Adriana is spirited and there is a fire beneath the surface. She knows she can be easy prey for others but uses her quick thinking to stay out of range and it adds to her easy charm. She refuses to be tamed or controlled. Her strong-will can either be enticing or off putting depending on the topic of conversation. Her greatest beauty however, is that of the spirit. Though this rose has thorns, Adriana had a love of man and nature. She likes to see the good in others and this translate into a gentle, nurturing regard for others. She's taken a fascination with herb craft and healing and as such, Adriana lacks the soft touch one of her status should pridefully boast. Her hands are rough with light scars from thorns and weed pulling and she wouldn't have it any other way.
And like her older brother, she would rather wear simple clothing suited for working. She has a disdain for tight corsets and frilly dresses that hinder movement though she understands their necessity at gatherings. Once the party starts, she prefers staying the background. She's a wallflower, not because she lacks personality or is shy, but because she knows not many men would appreciate what's in her head and other noble ladies are a bore prone to idle gossip.

Willful β¦ Compassionate β§ Sensitive β¦ Adaptiveβ§ Resilient β¦
Adriana has a strong sense of self and what it is she values in her life. She knows that she hasn't chosen the easiest path, but it is the one that gives her the most purpose. Ever since she was a young girl, she found a fascination with the fact that a certain herb or combination of herbs could ease pain, stop infection, prolong someone's life or heal them completely. There was a scientific wonder in its exploration and against the wishes of those around her, pursued it. She loves to experiment and research different affects. Since many in her life disapprove of her doing this, she has learned to have a thicker skin about the topic and hides it from everyone but her brothers. She is willful and headstrong but there is a certain vulnerability beneath the bravado. She's sensitive to what others think and it can bring her down if she lets herself feel the emotions and break down. Avery is her sounding board when she ever feels upset or discouraged, but then the next day she bounces back and continues her course of actions as if nothing had changed.
Adriana's assurance of herself and her course of action can make her seem haughty and arrogant. She doesn't listen well to others though she does file it away for later pondering. She can be cold, calculated, and logical. At least she appears to be. In reality, she is very worried about others and puts their well-being before her own. She's just learned to keep her skills to herself until she knows she can trust someone. If she could give up her noble status, she would, in favor of a nice little hut in the woods where she can collect herbs, study them, and heal others. She understands those in her position do not dabble in such things and many would call her a witch or would not trust her skills with herbs. Most assume it is a skill only men can truly learn as women are dull-witted of course. And so, Adriana keeps her abilities under a tight lid, but under that armor is someone ready to devote her life to others.
Like the gazelle her father fondly named her, Adriana is flexible and often changes course as rapidly as a gazelle changes direction. Good luck trying to force her to change her ideas however. If she does not want to change, she will stand her ground and bare her horns and become as immovable as a mountain. She is completely self-directed and will take what others have to say with a grain of salt. She is a strong woman and values study and improving of oneself and others. Little else gives her purpose and finds herb-craft the most fulfilling thing she can do with her time. Not only does it benefit her family, but it can benefit others and animals to ensure quality of life, and prolonged life. Her compassion for others is what continues to drive her desires though you would not think it just by looking at her.
Just like Avery, she was raised learning about honor and selflessness and plies that to her decisions. She wants to do good in the world, and as a woman, there are few opportunities to do so. She refuses to be a plaything in politics. She wants her life to have real concrete value and purpose and she makes it obvious in any discussion that she is not a simple house wife that will cow in fear of her husband. Her father taught her how to fight up close if needed and has picked up archery. She practices alongside her brothers and it has given her a confidence that she does not need to rely on any man for her protection. This desire to stand on her own was further fueled by the way Avery's lover died. She never wants to be in a position where she cannot defend herself. All in all, Adriana is a whirlwind and good luck to any man that tries to keep up with her or stop her.

Adriana is the second born child of the Thatcher house. There was a bit of an age difference between her and Avery but that hasn't affected their relationship in any way. Adriana feels close to both her brothers, though she is the closest in age to Elliot. She looks up to Avery in many ways and respects him for trying so hard to help her and protect her. When they were growing up Avery was a little more distant but Adriana always slipped away from her mother's lessons to watch her brother train with the sword and shield and wished she too could join. When her younger brother began to grain with Avery, she felt affronted that she couldn't be a part of it. Her father eventually gave in to her persistent pleads that she be included. Lord William taught his daughter to protect herself if it ever came down to it, but also how to use a bow and arrow for hunting game. Adriana was thrilled with the lessons and happily trained beside her siblings, much to her mother's chagrin.
Adriana was 11 when Avery's lover was murdered and the secret came to light. Adriana felt horrible for her brother and she too was hurt that he would keep such a huge part of his life secret. The woman's fate concerned her and she really understood the plight of a woman and how important it was to be able to stand on your own without relying on someone else for protection. She wanted to be an equal, a force to be reckoned with, and she and Avery grew closer as she tried to comfort him, as young as she was, during his time of mourning. This was the beginning of Adriana's pursuit to helping others. She and Avery often took walks through the fields together or went on small trips into the forest where she began to learn the names of plants and from her brother, learned that some, if mixed correctly, were great to heal wounds. The whole idea fascinated her and she began to spend long hours practicing the craft and learning about the events. She first started using her knowledge to help the horses and other animals they had on the farm lands.
At first, her parents indulged the curiosity, assuming that eventually she would grow bored of the tedious discipline and find something else to occupy her time. When her interest only grew, it began to worry her parents and Lady Ophelia told Adriana to stop the foolishness or she'd never find a man and she'd become an ugly hermit. The thought scared her at first but more and more she found she wouldn't care so much if she could help others. It wasn't until her mother told her others would think she was a witch that she understood her mother's fear for her safety in the future from people who didn't understand. From then on, she continued her craft in secret and only when she could get away with it; a pursuit Avery and Elliot helped her achieve when they could.
Now and then, the burden makes Adriana second guess herself and she wonders if she should really stop, though the thought hurts her on the inside. At those times, she runs to her brother Avery for solace who happily listens to her concerns and provides her with encouragement or warning. No matter her decision, Adriana knows her brothers love her unconditionally. She knows that sometimes she infuriates Avery with her refusal to listen, but his devotion assures her that in the end, she is on the right path, even if frowned upon by society. She will continue her pursuits and eventually she hopes she can continue it without fear of persecution.
