Introduction
Welcome to Kingdom of the Strange: a text-based RP adventure. (WIP[?])
The story:
The S. T. Ranger Academy for Gifted Youths (or as the students call it, The Strange House) was originally created to provide a safe environment for children of all ages who were gifted with extraordinary abilities, such as telekinesis, enhanced strength, shapeshifting, and anything in between.
However, the academy's motives have begun to be called into question. The faculty has become much more urgent in its search for new students and now strives more than ever to "protect" these students from the outside world until their Graduation. From within the academy, a resistance arises; a group of students determined to unravel the mysteries that surround them.
They are known as The Kingdom, you are a new student, and it's time to pick a side.
The game:
This game is similar to a text-based computer game, meaning that I, the GM, will describe the scenes and situations, and you, the player, will respond accordingly. Though this RP follows a set storyline, your character's role in it will depend completely on the decisions you make.

The dean walks you into his office. “The S. T. Ranger Academy for Gifted Youths." he says "Quite the mouthful isn't it? No wonder most of the students just call it The Strange House.
"As you might have guessed, this is a school for kids of all ages that are a bit... different. Different how, you ask? Well, you'll just have to find out. Anyway, since you're here I'm sure you're a little outside the norm yourself. Now now, don't be shy. What's your name? Oh wait! I can just read it off of your Student Application! Now let's see here..."
He flips through some papers in a manila folder.
“Oh that's right! Well let me be the first to welcome you. I think you're going to fit in just fine here. That is, if you stay out of trouble. What do I mean by that? I assumed you'd heard by now, you know, about a certain group of delinquent students that have been causing problems around here. I'm talking about The Kingdom of course! A regular bunch of ingrates they are. You'd do well to stay away from them. But what am I worrying about? You look like a good kid to me. Here."
He hands you your Room Key and Class Schedule.
"If you ever need any help with anything, just come and visit me in my office. My door is always open!”

Rouge Skeffington takes the items given to him with a small smile. He was nervous to meet the other students, but still a little excited. "Thank you," Ro says shifting in his position, anxiously. He brushed a piece of his blond hair out of the way of his glasses. "Y-Yeah, I will," Ro smile was more forced this time, as he was thinking more about his parents.
Were they glad he had left? He he had been nothing but trouble after they had found out about his abilities, and Rouge was ashamed. Even though he knew today was no day to start worrying himself, he couldn't really truly help it. After all, this was supposed to be his escape. Ro released a small sigh, still trying to keep a happy look.
"So should I just head to my room now?" He was slightly confused where to go now, even being a rather smart kid he was not the sharpest tool in the shed, easily nervous and the like.

"Go right ahead." says the dean, his smile unfaltering. "The boys' rooms are in the West wing; it's straight ahead so you can't miss it. I don't believe you have an assigned roommate yet, but we are expecting a few more new students so that might change. Oh and I'm sure one of the other students can show you to your first class after you're settled. It's your first day so take as much time as you need to figure everything out."
He walks you back out into the hallway. Sure enough, the hallway ahead of you is marked with a large W on a bronze plaque. Your room key is marked similarly with a 3W, indicating your room assignment.

Rouge looks at the large bronze W over the doorway, then glances down at his key and back down the hall. "Room three?" He mutters softly, he adjusted the bag around his shoulder. Tossing the key up in the air he catches it quickly, glancing up at the dean before heading down the hallway. Room 10W. Room 9W. Room 8W . And so on, he names the rooms in his head, until they come to the room marked 3W. He smiles again and goes to open the door, preparing the key. He unlocks it and peers inside.

The room is a pretty standard-looking dorm room, albeit very empty. There are two beds on either side of the room, a large dresser, and two small desks. There's a neat stack of school supplies; books, pencils, paper, and such; on one of the desks and the bed closest to it is already neatly made in preparation for your arrival. The opposite side of the room looks much more bare.
You can hear people walking around out in the hall.

Rouge smiles lightly, walking in hesitantly. "Looks n-nice," he says setting his bag next to the desk. He intertwines his fingers together in his classic nervous way, looking down before back up at the dean. He listens to the voices coming from the hall, and he exhales lightly. "All these supplies are mine?" Ro asks looking over at the desk. He pulled his thin gloves from his jacket pocket, looking down at them and wondering if he should put them on.

Without missing a beat, the dean explains that everything has been prepared for your arrival. The Academy strives to accommodate its students in every way possible. He dismisses himself soon after. As he walks back to his office, passing students slow their stride and stand up a little straighter.
A group of boys loitering at the end of the hall pull out notebooks and make themselves look busy until he passes, then go back to chattering loudly and laughing when he's gone. One of them seems to notice you for a second, but he doesn't say anything. Maybe it was just your imagination.

Rouge wondered if he should address the students that stood at the end of the hall. He peeked outside the doorway, glancing at the single student who seemed to have noticed him. What are they here for? He wondered, looking back down at his gloves, he would hate to brush against someone causing one boy to strike another with a sudden rage. His skill was always rather amusing in grade school. He could make a student cry just with one touch. Finally, Ro pulled on the white gloves and he made his way slowly and nervously down the hall, he wanted to say hello, but he could not bring himself to say the words.

Among the group there is a pudgy redhead, a dark-eyed boy with a bowlcut and both ears pierced, and, the first to notice your arrival, a tall, older looking young man who smiles at you like an old friend, though you can't remember ever meeting him. He waves and you and doesn't seem at all put-off by your nervousness.
"Hey, there you are." he says, again with an odd level of familiarity. "I was wondering when they were gonna put someone new in that room."

The odd welcome of sorts put him off even more than he already was, the warm tone of the other young man made him feel as though he had forgotten something and gave him a overwhelming wave of anxiety. Rouge stood there for a moment trying to will himself to say something, anything, but he just stared at the group with almost a scared and bewildered expression. He had forgotten how to speak! Say something! He pleaded to himself. What should I say? Ro locked his fingers together again squeezing his hands so tight through the gloves he began to loose circulation. His mouth was left open, as he stared at the other boy with a horrified and frightened expression, as if a spot light was on him and he could not breath. Finally he was able to look at the floor, embarrassed. He was never normally this anxious, but what else would he except?

The redhead starts to snicker at your shyness but the bowlcut boy cuts him off with a light smack to the back of his head. The tall one continues to look unbothered by both your silence and his companions behavior.
"My name's Jeff Carman. I'm a senior so if there's anything you need just ask me." He practically glows with pride as he says this. The others roll their eyes almost in sync at this, but if he notices he doesn't show it. "I was friends with one of the guys who used to be in your room, but I guess they both graduated. I'm glad the school's not just leaving it empty anymore."

Rouge released his grip on his hands when he felt his finger tips grow cold. He looked back up, swallowing lightly. Though his expression did show he was happy in any sort of way, it was far less frightened than before. Everybody always seemed to be offering their help, but Rouge didn't mind so much, he might need it at some point. "Um," he began hiding his gloves beneath the grey jacket. "Well, I'm Ro, and uh, thank you for the welcome. S-Seem to be getting quite a few of those." Rouge kicks at the ground as a way to calm down a bit more.

"I'm not surprised. Everyone's really nice here." Jeff says, a little too enthusiastically. Even his friends look a little put-off and quickly mumble mimicked welcomes before making a couple of generic excuses to leave the group. "Do you need any help finding your classes?" he asks, oblivious to his friends' departure. "This school's pretty huge. I've been here for years and I still don't think I've seen every part of it, but I know my way around better than most."

Rouge met eyes with the older boy again, Ro only being a sophomore himself. He put his left gloved hand over his right shoulder, squeezing it to release some tension. "That would be really nice," he his able to maintain a small smile by this point. "I mean if it's no trouble," Ro said this as more of an after thought to be polite. "I sh-should probably grab my bag and supplies first," he says half to himself, his hand traveling up to rub the back of his neck.

"It's no trouble. I've got a free period right now so I'm not doing anything. Grab your stuff and we'll find your first class." You notice that Jeff doesn't seem to have any school supplies of his own with him, but he doesn't appear at all bothered by this. "Oh hey, I bet the dean's already explained some stuff about this school to you, but you should know that there's actually a good few differences between here and a normal school. They're all good differences of course. This is a school for the gifted after all!"

"Oh, yeah," Ro nods, "I should know as much as that," he chuckled dryly. Rouge went back to his dorm which was still open and scooped up his bag. This bag was a gift from his parents before they left for the Strange House. Sighing briefly he took the supplies one by one and arranged them neatly into the white and black shoulder bag. As he left the dorm he closed it behind himself, key in hand and looked back over at Jeff. He hesitated at first but then brought himself to ask, "Why are you here?" He soon realized that was a bit rude, almost as if he were referring to this school as a prison. He began rubbing the back of his neck again. "Well, I m-mean, what is your ability?..."

"Foresight." Jeff says, tapping the spot next to his right eye. "Having some kind of psychic ability is actually pretty common around here. I can see glimpses of things in the future, but I can't tell when they'll happen. But my abilities have got a lot stronger since I came here. It's all about focus, and my teachers say I'm really close to qualifying for Graduation now." That prideful look returns as he leads you down a hall of classrooms, every room nearly identical.
"See, here your grades and classes depend mostly on how strong your ability is, and when you get good enough at whatever you do, you get to go to Graduation." He stops at a door that looks more worn down than the rest. There's a piece of duct tape partially covering a deep crack in the wood. "This is your Group Studies class. It's kinda like 'superpowers for dummies'. New students all have to take this class for a while, but if you're good at what you do, you'll get transferred into someplace cooler real soon. Oh hey, what is it you, ya know, 'do'?"

"Oh," Rouge glanced into the class for a moment, noticing the class was definitely more beaten up then the rest, he looked back at Jeff, "Guess it's called Empathetic contagion, learned the name of it not too long ago," he begins with a neutral look, not to proud of the ability much anymore, seemed far more exciting when he was little. Psychic abilities sounded interesting. He remembered learning about the chemicals in his skin and pores that caused the reaction. "I can touch someone and either make them feel the same way I do, or make them feel how I want them to." Ro looks down at his gloved hands. Observing the backs then the palms. "It's why I wear gloves." He then lifted his hands and wiggled his rather feminine fingers at Jeff as if he had just told a scary story. After putting his arms back down he glances around.

She asks. She was actually a bit nervous about this school. First of all, she was going to need some help finding out about her classes, seeing that she couldn't read the paper, also, it would be a little hard to locate her room, since she couldn't actually see the room number itself. But she would figure it out, right? All she knew, that she wasn't going to ask for help...That would be giving in...right?

The dean heads back to his office. Inside the room is two beds, one neatly made and the other with a distinctly slept-in messiness. The messier side of the room is all but covered in little trinkets and toys that rattle just slightly with every step you take on the creaking wooden floorboards. There are two desks, and the one closest to you has a neat stack of school supplies waiting for you.
There are voices and footsteps coming from the hall.
The dean heads back to his office. Inside the room is two beds, one neatly made and the other with a distinctly slept-in messiness. Just a heads up: I'll be starting school again soon and may not be able to contribute as often. I hope you all understand. I'll still try and write as often as I can.

skycatdog- Well I can tell you right now that your character has been accepted, and to start, please read the first post under the "posting" tab or "activity" tab, as it's sort of an intro to all new characters. After reading that, you can begin whenever you like. And if you look under my username on the right here, you should see a PM button, should there be anything you want to ask me privately. --->

Castiel_Told_Me_To- Since we have a shortage of characters right now, I'd say go for it, but perhaps keep Ro as your "main character" and make the other a background character (maybe more NPCish?) who is already in the academy.
PS that actually sounds fairly similar to an idea I had for waaay later (Spoilers!) but go right ahead. This sounds like it could turn out interesting.

Hiya! I already have Ro as one of my characters but I would like to make another. Should I refrain from making another character?
And if I do make one, should I just start with the first post, or should my character already be involved?
(Anyways! I have a great idea for a bliss inducement ability, basically the person is capable of making the victim see pretty lights and relax them)

A quick tip: new characters should read the first post of the RP, as it addresses and sets the scene for all new players.
