Donovan set down his book on the armrest of the chair and stood, crossing his arms over his chest and silently pacing the room. He knew the book backwards and forwards and sideways and slantways, but he still couldn't decipher a blasted thing, save for that one small passage. There was only one thing he knew about the book for sure: it belonged in his hands and no one else's. He had to get the second copy before someone else deciphered the spell. No one else needed to know that spell...it was too powerful to be in the wrong hands.
"Damn," he muttered, running a hand through his red hair. It wasn't that he didn't know where the second copy was...he knew all right. The trouble was, he'd have to visit the one place he dreaded to obtain it. He might have been evil, but he certainly knew that he didn't want to be associated with the ruling family. The second copy of the most powerful spellbook in existence was hidden somewhere in the Castle.

Donovan frowned, gazing towards this stranger sternly. "No," he said simply, spreading his dark, demonic wings, "and you had best learn to spot a demon when you see one. You're likely to offend someone."

Donovan frowned, annoyed. Quickly, he snatched up his spellbook, deciding to go get some fresh air. He slipped outside, keeping hold of the book as if his life depended on it. The book was called "The Book of the Demon Nobles", and only one other man knew its full power. Donovan wanted to keep it that way.

He snorted and turned around, "You underestimate my power queen" He sneered before giving the man a quick look and walking out of the castle. Shoving his hands in his pockets he strolled down the street. Obviously this place was going to be fun. The queen does not just simply dis respect a fox spirit that is more powerful than her. He turned and looked at his tails, the new tail finally finished growing in, fluffy red with a black tip. He smiled and started cleaning his claws. He had used up a lot of energy showing the queen his powers. Looking down at the grass he was standing in, he slowly sucked the life out of it going from a vibrant green to a dead brown. He stretched as his body absorbed the energy. "Much better." He said happily as he looked at his starball. It was a good thing it was always around his neck... he didn't like making promises to get it back, and he certinaly didn't feel like being returned to the spirit world, too much drama happens there. As he continued walking, he ran into a man with a book in his hand. "Woah! Watch it!" He snarled getting up his red eyes blazing.

Donovan glared at the kitsune. "Take your own advice," he growled, pushing past him and continuing on, the book vanishing into thin air. One of the many perks of being a dreamwalker was the ability to stash whatever he wanted in his dreamworld for later retrieval. He knew the book would be safest there.

Donovan sighed. There is was in the distance, the castle. Now, the question was how to get in, get the book, and get out unnoticed. He was most concerned with finding the book, not getting inside, though.

Donovan smirked slightly as he grew ever closer to the castle. Perhaps the key to getting inside unnoticed was to enter through a different door, a door less popularily used. Perhaps there was one in the gardens?

Donovan reached the castle but instead of heading for the main doors, he turned to head for the gardens, noting that if anyone had been watching, they could have easily seen him through the windows. While he admitted to himself that he quite liked being the center of attention, there was a job to do and it had to be done. He settled for a simple hairflip as he passed by the window, knowing that if anyone had been watching, they would have seen it. Sometimes he hated how much of a narcissist he was, since in this instance it disrupted his plan of entering unnoticed. Oh well, what was done was done and now he could focus on finding a back way into the castle.

Donovan made his way through the gardens, scanning the area for any sort of door. Frankly, he hadn't expected to find one and had been ready to simply slip through the main doors and make up some excuse as to why he was there, but, there it was, the door he was looking for. Quickly, he tried the handle, discovering that the door was unlocked. He opened the door and slipped inside.
The door led into a dark and deserted hallway. Was this some sort of secret passage or something? Maybe. Regardless, it wasn't secret any longer and the hallway was coming to an end. Before him stood a simple door. He paused. If this was a secret passage, where was the entrance? He knew without a doubt that the entrance was beyond this door, but he simply could not figure out where that entrance was. He mentally swore and sighed, grasping the handle, deciding that he'd just have to improvise if it led to where he thought it did. Silently, he turned the handle and opened the door, finding himself in the same room he had expected to arrive in: the throne room.

Cassandra turned her head and looked up in surprise as one of the servant doors at the side of the room entered and an unfamiliar man with red hair entered. He, like Sepiroth, was very attractive, but in a different way. While Sepiroth was elegant and handsome, this one looked exciting and sexy. And he, like both herself and Sepiroth, had wings. His were dark and demonic. He was probably a demon. Her dazzling emerald eyes locked on him momentarily and the slightest of frowns crossed her ruby lips.

"May I ask who you are," she asked slowly, "and why you are here?" She wasn't too terribly pleased that her time with Sepiroth, time that she was supposed to enjoy, was being interrupted. Perhaps if she'd met the sexy one first and Sepiroth was interrupting, she might feel the other way, but right now, she wanted to spend time with Sepiroth. And this man, this stranger, whoever he was, was interrupting.

Donovan folded his wings flat against his back. "My apologies," he said, "...I came to visit the gardens and discovered a door. Needless to say I decided to explore. I am terribly sorry if I am intruding on anything important. My name is Donovan Blade."

Cassandra's red lips curved downwards into a slight frown, tainting her beautiful young face and hinting at some annoyance. Sexy and well-spoken. How dare such a man intrude on her when she was just getting ready to sit down and get to know Sepiroth?

"What makes you think that if you see a door, you can simply come waltzing through and explore my castle as you please?" she asked him. She didn't like that. She would have to set some guards at whatever door it was from which he had come. She didn't much like the idea of randomers wandering into her castle at their will. The front doors of the castle were one thing, since they were guarded and protected, but a random side door in the gardens? She couldn't let that continue to exist freely.

"As I said before," Donovan said, "my humblest apologies. My curiosity got the best of me." He gave Cassandra the slightest of smirks, but it vanished in an instant as he gazed towards her, taking in the sight of her. He was surprised, really, that such a fair creature existed.

Cassandra was silent a moment, gazing towards him. She lifted one pale hand delicately and she ran it through her vibrant red curls, keeping her eyes locked on him. She was unsure what to say for a moment, and she simply looked at him with those deep green eyes.

"You know what they say, Donovan Blade," she murmured, her voice melodic and musical. "Curiosity killed the cat. Or maybe my guards did. I don't like animals." She would have smirked had she been anyone else, but Cassandra's face seemed to be carved of stone. It showed very little. No emotion, no laughter or humour, no happiness or sadness. Just a cold, empty shell of what should be a cheerful, lively young woman.

"I have no quarrel with curiosity," Donovan said, smirking a bit, "in fact, I believe it works in my favor. As does fate, coincidentally." He stretched his dark, demonic wings, hoping he would be able to get on Cassandra's good side. He needed that book and he knew he needed her help to get it, otherwise, he'd never escape with it.

Cassandra quirked one eyebrow slightly, her beautiful eyes watching him. She fluttered her wings a little bit, an unconscious answer to him stretching out his own wings, and frowned a little.

"And now you've got me curious," she said. "Tell me, why do you think that? How do curiosity and fate work in your favour today, Donovan Blade?" There was an inviting challenge in her glittering emerald eyes, taunting him somewhat. Why not mess with him and embarrass him? He was the one silly enough to come wandering into the Queen's castle uninvited, especially using a back door that was supposed to be used only by servants.

"A moment ago you were criticizing me for being curious and yet, here you are, curious about me," Donovan said, smirking, "and you haven't any idea how tempting it is to return the favor."

Cassandra raised an eyebrow, keeping her emerald eyes locked on him. She wasn't sure she liked what he was getting at.

"Well, you should probably resist that temptation," she replied icily. "My guards are everywhere and my magic is strong. If you anger me, you will be in a lot of trouble."

Donovan laughed slightly. "I sincerely doubt that you could manage to overpower me, but I'd rather not find out whether or not I'm right," he said, smirking.

Cassandra narrowed her eyes. Why were there suddenly people waltzing into her castle and acting and speaking to her as if they were more powerful than she was? Her mother was right. Her grandmother was right. These people had no respect for her. And in order to have respect for her, they had to fear her. She would have to ensure that the people did fear her. What would her mother have done?

Thinking for a moment, Cassandra knew exactly what her mother would have done. Kiara would have started by ordering the royal army to attack the inn, the school, and the town square. She would have had the guards set some fires throughout the city, and they would have been told to take things from the people. She would wait mere hours for people to recuperate, and once they had, Kiara would then send some guards into the city with orders to collect the peoples' taxes. Those who didn't pay up would be thrown in the dungeons.

Yes, that was exactly what Kiara would have done. Kiara was an excellent Queen. And Ophelia, well, Ophelia surely would have done the same. And Ophelia, certainly, was an excellent Queen before Kiara. Cassandra wanted to be as great a Queen as they were. And to be as great a Queen, Cassandra would have to make the people respect her. She would have to make them fear her.

"We'll see about that," she murmured in response to Donovan's words, a cold look in her nonetheless stunning eyes.
