Skye's power of illusion manipulation is remarkably straight forward. She can create and manipulate illusions that seem incredibly real to those who experience them. The illusions can be real, all encompassing, or they can affect just one of the senses. Those that only affect one sense are the most straightforward, the least draining, and the easiest to maintain. But she can make her target feel as though they are in a different world, completely disguise their reality from them. These illusions are the hardest to maintain, and she's extremely limited in how long she can sustain them before they drain her to the point of exhaustion. While she doesn't experience the illusions herself, for the more elaborate illusions, ones requiring multiple senses to be affected, she experiences what she calls "imprints". She can see ghosts of the illusion in her peripheral vision which can be distracting and disorientating as she fights. She has excellent control over her illusions, and can sustain some for hours at a time. When fighting, she can maintain multiple illusions at once without it affecting her fighting significantly, and frequently uses them to confuse and disorientate her enemies. She cannot, however, create illusions of things or people she has never seen, and requiring complex illusions for the first time requires significant concentration to ensure that she gets the details right. Leaving out the details such as shadows can make it easier for people to realise that it's an illusion, which can make it harder for her to sustain.

Her determination isnāt just out of a place to want to do good things. She was the youngest of four kids, all of whom had abilities, and all of whom achieved amazing things in their own respect. Despite the fact that Skye is incredibly powerful and has incredible control of her ability, her mother never sees her as good enough. Skye always has something to prove. She has to be the best, has to work the hardest, has to be the most successful, has to impress her mother, has to make the right decision. She puts incredible pressure on herself and the pressure has driven her to breaking point before.
On the surface, Skye can come across as arrogant, but in reality, sheās deeply insecure. Sheās hot-headed, sheās angry at the world, and the mammoth chip on her shoulder makes her defensive. She can be abrasive and difficult to work with, especially when sheās stressed or upset over something. When she was younger, she was a prankster, using her abilities to trick her friends. Now itās a surefire way for you to know if sheās annoyed with somebody. Her mother is the one person she wonāt dare use her abilities on. Her father was the one person she could always rely on, the one person who was proud of her, the one person who could always make her smile. He died in a freak attack over the summer, and itās left her feeling as though someone ripped something out of her. She doesnāt know what to do without him and feels like thereās nobody left on her side, that she should just give up now.

Skye's family was a testament to the genetic component of superhuman abilities. Both of her parents had superhuman abilities and all three of her siblings also had abilities. Her parents were elemental manipulators, earth and water. Her siblings had a variety of abilities, but all of them were uncommonly strong, and all of them were extremely well suited for combat. Her parents were academics by day, both researching superhumans and their biology, and heroes by night. They managed their shifts carefully, making sure there was always at least one of them at home with the kids. Given the overall strength of their family, her parents, her mother in particular, had high hopes for Skye.
Skye's abilities emerged at a younger age than her siblings. She was six and lamenting the fact that her parents wouldn't buy her a unicorn. Her father walked home from a job to find her playing with a unicorn; but as soon as he distracted her, the unicorn vanished. Through some experimentation, they discovered the exact nature of her ability. Her mother wouldn't admit it, but she was disappointed in Skye's ability. It wasn't inherently combative. Her father, however, never gave up on her. He taught her how to use her abilities to help others. How to make replicas of herself to confuse and disorientate. Her parents agreed to send her to the academy as they were limited in their capability to help her with her ability.
At first, she was hurt that she was being sent away. But the academy was the best thing to ever happen to her. She met people like her. People wanted her to do her best and didn't compare her to her siblings. There was people who could train her to fight using more traditional weapons, people who could really help her to use her abilities to her full capabilities. It quickly emerged how powerful Skye was for a mental based ability. This still wasn't quite enough for her mother, who wanted more, who Skye could never make happy. This only worsened when, while out on patrol, her father was killed. Skye was home, but had declined to join him. Her mother holds Skye responsible, even though she could have never known.
