His mother was once the object of many men's misplaced affections since the moment she was old enough to marry, so it wasn't long before she was wed by a suitor of her father's choosing. Even so, the countless confessions of undying love never seized even after her wedding. But she was a faithful wife not only because she knew the breaking of sacred vows would result in shame to her father's name. Being so unnaturally beautiful she grew accustomed to men of every shape and size, so it was easy. She remained a faithful wife for 7 years, until the inevitable finally occurred. She had caught the eye of THAT a man. A Fairie man who set upon her as she lay in bed alone while her husband participated in the annual Boar hunting competition. It was a tradition for all men of their village.
Now, she was used to the attention of beautiful men, but this time was different. This man who seemed to appear from thin air, who's hair was white as snow, and features too perfect for any normal man. It was as if he had come to her in her dreams. As a matter of fact that was exactly what she believed it to be, a dream, and in her dreams there were no consequences for a night of self indulgence. 9 months later out came Vod, and they were non the wiser. In most cases the blood of a Divine carries no power once mixed with the blood of a Glass. But Vod was one of the few special cases, and his snow white hair told the tail. The natural magic of the Divine retained it's power in her blood. The only problem was she still had no way of channeling it. For Satan this was not a problem.
In the dead of night her mother was visited once again by a man far from glass. However this would be her final encounter, for it was none other than a demon; one of Satan's personal servants sent to abduct baby Vod. His reward was the freedom to have his way with the mother, then devour her. And so he did. In order to channel the raw power in his blood, she needed a conduit. Satan provided that conduit in the form of a demon, powerful and hand picked to be sealed inside of him. With the demon inside he was thus able to channel and wield the natural power, and from then on he was raised to be one of Satan's three missionaries.

Vod is the prime example of insanity at it's best. As a result of the demon inside of him, he suffers from a severe case of split personality. He is inherently incredibly violent, and malicious. He has no problem with striking a person down, friend or foe, man or woman, child or elderly. He kills as she sees fit and she often does so on a whim, a simple fleeting thought that it was time for someones life to end. Vod is extremely unstable, and because of this he is feared by many, even though he is the only Glass missionary.
But then there's Rodderick; The shy, reserved, and quiet young man. It's likely to be his original personality seeing as his alter ego "Vod" tends to only manifest when he uses his power.
