"The Minimum?"
Apathetic|| I fight against Minimum because of my commander. If not, why else would I feel as if I must fight against an established system? Of course, what I cause is naught but sadness- a system which accepts such a being is nothing but flawed, and thus in need of disposal.
Confused|| Edwin is also on the edge between fighting against or for the Minimum. On one hand, it acts as an indirect stopper for his uncontrollable power. But, yet, on the other, it restricts the freedoms of many people, including those in the Sonic Boom Gang. Also, without the Minimum- if Edwin can get away from the Minimum- he can search for a place where he is alone and thus out of the way of harming anyone.

None
ā Birthmarks/Scars/Tattoos/Piercings ā

Number: DCLXVI|| Tattooed right over where his heart is.
Edwin has no other tattoos or any piercings. However, his body is dotted with scars, the most notable one that crosses from the left tip of his shoulder all the way down to his right hip.
ā Physical Description ā
"Is this not all on the surface of which almost all eyes are able to see?"
Edwin is rather tall and thin, with no muscle build at all. His rather shabby and curly black hair accentuates his rather pointy face shape, and his electric blue eyes. Though slightly tall and thin, Edwin doesnāt look awkward at all. Rather, it seems as if Edwin was born the exact right size, his features and body structure accentuating a sort of gracefulness and propriety.
ā Habits/Quirks ā
ā¦ Finger Twitches|| Whenever he isnāt playing with his phone- or whenever one of his hands is not playing with his phone- Edwinās fingers tend to twitch from time to time. Edwin himself doesnāt know why they do; but- especially the fingers on his left hand- tend to twitch spontaneously without him realizing himself.
ā¦ Playing with his phone|| Though Edwin harbors hatred towards his phone, he cannot stop playing around with it. Snapping it open, flipping it around, taking pictures with it, and then stuffing it back into his pocket; Edwin does this on an hourly to minute-wise basis. These movements have become a trademark for Edwin amongst others.
ā Likes ā
ā„ Gambling// Just like all the other members of the Sonic Boom Gang, Edwin has developed a rather bad habit with gambling. He tends to frequent casinos, though, unlike quite a few of the other members in the Sonic Boom Gang, Edwin tends to win all his games. This has earned him quite a few bans and black listing over the past few years, and a rather healthy amount of fighting as well.
ā„ Reading// Edwin commonly has a book with him wherever he goes. Itās not that he reads the books; Edwin usually uses his books as a means of pretending heās not part of conversations.
ā„ Chess//This can be a form of tame gambling, no? Edwin loves to place bets during his matches with random people- from people he meets on the streets, to people on the internet-, and tends to get into those matches more so than the ones where he doesnāt place bets. Donāt try to talk to Edwin about chess rules, though- he is purely self-taught, and has not ever remembered the rules for chess. Ever.
ā„ Animals// When walking on the streets, Edwin has never been able to stop himself from stopping to pick up strays who cross his way. From dogs to cats, Edwin just canāt deny any of them a home. His house currently is- pretty much- filled with cats and dogs (amongst other animals), and he rarely ever puts any of them up for adoption. The animal that has been at Edwinās place the longest is Sir. Muffins the Great, an old fluffy cat, whom Edwin loves to carry around the place.
ā„ Observing his surroundings// Though he isnāt one to talk doesnāt mean that Edwin doesnāt like to observe his surroundings. Edwin tends to just stand in or out of the crowd, watching others as they speak or fight, or do whatever they want. He rarely places a comment down unless he believes he needs to, or if others ask him to. He isnāt shy, absolutely not. Edwin believes that he must evaluate each of his sentences, so that no one might be offended by what he says.
ā„ Music// Typical to the Sonic Boom Gang, Edwin loves to listen to music. Though he doesnāt sport large headphones, Edwin almost constantly has his earphones plugged into his ears, regardless if heās listening to music or not. Edwinās taste of music ranges from rock and grunge to classical and jazz. No one can really guess what song he is listening to because his interest range is just too wide.

ā Noisy people//
ā His phone// Though Edwin simultaneously likes his phone, he hates it with a passion. It is the main thing that he uses to activate his Error, to make sure that he is the one taking control, rather than being the one who is under control. Yet, his phone also symbolizes the awakening and existence of his Error. Edwin doesnāt know what to do but generally dislike the old phone that he now is obligated to carry around everywhere in order to protect himself.

ā Hobbies ā
ā Origami// Though far from a master at origami, Edwin loves to fold papers into animals, ornaments, and other figures a like. His recent achievement? An extremely hard origami tessellation that took him two days to finish. Edwin tends to either stick his pieces on his window- for a beautiful effect- or lines them up on an empty shelf he keeps just for his origami pieces.
ā Nature Walking// As noted, Edwin loves to walk around aimlessly. However, his walking doesnāt tend to be actually āaimlessā, but rather directed- in rather indirect ways- towards national parks and nearby forests. Edwin tends to make trips to these parks at least twice a day, immersing himself in the feeling, smell and sounds of nature to release the pent up stress he feels every second of every minute of every day. Here, or at least Edwin feels, his Error seems most docile, as if it enjoys nature as much as Edwin does.
ā Swimming/Surfing// Edwin tends to swim once every two days, and likes to travel far distances to surf on the waves of seas. He claims that the water calms him down and makes him feel comfortable, compared to when he is out of it.
ā Gardening// His small house, or his hideout, holds a small garden that Edwin tends to everyday. From vegetables to flowering plants, Edwin makes sure that each of them is taken care of. He sometimes picks his own flowers and gifts them to different people, or even random strangers on the street.
ā Photography// Edwin loves to take pictures on his phone. From people in general to sights that he sees everyday, anywhere. His phone is filled with pictures that he takes on a daily basis- actually, there is at least 5GB worth of pictures in his phone, and no one knows how the limited memory of the ancient phone is able to store that many photos. However, it does, and each photo represents a special memory and moment in Edwinās heart.
ā Fears ā
ā Achluophobia// Edwin hates the dark, or rather pitch darkness. With a little bit of light, Edwin feels fine. However, without a pin point of light, fear starts to grip in Edwinās heart as bad memories start to flow into his mind along with ominous feelings.
ā Catoptrophobia// This fear isnāt really directed towards mirrors themselves, but rather Edwinās own reflection. His changed eyes scare him- the unnatural color and gleam that he now sees every time he looks at his own reflection in all mirrors. It reminds him of the atrocity that he now harbors within himself- his Error.
ā Dystychiphobia// Everything that Edwin now does is limited by a set of regulations within Edwinās head. He cannot let himself get too emotional; He cannot use anyone; He cannot let his Error get out of hand. This has caused a fear of accidents to arise within Edwin, a fear that he would accidentally step out of the boundaries of the rules that he has set down for himself.
ā Flaws ā
ā Not outspoken// Even between himself and another person, Edwin rarely says what he wants and what he believes is true. This has caused Edwin to lose much of what he has desired and what he believed was right in the past. His status as second-in-command is usually challenged because many do not believe that he has the power or the right to stand right behind Ryota.
ā Unable to control his powers// His powers are not his own. Edwinās error has a mind of itās own; Edwin has no say in anything. He is the one that is listening to the Error, not vice versa. Not at all.
ā āStupidā// Edwin was not allowed to receive the normal education that was given to all children in the Minimum. His status as a ābastardā took his equal rights away from him the moment he was born. Asuna had to give birth to him in private, in the confines of their home with her mother to help her. Edwin himself was only able to receive a bit of education while he was living with his grandparents- but by then the content was extremely hard for Edwin to catch up with. After his grandparentsā- and his mother and stepfatherās- deaths, Edwin has never stepped in another school. He doesnāt have any trouble writing and speaking, but Edwin does lack a bit in terms of maths, phsyics and chemistry.
ā Apathy// Edwin tends to close off his emotions; he sometimes believes that he cannot feel what others do. He rarely is able to link himself emotionally with other people, except for the rare case of Ryota. The young boy from before is all but lost. What is not in his place is nothing but a shell of a human. Edwinās general lack of care has caused him to be estranged by quite a few members of the Sonic Boom Gang.
ā Secrets ā
ā Training// Do not mistake Edwinās general nonchalance and apparent ādiffidenceā with laziness. Rather, Edwin tends to drag himself up in the wee hours of the morning to train and make sure that his body is in prime shape. His frail stature hides the agility and strength that Edwin really has.
ā Fatherless// Edwin never knew his father, and no one bothered to tell him anyways. He later found out that he was the child of his mother and a chronic rapist- a mistake rather than a loveless conception. He himself is unsure which one is better, or which one is worse. No one besides his family and his then neighbors knew- Edwin is not sure if any of them still remember, but, well, all of his family members have taken the secret to the grave.
"This is not a weapon; it is the harbinger of seclusion and bad luck."
Foldable phone|| This phone acts as Edwinās link between his Error and himself. It drags Edwinās āsoulā into a blue world, in which Edwin can control sound waves as if he were pulling on strings. Here, he can cause large explosions to occur in the real world. This phone has an abnormally long battery lifespan- around 4 days- and is much more advanced than it looks.
ā Error ā
"Do not be mistakenā¦ it is not I that controls the Error; my Error controls itself."
Edwinās power relies on the destructive powers of sound waves; He can blow up anything at will. However, to do this, Edwin must be able to manipulate the sound waves- and thus the electromagnetic waves- that surround him and the object. To enter this stage, Edwin must āsummonā the state, as it is more of an entity than a place where Edwin goes. Upon opening his eyes, the world will be bathed in blue, and lines will fill the air. A flick or a point at whatever he wills can cause an explosion to happen. In this blue state, no one can see what Edwin is doing- it is as if his āsoulā leaves his body and is separated from his body. Thus, the locations for the explosions are unknown to Edwinās adversaries and can occur with quick succession. At times, it is almost as if Edwin is invincible with his power, as he causes either many small explosions in succession, or even one large explosion. The things that Edwin can explode range from inanimate objects to humans as well.
However, Edwinās error is far from refined. Without his phone- or if his phone isnāt turned on-, Edwin cannot enter this blue state and is completely helpless against outer attacks. When he does enter the second world, Edwinās body cannot move anymore- it freezes, and Edwin cannot return to it within 2 minutes. During this period of time, if anyone is close enough, they can potentially murder Edwin. Furthermore, just as noted above, this power is not a state. It is an entity- and it has a mind of itās own. Sometimes, while Edwin isnāt in the blue state, a flick or point of Edwinās can cause a massive explosion to occur. This happens occasionally, from time to time, especially when Edwin drops his phone, or with no reason at all. This has caused Edwin to develop a sort of fear towards his power- but he must use it in order to survive against the Minimum.
{Reserved||Compassionate||Courageous||Careful||Dependable||Introverted||Industrious||Diplomatic}
Edwin is extremely quiet. It is not that he doesnāt like to speak- the young second-in-command just prefers to watch others from the shadows. He is far from shy, just extremely introverted and reserved. Whenever Edwin does speak, he gives solid advice and speaks slowly with a sense of surety, allowing no one to question what he says. He himself always thinks what he says thoroughly, making sure that he doesnāt offend anyone or say anything, technically, āwrongā. This is also translated into his careful movements and calculated steps when doing almost everything. The chaotic nature of his error has brought a conflict between Edwin and himself. This has caused the boy retreat ever more into himself. What tinges his eyes now is not a carefree meticulousness, but fear and concern.
The awakening of his error has also forced Edwin to step up and be much more confident than he was before. When he was still young, he would hide behind any caring adult figure. However, with the death of his mother, Edwin has forced himself to be more courageous, stepping up to almost any difficulty that comes his way- this ranges from living on his own, to tackling the ever exuding powers of his error. His error has also awakened a more dependable side of Edwin- as stated above, he no longer runs away from responsibility anymore. It is now Edwinās highest and most important priority to keep the people he cares about- the people around him- safe and sound from both external aggression and Edwinās powers. Just as when he places himself to a task, Edwin has constantly stood by what he says, including his ātaskā of protecting others. He has never gone against any promise he has made before, nor has he ever let anything- besides his power- get in the way of any of the goals he has ever made..
But, inside this rather mechanical and cold exterior, Edwin is a compassionate child. He likes the companionship of animals, cares about everyone, and places almost everybody else in front of himself. He lives by the rules- Edwin dares not stray from his personal living style. He is the hazard, nothing else. Thus, everyone is more important than himself. Near everything else is a symbol of happiness, beside Edwin himself. If he does not push himself, if he doesnāt try, if he gives up, everything would be for naught. Thus, Edwin has shaped himself from the naĆÆve, innocent, cheerful young child he once was into the cold, rigid, rarely smiling young adult he is today.

"I would rather not think about this..."
ā¢ Mother| Asuna Veniera | Deceased// A normal citizen of Pandora. From Edwinās memories, Asuna always wore a smile on her face, though they were constantly tinged with sadness. As a single-mother, she brought up Edwin with all of her capabilities and all of her heart. This came to a stop the moment she remarried. The smile was forever gone and so was her laughter. Killed in a large explosion.
ā¢ Step-Father| Jason Hall | Deceased// An abusive man; Eric doesnāt remember a single day that passed without yelling and the sounds of bottles breaking. He was the one who brought the bad luck into the household- he was the one that started everything. Killed in a large explosion.
ā¢ Grandparents| Jack Veniera & Ellen Veniera | Deceased// The two elders had, one day, suddenly appeared at the door and whisked Edwin away without a second word to Asuna or Jason. The two then took care of him for a few years before they both died, one after the other, due to old age. Edwin holds nothing but good memories of the two- of the good days he spent before his power awakened.
ā History ā
"My life started when he awoke in my hands."
Edwin was born to his mother, Asuna, and an unknown father. He later heard, by accident, through many fights, shouts, and his grandparents that his mother had been raped on her way back from work. But, this didnāt happen once- it happened multiple times. Her assaulter would constantly wait for her near her workplace, follow her, and then drag her away where no one could see. This occurred at least 10 times before the police finally caught the rapist, just as he was following Asuna another afternoon. To the shock and chagrin of Asuna herself and her parents, she found herself impregnated a month later. Asuna refused to abort Edwin, stating that even though he was born a bastardā¦he still had a chance in life.
āI was born an error.ā
Asuna raised Edwin up as well as possible as a single mother in the Minimum. Obviously, they were treated on the same level as others, as equality was highly looked upon within the Minimum. But that didnāt mean that they were not ostracized and harassed with anonymous messages and phone calls. Thus, Edwin was brought up separated from the other children, and played mostly with his mother herself. This continued until he was 5, when Asuna finally caved to the demands of her parents and remarried a widower. Much contrary to what had been said about the man, he, Jason Hall, turned out to be an extremely abusive cubicle worker rather than the kind governmental official he had pretended to be while visiting Asuna and her family at first. The beatings started on the third week for Asuna; Jason started to beat Edwin around the start of the second month.
This marked the first step of Edwinās change. From the kind, innocent young boy he once was, Edwin went through a sudden and drastic change. From quiet, he went to fear, and when he was 10, rebellious and violent. Whenever his stepfather started to beat his mother, Edwin would fling himself at Jason and try to beat him off. It wasnāt like he could do anything much, anyways. This continued for 3 more years, until Edwin was finally able to fight his stepfather off, once. Jason didnāt dare to do much to the mother and son afterwards. Edwin took up the charge of protecting his motherā¦until his grandparents suddenly showed up at the front door and whisked the 13-year-old Edwin away from his mother and Jason. Later, Edwin heard from his then near-death grandmother that Jason had threatened to murder Edwin if he wasnāt taken away from āhis houseā.
While away from his old house, Edwin started to interact with other children within the area around his grandparentās house. Not because he wanted to, but because he knew his grandparents wanted to see the young boy unrebellious and, well, happy. This was relatively hard for the 'delinquent' Edwin, especially as he had stepped into the school near his grandparent's place around half way through the semester. But, he managed to make friends in the end. In order to get along better with his newly attained friends, Edwin also purchased a cell phone to help him contact his friends better- to stay 'in touch'. Without his grandparents knowing, Edwin purchased a phone at a second-hand shop for a very, very cheap price, though they had given him enough money to buy something much better. He had then painted over it with a layer of grey- the color of blue plastic didnāt suit Edwinās taste- and used it as if it were new. Nothing of much consequence happened, until he met the gang.
āIt wasā¦pure coincidence that I met him.ā
Edwin had been instantly drawn by the boy. Not that it was a romantic sort of draw- but rather, something else. He knew there was something special to this boy; even before he started to interact with Ryouta, Edwin knew that something about the boy was linked to his future. Never did he know that he would become second-in-command of the new gang Ryouta was creating at the time, the Sonic Boom Gang. Edwin also couldnāt foresee the disaster and carnage Ryouta would bring into his peaceful life. But, anyways, the two young boys became close friends and Ryouta seemed as normal as could be. Edwin would meet up with Ryouta from time to time and by the end of the year, it felt as if the two were the closest friends as could be.
Then, Edwinās grandparents died. Edwin attended the funeral alone, his mother unable to come due to Jasonās demands. Only Edwin's thin, small young silhouette stood in the darkness as his grandparent's coffins were laid in their graves and covered with soil. Only he mourned for their departure, and only Edwin cried that night for the two old, loving people. Under pouring rain, Edwin had ran back to his grandparentās house, only to find Ryouta waiting for him.
āWill you join my gang?"
A simple nod of his head created a glitch. Or rather, it caused Edwinās phone to start glowing a bright blue as words formed in his head- I summon thee. As a blue veil covered his eyes the words, "This is your fate" formed before his eyes, and suddenly lines surrounded him everywhere, reaching far and wide. Everything was covered with blue. Edwin had reached up, but an image of his hand hovered upwards to touch his head. A shock of realization had then pulsed through his mind, as Edwin realized that he was no longer tangible and in the 'real world' anymore. Rather, he was separated from his body and from the world he was used to. When Edwin tried to move again, a flick of his hand accidentally caused an explosion to happen, and a step back another, right where his grandparentās house was. The stress, shock, and sadness was too strong for the 15-year-old Edwin; he fainted. But before he did, a strong voice suddenly filled his head as a figure appeared before his eyes.
One this weak shall never be my true master.
When Edwin had woken up, he was lying in a hospital bed with none other than his motherās face hovering over his own- and Ryouta gone. The next thing that happened was that Edwin was released from the hospitalā¦and the abuse resumed. The house- and his mother and stepfather- only managed to survive two weeks. During an especially bad episode, Edwin had accidentally unleashed his powers, once again causing a large explosion to happen, blowing up the house he had once lived in into tiny pieces. Flames burst everywhere as he had ran away as fast as possible, away from the mechanical policemen and away from the frenzied screams of his mother, Jason, and the flames.
After only a week of walking, Ryouta suddenly appeared out of nowhere in front of Edwin and picked him up once more into the Sonic Boom gang. Edwin was installed in the placement of second-in-command, and has been ever since. However, this marked as Edwinās last transformation. He was gone. He was lost. He was the symbol of destruction and destitute in his own eyes. Edwin retracted into himself and into Ryoutaās shadows, unsure of whether he liked or hated the young boy for awakening his chaotic power.
āI shall find out, one dayā¦but for now, my allegiance lies within the Sonic Boom Gang.ā
"How much more...must I say..."
Over the past few years, Edwin has only gotten angry once. That day, the news reported a large explosion that killed at least 100 people.
