a character in “Fusion Fantasy Neo”, as played by GBA

Description

Name:
The Lurker
Final Fantasy XII - Pharos At Ridorana, Subterra
Image

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Age: Unknown

Gender: Male

Alignment: Lawful Evil

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Physical Description: Born from shadows, the Lurker is capable of twisting his body into infinite shapes and sizes. His most common form, however, is a spectral mass dotted with numerous line markings, which are capable of glowing incredibly brightly, whether to blind foes or light up his surroundings. These markings are also capable of changing into many other colors, which are largely affected by the Lurker's surrounding environment. His default color for them, however, is a pale, almost-sapphire blue. Towards the end of his ghostly body, it unfurls almost into the shape of torn robes, instead of a traditional snake-like tail.

Personality: A trusted emissary from where he normally resides, the Lurker considers honor, loyalty, success, persistence and precision very highly, as befitting a being firmly seated within the Lawful Evil alignment. He is short and concise when he deems it necessary to speak, which some can assume to be nothing more than a ghostly whisper, but is otherwise silent - his designated name speaking louder than any words could hope to compare.

History: Recently introduced, the Lurker is supposedly an emissary that hails from an obscure, previously unheard-of location referred to as the "Sealed Palace." Where, or what, it is is unknown, and the Lurker himself certainly isn't saying anything..

Equipment: The Lurker has no need for traditional equipment - he is capable of shape shifting any part of his body to suit his needs, whether for passive or hostile purposes. He shows knowledge in numerous magical abilities, as well - drawing energy from his surroundings to bond with a particular element, and using said element for new attacks.

Other: Being a mass of shadows, the Lurker is immune to standard attacks from weapons and firearms - he is, however, particularly weak to various magic and elemental attacks, especially ones that counteract whatever element he himself might be using at the time - save attacks involving light, which he strangely seems to have a resistance to, despite being a being of the void..
One alarming piece of information, however, is that the Lurker can never be "truly" defeated - only slowed down, or pushed back. Even if his 'body' is eradicated, he will later reform himself, once again. Woe be to those whom earn this silent phantom's wrath; for he never truly tires.

So begins...

Somewhere along the beach's coastline, not too far from the town, but far enough to be little more than a speck in the distance, energy starts gathering up in abundance, focusing into a centered point - sand grains swirling up almost like a whirlwind, with bolts of electricity crackling here and there as a portal of sorts starts to form within the tiny dust cloud.

Some tourists, probably with more money and attitude than they know what to do with, look out from under their beach umbrellas and see the portal starting to form.

"Dear," said the husband. "Get the camera. We need photos of this."

"I already used all the film on pictures of us drinking martinis, dear," replied the wife.

"You're dead to me."

The whirlwind of sand stops churning, the grains somehow still hovering in the air around the portal, as an unidentifiable mass suddenly rockets out of it into the distance. This motion sends the sand cloud that was forming scattering in all directions, most prominently upon the nearby tourists. The portal, meanwhile, collapses upon itself, leaving no trace; as if it was never there to begin with.

"Darling, it would have been gone before I could have taken a picture, anyway," said the tourist wife.

"Well, it's a moot point anyway, since you're dead to me," replied the tourist husband.

"Moot doesn't actually mean what you think it means," said the wife. "In fact, it's commonly misused."

Sarina and the tourists cover their eyes from the sand cloud that spreads everywhere in the village. After that, the sand cloud is gone. She turns her attention to the tourists.

"What in the world was that?" Sarina asked herself, "It's unusual to have a sandstorm on an island like this..."

"Maybe it's a cosmic horror kicking up dust somewhere, in an effort to cause a butterfly effect around the world, enveloping us all in a sandstorm of blinding misery and teary eyes!" One tourist suddenly shouts, horrified.

"Shut UP, Johnson!" a second said, smacking the crazed tourist upside the back of his head.

"..No, but it's a close second," an unfamiliar voice suddenly chirps, rather quietly, from behind Sarina.

Sarina turns around and faces a stranger that suddenly appears out of nowhere. Who is this strange being?

The source of the voice behind Sarina turns out to be... nothing more than a small child, clad in a cloak and some strangely regal robes, although being somewhat dirtied by sand.

"Hi," said the child, simply.

"Oh! A wandering child?" Sarina spoke as she kneels down in front of the child, "You poor thing... are you lost?"

"Sorta," the strange child said, looking around from under his hood. "I'm looking for one of my friends - do you know what region this is, miss?"

"You're in Nikko Village." Sarina replied. "It's part of a mystical region called Yuyake."

"You.. don't know where we are?" The child asks, incredibly puzzled by this. "But, don't you live here, miss..?"

Karasz, before the edit wrote:"I don't know where we are," said Sarina.

"I'm pretty sure you're in Yuyake, son," said a nearby tourist - a young man.

"DUFRESNE!" shouted another tourist at the first. "GROWN MEN ARE TALKING!"

"YOU'RE UP FOR REVIEW, DUFRESNE!" shouted a third.

"Anyway," the child resumed, retracting his previous question. "Yuyake, huh? Sounds like I came to the right place, after all. Thanks!"

The child runs off.
...But then soon runs back to Sarina, as if he forgot something.

"Um, by the way miss, what's your name? I kinda forgot to ask that first.. Sorry," said the child, looking apologetic.

"Sarina.. Zaritoni? I see.." the child says, suddenly giving off a rather eerie smile - an almost haunting sense of unease being immediately noticeable. "Well, thank you, miss Sarina!"

With that said, the strange child quickly runs off; likely for real this time, as he soon disappears into the distance along the beach's shoreline. Whether this is a good or a bad thing, however, remains to be seen - the feeling of an unnatural dread still lingering in the air even after the child's departure.

Troubling enough, the spiritual offshoot doesn't try fighting back - instead, it just sits there within the Tower Key, allowing itself to be overwhelmed by the massive amount of energies present and seemingly dissipating...

-----

"Thisss bodesss ill," Ripsaw hissed to himself as he watched the unsettling changes to the Bell Tower, shortly before turning to his master. "My lorrrd, shall we retrrreat?"

Plantium, on the other hand, is mostly unresponsive; concentrating all of his strength as the purple aura surrounding him from before starts flickering on and off, whilst muttering something indiscernible under his breath; a grin slowly spreading across his face.

"Lorrrd?" Ripsaw hesitantly questions.

-----

Meanwhile, a jet-black ghostly being emblazoned with numerous glowing markings suddenly appears in the distance, flying over the ocean. He soon comes upon the scene happening over at the Bell Tower and swiftly pauses in his tracks, staring blankly at both the Metal Legion's massive presence and the brightly glowing tower.

"..Disturbing," the creature said, apparently sensing the many energy fluctuations in the area.

Now that Renna was linked to the tower key, she could feel the four towers growing out from the main tower, and grinned as she felt the bolt of energy the tower was charging getting stronger. Her eyes for some reason still glowed slightly although the key was back to it's normal state as the blast from the enemy faded away. Renna would have been puzzled by this if she wasn't already busy giving the tower a little bit of extra power. I hope this works. Which it will! Don't think of the negatives Renna!

"(!) Uh...does anypony else feel something wrong suddenly?" Twilight asked, having felt a disturbance within the Tower Key. Whatever it was, it might make things worse...!
