Name
Azuma Shuuta

Nicknames
ZERO

More of a handle-name than a nickname, Azuma will introduce himself as Zero over his real name.

Age
15

Mutations
  • Precognition || The ability of futuristic sight. The user is able to see events taking place ahead of time, allowing them to change their actions accordingly. However, in Azuma's case, his precognitive ability only spans as far ahead as 5-10 seconds and is limited to his general vicinity. Though this ability is passive and always in effect, a person with fast enough movements can easily overcome the reaction speed of the user.

  • Astral Projection || The ability of an out-of-body like experience. The user is able to project their consciousness out of their physical body, forming an invisible, ghost-like self that is free to roam. However, as the user's consciousness is mobile, their physical body remains static, leaving them very vulnerable and exposed.

    Face Claim
Banri Watanuki || Inu x Boku SS

ImageImageEye Color
A deep blue that changes into a deep red when his abilities are active. As his precognition ability his passive and always active, his eyes are always occasionally blinking between red and blue.

Hair Color
Originally black, but was bleach-dyed to a bright blonde.

Height and Weight
5'8", 120 lbs.

Appearance
Azuma is pretty much an average looking male, with the exception of having eyes that constantly change color. His messy hair is bright blonde, obviously bleached dyed, with a little bit of accessory on the left side. Your typical snooty character, he appears to have absolutely no interest in the ideas and actions of others, often having a scowl on his face. He's the kind of person who would rather be independent.

Other Features
He's got several bruises and scars from fights, proof that he isn't at all a people person.

Clothing
He usually just wears his school uniform which consists of a black uniform jacket with pulled up collars, a white t-shirt underneath and black pants. Although, he will occasionally wear more casual clothes which substitutes the black jacket for a white one.

Personality

To accurately describe Azuma in one word, stubborn. He is unwilling to make compromises that he believes aren't worthwhile. Due to this, he is more of an independent person. Believing that other people will just slow him down, he refuses to work with others, unless given a valid reason, and will solo tasks no matter how difficult. Parts of the reason he doesn't like working with others is issues with trust and not liking to rely on others. Being a person of independence, he never enjoyed the thought of giving work to others, as teamwork would suggest. Due to his mutations, he found it hard to confide in others as he wasn't sure whom he could trust. However, because of that mistrust, when he finds someone he believes he can truly trust, another side of him opens up. The same goes for those which he respects. While he portrays himself as the nonchalant, uncaring kind of person, he truly wants to help others. Though he'd never willingly admit it.

Weaknesses

  • Reaction speed || Despite training himself in CQC, Azuma can still be beat by opponents who are faster than him as they can outpace his precognition ability.
  • People in Danger || Despite acing cold-hearted, Azuma will drop whatever it is he's doing if it means rescuing someone in danger. This is a fatal flaw of his, but he doesn't like the idea of leaving random people in harms way.
  • Gambling || Azuma is exited by the prospect of gambling and is always enjoying a good bet. However, he will often bet a lot and if he loses, which he believes he never will, things can get pretty dire for him.

Fears

  • Fast Rides || Since his precognitive ability is passive and always active, going on certain rides, such as a roller coaster or drop tower, are absolutely nauseating. With his ability, it would be like experiencing the ride twice within seconds of each other. He had to learn this the hard way of course.
  • Being Unable to Help || He absolutely perishes at the thought that there will be someone he needs to help, but is unable to. The very thought of it puts him into a semi-depressed mood.
  • Death || Even though he has the abilities that can at least help him live a while longer by avoiding dangers, Azuma still fears the unknown after death as it is a future he cannot foresee.

Favorite Color
The calming orange of the sunset

ImageHistory

Azuma was born and raised in Japan under the family name of Kurome. After an argument with his family, Azuma left and took the first plane he could find. This plane happened to be to America. He snuck onto the plane and never looked back. He was a quick learner so he studied the English language on the flight. He had learned enough to get by and that was that. Upon arriving in America, he changed his family name to Shuuta, renouncing all ties he had to his old family. A few weeks later he was settled in and going to school. However, being a foreigner, his school life was hard and he became an independent student. He wasn't sure when it started, but he began to have these premonitions. At least, that's what they were often referred as. Soon enough, he began to understand that what he had was precognition, the ability to see into the future. Granted, it was only several seconds into the future. He used his mutation to his advantage and started fights with the people who tormented him. He got in trouble with the police for this numerous times.

His first out-of-body experienced happened a month later. The mutation had kicked in one day as he was walking home, forcing his consciousness out of his body and into the world. At this occurrence he noticed a person being robbed. As he was currently using his astral projection, he couldn't help. After a while, the ability wore off and he was back in his body. Though that would make one happy, he couldn't help but feel defeated since he couldn't help the person in need. It was at that point where he started training himself in close quarters combat. With his astral projection he scouted out locations where crimes were being committed. With his precognition ability, he ran in and saved the day, or so he felt. He felt amazing with his actions and ended up making a name for hiself. When he went out to help people as he did, he would put on a mask and refer to himself as Zero. He became relatively known within his area. However, he became too well known.

Soon enough, the government had sent people to retrieve him. He was at home at the time and, thanks to his ability, he was able to leave seconds before they broke in. With the help of his abilities and his training he was able to avoid being captured by jumping and vaulting over stairs and onto roofs. He managed to escape them for a while, but he was eventually caught. He got caught and was taken away to the Military Base and has been there for a while. Naturally, he avoided contact with most of the other captives. He played the role of the perfect captive and always did what he was told, but he was always on guard and looking for his ticket out.

Normally, a person would be pleased with receiving living quarters, food, water and a roof over their head at no cost. However, this wasn't a normal situation. This place wasn't some sanctuary, some commonplace for the lucky. It's a hospital for the broken. Rather, hospital where people become broken would be more apt of a description. That being said, Azuma considered himself one of the lucky ones. Well, as lucky as one could be given the current circumstances. Most of the others were required to endure unimaginable amounts of pain, poking and prodding of needles and knives. He never spoke much to the others, but he knew this much. How did he know this? One of his two abilities is known as Astral Projection, an extrasensory perception ability. Thanks to that ability, he was able to move his consciousness through areas of the base during the times he was locked in his cell. It was at those times he was able to see the happenings of others. Originally, he used it as a means of searching for an escape, he still does, but the security is tight and it would be difficult. In the end he used it as a means of passing time.

That was exactly what he was doing now. His turn at the experimentation wasn't until a while longer, so he killed some time. While his physical body was lying down on a sorry excuse for a bed, his mind was wondering the halls, occasionally peeking through the doors, literally through them, and watching what went down. From fire, to ice, to needles, to blades, he's seen much of what the facility had to offer. But still no way of making an escape.

After a bit more exploring the familiar areas, he returned to his physical body. Nothing new as usual, so he went back to his usual routine. Propping open a book, which he had to persistently ask for, and placing it face-up on the ground, getting down on his hands, face in front of the book, he began to do push-ups while he read. While he wasn't the best when it came to physical combat, Azuma believed that having a physically fit body was important, especially if he wanted to escape this hellhole. As such, he trained himself. While he was doing his push-ups, his eyes flashed a deep crimson. Of course, they always did that every few seconds or so. It was his second ability, a passive one, precognition. This ability allowed him to see 5-10 seconds into the future and is always active. Thanks to his ability, he saw the guards coming several seconds before they really would. With a sigh, he picked up his book and placed in down on his bed. After doing so he moved over to the wall opposite the opening glass and leaned against it, crossing his arms.

As if on cue, the glass had slid open to allow a pair of guards step in. "Oi, Esper. It's time." One of the guards said, obviously displeased with his job. Azuma glared at the guard, but just scoffed. He repeatedly told the guards to refer to him as Zero, but they always laughed at it. Instwad of the requested name, they constantly referred to him as Esper as his mutations were both related to ESP. His eyebrows furrowed as his eyes shifted from red to blue once again. This time he saw them in the halls, taking a different route than usual. "There's a change of plans today?" He asked, slightly grinning. "I don't suppose it's for a party to celebrate my release back into the world, is it?" The other guard snorted. "Funny, but no. There's something different going on today. You'll be doing different stuff than usual. Now let's go." The guard replied, obviously not wanting to continue the conversation. With a sigh, Azuma followed the guards out. A change is something that doesn't happen often here. At least, not that he's seen. It could be a new implement of torture for him, or perhaps they were going to kill him. Though, if those were happening, he'd know. In the end, he was curious as to what awaits him today.

Ember stared out of the glass silently observing the usual procedures of the facility. Her gloved hands were placed neatly in her lap as she sat on the edge of the slab in her room. She watched the usual struggles of mutants failing to realise it was pointless.
She'd long since got past that stage. It hadn't been a quick process but after a few months of consistent torture she'd given up and learned to accept her lot. It had been a while since they'd physically forced her to do something, now she just complied, which had given her an infamous reputation. Ember would have grimaced at this thought, if she'd been able to move mouth. This was one of the few things she had put up a long good fight for- the awful metallic mask. It prevented her opening her mouth, thereby saving the guards until they had time to play with her gift.

Ember tried not to think of the other thing she'd struggled for and failed.

Out of all the mutants in the facility, Ember felt she was the most alone. For her it was not a us and them feeling. Yes, she was a mutant, but she'd killed many of them and after that no one in their right mind wanted to be near her. Ember told herself she didn't care, and did a darn good job of showing it. There was no point in self-pity, everyone here had their struggles. And so she lived, or should she put it: survived.

Just like so many today, soon she'd be taken to her 'training'. Since her submission they'd realised she would be more useful if trained. None of them dared assume she wouldn't take out one of them out if she had the chance, but she had made the perfect threat and executioner.

There was a few options for her training today. Possibly she'd be put another stupid maze again and timed to see how well she could use the air to move faster. If she'd had the chance she would have told them to give up- she didn't have the reflexes to stop herself from smashing into walls. Really that ability was only useful in long stretches of open areas. The other option was another silence test. Make her practice silencing all sorts of noises and people. To honest, this one was rather fun. That was when she succeeded. Until then it just gave Ember splitting headaches as she couldn't stand the high decibel sounds.
And then there was her least favourite. Which she refused to think about.

Suddenly two guards appeared peering in through the glass at her. She eyed the younger one. He obviously hadn't been here before. Or at the very least she hadn't met him.

"So this is our Wraith." The older one droned to the younger one.

The young man leaned in closer to get a better look, before raising an eyebrow.

"She doesn't look like much. You're telling me she's responsible for the cadavers last week?"

Ember saw red, and her eyes followed suit. The younger one stepped back a few paces.

"Pretty eyes eh?" The other guard chuckled as he entered the pin for her room, before turning back to Ember. "Right you know the drill, follow on behind."

As the door opened, Ember padded forward on her bare feet following the guards down the corridor. After that the guards simply ignored her, continuing their conversation.

"So today basically we are going to show you how to get info you want out of em." The guard jerked a thumb at Ember without so much glancing at her. "Wraith's been useful in that respect, as I was telling you before she got the knack for getting em to speak, little traitor. All the others seem to group together, you know, being the same kind of animals I suppose. Her? She's a lone ranger."

Ember's irises melted to light grey before quickly returning to black. So it was to be the worst kind of test. Typical.
As they walked past a young boy with piercing blue eyes, Ember saw his irises turned to red. Her eyes widened slightly, so she was not the only one with colour-changing irises. Then as they returned back to blue, Ember carefully replaced her neutral mask. Normally she made a point to ignore specifics about people. It made it easier. Now she carefully avoided his eyes. At the very least he'd probably know somewhat of some of the deaths she was responsible for, at worst he could be the next one.
