocent, and everyone knew she would never hurt a fly.. Who would suspect or target her? Not those royal cardsmen, surely... "Listen... Belle..." Mary turned at the door and walked back to Belle. "Can we talk? I might..." She groaned, the unfamiliar words refusing to leave her lips. "...need help..."

Belle nodded her head at the female's words. Of course she was a bit surprised that Bloody Mary was asking for help from her, but she was going to do all she could to help her out. After all, there weren't many people Mary could have gone to for help because of her reputation. "Sure, would you like to talk here or at your place or my own?" the brunette questioned.

There was no denying how curious Belle was about what was going on and she wanted to know what it was as fast as she could possible. But she just wanted to make sure she was in a place where Mary felt comfortable about telling her.

Mary smiled a little, pushing herself to be polite. If anyone would know what that woman was going on about, it would be smarty-pants Belle. "Your place." Mary said quickly,. "It'll be far safer for you." They would never suspect Belle at all. Why would they?! She nodded quickly and headed to the door again. "Lets go. Quickly. No-one needs to see us."
