the Savanna

The smell of antelope was very strong now. Riani lowered into a crouch and crept through the grass. She picked out a small female that was a just outside of the group. She was almost holding her breath as she approached, and when she reached the edge of the tall grass got ready to pounce. The doe lifted it's head and Riani froze for a moment until it relaxed back into grazing. Riani smiled and waited another moment before leaping into the air after the antelope.

Rogue froze when the antelopes lifted their head and started running. She growled, irritated by this. It meant that there was another predator in the area. That's when she saw the young princess leap after one of the doe's. Rogue didn't bother to run after the herd. She was going to watch Riani hunt.

Riani landed on the doe's back and dug her claws in to its shoulders. Haha, yes! She thought, but the doe was stronger than she looked and she started trying to buck the princess off. Riani was caught by surprise but her claws kept her from slipping off. She tried to lean and pull the doe to the ground as she tried to reach her throat. The doe stumbled and rolled over on Riani, knocking her off and knocking the wind out of the young lioness. Riani gasped for air as she spawled on the grass. Her head throbbed as she tried to collect herself, tlling her that she had to have hit her head on something. Her vision was blurry andher other senses were going a little haywire with each throb of pain, but she could tell the deer had gotten away. She's hurt, I'll catch her later. Riani thought woozily.

Rogue snorted when she watched the scene unroll. Where are the terrible twos when you need them. The Princess is all alone and everyone wouldn't even notice until sundown. Rogue thought as she stood. The terrible twos were what she called Jack and Ty. She walked over to Riani and looked down at her with a superior look about her. "It was your first hunt wasn't it?"

Riani saw Rogue and crouched defensively. "Why does it matter to you? Huh?" Riani snarled. Rogue had been her friend once but now she was an outsider and dangerous. Riani's head still spun a little as she locked her eyes on Rogue. "You aren't supposed to be here, Rogue." Riani stated as a morning breeze whistled through the gorge not to far away.

Rogue's ears twitched. "Fine. I was just going to tell you to go for her legs. If you break her leg, she can't get up. A down antelope is a dead antelope." She said as she stood and walked away. When she was a mile away she smelt the air and started to walk back to where she last saw Jack and Ty. She was sure they were in the area. There was a dead zebra closer to her and another one farther away. She smiled. "Fine. I'll just eat and wait for them to come back." She walked over to the zebra and started tearing into the dead flesh.

Riani watched her go silently. In truth, she did not mind Rogue being there, but if anyone else saw and reported to her father, Rogue could be killed for breaking the law. Riani sat in the grass stubbornly for a moment before looking in the direction the deer had gone. She sighed and stood shaking off the dull throb in the back of her head. She trotted along following the deer's beaten path. She was to stubborn to say it out loud but she felt Rogue was probably right about the legs, so she raced further down along the gorge after the herd. She was going to try again.

Rogue was now lying around with a plump belly. She was tired of waiting around for Ty and Jack. She let out a roar for them, hoping they'd hear her and come back. She didn't know if Riani was still hunting alone but she was thinking of going and kidnapping her or killing her. Sometime to scare Sora.

Riani chased after the herd until they stopped at edge of the gorge. She crouched down before pouncing on the doe she had injured. She rammed into it trying to knock it off it's feet. It worked but not without her almost knocking the doe over the edge. Sh esnapped the doe's neck quickly and then decided to eat some. She ate more than half the doe and felt drowsy afterwards. She stretched out in the grass and closed her eyes; shewas asleep within seconds.

Rogue, bored and tired of waiting around for the terrible twos walked under a tree and lied down. She yawned and flicked her ears forward then backward. There was no one around to attack her while she was sleeping so she rested her head on her massive paws. She closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
