Ryan was born the daughter of a Marine and a Homeopathic mother (I.e.-Licorice root cures headaches while Advil murders the liver.) She has Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy type 5. She cannot feel pain, temperature, or touch. Resulting in a dangerous way of life. She was home schooled until tenth grade. She turned 18 and signed up for the OPD, Orlando Police Department, Where she became an active member of the force and took classes in hand to hand combat in her spare time. She hide her disorder, cursing in pain if something looked like it should of hurt. Hissed if something was cold and grunted if something was hot. Years of observing people who reacted to pain, temperatures, and touches gave her time to copy and try her best to fit in.
Ryan has been to school for children teaching about firearms. She was the Martial Arts teacher for her Marine base as well. Her grandfather taught her how to shoot the M-60 7.62mm MG in the CH-21, UH-34, and UH-1 helicopters, all Vietnam based, although she is able to accurately shoot the current models. She prefers the side door gun, not the tail since it is hard to maneuver. Being the door gunner, the helicopter is basically yours, you allow the pilot to fly it. You must know the mechanics of your aviation system, which Ryan enjoys fixing rotors and engines. At 24, Ryan took the Combat Life Saver Force, which is basic in-field medicine that is mandatory for the Corp.
Couple years later joined the Marine Corp. During the 8 months of Boot Camp she met her husband Corrigan. Both where deployed to Afghanistan. During an IED sweep, Corrigan stumbled upon one, killing him. Ryan stood next to him during the blast, which cost her 5 pound of metal and over 100 stitches to sew up her wound. She was sent to Rehabilitation for the movement of her left hip and leg, there she found out she was pregnant with a boy, but lost the child in a miscarriage due to stress. The military noticed her lack of reaction to pain and discharged her immediately. She became a heavy drinker to cope. Now years later she has stopped most drinking has been able to live a mostly normal day to day life.
My life is hard, my world smashed to shit. But I slapped on a Band-aid, pulled my helmet on and big girl panties and pulled my shit together. Ain't nobody got time for that.
