Personal bodyguard to Neema, Tain is set apart from the other guards by his kind heart and earnest loyalty to C'elladore's royal family.
Because of his devotion to the royal family, Tain takes his job as a guard very seriously. His devotion to the royal family was his initial motivation to train hard, but as time wore on, he began to enjoy combat, practicing in his free time for fun. He knows that there's a time to work and a time to play. But when he's off-duty, he's just a restless, absent-minded kid who gets bored easily. Because of his constant need to have something to do, he has gotten quite creative at coming up with games to play. One of the reasons he is such a good guard to Neema is that he is always willing to run around or play with her, even when no one else will.
Kind and selfless, Tain is always there to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. However, he gets embarrassed when people try to repay him for a good deed. He is mild-mannered and not fond of attention at all, preferring a few close friends to a lot of acquaintances. Because he's a great listener and not much of a talker, he often finds himself acting as the shoulder for other people to cry on. This doesn't bother him one bit. While Tain is honest and speaks his mind, he is not unnecessarily mean. Whatever he says, he tries to say it in the most helpful way possible. Because of his carefulness in what he says, he often gets nervous and tongue-tied in social situations.
In short, Tain is just a sweet guy who likes to be there for others and have some fun in his life. His position as a guard is the one thing he is truly passionate about.
Like every guard in the royal palace, Tain carries a sword on him at all times, and he is very skilled with it. However, his weapon of choice is a scythe on a chain. He keeps some form of first aid on his person at all times, in case Neema should ever get hurt.
As far back in his childhood as he can remember, Tain was a street rat. He remembers nothing of his family or anything before he became one of the orphans that roamed C'elladore's streets. When he was six years old, the king and queen heard a loud crash and found him just inside the palace walls, on the brink of starvation. The terrified little boy admitted that he had found a way inside in an attempt to steal food for him and his friends, but he had broken a window on the way in. After a few moments of thought, the king told Tain that he would have to pay back the broken window by working as a palace guard. Of course, this was a blessing to Tain, and since then, he has worked hard to repay the king and queen for saving his life.
