Name: Aeraki
Age: "As old as wind itself"
Description: Unlike the impression most would surmise from a fae, she retains human form and size--though perhaps with more of an air of enchantment around her. Her hair is a fresh, green color--tumbling down to her knees in length. Ornaments hang within her locks, tying off a portion to the side slightly. Her eyes resemble the hue of burning embers with their vibrant mix of an orange-yellow. Her wings are the color of gold, elegant markings etched into the very design of their surfaces. These markings also coat her skin, shielding the more delicate parts of her female form and coating her cheeks. She does not feel the need to don clothes, feeling she is hidden sufficiently enough from view. However, when the mood suits her (that is to say, she receives orders to), she can wear loose clothing. She'll only do this on the most formal of occasions and only to appease visual standards.
Protector, King, or Other Race: Water Guardian and Protector to the Air King
Ability: Water Manipulation
Power: Aeraki is an odd sort, as she exists between two elemental planes of earth and air. The main basis of her powers come from the element that resides between the two--water. It would be inaccurate to say that her powers are "air affiliated". She cannot create giant torrents of wind nor can she summon storms. Instead, her powers reside in the wispy pen-brush she carries, or rather, she channels her powers through said device.
There are two types of molecules that have the potential to travel anywhere--air and water. Due to her in-between state and her abilities running parallel to water, she is able to manipulate these molecules to paint any picture and breathe life into it. Do not be fooled by the colorful way in which these paintings may appear, for they are just as deadly and lethal as the real thing. They do not possess any sort of volume, however, and are just as two-dimensional as they would appear on the canvas. It would take quite a bit of mana to add dimension to her paintings. Water is the essence of all life, naturally, it has the power to both bestow and remove life from a creature. Though she would not be able to bring back the dead, she can use her water to purge all taint and wounds from a person. By reverse, she can use it to inflict injury and poison.
Of course she can also use her wings for flight, but that is a given. However, her control over flight is not infinite. She uses up small amounts of magical energy to keep herself afloat. When she has depleted her reserves, she is forced to assume a fully human form devoid of wings and painted markings.
With a stunning perception into the ways of things, it is surprising how casual and flippant she can be about what she is privy to. Aeraki doesn't see the need to get overly worked up about much of anything, the world isn't going to stop turning in the next five minutes. Plenty of time to work up the effort to bother putting interest in other things. She has the tendency to have a short-term attention span. One moment, something can greatly catch her intrigue and the next, it is as mundane as every other thing. One would think that as a painter of life, she would be more settled upon things but she is prone to being flighty.
Ironically, she is always very aware of details right down to a tee--in fact, there is barely anything that escapes her notice. She is an artist after all, and such things fall into proper place in her mind. This observation can turn into an invasion of personal boundaries, for which she has no regard for, and will often intrude upon the barriers of others without realizing it. For her, life is one big overlaying mystery and she's solving each small riddle one step at a time. That is, if she cares to stick around long enough to figure out the answers.
She has the habit of constantly painting, despite whether or not she should be giving her attentions to the current events. She is completely conscious of the events, even if she chooses not to make comments on them. This negligence and seeming abundance of nonchalance can make her difficult to get along with. The key is realizing that in her mind, there is no need to be concerned with such earthly matters such as "material" things. Everything in the world happens for a reason, though one may not know why or how at the time.
It may honestly seem as if she doesn't take her responsibilities seriously but she absolutely does and can turn surprisingly passionate when it comes to defending her king. She doesn't develop emotional bonds very easily due to her nature but when she does, she is an extremist with these feelings and will go to any length to see them through. This is a matter that must be made very clear, for she can feel very deeply for another if she feels it is worth it to do so. Just because she brushes things off most of the time does not make her one incapable of emotions. She captures life in her pictures and can portray the same vibrancy in her interactions, if given the chance and actual desire to try.
For the most part though, she will just appear as a lazy girl who has no interest in others besides the pictures that can be painted from their images. She has the habit to fall asleep just about anywhere, even in the very middle of conversation if she becomes bored enough. And gods help the people that are near her if she is still holding her pen-brush in her hand when she sleep. At times, she may just subconsciously began to create images from her dreams if she has enough stored up power at the time to do so.
History/Bio: The origins behind a fae's birth have always remained a mystery, though there have been quite a number of theories behind it. Suffice to say, she simply came to exist into the world. Aeraki had always had a stunning adoration for life, for the creatures that existed in the world, and strove to re-create what she saw. Over time, this was how she began to channel her abilities. She is greatly attuned to the world and the callings of life energy that she duplicates within her brush strokes. In fact, there has never quite been a painter like Aeraki and perhaps that is what drew the Air King to her in the first place.
Originally, she used to be one of the water king's protectors--she was on modest terms with the other protector and respected her king with a graciousness that suited her position. It was not until she came in contact with the air king that things began to change.
Brendon was intrigued by her abilities when she first displayed them before the court and had made up his mind to acquire her, through one mechanism or another. Aeraki's abilities of creation were and are unrivaled and with a sustained source of mana, her creations can literally live for as long as their original canvas remains intact. This was what drew the king to her powers, as she could potentially create for him a vast working network of eyes and ears, silent workers that would report back to him.
Brendon was a smart man and through some beguilement and carefully chosen words to the other water protector and king, he left the water kingdom with his first protector. As for Aeraki's loyalties to him, well, she will claim that he is her king but will refuse to speak of the time before her stay at the air kingdom.
Other: Aeraki sees all creatures as merely other entities and, ultimately, can be classified as being genderblind. It is true she can register "male" or "female" but this does not really equate in her mind to be of any great importance. As such, she might as well be labelled as a pansexual--to her, if she loves, she loves-, utterly regardless of social norms or gender.
