Merridia Cerulean

Image

ImagePlay By: Astrid Berges-Frisby
Age: 17
Godly Parent: Poseidon
Eye Color: light blue
Hair Color: dark brown
Height: 5'6
Bio: Along with Caspian, Felicia Cerulean bore a twin daughter, whom she named Merridia. (Similar to Caspian, Merridia was inspired by the Mediterranean Sea) While Caspian idely ran around every time the family visited a new country, Merridia took the time to learn about the country's culture and lifestyle. Of course, she never missed an oppurtunity to fool around with her brother, but there was something in the girl that was naturally curious and inquisitive. While Felicia was tasked with the responsibility of keeping her son still, she was also being bombarded with questions by her daughter.

During the family's kidnapping by the Somalian pirates, Merridia and Caspian managed to escape their room, thanks to the girl's observations and cunning, and the boy's strength. They found the compartment where their mother was being held, and saved her just before anyone could catch them. Eventually, the crew did notice, and just before the family could jump off deck, the crew surrounded them. An all-out gun war ensued, with the family grabbing guns and shooting for their lives. Just then, Merridia turned to find one of the pirates aiming at Felicia withougt he mother's notice. In desperation, Merridia pushed her mother out of the way just in time. Unfortunately, the bullet hit her ear. Caspian noticed that Merridia had been hurt, and shielded her, his arms in front of him for defence. Just then, water from below the ship rose up and hit one of the pirates. This was how the twins found out about their water manipulation powers. Once the family was able to make it to shore, they were able to get her to a hospital. Her left ear was not disfigured, but the bullet had made her partially deaf for life.

After learning about the secret of her father and later moving to New York, Merridia became extremely intrigued. She wanted to know more about her father and the rest of the gods. While becoming a prestigious student in her school, Merridia also spent her time at museums and libraries, learning all that she could about Poseidon. On her 15th birthday, Merridia received a dream from Poseidon. The god had told her to become knowledgeable in the art of combat, specifically with use of a trident, or 'tiger spear'. He also told her to teach Caspian as well, and improve her powers. He finished by saying that eventually, they would come in handy. Merridia did as her father told her to, and taught her brother as well. Eventually, she received another dream from Poseidon saying that her and her brother needed to travel to a camp in Oregon, were there would be kids like them. It would be there that the twins would fulfill their destiny.
ImagePersonality: As previously stated, for the most part, the twins share a similar personality. However, while Caspian uses his heart, Merridia uses her head. This doesn't mean that she isn't emotional, (she has daydreams and fantasies bigger than the ocean itself) but she prefers to think things through rather than take risks. She's not neccessarily intelligent, but she is extremely cunning, and often times finds things that most people overlook. While Caspian prefers to 'wing it' when it comes to hard work, Merridia prepares and tests. Because of her curiousity, she likes to experiment and find out things that can be of important use later on. With her combined ambition of learning and headstrong personality, Merridia is arguably very powerful.

However, despite her useful qualities, she is often overlooked by her communicative brother. She isn't shy in the slightest, but unlike her twin, Merridia is more cautious when it comes to making friends, enemies, and getting to know people in general. She doesn't judge a book by its cover. She can often be found in the shadow of her brother, but when independent, she prefers to be with a small group of very close friends rather than a wide range of acquaintances. Sure, she's strong by herself, but she feels that with a team, she can be even stronger. With her friends, Merridia is the same as she is with her brother. Modest, honest, helpful, courageous, and selfless are words that have been used to describe her. Some people also thinks she's quite sweet/adorable, as she's a huge daydreamer, and a hoarder who likes to collect things. Those who know Merridia well know that she has a very large scarf collection that she takes pride in.

Despite her good attributes, the "sweet" girl has a variety of traits that can make quite a few enemies. Sometimes, Merridia is so tightly-wound, that it's uncanny. There are some times where she's afraid to let loose. It's not because she's shy, it's just because she's skeptical and she doesn't want to do something she's going to regret later. A trait that she shares with her father is that she is a very determined girl. When Merridia sets her mind to something, she will not stop until her goal is completed. Although this means she won't give up, this also means that she can be too hard on herself and won't give herself a break when she needs it. Another trait that she shares with her father is that she can be greedy. Not necessarily with money or power, but when she sees something that she doesn't understand, her curiosity will kick in, and she will try to find how it works, what it does, why it does it...etc. It's safe to say that Merridia's curiosity can get her in deep trouble, especially when she's snooping on things that she isn't supposed to know. Sometimes, due to her findings, she can even become jealous. After all, she's extremely competitive. Last but definitely not least, when angered enough, she can have an explosive temper, and will become more pugnacious and violent. Caspian knows her well enough to not cross her, because when her temper appears, she can become scarier and more destructive than a tsunami.

"Well, here we are. Half-Blood Village."

Two twins stood next to each other, viewing the wooden sign to the entrance of the village. It was hoisted up on a totem-pole like structure that could be considered as some sort of archway. Not only the archway, but the forest itself had a mysterious, majestic, and timeless feel to it. As they stood side-by-side at the entrance, Merridia and Caspian could feel the seconds slowly pass by.

"Mm-hmmm. Very nice." the boy said, losing his interest and tossing a full water bottle into the air. He wore a bright blue v-neck shirt and a light gray hoodie.
"You want a picture in front of this thing? You know we're going to have to keep in touch with Ma." his sister replied. Ironcally, she wore a dark gray tanktop with dark blue cardigan. The twins always seemed to match somehow, even if it was unintentionally. Although, Caspian's appearance always seemed more open. With her dark color schemes and long navy-blue scarf draped across her neck, Merridia gave the impression that she was more mysterious and closed in nature.

"No, Merri," he responded, using the nickname he had for his twin sister, "Let's do that later. Right now, i just wanna see what's inside..."
Before he could take a step foward, his sister stopped him.
"Wait, Caspian..."
"What?"
"I....I have to tell you something." she sharply stated, her deep voice becoming slightly shaky.
"The people...the people inside, you realize they are all demigods, just like us. Although we're similar to them, it's not neccessarily a good thing."
Caspian raised an eyebrow. Before he could question her, Merridia continued.
"Our father...he was a just god, but he was very violent and jealous. Just look at his competition with Athena for Athens..."
"Yeah, and Athena won and claimed Athens. I know, you told me a BILLION TIMES..."
"No. You don't understand. What if one of the demigods here knows Poseidon as a foe? Because of our father, we may have already made enemies that we don't even know about. Now I know you're one to try and get to know everyone you meet, so all i'm asking is that..."
"Merri, why would father tell us to go to this place if he knew we would be in danger if we did?"
There was silence. Merridia opened her mouth, trying to answer that question, but as she struggled to find the right words, the silence just became longer. Caspian gave her a smirk, and then turned around to pass through the archway.
"Caspian...."
He turned around again, seeing that his sister still stood in the same spot.
"Just....you have no idea of the effect you can have on people."
"Neither do you. You coming or what?"

After a minute or so, the twins had been fully immersed in the world of Half-Blood Village. The mountainous environment and beautiful cabins made for a very interesting atmosphere. Suddenly, to Caspian's confusion, Merridia started to flank off to the left.
"Hey, where you going?"
"I'm going to find the person in charge here and also find out what cabin me and you are staying in. I'll be back. Don't wander too far."
As her figure faded away, Caspian stood awkwardly in the same spot. Although he wasn't doing anything, he was looking around attentively, hoping for something to do. And there, suddenly, it came to him.

There was a group of people surrounding a girl who looked as though she had been injured. Although he had been acting awfully tired the whole train ride and walk to Half-Blood Village, he ran as though he was full of new energy.
"Hey, can you guys move outta the way?" he said, nudging away people who were in his path, specifically a blonde-haired guy who had had his arm extended towards the injured girl.
"What on earth did you do to yourself?" he said, inspecting the girl's cuts that were located on her eyebrow and lip.
"Don't worry, i can heal it. It'll only take a second..."
With a swift movement of his hand, he unscrewed the cap to his water bottle, and with his power of water manipulation, he removed the liquid from it's container. In mid-air, the liquid flowed into a wide shape that fit smoothly across the girl's head and lips. It glowed a bright blue as Caspian made circular motions with his hands, using his healing powers.
"Don't worry, it's all free of charge." he joked, "I'm Caspian, son of Poseidon. Me and my sister just came here five minutes ago. Nice to meet you all!"
Eventually, he removed the water from the girl's face and flung it off to his side. He didn't look to see where he was flinging it, and it splashed on the blonde-haired guy's face.
"Woops! Didn't see you there!" he said, chuckling.

Lilia
Lilia had to ants on the palm of her hand, crawling around but never leaving her palm. Which was strange, because usually ants didn't crawl in one spot. They'd try to go up your arm, to the back of your hand, or to jump off all together. But these two seemed quite content on her hand. Lilia could here people talking near another cabin, but didn't want to go see what was going on. She was busy. Well, not really, but to her this seemed important. At least till she heard someone leave her own cabin. Looking behind her, Lilia saw Alex come outside. She appeared to be looking for something, but Lilia didn't say anything for quite some time. Finally though, she took pity and called out, "Hey, you need something?" When she glanced back at her hand, the ants were gone, but she didn't feel them crawling on her body so decided not to worry about it.

Ethan
Ethan had just gotten to the village, but couldn't bring himself to look for someone or anything to help him get settled. He simply didn't want to. Looking around, he figured in a place for demi-gods there'd be some form of training area. And training meant weapons. Smiling a bit, Ethan went to look around, but only ended up finding a girl who looked around 17. She didn't see him, but appeared to be looking for someone. Probably whoever was in charge around here. Ethan briefly thought about calling out to her, but then thought better of it. However, as he thought he forgot to look at where he was going and ran straight into a tree. That was followed by a string of swears coming out of his mouth, rather loudly.

Caspian

Luckily, there laughter arose from Caspian's misjudgment. He was relieved, knowing that if good-natured laughing came from these people, than his accident wouldn't be considered rude or offensive. He was one to joke around, but he wasn't one to start a bad relationship with someone right off the bat. Knowing Caspian's philosophy of social situations was like trying to figure out why the planets circled the sun.

Caspian looked around to see who it was who was laughing. It was a girl his age with fiery-red hair. With her short stature, she could almost be compared to a phoenix. "Nice one." she chuckled, "My name is Nicki... I'm a daughter of Hephaestus... And you guys?"
"Nice to meet you Nicki, daughter of Hephaestus....wait...WAIT A MINUTE..." his happy-go-lucky expression turned into a face of disbelief, "DO YOU GUYS EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER YET?? Wow, I thought in this village everyone would be like, super tight or something. I'm surprised. I mean, we all have something in common, right? Why be so shy?"

Merridia

As Merridia walked through the village, she paid attention to the buildings and landmarks, making a mental map of the camp.
Merridia didn't see any signs or anything in the camp. In a dream, her father had told her that once she got to Half-Blood, she would need to look for a woman named Melissa Terry. She would assign the twins a cabin, and give them jobs. The question was, what did this Melissa Terry woman look like, and where could she find her? Did the residents of the village know about this woman, or did she work secretly among the sidelines? Merridia became extra attentive, hoping to find a clue or something that would end her wandering search for the woman.

Just then, a voice behind her shouted a boat-load of curse words. Merridia turned around, finding that a brown-haired boy about her age was the source of the noise. She was about to walk away, until she noticed that the guy made a strange face, as though he was wincing in pain. He was near a tree...did something happen?
"Are you alright over there?" she called out to him. Instead of waiting for an answer, she quickly approached him.

Once Merridia got closer to him, she noticed that this guy was like a titan. He had a very muscular body, and although the details of his face were slightly intimidating, he looked timeless, just like everything else in Half-Blood so far.
"Hey, are you alright?" she asked again, this time, looking up at him. He was slightly taller than Caspian, and so she had to lift her head in order to give him eye contact. With his appearance, Merridia wondered which god or goddess he was the child of. She made a list in her head, and decided he was either from Zeus, Ares, Hephaestus, or Athena. He didn't look dark enough to be a child of Hades, and if he was a hunter of Artemis, he wouldn't even be in the camp. Then again, it would take a lot more than first impressions to figure out where he came from.

Merridia

For a moment there was an awkward silence. As the seconds passed, Merridia started to become slightly worried. Hopefully he hadn't sustained a hard enough injury where his thought process had been messed up. Eventually, he did speak. At first, all she heard was muffled sounds coming from his mouth. She quickly stepped to her left, and fortunately heard the last part of his sentence, "...Fine."
She nodded, understanding that he wasn't hurt. Sometimes, she had forgotten that she was partially deaf in her left ear. She was so used to her friends and family being on the right side of her, that she forgot that she'd have to be aware of her position when meeting new people.

"Uh... Ethan," the broad-shouldered boy stated, holding out his hand for her to shake. From his body language, she could tell that he was either uncomfortable, or terribly shy. "Son of Ares."

So he was a son of Ares, god of war. Merridia had always considered the myth of Ares and the giants to be one of her favorites. Although Ares was a war god, his personality and temper was nothing like Athena's. While Athena was wise and calm, Ares had a violent and destructive nature. Could this boy be a chip off of the old block? Although he didn't really seem like his father, Merridia made a mental note to be careful around Ethan.

"Merridia. Daughter of Poseidon. Nice to meet you," she said, grasping his extended hand and shaking it firmly. With her deep soothing voice, and a graceful smile, she had washed away the awkwardness of the conversation. "I suppose you don't happen to know where I could find a woman named Melissa Terry?" she asked, "Apparently I have to see her so she can assign me and my brother to a cabin...."

Lilia
Lilia nodded slightly at Alex when she asked to come. Lilia didn't really mind, since she didn't even know where she was going. She didn't know much about Alex either, apart from her being Hermes daughter. Looking up at the sky, Lilia smiled a bit but it quickly went away. "I wonder if there's anything to do here besides... sit around."

Ethan
"Merridia. Daughter of Poseidon. Nice to meet you," she said, after giving Ethan a look that made him think she was analyzing him or something. Not that he cared, but if she wanted to know something she should just ask. "Uh, you too," he mumbled before looking around, then realized she was asking about where the girl was to get cabins. Ethan shrugged. When he did that, he had payed minimum attention, so he had no idea where really anything is. "Uh, could be there," he said pointing, then smirked and pointed gthe complete opposite direction. "Or there."

Merridia

Ethan, son of Ares shrugged at Merridia's question. She figured that he either had no clue, or he just didn't care, or both.
"Uh, could be there," he said, pointing in the direction in one of the cabins, "Or there." he added, moving his pointed hand in the complete OPPOSITE direction. At first, Merridia was going to take the information seriously, until she saw the smirk on his face. That couldn't be good. Was he seriously trying to trick her or something? She wanted to say something sarcastic, but with this guy's appearance and status, crossing him would be like suicide.

"Alright then," she smirked, copying his facial expression, "I'll take that. Again, nice to meet you Ethan, I guess I'll see you la-...."
Suddenly, the clouds overhead darknened, and the distant roar of thunder could be heard. Although she couldn't hear it too well, it sounded like it was close, but not too far away. She exhaled deeply as she realized that the sound of the thunder was coming from the spot where she had left Caspian.

"You've got to be kidding me," she gritted under her teeth. She quickly left Ethan's side and sprinted as fast as she could along the winding pathway where she came from. Abnormal thunder only meant one thing: Zeus. Fortunately, there was no lightning that hit the ground yet. In Merridia's mind, she was only hoping that Caspian wasn't making the child of Zeus angry. If he had succeeded to make him furious, which he most likely would, her brother would be burnt to a crisp.

Caspian

The blonde-haired guy had no hard feelings, and took amusement in Caspian's accident. Perfect, everything was going great.....Except for the fact that the blonde-haired girl in the group. She had wished the demigods goodbye and started to move away on her own, thunder clouds forming over her head. No doubt about it, she was the child of Zeus. It pierced Caspian's heart to see that his presence was making her uncomfortable. He looked down at the ground for a moment, and then payed his attention to the blonde-haired guy who was introducing himself,
"Umm, I'm Noah" he said, looking back at the girl who had left, "son of Apollo" he turned his head back to face the group, "Its nice to meet you guys.. And I really want to see some more of that whole 'water controly' thing, 'cause that's pretty sweet but ill be back in a minute"
He retreated towards the child of Zeus, and silently, Caspian praised his actions and courage. To help relieve the tensions that had been built, Caspian continued to talk.
"'Water Controly thing'; my sister's really good at that. Better than I am. Anyway, so we have Nicki, daughter of Hephaestus, Noah, son of Apollo, the child of Zeus, and then we have...." he turned to face the girl he had healed. He smiled at her, giving her a cue to speak next.

"Uhm Hi. I'm Kate..."

Caspian looked at the girl, a confused look on her face. Could Kate talk through her closed mouth? No, there was someone behind him. He turned around to face a slender girl with long caramel-brown hair. "I just arrived a few minutes ago, and I'm kind of at a lost of where to go." she said, seeming nervous. Caspian grinned lightly. "Ah, don't worry! I just got here five seconds ago! I'm waiting for my sister. She told me she'd figure out which cabin we'd be in, and then come back. Maybe she can help you too. Oh, look! There she is now!"

Merridia arrived on the scene to find a bubbly Caspian surrounded by three women.
Of course.
As her brother put her up to the spotlight, she looked back at his audience like a deer in headlights. After a moment, she snapped back to her senses, and approached her brother with a serious look on her face.
"Me. You. We talk. Now."
"About what?"
"No questions. Come on, let's go."
"Sis, you know it's rude to just storm in...."
"CASPIAN, PLEASE..."
"This is Merridia! She's my twin sister! My ABSOLUTELY LOVELY twin sister!"
There was silence as brother and sister battled it out through facial expressions. Merridia's weapon was the daggers coming out of her furious eyes, and Caspian's was his sharp, know-it-all smirk. Merridia then brought up her own smirk, and started to speak rather melodramatically.
"Yes, my name is Merridia Cerulean! Unlike my smart-ass brother, I only come outside during special occasions!"
Merridia then grabbed Caspian by his ear, and started to pull him towards her. He squealed in pain as she started to drag him away from the crowd.
"Now if you'll excuse us, Caspian has to go sign autographs for his many adoring admirers!"
"MERRI! OWWW!!! STOP..."
"By the way," she looked at Nicki, her voice returning to its normal sound, "Your red hair is freaking awesome. I wish I had the guts to die my hair like that. I'm being 100% sincere." she flashed a smile at the girl before returning her attention to Caspian.
"Alright, say goodbye to your fan club...."
"NO!!! AAAUUUGGHHH!!! I HATE YOU!! SO MUCH!!!"
And with that, the twins had faded into the distance.

Katharyn "Kate" Bines

Kate had opened her mouth to reply to either the boy or the girl, when another girl came around, and comenced in an argument with the boy... Caspian. At first, it was slightly funny, but as his sister brought him away, it seemed more and more like she was a mother figure as opposed to a sister. Then, realizing Nicki had stuck her hand out to shake, Kate put hers in it, smiling. "Nice to meet you," she replied, before adding on more. "Did I hear you were the daughter of Hephaestus?" She asked, getting slightly excited. The first Demigod, and only one she knew outside of camp had been the son of Hephaestus, and she had been both her best friend, and like a brother to her.

As she thought about the fact that he was the only other demigod she knew, she glanced around, looking at all the people in the area. Was it even possible that there were this many? And they all have powers, she thought, wondering what each's was. That was incredible, and unbelievable.

There was cave-like silence as the two twins walked through a heavily-wooded path, presumbly some sort of shortcut through the camp. Merridia walked with her hands in her pockets, while Caspian's eyes looked attentively at his sister as he waited for her to say something. He looked like he could explode at any given moment.

"I swear, sometimes i think you're actually the son of Aphrodite...."
"DUDE!!!! WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?!?! I WAS JUST TRYING TO HAVE A NICE CONVERSATION WHEN YOU BUTTED IN AND MADE YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A HUGE JERK!!!! SERIOUSLY, WHY?!?!"
"The THUNDER, Caspian."
"What?"
"Dark clouds were hovering over where you were. Abnormal weather changes like that can only be caused by one god: Zeus. I told you to stay put and yet you COMPLETELY disregarded what i said and went on to ANGER the child of Zeus!!! Now we have an enemy on our hands, and it's all your fault!!"

Caspian looked back at his sister with wide eyes, his exhilirated face toned down to a look of realization. Merridia had misinterperated what had happened.
"Merri, I didn't anger the child of Zeus. Everyone was gathered around this one girl who had hurt herself. I healed her, and then started to have a conversation with the group. I merely asked them all who their godly parents were. She didn't even introduce herself, she just waved goodbye, pulled up her hood, and then the clouds and thunder came. Noah went to check on her..."

The wind had been knocked out of Merridia's sails as she realized that she had been wrong in jumping to conclusions. She looked down at the ground, secretely embarassed.
"Oh. Well, I guess in that case, she's just kind of.....sad, or something. Hmmmmmmmm....
I don't really see how that's a threat...I mean, she COULD be moody, but it's more likely she's depressed....i dunno. All I can say is that if she's actually depressed, we're probably going to experience lots of stormy weather...."
In that second, rain drops started to fall gently overhead. Merridia moved her arms in a flowy motion, and in an instant, the rain passed over Caspian and Merridia as if they were under an invisible umbrella. As they walked, Merridia gave an apology to her brother, who gladly accepted it. They both went back to their naturally happy moods as Caspian started the conversation again.

"So, did you find who you were looking for? Do you know where our cabin is?"
"No. I couldn't find Melissa Terry. I asked this guy if he knew where she was, and i'm pretty sure he didn't know either..."
"What guy?"
"Uhhhh....Ethan. He's the son of Ares. He's nice..."
Caspian came to an abrupt halt, his jaw wide open. As Merridia looked back, his mouth curled into a smirk.
"....What?"
"You tell ME not to make any enemies, and yet you go talking, making friends with the son of ARES!! You nuts???"
"HE'S NOT BAD, OKAY!!! He didn't SEEM like he wanted to beat me into a pulp..."
"You know, i'm not going to be surprised if I find you DEAD by the end of the week!"
Merridia gave him a hard yet playful punch on his shoulder. There was a new step in Caspian's stride as they exited the shortcut, entering back into the main part of the camp.

"So, I guess we still need to figure out where our cabin is, huh?" Caspian asked.
"Yeah....I hate to defy father's orders, but maybe i can find Melissa later. Perhaps theirs someone around here who knows where we're located.....Maybe that guy over there knows!"
Merridia pointed to a kid wandering around aimlessly.
"Errrr....I dunno...he looks kind of sketchy," he replied, scratching the back of his head. Reluctance dripped from his voice.
"Oh, c'mon! Don't be ridiculous..."

They approached the guy, Merridia in front, and Caspian behind her.
"Excuse me," she said, "my name is Merridia Cerulean, and this is my brother, Caspian. We were just wondering if you had any information regarding our cabin number? Do you happen to know where we are located or who we are staying with?"
