"They need to be stopped...before they kill others."

0 · 525 views · located in Future U.S.A

a character in “Project Zero: Escape”, as played by yogitheambrangyl

Description

Name: "I hear that mothers and fathers give names...wonder if that's true." Laura Marie Andrews, aka Subject #0021784
Image
Nickname: "Why do they refer to me as a set of numbers? I'll call myself..." Lea

Familiar's Name: "Did you know there are pictures in the lights in the sky??" Leo

Age: "I heard them talking once; they said I was here for seventeen years...how long is a year though? 17

Gender: "Of course I am a girl." Female

Familiar's Gender: "Leo's a boy, apparently that isn't common..." Male

Role: "Do we all have a part to play in this grand scheme of theirs?" Lea was made at one of the institutes. The only one in her litter to survive, once the explosion started she ran from the horrible place, with a group of others, as quickly as she could.

Mutation | Abilities: With the Lion by her side she is a Pride member. Her greatest ability, though at the same time, her most uncontrolled power is her tendencies to start fires. Due to the great change done to her genes Lea has a hard time feeling comfortable in her own skin, making her irritable sometimes, leading her to start fires around her even if she does not want, or intend to.
Besides that she has the normal additions that come with being a Pride. She has great muscle strength, much stronger than many of the guards that watched over her.
Image

Weaknesses: "I am the strongest! What weakness?"
~Often she can think of herself as invincible, which could be her greatest weakness.
~She isn't as swift as Felines, easily taken down with quick attacks.
~The random starting of fires causes much unnecessary trouble.

ImageDescription: In her normal form, Lea is tall, standing at six foot three. She has a large frame to hold all her natural muscle. She has long legs with large muscles that allow her to stay on her feet for a long time. Her arms are also well built, giving her the strength to fight several people at once easily.
She has waist length dark brown hair that has a natural curl to it. Lea's eyes are also dark brown to the point that they look black in most lighting. Once she has moved to her in-between state, her appearance subtly shifts to compliment her familiar. Streaks of her hair bleed out to a light blonde, looking somewhat like liquid gold. Her eyes shine with flecks of amber which are intensified by the golden highlights through her hair. This second form gives her more lion attributes starting with her mouth, her canines elongate into sharp fangs. Next, atop her head lie a pair of lion ears, increasing her ability for hearing. Lastly is the long lithe tail she gains, heightening and strengthening her sense of balance. It is the same golden brown color of her ears with a tuff of fur at the end that contains dark brown streaks.
Lea's last form is that of her familiar. He is a large lion, about three feet tall and six feet long of pure muscle and power. His coat is a light dusty brown which looks almost gold in the sun. Leo's mane is thick, with the base around his neck a dark brown and the front around his face the golden color. His eyes are pure amber in color, almost like gemstones.Image

Personality: Due to her time within the Institute, Lea has become a hard person to read. Upon first impression she can be a rough person, blunt with her words and uncaring to others around her. The later is closer to truth seeing as she does not always know when someone is hurt by something else.
Right underneath her strong exterior is turmoil. From the hard time going through the changes done to her she does not always understand her emotions and instincts, leaving her frantic and panicked. To cover this fault within herself she is often easily irritated, brought to anger quickly, and when that happens fires start to break out.
She finds it hard, to nearly impossible, to trust others. She will stay cautious of a person until she knows without a doubt that they are sincere. Even then she will stay somewhat skeptical, always doubting those around her.
Beneath all this Lea is scared and worried. She does not want to be caught and taken back to the Institute, she also is scared of what the natural born mutants will think of her. Overall is worried about dying within the next few years before she is able to settle into her modified genes.Image

Image Familiar Personality: Leo is Lea's grounding. He always has a level head and forces her to think before she acts. He is a fierce creature who is loyal only to her and will protect her at all times.

History: The Institute began a large litter of Prides. Each child was an infant or a toddler when they were either given to the scientists or taken by them. The process began with around forty young ones, each given the serum to change ten percent of their genetic material to that of a lion. Within the first week, half of the subjects died...
Lea's first memories are of pain, excoriating pain, and screams. The never ending cycle of burning didn't stop for an entire week, leaving her weak and sick along with the nineteen others she had survived with. For the next several months she was monitored, had blood tests done, sensory testing and more. Through that time five more of her litter had passed on.
For the next ten years they were kept together and trained to fight, to hunt, to capture, and work hand in paw with their familiars. Once it was known that Lea had a familiar of the opposite gender, she was rewarded with more tests, along with slight ridicule from the other Prides. Each year their numbers dwindled, loosing on average a single Pride per year due to the increasing problems with their abilities and their inability to cope. During this time, she had broken out of her cell to see what else there was to see within the building. She wandered into one of their classrooms and found a star chart. Immediately she found the picture of the Lion. She could not stop staring and so she got caught and put into a different cell that she could not break out of. The guard that had taken her back was kind enough to tell her that the star formation was called Leo. Upon liking the name, and lacking on for herself and her familiar, she kept the name Leo for her Lion, and Lea for herself.
The five that were left were pushed harder and harder every day. Always a new task, something harder to accomplish and always striving for them to be the leaders of the other mutants they were training. For the next few years the others started to die off until it was only her and another. One day they were both training, testing their endurance, when the last of her litter, as well as her friend, collapsed. He was forced to continue besides his increasing inability to move properly. She held him as he died that night.
Being the last Pride out of the forty to begin with the leaders had wanted her to become a leader for the Pack members they were training. But after Lea had seen up close what their tactics lead to, she did not want others brought to death from over exertion. She refused to participate any longer in the trainings, receiving beatings and harsh tests afterwards...until the explosion.
She saw her chance, and ran for it.

So begins...

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. . ."

Her mother's voice sings softly, the child lullaby sounding hauntingly familiar. When she was a child, Bree's mothers would sing this song just before she went to sleep. Sunshine was a nickname her mother gave her, with her golden locks.

"You never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don't take, my sunshine away."

Was it a coincidence that those were the last words she had ever said to me?

The sirens started first. Flashing red lights reflecting off the glass of the tubes the Others were all kept in. The thick glass between them and the scientists kept each of them away from the frantic hustle and bustle. Papers were being thrown around, armed security officers running around, things being locked away and computers being shut down.

Many officials kept glancing back at the contained Others, worried looks on their faces. Turning, Bree noticed the rest of the Others as confused as she was. Never in her many years at the Institute had anything happened quite like this. Of course, there were times when the doors were doubled locked, windows shut, but shutting down the computers? Even after the building was dark and quiet, the only humans on the premises being the guards, the computers are always on, constantly running some kind of program.

Curiosity killed the cat, her mother would always say. As a child she would never help herself, taking the extra step to see what would happen. Once the step had her falling into a lake. Gazing around at the scientists, it seemed Bree was the only one who noticed light spilling from the bottom of one of the window shades. It wasn't bright, perhaps not noticeable for the humans, but her keen eyes could see it. Tilting her head, her brows scrunched in confusion and wonder as it grew brighter, shining off of the metal walls. Unconsciously, she stepped forward.

The wall exploded, bricks and pieces of metal shot in every which way. Humans fell, others ran, and some even were thrown forward from the blast. A stray piece of brick hit her capsule, shattering the glass and breaking the barrier the small other had. A gasp escaped her lips a moment before she fly backwards, hitting her back and head against the wall. Dizzily, she fell. Slowly, she pulled her arms, legs, and head in under herself, trying not to expose herself. Metal, papers, and bricks hit her repeatedly, and unwillingly Bree's eyes started to droop the dizzier she became.

"Please don't take my sunshine away. . ."
