Introduction

ImageEngrant the Great

The Wizard who created a harmonic balance to the world,
His powers flowing through the center of the world and circulated around each of the respectful race to assign their own lands and sigh a Treaty of Peace. He has done quite a lot for a man so old, he has no history of himself only a tale of many achievements.
But because of his well-mannered nature, he had grown to have an enemy, one in particular.
His Brother, Vercelis the Dark Spell Caster.
For the many growing years that had passed, Engrant predicted that there was no hope for him to stop his Brother's growing army.
Engrant closed his eyes every night and could hear the realistic screams of the people of every race, he could see the tears slithering down their faces and blood that scattered and stained the Earth. He would open his eyes and weep, knowing that during that time, he would not be there.
So in the years that swept pass, he had released a spell of hope in search for six people of whom he had seen through his dreams, he watched them fend off the dark army and gave them a granted protection for when his Brother would strike.
But there was one that didn't belong in the land of Sumacai'a.

The War Began

Engrant the Great was captured on the Dawn of the War.
Imprisoned and chained against his own will, his magic was stripped off of him by Vercelis the Dark Spell Caster, but before he had been able to accept his fate, he left behind a part of him within a small sprite to gather up the chosen six. He withdraw his power and left his staff with the Sprite in hopes that Vercelis wouldn't find them and destroy the fate of the world of Sumacai'a

Yet nothing happened...

Seven years struck passed,
The Dark Spell Caster had claimed half the lands, the nature and beauty destroyed to senseless death and destruction.
For every year that had passed, his army grew as those who survived and taken in had slowly been cursed to turn into a hideous creature who serve and obide his every whim.

Cheyl the Sprite

The weakened Sprite was found by a lake,
She had been weeping and calling out a spell that she had repeated more than thousands of times,
her eyes swollen and her body curled to a ball as a light glowed around her and everything brightened up in a flash.
Six different people had fallen from the sky, their bodies tossed into the cold lake and cleansed for their scent to disappear.
They were from different locations and of different race, one or two were the same, but the others were clearly not.
Cheyl the Sprite had fallen onto a rock, her body remained curled as she whimpered of her success, a small smile glowed upon her face as she had pushed herself to her knees and she welcomed the six.

The Strange One

Cheyl the Sprite explains that the purpose they were summoned there was to save Engrant the Great, save the world and everything would be granted back to normal by the Wizard as there was pure chaos in the lands of Sumacai'a. But what surprised her was that one of them looked like they did not belong and questioned him of where he was from and the reason why he looked like he didn't know where he was, she heard his answers that he came from another time era.
The Sprite was caught in surprise and began to get confused.

Why was that one so special?

Well it turned out, he was called to be the keeper of Engrant's staff.
Each of the six characters were given a part of Engrant the Great's powers. They quest their way around to learn and practice their newly found abilites.
But that one odd person was given the ability to use and hold the staff when no one else couldn't, yet the task at hand was to first learn how to use it.

So Their Adventure Begins

Chosen Six

Clayton Inherst the Staff Guardian
[ Human Male played by Cypher ]
Whomever was granted the power to hold onto the mighty Engrant's staff holds the power to learn his spells of wizardry, but the problem is, the book is missing and that is where they begin their quest, to search for the Book and learn the spells to use the staff.
Originally from a different era, may it be past or future, Engrant calls you to behold his staff and keep it away from Vercelis.

Vyse Ontorion the Healing Water
[ Human Male played by Epsilon ]
Whomever was granted the power to use the water all around them, has the ability cure using the water as well as being able to use it for a defensive mechanism. This person has the title of Healer, and is the second person Vercelis wants in his army. The Healer also has the responsibility to heal those who have slowly turned to one of Vercelis' creatures, those who have been infected by the plague.

Svenrine Amrillaia the Flame Breather
[ Nymph Female played by Oran Tarlin ]
Granted that they breath fire and be able to control it, this is a dangerous power that Engrant has feared to give away as the flames of Sumacai'a has proven to be the power of destruction, it is a power that was given to the one who may be able to control it depending on what type of person they are. If they were hot headed, then the flames would be hard to control. Flame Breather works stronger when Cheyl the Sprite is around as she is the last Red Sprite in Sumacai'a that belongs to Engrant, the rest have been tainted.

Mana Lacarta the Mother of the Earth
[ Half Elf Female played by PhoenixAerith ]
The power of the Earth, being given the energy and the task to both take care of the world as well as use it to defend for ones self. But this granted talent is much stronger when it is intertwined with the Parent of the Skies. They work best together and better known to be opposite genders. The Parent of Earth can use their powers to heal the forest and the other location of the lands throughout the process of their Adventure.

Cael Damon the Father of the Skies
[ Elf Male played by Eira ]
The power of the Sky, having the ability to control the clouds, rain, thunder and anything associated with the skies. But the power is difficult to control as occasionally the skies have their own schedule to do things, it tends to be destructive as well if not properly maintained. This ability works best if intertwined with the power of the Earth and better known to be the opposite gender of the Parent of the Earth.
During the process of their adventure, the Parent of the Sky must aid the Parent of the Earth to revive the lands.

Brandobaris Lightfoot Breedlove III, also known as, Brandy the Light Keeper
[ Halfling Female played by thumper69 ]
There is a Shadow Keeper lurking about in the lands of Sumacai'a, and somehow the one who was granted with the power to be the Light Keeper has known the Shadow Keeper somehow, but the thing is that the Shadow Keeper is the adviser of Vercelis the Dark Spell Caster. The Light Keeper is the one who uses bright lights, allows everything to be seen at a light side and is best to be the one who captures the miniature Yellow Sprites that have escaped from Engrant the Great during his capture. The Yellow Sprites are energy that the Light Keeper and Engrant would use to cast a light over the shadows,

The Quest has begun . . .

Lake Re'anram

Seven years has passed since she began to sing the chant that she was assigned to sing, she was weakened within those seven years and finally, the day came that the chosen six fell into the lake.
Each splash had given her a small time to smile before her body collapsed upon the rock she had situated herself on. Her body was fragile in her state and would need rest for just one night, her eyes were halfway closed yet she was sill able to
move the strand of her hair to the side, tucked in behind her ear as she turned her head towards the people who have walked out of the water. Her face continued to glow and the smile continued to appear wider each time she saw them reach the dry land and stand upon the pebbles in front of her. Cheyl glowed a bit brighter as she pushed herself to sit upon her bottom, her hands shook as they tried to balance against the curved rock, but she was of the size of a human hand and she was capable of balance.

"Welcome."

Her voice had been shaky, she swallowed and tried to get them to be quiet as she weakly flapped her wings to levitate at eye level to them, and to feel rather equal than inferior because of the size.
Cheyl cleared her throat and spread her arms open, she
had struggled to do so and struggled to keep a balance in her wings. Cheyl opened her lips and welcomed them again.

"Chosen ones," She titled them. "All from different areas of our beloved Sumacai'a, you have been called upon by Engrant the Great to go on a Quest for his safe return from him," She began to explain before she fell down and crashed back onto the rock, her body curled to a ball as she shivered, her red glow dimmed and her skin grew pale. "I-I am Ch-Cheyl the Red Sprite," She managed to introduce herself. "I am the one who is to guide you through this, but first..."

The weak Sprite pushed herself back up once more, her wing flapped and she levitated up in the air, she spin quite in a fast speed that her figure turned to a blur and soon dust scattered above them, it was giving eah person their granted ability. She had spun around and round for quite a while before she lowered herself opposite of the chosen Staff Keeper.
A man who dressed oddly. He wasn't from there, Cheyl was told that before she was to judge.
"You are the chosen on to hold," Cheyl turned and pointed towards a staff that was stabbed into a few rocks, she slightly exhaled heavily and added, "That is your task. You are to protect that from anyone who dares to touch and take it for their evil deeds. Enabling the spells is our first task to retrieve before we go deeper into the shattered lands tainted by Vercelis."

Chosen? I don't know who this Cheyl is, or what she wants us to do. But, that was fun! I'm torn between the desire to meet my fellow swimmers, and the desire to go back in the lake. This sprite looks like she's about to collapse for good. Then, she starts doing this spinny thing, it's pretty. Oooh, sparklies! But, I thought only pixies scattered dust.

Suddenly, I feel wierd. Not bad wierd, just different. I'm all warm, like I've been laying out in the sun. But, on the inside, instead of on my skin. Wait! What did she just say?

"What spells? How do we enable them? And, if you're our guide, maybe you can explain just where we are, how we got here, and where you're guiding us to." This all came out in a rush, directed at the poor, beleaguered sprite. "And, another thing. If we're chosen, why us? I have a very busy social schedule, you know? I'm not even properly equipped for a quest. Why, you didn't even bring along my servants, to carry my portion of the quest loot."

By now, these other people are all looking at me rather strangely. Why do big people always find halflings amusing? I swear, the first one who laughs is gonna get it, right in the shin. Let's see how amused they are when they're limping.

Water rushed around Vyse as he sank through the cold water and the longer he waited to get his bearings, the deeper he was pulled into the dark lake. Upon making impact, the shock of it was just like a big slap in the face for him and he was surprised to find himself in the water considering that he was never a fan of dunking himself into a lake while wearing his favourite coat. How did he end up in this mess anyway? The young man was perfectly content on travelling the world just for the fun of it and maybe to make himself a little coin in the process. Vyse wasn't sure of the latter but he may as well pay for his supplies while he's at it. Legs kicking and arms clawing, the young man swam for what he assumed was the surface. He gasped sharply for air as he emerged, looking around and noticing that there were others here, not just him. Great. Now how did I get here? Vyse thought as he swam for shore. It wasn't a long swim but he was slightly troubled as he contemplated on how to get his coat dry in the shortest amount of time possible, not wanting to catch a cold. Either way, he drew his coat tighter around himself and checked to see if his pendant was still around his neck before shoving his hands into his pockets.

The pebbles shifted beneath his weight with a deep crunching sound as he made his way forward and stopped as a small young woman levitated in the air. She had a dim, red glow around her and kind of reminded him of a pixie. Vyse would have said something about the size but the last thing he needed was to be outnumbered so he just watched on with a nonchalant expression as she greeted them. He raised an arm to shield his eyes from the dust as Cheyl spun, clenching his teeth in annoyance and looking away until the dust had settled over him. The young man took a voluntary step back and stared at his hands in expectation of something to happen, not concentrating on the words being exchanged though he did catch one sentence that made his blood run cold and his jaw go slack. "What did you just say?" Vyse balked, wanting a clear confirmation to make sure he wasn't just imagining the event. "What do you mean by 'go deeper into the shattered lands'?" The young man couldn't believe his rotten luck and as he stood there staring wide eyed at the sprite and those around him, he began to think that maybe there are those who would go on this journey regardless. Vyse was curious to what ability he had gained but was sensible enough to not set the bar too high least he finds himself disappointed by the results. Yeah, that and I wasn't planning for this to happen either. He thought bitterly Whoever mentioned that I should get involved is a giant buzz kill... A killjoy! Heaving a sigh, Vyse folded his arms and spared a cautious glance at his surroundings. When push comes to a shove, he can always make a run for it.

"Shouldn't we be going in the opposite direction of the taint, not towards it?" The incredulity in his voice was detected along with a hint of emotion that wasn't quite frustration but was very close to it. He grunted and ran a gloved hand through his wet hair, "Miss 'asks-a-lot' does have a good point though I do not know about the last thing she said. Besides," Vyse casually shrugged, agreeing with the shorter woman who had spoken. She had already asked many of the main questions that mattered and he was grateful that he didn't have to rage on. "You don't look so grand yourself so why are you telling us to dive headlong into danger?" Since he was caught off guard by falling through thin air and into a pool of freezing water, he was more than slightly annoyed that he had no idea of how he had gotten himself involved in the first place.ults. So this was which way the bridle-straps of Fate were hauling Clayton now.

One minute, there had been hardpan desert. A wind-blown expanse of scraggly, dried-up bushes and cracked white earth slowly perishing beneath a merciless white sun. Clayton had been walking down a road in the middle of it, a coach-road on which men and women rode from town to town, searching for jobs. But coaches were for the priveleged; those who couldn't afford to ride, walked. So Clayton walked.

As he walked, things became stranger to him. The horizon ahead, normally distorted by rising heat waves, seemed to begin reflecting the clear sky overhead. Were the gunman's eyes playing tricks on him? Was there suddenly water up ahead that he hadn't seen? The gunslinger's feet picked up the pace, but each step seemed to be carrying him shorter and shorter distances until he was walking in place. Clayton's face registered a modicum of detatched curiosity, and perhaps a little alarm.

Then the blue, quivering horizon started to rush forward at him. What in the Hell was happening all of a sudden? Clayton's face was suddenly shocked. The wind picked up, slowly at first, but then with great intensity, seeking to throw him off his feet as the blue rushed up to meet him. Inherst's feet held him steady for a while, but then he could no longer support himself and felt himself fall.

The blue horizon rushed up to meet him, and suddenly he distinctly felt that there was no more road. He turned behind him, and looked down. The landscape below shocked him. Where there were once low hillocks and scraggly scrub-brush poking up through dead earth, now verdant hills and landscapes surrounded a crystal-blue lake. A lake which he was suddenly plunging towards. Even as he fell head-on towards the lake, Clayton's head swam with curious questions.

Then he hit the water. A sudden, frightening thought crossed the gunman's mind at that moment - he had never swam before! Never once had he been in water deeper than his waist, and even that was stagnant and unmoving, everything in it long dead. As he sank, Clayton noticed that fish swam about him, gazing curiously with their dark eyes before darting away into the dark. Comically, his hat - having trapped an air bubble beneath it - drifted up towards the surface of the pond, where it floated over Clayton's point of entry.

The gunman's limbs flailed wildly, clawing at the cool lake water, frantically attempting to move himself to the water's surface. A hard-fought battle with gravity eventually landed him on the water's surface, where he continued to flail wildly in the general direction of shore. When he did make landfall, his first reaction was to drop to his knees and paw the soft, muddy earth he had found there. He never wanted to swim again.

It was at this point when Clayton Inherst, fundimentalist and staunch believer in the realm of the physical and the nonexistance of magic, realized that a faery was floating over him, spewing gold dust over his head. The gunslinger had never once believed that faeries existed, so naturally this was an oddity for him. The faery - Cheyl the Sprite, if Inherst's haggard, tired mind could remember that far back in time - now moved before him. It spoke, in its clear voice, of a staff which he was to hold. She pointed to it then - a great gnarled thing of sun-bleached wood, the kind of staff old men clung to in their waning days, when their legs were no longer sufficient to bear their weight.

The others spoke, but he ignored them. His goal was the staff. Moving with single-minded concentration, the gunslinger, forgetting his sodden clothes, his tired mind and his confused state, wrapped one hand around the middle of the staff and pulled it from the rocks, holding the great wooden limb in his left hand.

Then he spoke, for the first time in a while. His voice seemed very clear in the muddle of stupid questions that had come before his own. "What do you know of the book? And the staff? I will need a trail to follow before I can track this book which you speak so highly of."

Mana made a gurgling sound of surprise as her ankle was violently tugged and pulled under the strong currents. Her entire body was submerged in the darkness as she struggled to keep her face above the great lake. Failing greatly, Mana inhaled a mouth full of water in a desperate attempt for air and rescue, although she knew it was pretty much hopeless; She subconsciously released the basket of lilies she had been busy collecting near the water's edge and exhaled slowly, allowing the air bubbles to rise upwards as she was drawn into the unknown by a peculiar force. Her blue eyes flickered weakly as she continued her descent and failed to keep them open as she lost the will to remain rebellious towards her "attacker". Mana reached for the rays of brilliant light that had managed to permeate through the water's body; Her vision grew dark as her body went limp from fatigue.

* * *
Mana, irritated and drenched in cold water, awakened as she opened one eye in irritation at the voices. The girl had been listening to the unclear voices for quite a while now, although she appeared to be half-conscious while laying in the lake. She shook her head beneath the shallow water and sat up, squeezing the liquids out of her golden locks. Her delicate features bore an expression of surprise as she surveyed her surroundings; The girl felt slightly out of place and hastily stood, her white tunic dripping all over as she stumbled her way to shore, loudly stomping over the pebbles in an ungraceful manner. She took no notice of the 2 others standing there and focused her attention on the tiny, pixie-like creature. "H-hey.." Mana began clumsily. She grasped the red sprite, completely unaware of her selflessness, and held the creature in the palms of her hands. "Hey.." she repeated, louder and clearer this time. The bluriness that had burdened her mind gradually lifted, allowing her to think more rationally. "That was quite rude of you to call us out here like that! What about our families?!" she demanded, glaring at the sprite indignantly.

The ground rumbled beneath their feet and green, leafy vines sprouted from the ground. The plants grew upwards, rapidly expanding and circled around Mana's waste, ankles, and wrists, contorting in various shapes and sprouting new vines from the original roots. Shocked, Mana drew away from Cheyl and grabbed the elegant rapier that was hanging from her waist. She proceeded to hack off the roots with no luck, as they seemed to be attracted to her. The girl shook with anger and growled dangerously to no one in particular. The vines responded to her growing emotions by blossoming exotic, purple flowers.

Cael didn't know what to think. As far as he could remember, he was supposed to be at home, sharpening swords and waiting for his chicken to roast. Then suddenly, he felt himself falling (which was impossible, as he was sure he'd fix the gaping hole in his room). Now Cael was wet, confused, and faced with a number of strangers he had never met before. For a second he had reckoned a stupid wizard apprentice must had transported him here, but he himself was unsure that there were such thing as wizards. Before he could decide what could possibly brought him to this unknown lake, though, a curious little woman with wings spoke.

He listened to the sprite, but was unable to grasp what she was talking about. This was not his problem, was it? He was just Cael, an ordinary elf who made and fix weapons, not some kind of hero or chosen one. Sure, he had met some great knights and hunters from his work, but not once had he thought of being one of them. Cross that, he never did want to be one of them. Most of them were obnoxious and proud, and even if he knew there was some of them who were genuine and kind, he didn't think he wanted to fight dragons and risked his life just for money and women. No, that's what shallow people do, and Cael was certainly not shallow.

Cheyl had sprinkled some dust on his face, and after she gave her final speech about their abilities, the strangers finally complained. Most of them asked her the questions that were swimming in Cael's mind, so he figured he shouldn't repeat them. Then again, none of them had mentioned the one question that he was so desperate to hear.

"Excuse me," he said carefully. "I agree whole-heartedly with these folks," he gestured his hands to each person there, "especially about your -- err -- appearance, but if you don't mind, would you tell us what's that thing you spread to us? Also, explain about these abilities you said, and answer our questions," the last remark seemed to be rather commanding, so he added a small "please," after them.

Honestly, Cael was irritated about the rotten faith he had bumped into, but couldn't help feeling curious and interested to the whole thing. He wouldn't join this so-called quest off course, but what happened here might be a good entertainment to his boring life. He planned to just nod and watch, then apologize and told these people that he was not what they're looking for. Then, he'd went home and eat his roast chicken. How splendid and fool-proof was his plan, except for the fact that he was the one that the sprite was looking for.

Fatalism be damned!

Svenrine had had every intention of fixing this brooch. It was brilliantly made, smooth, sharp lines, clean edges and absolutely dashing. She remembered taking the hot brooch, a triangular one, good quality iron, a smaller gold triangle inlaid into it, and handling it with her heavily gloved hands. She took the slightly glowing thing and pressed it into the cold water.

The steam was refreshing as it brushed past her face. It was a nice feeling, it cleaned out the lungs and opened up the pores. She took a highly coincidental and effective deep breath.

Suddenly steam was thicker, heavier... almost... tangible. She opened her eyes, and it wasn't so much that she was falling, but that the world was turning around her. She was still standing up, but now she was facing the ground, dropping into the keg full of water, but not so much dropping as walking forward. It was ethereal, magical, invigorating.

But mostly vomit-inducing.

She felt the water seep in, soak through every once dry fiber. She kicked and she spat and tried to find where up was, where down was.

Now she was washed up on a shore, chewed up and spat out by fate...

Now they were sprinkling sand on her? Had these people no shame? Admittedly Svenrine was near unconscious, and could hardly grasp the idea that her life had changed forever. She felt warmer, despite the wet clothes which, because of dust they were pouring on her, were probably getting muddy.

She stood up, craning her sore neck. Admittedly she didn't know what to ask... start over? Explain why us? Why here? Why now? All that came out was,

"You're supposed to guide us? Who is us?"

"Please, everyone, calm down," Cheyl waved her hands about in front of her, she was bombarded with questions that half of which she couldn't answer. She wasn't Engrant, her Master's needs were something far too big to handle and she didn't know the answers to everything only the instructions for their tale. Cheyl brushed her radiant red hair to the side as she looked all around. "I do not know these answers, I do not know why you are chosen out of everyone else in Sumacai'a, but I do know that it is my duty to take care of you all as we travel to Vercelis and restore Sumacai'a, I know it sounds too good or too bad to be true, but I cannot do anything. I am just a mere red Sprite of whom was created to be the one to guide you." Cheyl explained as she flew over to the strange male, her eyes very focused into his as she instructed, "That staff is never to be touched by anyone else, but yourself." She then pressed her hand on the male's forehead and she closed her eyes, a small glow on her small hands as she had given him the rest of then power and a spell to enchant something from the staff. "It's not a lot in terms of spells, but it is something to begin with, it is a spell to cast a shield on either one of these people here, that is all I can provide as we do really need that book. The book will enhance the spells while you hold the staff, you will have to chant the words though as they won't work without the chant, it has so many spells I would probably not be able to count it."

Cheyl turned towards another, the one they called Healing Water. Instead of the forehead, she sat onto his hand, she closed her eyes and once again glowed. That time her hair was getting shorter, she inhaled deeply as her eyes reopened to simply smile at the human male. "You are Vyse, am I correct?" Cheyl wasn't sure who was who, but she was given the names of the people of which she has to predict who and what power Engrant has entitled them to have. "You are the Healing Water, your ability is to control water and heal the people of this world. Those who have fallen to the plague and cursed to be doomed the same as Vercelis' people, horrid and having to be slaves and forced to killing those of different towns." She released a small smile before she pushed herself from being on the palm of the Healer, she flapped her wings and wandered over to the Flame Breather.

"Flame Breather," Cheyl sounded more comfortable with the Nymph Female. "Being one who breathes fire is the one I possibly can help to pushing your abilities as I am a Red Sprite," She pressed her small hands on the female's lips, her eyes closed as she felt her hair shorten a bit more while she glowed. There was something wrong in the process that she was pushed away from the woman, the Sprite's eyebrow lofted as she reopened her eyes crying, her head shook in denial. "Please do not tell me that you are someone whose heart changes whenever she thinks it is right to do so? You cannot move to the other side, the Flame Breather is a hard power to hold as it is occasionally incontrollable, that is why I was created red and not the others," Cheyl shook her head as she wiped the small drops from her cheek, she released a small sigh as she added, "I do hope you are one of those people who were given a talent and crossed to the other side to betray Engrant."
Cheyl was more afraid of having allow the Flame Breather to have her power than to just let Cheyl hold it for herself, but Engrant requested for one of the chosen six, and from all the possible candidates, Engrant chose a woman that appeared to be one of those who cannot handle the power.

The Sprite then transferred herself to the Half-Elf female who may have one of the most important roles, she floated down and touched the feet of the woman, her eyes closed and eventually her hair was reaching the jaw line. It seemed that each time she was using her powers and she was already weakened, her hair was growing shorter and her glow had slowly dimmed down. Cheyl shivered the moment she finished her chanting, she weakly flew to an eye level to the Half-Elf. "I granted you the power to be the Mother of the Earth, Engrant had instructed me to tell you that you and the Father of the Sky are best to work with one another, you abilities are stronger and both of you have similar tasks. You, Mother Earth, have the abilty to be one with Sumacai'a, the trees, ground, rocks and it's creatures are your children, you control them and it is also your task to cure them from the pain they suffered from Vercelis' cruelty. When we travel
further to the shattered lands, you are to heal Sumacai'a with the help of the Father of the Skies."

Speaking of the Father of the Skies.
She flew over to him and landed on his shoulders, she chanted once again as she felt her hair get more shorter and her power getting weaker than it was supposed to. But that was what happened when one had chanted for seven whole years in order to retrieve those chosen six, Cheyl didn't think badly of them for making her weak, but she had felt bad that their lives were forever changing once they are fully granted of their powers.
"Father of the Skies," She stood up on his shoulder. "You have the ability to make it rain, to make lightning storms and blizzards. Whichever suits the moment, and your powers will aid Mother of the Earth in the quest to heal Sumacai'a from the pain." Cheyl cleared her throat and tried to fly to the last one, she was unbalanced in her flight and she wobbled as well as fly up and down towards the Light Keeper. Cheyl landed in the hands of the Light Keeper, she was pantif and she was nearly out of the glow she had after summoning them. "Light Keeper," She called her. "Close your hands around me as I chant."

In her sight, everything grew dark and everything no longer existed as she was held between the hands of the Light Keeper. Cheyl closed her eyes and felt a strong glow around her, it was red like usual, instead it was a yellow light that brightened the whole dark space, she shut her eyes tighter to make sure she would no see as she muttered the chant from between her lips, her eyes shed tears of red liquid and she began to feel the pain on her body.
By the end of her chant, Cheyl the Sprite was on her side, lying down and panting. Her hair was short, about ear length and her glow was no longer visible, her wings flopped weakly into the hands o the one that carried her. Cheyl exhaled weakly. "Light Keeper, your foe is the one who holds the Shadows, he held the Shadows after being granted by Engrant many years ago, and now he is stronger with Vercelis the Dark Spell Caster allowing him to regenerate each time he takes a life in this war. It is you, Light Keeper, who must shine a light inthe darkness of the plagued lands, once the Mother of the Earth, Father of the Skies and the Healing Water has finished healing, you must shine a light over the lands in order for Vercelis' army to never return."
With all her strength, Cheyl flew to the rock she sat on when she summoned them, well she crash landed and her eyes closed.

"Be warned, Vercelis and the Shadow Keeper is after your powers, do not let them capture you." She flinched and she muttered, "Rest, by Dawn tomorrow, we leave to the Mountains to retrieve Engrant's book."

Cheyl the Sprite fell unconsious after that.

As the sprite left Brandy's hands, Brandy stood in utter shock. She had never felt anything like this. The glow which had begun in her hands had spread over her entire being. For several minutes, all she could do was stand focus on experiencing this odd sensation. Then, she was surprised to realise that she somehow new how to control the light.

For the next few minutes, she practiced concentrating the light into a smaller area, moving it from one area of her body to another, changing the color and intensity of the light. She was completely fascinated by even the most minute properties of the light. Before this, she had never concidered the concept of light as a physical thing. It was merely the result of creating flame, or a product of the risen sun. Now, she understood it as a seperate concept.

After playing with her new ability for a bit, seeing just how much she could fine-tune her control, she moved off a bit from the others. She did not wish to endanger them while testing the upper limits of her abilities. She quickly learned that she could make her light brighter than the sun, and that she could shape the light to her will. She also learned that she could manifest the light away from herself, on an object, or even in the air, as long as she could see her target location.

As night fell, she discovered that even the smallest amount of light, such as the light of stars before moonrise, could be amplified for her eyes. This meant that anywhere there was even the faintest lightsource, she would be able to see as well as in full daylight. Before returning to the group, and finding a spot to sleep, she practiced creating a glow so faint and widely dispersed that only her eyes would be able to detect it. Having thus explored her new skills, Brandy felt confident that she would be able to survive whatever the next day might bring.

Svenrine was incredibly insulted. Why was she the only one who got fear and shaking and doubt? It was foreboding, and deeply hurtful. Svenrine had always prided herself on drive and determination, unfaltering loyalty...

Her hand rested unconsciously on her lips. The troubling thought of a sprite judging her as unworthy, in a situation she already couldn't understand, it was all so overwhelming. Why her? Why her if she wasn't even wanted? What was she doing? The questions started to pile up. It was exactly the sort of situation which made Svenrine crack.

She listened almost enviously to the other positions, they sounded so soothing and good. The sprite's voice never shook with tremors of distaste, never judged the character of one off of nothing, nothing.

Nothing! Obviously the sprite just didn't like her. Svenrine hardly felt like talking. How vain of her. She was personally insulted, and somehow that weighed more than her intense confusion or the fact that other people were similarly bound to an uncertain fate.

She didn't move far from the group, she wanted to talk... she did. Mainly she wanted to know what was going on. She didn't even realize she had power, it simply didn't occur to her. She was too preoccupied with the wounds of vanity and uncertainty which had so long remained closed. In a second she was with her sisters, being called ugly and worst of all "about to turn."

What was she? A fish carcass? For so long she had marked all her insecurities on appearance, and now this little red light had stung through to her soul.

She laid her head back against a tree, breathing out slowly. Her breath was warmer than usual, it probably meant to reeked. At this point she wanted to break down and cry, not only was she freaking out over minute details, she realized she was breaking down and had no power to stop it. Thankfully, utter stubbornness was her savior. She wouldn't be weak, a personal agenda towards that little red blot... She would just act tired... tired.

Her mind was clear soon, she focused on the bigger picture. She was... fire breather. Fire. Fire. She tried to think of fire. She didn't produce any, nor did anything out of the ordinary happen. She just thought of it. It burned, it was beautiful, it broke down anything it touched to Earth. Fire was the mother of Earth in a sort of way, the ash fell down, that became the Earth, from the Earth broke out water, which dissipated, vaporized into the air above. Fire burnt that air, and it all started again.

Vyse couldn't believe what he was hearing. He wasn't about to let himself be led blindly into danger by a leader who didn't even answer most of the questions thrown in her direction. Yet, if he were in that situation himself, he wouldn't be able to come up with any answers either. He'd probably just leave the company and try to forget everything that had happened. The thought, however, did cross his mind. Last time he checked, he was very close to a village which could contain information on his family. Now, he was completely lost and didn't have a map on him. Way to go.. The thought echoed sarcastically in his mind.

This really was an unusual situation for Vyse to be finding himself in. He opened his mouth as if to protest but shut it immediately as he found he was unable to form any words. He was caught off guard by the fact she had invaded his personal space without his consent and was about to pull back but stared at her in puzzlement as she rested in the palm of his hand. The young man sighed and shook his head. He had heard of tales involving some sort of magical person being able to control the elements but how would he be able to control water? That just didn't seem humanly possible. Vyse's hands felt different though, like there was some sort of force coursing through them, surging through him like an electric wave. Vyse couldn't shake the feeling that he might actually believe a stranger he had just met, a stranger who was a red sprite. Maybe this was proof that something like magic really did exist. I don't even know this Cheyl...Or the others to be exact. He contemplated as he watched Cheyl fly over to the next person. The sprite touched a different point each time and he wondered if this was how magical creatures granted other beings strange magical abilities. A peculiar little thing.

After the sprite had finished, he noted that the brilliant glow he had seen her with was barely visble from his spot. She did give them a final warning though, one that made him feel uneasy for a moment. He let out a long breath. "Alrighty then..." Vyse said quite unsurely after the sprite advised that they all rest before she collapsed on the stone. The young man briefly wondered if the sprite was alright but figured it was better to not concern himself with a stranger. With a permanent scowl set on his face, Vyse walked further along the edge of the lake, trying to think of what options he had available at the current time. Not much if he were to count. He could leave now but in a new area like this, maybe it was better to have safety in numbers. His black boots splashed against the water's edge and he stopped to stare out into the deep lake that had cushioned the fall he and the others had gone through, his hands instinctively reaching up for the loose pendant around his neck. "Why me? Did karma really catch up with me after all this time? So I accidentally disturb a sleeping bear." He murmered, remembering how he was chased all the way from the forest trail. "How is that wrong?"

Vyse cleared his mind and concentrated only on the water with narrowed eyes. He slowly dropped his hand from the pendant and waved it across the water, not caring of how incredibly foolish he looked. Up we go... At first, the surface of the lake rippled but that was all it did at first. Vyse tilted his head in puzzlement and tried again. This time, small droplets of water swirled upwards in a spiral that looked more like a translucent, coiled snake emerging from its hiding spot on the ground. With fascination, Vyse watched as the it gathered into a blob near his raised hand, swirling and dancing gracefully as his eyes widened in astoundment. "By the gods..." He jerked back with a start, the water returning to the lake with a splash that sprayed him with an additional amount of water. With an incoherent grumble, he dug his hands into his pockets and moved to sit on a dry patch of grass away from the other chosen ones. For all he knew, someone might dispose of him when he isn't aware.

What just happened? What was the significance of this staff? How could it stop bullets? It was just a piece of wood, nothing more. And yet, somehow, Clayton thought that the little sprite may have had something backing her theory up. After all, she was a six-inch tall flying woman who could sprinkle light particles on anyone and give them magic powers. But Clayton - ever the fundamentalist - retained his suspicions.

Which was why he was doing what he was doing right now.

The loamy soil had eaten Clayton's tall boots, right up to the ankle, as he stood on the shore of the lake. The staff stuck out of the ground nearby, pointing straight up into the sky, aiming itself at the moon like a 6-foot tall middle finger at the gods. His left hand held one of his massive revolvers, the twelve-inch silver barrel reflecting the moonlight as it pointed out over the lake's waters. The ivory grip was cool against the skin of his hand as he held it out, aiming into the woods. One hand slowly went back to the hammer, thumbing it back with ease, the well-oiled instrument clicking into place in the quiet night air with an audible snikt.

Clayton slowly squeezed the revolver's trigger.

That quiet, peaceful night was shattered by eight loud THOOMs breaking out across the waters of the lake, followed by the sound of birds and wildlife scattering from where eight high-velocity steel projectiles came whining into their lives. Nothing had died, but eight trees suddenly had fist-sized holes punched in their trunks. The gunshots calmed Clayton's nerves, allowing him to think clearly. He lowered the silver pistol into its holster and crossed his arms, staring at the staff.

"Well then," Clayton grunted at the gnarled piece of wood, "You want to tell me what you're supposed to do once I get that book?" Silence. "Well then," Clayton grunted, "I guess you're a cudgel from now on. Until you give up what I want you to give up." Silently, the gunman thumbed eight shells into the now-empty cylinders of his revolver.

It was, perhaps, the last peaceful moment Svenrine would enjoy for a while.

Fittingly, it was ruined by a gunshot. She was just thinking it through, tasting it, feeling it, really breathing it all in. Fire, it burned, it moved without effort or desire. It was entirely emotionless and yet represented passion. Was humanity right? Was fire love and anger and overindulgence of emotion? Or was it cynical and proverbially cold, uncaring as it burned merely to survive. Fire doesn't like going out, it holds to embers, it sustains and sustains.

"MOTHER OF GOD"

A loud bang had caused Svenrine to swear profusely as she violently bite down on her tongue and as she scrambled back against the tree, a bright light exploded from in front of her, searing the ground and charring the tree branches.

As she spat a little blood out onto the ground, she realized she was covered in soot. Part of her just wanted to crawl up and cry.

Philosophy be damned. Fire was just dangerous. No fancy connotations, no deeper poetic meaning, it was just dangerous.

Svenrine cracked her neck as she pulled off her brown gown and undid some of her leather straps. She brushed off the revealed part of her bright purple tunic, and started to wash off her face and arms in the water.

She splashed water on her face, enjoying the cold against her apparently slightly burnt skin. The cool didn't last, though, soon she was dry and warm again. For some reason, dry and warm were not as pleasurable as they once were.

By Svenrine's accounts, everything had gone wrong in one very dramatic moment. She still hadn't the slightest clue about what was going on, and now she got "blessed" with a power she didn't want, and beyond that, she left her otherwise comfortable position as cook and occasional blacksmith to go on some quest for a deranged little glorified butterfly that was almost surely going to end in disaster, if not just because Svenrine had no idea how many times more huge bangs would go off, thus causing another random, uninvited fireball to take residence right in front of her.

To Svenrine, it was all just a bad joke told in a bad dream. Double unreal. Doubly meaningless. She hung up the longer gown to dry, even though she herself was already perfectly dry, almost parched for moisture.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

...So... This is dead? I prodded it with a yodel and nothing really happened...

I have a few eulogies I could go through, a nice list of Shakespearean sonnets that ring quite nicely with the idea of death and moving on and all that...

Or not?

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

YODELLLLL.

Yes, I'm still here. I was waiting for more reactions.

And I also sent out reminder PMs to people.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

yeah... i hear the echo too...

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

Should I yodel to test for an echo?

Yodel ay ee oo?

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

I'm sorry.
But yes, it's only for the people who are already in.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

So can I make someone or is this just for the people that are already in?

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

Accepted.

It's official.
The character slots are full. We can start.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

:) No worries.. I'll just re-edit.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

Yeah I saw..
Hmm... I kind of need a Female for the Earth, because the character made for the Parent of the Skies is male, and they are somewhat "opposite" in terms of genders.

Sorry.. You can either edit the character or create one for Earth. I'm really sorry.

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

e __ e Erm.. I created a character for Healing Water. But.. she's a female..

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

Two more people are still missing before we finally begin our Quest.

Mother of the Earth (Female)
Healing Water (Male)

Re: [OOC] Quest for Engrant the Great

Engrant the Great still requests Two females and One male to aid the quest to retrieve and rescue him to restore the world of Sumacai'a to normal.

He calls upon a Mother of the Earth, Healing Water and the Light Keeper.
