Romeo Vlo's Story

Today was the first day of school. Unlike most school those Phobos worked very differently. The first 3 days of school students would arrive at there own pace. There would be no classes to allow students to figure out classes, make friends, and become oriented with the over all feel of the school. That was nice. It was... Very nice really. Juliet stared out her dorm room window. It had a view of the gardens and beyond that the bright blue sky and the deep rolling waves of the ocean.

She was nervous. She was scared, and she could not run to Romeo. If she ran to her brother she knew he would never leave her be. He would never let her be her own person. Blinking she put away her last few books and marveled at her room. She'd covered the white walls in paintings of the sky or scenery views. Her bed was small and fit in the corner with its blue cover then she had a book shelf and a desk with her laptop on it. Aside that her room was pretty empty. Leaving her room she headed down the hall when she heard the sound of high pitched screeching. The sound only someone moving furniture could make. Covering her ears she felt her anxiety spike. She wanted out of there now!

Running down the hall the pink haired sickly girl directed herself far from the noise. All the way over to the greenhouse. Panting her gripped her chest. She'd run to far to fast. Shaking she slipped into the greenhouse. Her sanctuary and the place she'd be hosting her gardening / nature club. Juliet sat on a bench exhausted and sighed heavily letting the sounds fill her ears and calm her anxiety. The sound of birds filled her ear and the earthy smell filled her mind...

Romeo was in the music club room. No one was running the club or a band so he took advantage of the empty room to do his forbidden hobby. Play his electric guitar. Juliet's phobia of most any noise that wasn't nature noises or extreme hippie noises or speaking kept him pretty tight on his schedule to play his guitar. Juliet always went out of her way for him to be able to and that he knew. But still he tried to not play it too much. But with club rooms far from Juliets dorm or her favorite spots he could finally play.

Romeo played a tune and smirked. This year was shaping up to be a good one already. Far from his parents he did not have to hide his phobias. But out here he could also make new friends and he did hope to make many... But that also meant there would be many people that might hang around Juliet. That made him nervous. His baby sister was just so naive at times and who knew what kind of people might hang around her. Playing his guitar louder as if to drown the thoughts he stared out a window. He would not let anyone hurt her... No one.

Kathrine wandered through the halls- after arranging her room in such a way that she would have optimal time in the morning to get ready in the morning. She had desided she needed to make sure people knew her- and didn't pry or try to become her friend. She was still wandering when she heard a loud noise, one she immidiately recognized to be a guitar. She wandered toward the noise, until she found the source- and the player. A blue haired boy. "Hello!" She yelled over the music and waked closer, then around him. "You mind?!" She yelled, gesturing to the drum set near him. She loved to play it, and it was almost her favorite behind the saxophone. She made sure not to mention her name or who she was as she sat down at the drums and picked up some discarded sticks.

She began to tap her feet to the music, then began to play to it- filling in the spots where the noise got a little softer and backing down as it got louder. She used to apply her phobias to things like that- she could be herself if there was less people, and she slowly faded into the background, hiding herself so she wouldn't connect to anyone as more people came. She smiled as she began to play faster, in out, in out, and again. She listened to the melody for a moment before she adruptly stopped, then began again. She realized she hadn't played the drums for a time- she had been sure she practiced enough not to forget, but then she had to practice saxophone, then guitar, then piano, then do homework- she had little to no time to really play. She had more time now, now that she was here.

Romeo had barely heard someone come in until they started to play. Smiling to himself he played louder but slowed down until they had the beat down and he sped back up. He played loud and proud and smiled the whole time. When the song ended he laughed and spun around to face the person. "Well hello there fellow student~" He said with a pleasant smirk on his lips. The brown haired girl looked young then him... Maybe but older then Juliet his sister. "Might I ask your name? Oh and before you ask for mine first... It's Romeo... Romeo Vlo at your service miss." Smiling becomingly he played a tune on his guitar gently. "And if I can ask another question~ Where did you learn to play like that? You picked up the beat quite quickly." Smiling even wider he played his little tune.

"Hello, Romeo. I......." she bit her lip lightly. "Kat, call me Kat.... but... don't...." she said lightly. That was her middle ground- she didn't care if anyone knew her name, but if they knew her full name they could find out about her life- and that was something she didn't want anyone poking into. She looked down as she continued "I.... um..... it's.... a.... I have a.. uh... problem with... something... and... er.... I practice? I play guitar too... and saxophone, and flute, and a medley of other things" she wanted to tell him, but what if he told another person? It wasn't like she could just go around telling her phobia's to everyone. Maybe if she was his friend- not the other way around- and she knew she could trust him not to tell anyone... who was she kidding, she couldn't tell him. She would have to be dependent on him not to tell anyone- if everyone knew her phobias, it would be okay, but they didn't, so she didn't want to be labeled as something she wasn't. She smiled as he played the tune again, and she waited for him to finish, then played a tune of her own.

Romeo smiled. He could tell that Kat did not trust him. "Haha sorry if I'm making you awkward." He played his guitar slowly. "You can play quite a few instruments by the sound of it... It can only my guitar. My sister has a phobia of noise so it's hard finding time to practice guitar with her around." He played a happy tune and smiled at Kat. "I can tell you don't trust me... It's cool I get it." Looking away he continued to play with little on his mind...

Juliet jumped as a voice split the silence. She blinked and looked over at a boy who appeared to be writing. "Who? Me?" She blinked her bright eyes. It was strange talking to someone without her brother there to dive into the spot light and drag her away before she got even a sentence in... "I'm fine..." She coughed. "Just a little dizzy and startled... N-NOT CAUSE OF YOU!" Putting her hands up she waved them wildly her cheeks going red. "I-I just heard loud noises and I well umm... Ran and then here and... I should stop talking..." She shyly shifted. "But... Ummm how are you? Are you alright?" She asked shyly to the blonde haired boy.

"No, no, it's just that I have a problem with....I suppose it doesn't matter if everyone knows, it's not like I will be labeled a freak here for it... I have a problem with dependence. Even small things, like depending on someone to not tell my secrets. But because I dont care if you tell- it won't matter. I like music- though sometimes its a pain to practice all the intruments to make sure I won't loose my ability to play them well" Kathrine smiled and put down the sticks. "Well I suppose I should be heading off, back to my room" she said simply, standing up. "totsiens,sbohem, au revoir, and all that" and with that she walked out of the room quickly.

Romeo blinked at Kat. She had in a way the same problem he did. But before he could really say anything about it she'd practically waltzed out of the room. "H-hey!" Swinging the guitar so it was on his back he followed after her. Into the hall he caught up with her. "Hey! Kat... Don't worry... I get it... I'm the same way... I have a phobia that makes me afraid of being rejected by others... and another that won't even let me hug my mom and dad... I get it soo..." Smiling he reached out a touched her head to comfort her soon as his hand made it to her head though he pulled away. "Don't worry... I know what its like to depend on another... It's hard being your own person when you need someone else that much... I get that its scary and annoying... So I will keep your secret and you don't have to depend on me... Not unless you choose." Smiling he turned back to walk the other way. Maybe he'd head down to the docks and play a tune there... Maybe.

"I-It's not a secret. Tell anyone you like" Kathrine said, turning around to walk away, but before she left, she forced herself to say something. It was low, and he probably couldn't hear it, but she didn't care, she had said it- "It's Kathrine..... I...I hope to see you around" she choked back her fear of having to depend on a someone to be a friend as she started to run back to her room, her heart in her throat. She slammed the door behind her and she walked over to her dresser, where nick-knacks were set out from her life. She picked up a small journal and went over to her bed, picking up a small bottle of ink and a calligraphy pen along the way- she just liked writing with them better for some reason- and she began to write. A short story, then an account of her trip over, what she missed- whatever came to mind.

Juliet Vlo:

Juliet smiled. Ryan was oddly welcoming about all her little twitches and problems he was even trying to help her up. "Thank you..." She took his hand and stood up a little wobbly but fine. "And its fine... I am a little bit helpless... But... I'm trying not to be!" Huffing Juliet stood tall and proud but no matter how much she stood straighter she still was short compared to Ryan.

"I know it's kinda strange that I come too the gardens where there's pollen if I'm asthmatic... But I found that I prefer pollen over smog... Smog sometimes makes me collapse..." Juliet brushed herself off. "Hey... Ryan... I'm not sure if I should ask but... What's your phobia?" Juliet blinked her bright blue eyes. "It's fine if you don't wanna talk about it... Mine is Acousticophobia... It means I'm afraid of noise..." Juliet felt her cheeks grow hot in embarrassment. "It's silly I know but I can't go anywhere without something scaring me off..."

Romeo Vlo:

Romeo had walked out of the school with his guitar still on his back and headed down to the shore. He listened to the sound of waves and the wind carried a noise to him. It was the sound of people talking. More arrivals Romeo guessed. Romeo followed the shore until he saw the docks. People were arriving in pairs all except for one person. He looked about Juliet's age and very shy. Something about him made Romeo want to talk to him. Romeo walked over to the white haired boy and cleared his throat so as not to startle him. "Hey are you... Lost or just arriving? Cause... If you are I could help you?" Romeo smiled at him gently and fixed his wild blue hair.

Aiden jumped slightly at the sound of someone, a male, clear his throat before speaking to him. His smile was quite something. And his blue hair. Aiden itched to paint this very interesting character before him. Instead of stating this he pulled his feet out of the water, unrolled his pant legs and pulled on his socks and shoes. He stood up so that he wasn't so far from the ground, but Aiden still had to look up at this blue haired teen, that looked not much older then himself. Aiden stuffed his hands in his grandfathers over sized bomber jacket lest his fingers start twitching in want of painting. Aiden couldn't help but find that the male before him was attractive. He smile a shy smile back at the teen as well as moving his air out of his red eyes. He really didn't want to scare off this stranger, after all he was the first person to talk to Aiden sense his arrival. "I'm not lost, but thanks for asking anyway." Aiden found a sudden interest in his own shoes lest he get lost in the strangers deep blue-purple eyes. He scuffed the toe of his shoe on the wood planks of the dock before looking up again. Aiden could feel the confidence oozing off of this blue haired teen. Aiden felt a tickle of a blush come to his cheeks, as he caught him self starring, before looking down again. "Um.... I'm Adien..." He could help but rattle to him self for not introducing himself sooner.

Romeo smiled. So the shy boy was named Aiden. Smiling Romeo shifted. "Aiden then names. Romeo. And I'm glad your not lost but still if you need a thing just ask." Romeo shifted his guitar. Aiden was pretty cute and Romeo could tell he was shy which made the pale haired individual even cuter to Romeo. Fixing his blue hair Romeo smirked. "So if your not lost why are you down here? I mean the oceans nice but I find it pretty lonely to watch and enjoy alone." Romeo smiled softly showing the honesty behind his somewhat flirtatious words. Somewhat because he did not want to scare away the shy boy away.

Aiden shivered at the last few words spoken by Romeo. Aiden shook his head a little in attempt to scare off the thoughts of him being alone. Aiden kept his eyes on his shoes while in thought. Aiden had come to this school because of his fears. This boy must have as well, other wise what point was their coming to a island out in the middle of the ocean. Taking a deep breath Aiden spoke. "I, uh, actually came here to just be around people in some way. I have this fear of being alone ..... it gets pretty bad" As Aiden spoke his voice quietened. He never did get a chance to tell any of his old friends about his fears so telling Romeo, a person he had just met, about it seamed a little strange to him, but only by a little. Aiden fidgeted a little before looking up at Rome again smiling a very meek shy smile.

Romeo smiling gently at Aiden. "Ah sorry probably should not have mentioned you being alone then..." Romeo gave a sheepish smile. "I'm here cause I can't touch people at all... Sense I was 9 I could not even hug my mom..." He could tell Aiden was conflicted about telling Romeo about his phobia... But Romeo understood. "To be honest... I've never told anyone but my sister about my phobia really... It's kinda nice talking about it." Romeo smiled at Aiden. "So... You wanna walk with me Aiden that way I can maybe make a friend." Romeo put on his most charming smile and fidgeted.

Aiden looked up at Romeo, and smiled a smile of relief. "No it's okay, I take medication to keep simple things like that from getting to me... It must be hard not being able to touch the people close to you. I know what it's like not having told anyone, the only other person that knows about my fear, next to you, is my grandmother." Aiden could feel him self relaxing in the presence of Romeo, "I wouldn't mind walking, it would be nice if I could be your friend Romeo... you don't seam like a bad person at all." Aiden smiled back at Romeo. Perhaps he wouldn't be alone in this massive school after all.

Romeo Vlo:

Romeo smiled. "Then lets walk." Leading the way Romeo walked a little way back toward the school. "So Aiden what do you like about the school so far... I'd preferably like to know your favorite spots so I can maybe track you down again." Smirking playfully. Romeo made sure his playfulness came threw. He was still being cautious with how far he would go but Romeo decided to hint at his... attraction? To the shy boy. Maybe attraction was two strong a word. But really Romeo liked Aiden already. He was cute, shy, and friendly. The type of person Romeo felt oddly protective over...

Juliet Vlo:

Juliet's cheeks turned bright red in embarrassment when Ryan chuckled at her. She listened quietly as he gestured to the ocean. "Wait... If you have a phobia of water... why did they send you to school in the middle of the ocean then?" Juliet blinked at the thought and then 5 seconds to late realized that saying it in such a blunt manner might scare him a little. "Well hey don't worry!" Juliet quickly added. "If you ever need me to rescue you from the ocean or a puddle... I will... Tiny or not." Juliet smiled gently. "So long as you let me hide behind you when I get scared from a ruler falling to the floor."

Aiden smiled back at Romeo and fell in step with the taller boy. Aiden blushed a little at the smirk Romeo gave and looked down at his feet before replying. "For the most part I can be found where there will be lots of people, though I don't like the gym, or sports so you wont find me there. Other then that you could find me in the art room, or my dorm. What about you Romeo, where could I find you? The music room maybe?" Aiden had long before took notice to the guitar strapped to Romeo's back. It had peeked his interest, Aiden always found music calming no matter how upbeat or how loud it could be. Aiden also found him self enjoying the company of Romeo, and from what he was picking up from Romeo, so was he. Then again Aiden wasn't the best at reading people.

Juliet Vlo:

Juliet smiled happy to hear Ryan would look out for her if she did the same. There was a moment of silence before Ryan asked her a question. "Me... I like books and reading... I write a little but it's not really a hobby..." Juliet stopped and thought. Did she have a hobby? Well aside writing the only thing that came to mind was... "I like gardening... Even if I'm asthmatic... I like taking care of plants." Juliet smiled. "There quiet unlike the rest of the world..." She blinked. "Well... Your alright but that's cause you seem very nice...And not scary... Even though your really really tall..." Juliet blinked up at Ryan.

Romeo Vlo:

Romeo smiled. He'd have to keep an eye out for the white haired boy sense he liked hanging about it crowds. "Yeah the music room or my room... I'm not the best student so Library's and me don't get along... You might also find me running around the dock or something..." Romeo walked at a medium pace allowing Aiden to keep up.

Aiden found that he couldn't stop smiling now, Romeo had some kind of effect on Aiden. Aiden couldn't put at finger on it, but he started to think that he should stop smiling else his cheeks would hurt. Even around his grandmother Aiden didn't smile often. Aiden blushed a little and looked at his shoes after realizing that it was Romeo that made him smile. "I might stop by the music room some time then."

Romeo smirked. "I'd like that perhaps Il even play you a ballad then." Romeo gave a playful smile. "Where would you like to go Aiden we have the whole island so anywhere you desire I will escort you." Romeo walked next to Aiden like a protective guard but kept his composure relaxed so as not to frighten away Aiden's pretty smile Romeo was enjoying so much. He could tell it was one of those smiles that dint occur often. And sense he was managing to summon it to the surface he kinda hoped on keeping it there.

Aiden blushed at the thought of having Romeo play a ballad just for him. He never ever had someone say let alone play a ballad for him. "I've never heard a ballad before...." Aiden mumbled just over the tone of softly. Deciding that he didn't feel like mumbling he went on with where he would like to go, or in this case where he hadn't been because his lack-there-of confidence. "I am not sure ... I haven't been to any other places other then the docks, the art room or my room. Are their any other places that might have lots of people?" Aiden had to ask, it seamed like Romeo was more willing to venture the school then Aiden had been. Aiden didn't want to risk getting lost then end up being alone and then have everything fall apart. Aiden then had a idea "Maybe you could show me some places that might be interesting to paint?" Aiden was starting to run low on people and things to paint, after all he had spent the last two days painting his room.
