Kaito Shibata's Story

Matthew and Felicity were riding on the bus from their aunt's house with Mira somewhere on the crowded bus. Of course, Matt picked the outside seat. He wanted to protect his sister, he couldn't let what happened to him happen to his sister. It was almost insane, the teasing he went through at his old school. All Matt wanted was to protect his sister, Felicity, from the bitter truth. That he would need to pay millions of dollars to get his face replaced. And he couldn't let that happen to his sister.

Felicity was writing in her notebook, on the other hand. She was oblivious to the world around her, like a child. Every so often, she would look out the window, but other than that, she was writing in her notebook she got from her from her parents before the twins left the USA. Matt had gotten a notebook as well, he only kept it in his suitcase, never taking it out except for today, when he put it in his backpack for note-taking. She had a feeling he was mad at their parents, but she didn't talk to him about it. She didn't want to make her brother mad at her.

Mira was a student from Finland. The twins didn't know much about her.

Kaito looked out the window as the bus began to move again. He could see a few new faces here and there, but he didn't make a move to greet or welcome them. That wasn't his job. He just stayed quiet as the buz of the multiple conversations around him enveloped him in there dome. Kaito wasn't necessarily a loner or anti-social, he had a few friends. He rarely made new ones though. He usually didn't even talk to anyone he didn't already know. But none of his friends rode the bus, they all walked in there little huddle, almost always late to school.

Kaito sighed, Back to school once again... he thought to himself. Maybe if I stay a bit more alert this year...maybe, just maybe I'll find him...The one responsible... Kaito looked at his watch. Maybe it's time I stopped...got back to my life...

Kimi sits in the back of the bus, alone, as per her usual routine. It is the first day of high school for her. She wouldn't be going far, however, the middle school she attended is right next to her high school and she has been in the building many a time for some of her clubs and lunch periods. She fiddles nervously with the bow on the front of her uniform as she gazes out the window at the passing buildings and cars. Fixing her pink sweater, she stands as the bus comes to a stop. She exits the bus quietly and looks at a piece of paper she is holding which tells her the locker number and combination that is hers. She heads to the lockers and removes her shoes, putting on her school approved ones and sliding the others into the box. She also places her lunch bag into the box and closes it.
"First class is homeroom...room 103...guess I'd better go there then..." she quietly says to herself. As she begins to walk to her class, she gets bumped into by an upperclassman.
"Watch it, freak!" he yells as he continues to run down the hall.

Akihiko decides today he would jog to school. He needed to get his stamina up if he was going to do all the sports he was needed in this year. The coaches had asked him to join other sports teams because of his success in the ones he had participated in last year. This was great and all, and he couldn't say no, not with he scholarships on the line, but when would he have time for a social life. That was important in his high school life. This year, however, was the most important year. Junior year is when all the tests happen that will determine your graduation GPA and if you even get any scholarships. In any case, he ran off his worries as he started his journey to school.

When he arrived, Akihiko was greeted by the waves and voices of underclassmen girls.
"Oh! Good morning Aki-senpai!"
"Aki-senpai's here! He looks so cute!"
"I wonder if he has a girlfriend! Oh I wish I could be her!"
This was normal for him. Due to his success in sports, he was quite popular with the girls in school, mostly the underclassmen, as then looked up to him. Truth was, he didn't have a girlfriend, nor did he really want one, he didn't have the time. He continued on into the locker area of the school putting his shoes in the locker, switching them with his school shoes.
"Do I have time to run to the locker room for a shower?" he thought to himself. He shrugged closing his locker and began briskly walking to the locker room. There were 15 minutes until homeroom and he knew where he was going. He had time. On his walk, he heard a boy yelling behind him.
"Watch it, freak!" He then felt a bump on his shoulder. The boy turned to him.
"Get out of my-" the boy's eyes grew wide, "O-oh! Akihiko-senpai! S-Sorry I didn't know that was you! Oh man! Please forgive me! I'm so s-sorry![/b]" The boy bows frantically as if he just scratched the shoes of a superstar. Akihiko puts his hands in his pockets.
"S'fine. Just don't go blaming other people when it's you causing the trouble..." Akihiko entered the locker room, hearing the boy's reply from behind him.
"Y-Yes, senpai! Sorry, senpai!"
Akihiko hops into the shower to wash off the sweat from his morning jog/run before he heads to class.

Kaito's body leaned forward slightly as the bus rolled to a stop. Kaito sighed as he looked for a spot to cut in between the student's rushing to get off the bus. He finally found a spot and cut in front of an unsuspecting freshman. "Hey, what the hell?" Kaito heard the underclassman exclaim. He in return faced the kid.

"Deal with it." he said getting off of the bus. As he continued walking towards his homeroom class a student bumped into him, hard.

"Watch where your- oof!" The freshman's sentence was cut short when he ran into another upperclassman.

"You watch where your going, boy." The other student said.

"S-sorry" The freshman stuttered as he slipped away.

"Hey Kaito!" The towering sophomore said, turning to face him.

"Haven't seen you in a while Daiki"

Kaito had known Daiki since middle school. He was one of the strongest, biggest people he'd ever seen. So naturally he became friends with him.

"Where are you off to?"[/b]

"Homeroom, I think I have a couple classes with you later today."

[u]"I think Hayato has homeroom with you, so I'll see you later, better get to my homeroom too." he said turning away.

"Since when did you care about being on time?" Kaito called out after him. He sighed as he continued on his way towards his homeroom class. He was one of the first one's there, so he chose the seat close to the back, near the windows. He waited as the student's slowly began to trickle in. Then he spotted a familier face. "Hayato!"

Hayato looked around for a second before finding Kaito. "Hey Kaito, how's it going?" he said sitting next to him.

"Fine, how about yourself?" Kaito replied. Just then the bell rang, indicating that school had started.

Two blond twins came in. It was a rarity for Ling to see people who weren't Asian. Probably they were from North America.
She was listening to them introducing themselves in front of the class. However, the boy's burned mark dragged Ling's attention. It would be innapropriate to aks him about it, but this powerful curiosity started burning the black haired girl from the inside. She really wanted to know what was the story behind this. Was it an accident? Was it abuse? What was it? If Ling asked him almost immediately after they meet, she would probably lose him as a future friend. She didn't want this to happen with anyone, ever, especially on her first day. She had to find a way to control herself.

As she was trying to supress her curiosity, she was looking around the other students. She was wondering what each of them would be like. She started imagining different things.

Maybe Kaito was popular around the ladies because he attended many sports? Maybe Akihiko was fascinated by music and wanted to start a band? Probably Felicity and Matthew were exchange students from another country?

Later her imagination reached another level, as she started imagining Kutaki fighting aliens in order to save the love of her life, who was Felicity. Maybe Akihiko and Kaito were enemies, who would start fencing to death after the classes. And for God's sake, what was the story behind Matthew's mark?

Kaito ceased to pay attention as the teacher began to talk about rules and regulations of the school. Instead he began to chat with Hayato.

"Well, I'm doing great Katio."

"What did you even do? That is, other than just messing around."

"Well I..." Hayato took a moment to think.

"That's what I thought, knowing you, that's all you'd do when you get free time." Hayato shrugged and took a look around the classroom.

"Who do you think looks cute?"

"I don't know, why do you wanna know?"

"Oh? You like one of the guys then?" Kaito rolled his eyes and took a look at the girls in the classroom.

"Maybe that one." he said pointing to the Chinese girl. Hayato began laughing silently.

"Hey, maybe I should let her know?"

"Don't"

"Hey!" Hayato whispered at the girl. "Chinese girl! Hey!" Kaito grabbed his arm.

"I swear, if you continue, I'm gonna start calling you bird boy again. Remember how well that name stuck in middle school?" Hayato deflated in defeat.

"Fine"

"Now..." Kaito contunued. "...what class do you have next?"

The bell rang and Kaito grabbed his things as he walked out of the classroom. "Alright..." Kaito said looking at his schedule. "I've got Theater next...so that's..." Kaito looked up from his schedule and started walking towards the theater classroom. On his way there, he saw a girl picking up her stuff off of the ground and another girl helping her. He swiftly walked past them without a second glance as he continued on his way.

When he arrived at the auditorium he walked in to see Mrs. Joshuyo. "Hello Mrs. Joshuyo." The theater teacher turned to face him.

"Oh, hello Kaito. How was your summer?"

"It was good." he replied trying to find a place he could sit. He settled for a chair intended for an audience member. He waited as more students trickled in. "Lots of freshmen this year..." he mumbled to himself. Suddenly a girl walked up to him and greeted him.

"Hi, is your name Kaito?"

"Yeah." he replied flatly.

"Kaito Shibata by chance?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, I heard about you from the middle school. Even saw one of the plays you were in. Are we going to be acting together?"

Freshmen "Well yeah...I guess." Kaito wasn't used to having fans being so submerged in him like this. Attended one of his plays? How did she even know about him? She just got here.

"Great!" the girl exclaimed. "I look forward to it!"

"Yeah..." he replied. "Me too." An awkward silence ensued between the two until the girl couldn't stand it any longer.

"Well, I'm Hoshimi. How are you today?" Kaito sighed.

"I'm doing fine." This was going to be a long period.

"Did someone whisper to me?" Ling thought. "Eh, just my imagination.

Now that the class ended, I should go for the Computers... Should I sign this as one of the clubs?"

"That's right... The class ended..." The girl thought. "Maybe I should make some friends right now! Waiting till lunch and finding a place next to people would be too easy and I can't wait to meet someone now! Let's start with the black haired girl over there!" Ling was about to approach Mira, who ran away.

"Eh?... Okay, okay. I'll probably meet her again later. Let's try out with those guys over there!" She was about to approach Kaito and Hayato.
"HiiiiaaAAH!" The girl managed to trip and fall right when they went out of the room. Making friends can be a hard work even for an extrovert like Ling.
"Shoot, I've lost them in the hallway's crowd!" She went to the hallway for a moment and came back to the room again."I need to be faster!" She thought. "At least one classmate at a period! Come on, Ling, you can do it!"

The girl suddenly went crazy when she grabbed the American twins' hands and dragged them next to Akihiko and Ayumi. "You and you! Matthew and Felicity, Right? I'm Ling, nice to meet you! You and you! What are your names?"

New school... new beginning... The sun beams warming your skin and bringing light to your eyes... The bliss and excitement of Ling's first day at Surogami High...

It went away, because she was really bored at class. Her head was burried on the desk, as it looked like she was sleeping. She was trying hard to listen to what was the teacher saying. She had to do something in order to beat the boredom. Doodling? She didn't know what she wanted to draw. Maybe she should write a note to someone. That's it! Something like a little game. The girl ripped a piece of paper from her notebook and started writing something. A while later she finished it. It said:

"Let's make a story together! We start with a sentence. Each writes a continuation to the current story and gives it to the next person. We'll read everything in the recess, so here we go:

A dragon was fighting a werewolf in the dark woods."

Kaito quietly sat in his seat as he listened to the teacher. Hayato sat next to him, trying to get his attention, but naturally, Kaito was ignoring him.

"Katio! Kato!" Hayato whispered. Kaito had had enough by this time, and decided that it was worth his while to answer.

"What the hell do you want?" he replied flatly. Just then, a paper was shoved onto his desk. He looked at it for a second and passed it to Hayato.

"Tsk! Some people do the dumbest things!" as he said this, Hayato crumpled the paper and shot it into the waste basket. "And he scores!" Hayato exclaimed. This was met by looks from the teacher and classmates. Kaito also took the chance to stare at Hayato.

"Grow up." he said blandly. "And while your at it," he continued, "learn how to recycle." Kaito said turning away. "How can he even call himself a junior..." Kaito thought, settling back into his chair.

"Ay! How rude!" Ling glared at Hayato. "He's a harsh one, isn't he? Is this how he treats newcomers? Is this how he treats everyone?"

"So... I guess that boy over there is helping for the library, eh? That's very nice." She was thinking. "I guess I'll just doodle for now. Then, after this class, I'll get to know the others better."

Some people would feel uncomfortable around many people. Others wouldn't care at all. As for Ling - she usually starts thinking of stories about the people around her. Probably the boy, who was going to the library, was actually on a mission to become a superhero and stop the crime. Maybe everyone were warriors, an army, ready to fight against the dragon and the werewolf.

The end of the class was near. Ling finished her drawing of a rocket and put the paper back into her notebook.

"I'm not finished with you!" The girl thought, glaring at Hayato again.

Mira

Mira sat on the back of the class next to the window. She didn't really listened what the teacher explained. She wasn't interested in history. She was on her own thoughts looking out of the window. "This will be a long year to spent alone... I think I should at least try to make some friends. Or maybe I just try to cope in here..." Mira startled when one of the guys in the class suddenly shouted "And he scores!" throwing a piece of paper to a waste basket. "Childish" she thought. His friend seemed to be irritated. Also a Chinese girl was glancing over him all the time. "What did I miss?" Mira whispered quietly herself. She looked at the clock. The first lesson was almost over.

Kimi quietly sits in her History class. She chose a desk in the back of the room, close to the window. She sees the middle schoolers outside on the track. Not too long ago, she was one of them. Though, she hardly felt any different now. A girl across the room from her glares at her for some reason. When Kimi makes eye-contact, she looks down at her desk.
"Eyes front Miss Yuzuru." Miss Mazawa says glaring at the girl who had her eyes on Kimiko. The girl obeys. Miss Mazawa begins her lecture and Kimiko sighs quietly, hoping the class moves quickly.


Mai leans her head on her hand. She sighs and looks at the others in the class. They had been with her for years with he exception of Mira, the new girl. She laughs slightly at Hayato's antics. This was normal for him. So was her response.
"Nice shot, Hayato. Maybe if you were as good in class as you are at sinking baskets, you'd be on honor roll, yeah?" He knew she was kidding. Being the self-named "class clown", she made sure to playfully tease him now and again. Akihiko smiled slightly. Mai took notice. She gasps.
"Aki-sama! A real smile out of you? Goodness, is the world ending?"
"Hah! Yes, Mai-chan, with my smile comes fire and brimstone." Akihiko always liked Mai's sense of humor. She was a great person to be around. Charismatic, kind, always willing to be of help to the resident damsel or duke in distress.

“Hey, that transfer student looks pissed, I wonder why she keeps glaring at me?” Hayato whispered.

“I don’t know Hayato,” Kaito replied. “you have a knack for triggering people’s anger, so I guess that applies to foreigners too.”

“Tsk, and what does Mai know about sports? I doubt that she even knows how to play a single one.” Hayato huffed. Kaito just shrugged and turned back towards the front of the classroom.

“Alright class, that’s all for today, remember to study, even though the unit test isn’t in a while.” Mr. Jippensha said. As if to verify his words, the bell rang, dismissing the students. Kaito closed his notebook and stood up.

“I’ll see you later Hayato, I may have a class with you later today.” Hayato said, walking out of the classroom. He continued on to his next class, mathematics.

Mathematics class…

Before long, Kaito found his way to the room in which the theater class was held. He patiently waited for all of the other students to arrive, since none of his friends were in the class.

Mira

With the help of the math teachers, Mr. Ryuu Joshuyo, instructions Mira found the theater room easily. This time she didn't cause any troubles at the hallway either. She looked around the class. There wasn't many familiar faces. She noticed Kaito, who had been in a same classes with her all day. She took a seat next to him but didn't say anything to him. ”It's not like he would recognize me anyway.” Mira thought. ”I'm just another new student. I highly doubt he will even care.” She had an awful headache because she was without her glasses. ”Well... There's not so many students. Maybe I can use them for a while” she tought and took the glasses from her bag.

As he waited for the students to trickle in, he saw a familiar face walk in and take a seat next to him. "Doesn't even bother to acknowledge me..." Kaito turned to face the girl as she put on a pair of glasses. "Ever thought about contacts?" he asked.

Mira

Mira startled from surprise when Kaito talked to her. ”Okay. Go on. Talking with new people isn't so hard” she tried to convince herself. She nodded slightly. ”Yeah. I have tried them. But I just didn't get used to them.” She said carefully. ”I'm Mira.”

The girl seemed to almost jump after she realized he was talking to her. ”Yeah. I have tried them. But I just didn't get used to them.” she replied. ”I'm Mira.”

"Mira? Hm...what an interesting name." Kaito thought. "Sounds sort of American or something..." "Well Mira," he replied, "my name's Kaito. More and more students began to trickle in as the time drew close for the bell to ring. "I hope your good, we've already got too many freshmen in this class. The last thing we need is a bad actor.

Mira

”He's worried that I'm a bad actor? Let's see. Cleopatra has been my only role that was in English. Sure I can remember something from it” she thought. Mira closed her eyes and begin to quote: ”Never was there queen so mightily betrayed. Yet, at the first I saw the treasons planted. Why should I think you can be mine and true, though you in swearing shake the throned gods. Who have been false to Fulvia? Riotous madness, to be entangled with those, mouth-made vows, which break themselves in swearing.”

”William Shakespeare, Anthony and Cleopatra, am I right?” Mira heard someone saying behind her. She turned over quickly. The teacher, Mai Joshuyo, looked at her smiling. Mira then realized that there was also some other students staring at her. ”Oh great. Just great.” She nodded. ”I had a part in it last year” she answered.

Kaito listened as he heard Mira recite a line from some sort of play. ”Never was there queen so mightily betrayed. Yet, at the first I saw the treasons planted. Why should I think you can be mine and true, though you in swearing shake the throned gods. Who have been false to Fulvia? Riotous madness, to be entangled with those, mouth-made vows, which break themselves in swearing.” After she'd finished, the teacher approached, seeming to be drawn by her words.

”William Shakespeare, Anthony and Cleopatra, am I right?" she asked. Mira nodded in response.

”I had a part in it last year” she answered. The bell rang, and the teacher made her way to the front of the class.

"I wasn't asking how well you can memorize lines." Kaito stated flatly, but he switched his attention to Ms. Joshuyo as she cleared her throat to get everyone's attention. After some introductions and such, the teacher finally cut to the chase.

"Alright class," she said. "today we're going to start with improvs to help with our acting. We will be in groups of two, and you can decide whatever you want to do. Just keep it under five minutes, but don't make it too short." The teacher then started calling out the people that would be in groups. "Kaito will be with Mira" she called.

"Well, let's see how good you are..." "Well," Kaito said addressing Mira. "Have any good idea's?"
