Alone Together
âIâm not interesting. Take your damn curiosity elsewhere.â
Name
Nayu Lati
Nickname(s)
Nai. Gio and Yayoi could never pronounce his name when they were all younger, so Nai became the normal name that was used for him in his family. While he doesnât mind other people giving him names other than his given, he doesnât tell them of this one, as it is special to him.
Role
The Caring Asshole
Age
19
Gender
Male
Romantic Interest(s)
Though Nayu has had his fair share of past flames, there is only one that he is sure will hold his heart. The very person who opened his eyes to the darkness and reality that resides even in the fictional worlds. The boy who told him to face the world head on, and to do it for him, because he was unable to. The only boy Nayu would die for.
Sexuality
Pansexual
âIf you donât think Iâm attractive as fuck, get your eyes checked.â
Hair
Nayuâs hair is what many call white, but it is much more than that. Unlike white, his hair holds a powder blue tint to it, not enough to be noticed by anyone who took a passing glance at him, but enough if someone were to stare at his hair for hours. Which he does. A lot. Itâs a constant unruly mess that wins every battle that Nayu fights with it, its straight and curly locks brushing against his cheeks with their feather light weight, while other sections fall gracelessly into his eyes and disrupt his vision.
Eyes
There is no definite color for Nayuâs eyes. Some days they glow silver, while when the light hits them perfectly, they are a stunning light blue. Many, meaning himself and his family, call it silver-blue, which isnât correct, as it is either silver or blue, but it doesnât really matter, now does it?
Skin
You would think that after playing outside all day, every day as a child would give him a sunkissed tan. But surprisingly it never did. Nayuâs skin is milky pale, not even holding a hint of any other color. The only thing offering any relief from his pale ass skin are the grass green tattoos he got as soon as he got back to Earth in memory of his passed lover.

Clothes
While on Earth, Nayu has found that he is unable to feel in place with his usual nature-loving tribal clothing. Though he now does not have a definite sense of âstyleâ (other than being stylish in of itself), Nayu does tend to wear simple white shirts with black ties, black pants or form fitting jeans, and boots. The occasional scarf will replace the tie every now and again.
Accessories
A simple dog tag necklace with four dog tags, each bearing the name of one of his family members.
Weapons
In the fantasy worlds, Nayu is used to the feel of a sword in his hands, or at least the weight of it somewhere on his body. Now that he is back on Earth, and is without his trusty swords, he settles for an almost new, black umbrella.
âCry, and Iâll punch you in the face so hard, your eyes will bleed.â

Fears
Fire
In one of his worlds, Nayu was subject to watch a whole forest burn to the ground because the water nymphs could not make it in time to save it. Watching the fire lick up all the animals, as well as destroy all his trees, was a traumatizing event for him.
Heights
Itâs not really anything he can place. It has been engrained into his very being. Seeing the tops of the trees, and even the tops of the mountains, should not be possible. And so he does not like it.
Lightening
Lightening can bring fire if it was to strike something, and therefore it just brings us back to the fear of fire. We have come full circle everybody.
Personality
The first run in you will ever have with Nayu will probably not go well. He might curse you out, kick you down, scowl in your direction and stalk off like the big bad person he is. Thatâs just how he reacts to these types of things. Donât take it personally. Keep running into him. Donât follow him though. That will earn you a nice beating, and a parting punch in the face. Now Nayu isnât violent by any means. In fact, he rather hates fighting against other people. But that doesnât mean he wonât do it. Because he will. Donât test him, heâs pretty scary when he wants to be.
After the first meeting, or first couple of meetings, the violent nature that Nayu pulls off as a front will start to disappear, and there will be another side to him. It is the first of many, but you have to start somewhere with the guy, donât you? Anyways, this step is just the beginning. He usually comes off as rude and sarcastic, with a heavy side of i-donât-give-a-fuck and donât fucking touch me. It would be easy to say to ignore that and do as you please, but if you donât want a punch to the face, and another beating, heed these warnings and listen to him. Nayu is quick to anger, though many times he does not show it beyond a few choice words, deep breathing, and rubbing some part of his body that is, or was, littered in tattoos. Itâs a sort of remind to him of his lost love, and how he would want Nayu to act. And if you were to ask him, if you were that close to him, he would tell you. This isnât who he really is. Heâs a much better person deep down. Itâs really deep, but hey man. Itâs still there. Hiding behind years of anguish. And by years, I mean a month of two. His life wasnât that tragic.
As Nayu gets used to someone he doesnât know whatsoever, sarcasm is his best friend. They donât usually mean to hurt anyone, but with the cold and aloof front he has going on, even if they did, he wouldnât show if he cared or not. Blue eyes are constantly on guard, only slipping when he is feeling a particular emotion stronger then he normally would. This mainly refers to anger and pain, though amusment is known to slip in now and then. Barbed words seems to be the only thing he speaks in, offering advice in the form of insults, and encouragement in the form of physical pain. But really, itâs not all that bad. In all honesty though, were did this kidâs life go wrong to make him such an angry person. Seriously.
Sarcasm isnât his only friend, though it is his favored. Being rude goes hand in hand with its buddy Mister Sarcasm and Nayu is a pro and manipulating both of them to his will. Where sarcasm is words with a double meaning, being rude is blatantly saying exactly what he thinks without a care for how anyone else will like it. Nayu walks that line. He toes at it, steps out of it and dances back in while naked and singing folk songs about nature. Not really, but you get the point. The line of sarcasm and downright rude is something Nayu blurs so often that many times he isnât sure if he is insulting someone, or hoping the correct their mistakes and do better next time.
With blatant rudeness, comes the feeling of not caring. Nayu has mastered that. Feelings? Fuck âem. Who needs them nowadays? No one thatâs who. To Nayu, feelings are overrated, overstated, over dramatized, and 100% not needed. Who cares? Certainly not him. Feelings got hurt? Youâre a pussy for letting it show. Someone pissed you off? Calmly beat the life out of them. Itâs not hard. Feelings meant that things could hurt you. And believe him when he says he has had enough of that for a lifetime. When youâre running for your life, with or without people, feelings are just going to get in your way. They blur your vision when you see someone that walks like someone you used to know. They break you down when you do something that had to be done, but was no less painful while knowing that information. And that is why Nayu stays away from it. The hurt, the pain, the torment that comes with returning to Earth, is so much easier to lock away and forget about the happier feelings. This isnât to say he doesnât feel them, because he does. He wonât tell anyone, especially if he just met them, but he knows the feelings well. He just ignores them, brushes them off as inconveniences and moves on with life.
Now I want you to do something for me. I want you. To take everything that has been said about Nayu Lati. And throw it out the window.
Nayu is a soft hearted, sweet hearted young man. His sarcasm is a defense mechanism designed to keep out those who only talk to him either because of his looks, or are the type of people who take the surface personality of everyone instead of digging deeper. Nayu would be the first to advice someone to not wear their heart on their sleeve because itâs a cruel world, trying to take back Earth. People will stab others in the back, others will do it right in front of them. He knows that feelings on the battlefield are a sure way to die. Now this doesnât mean he is a heartless person, he is far from that. In his own way, Nayu cares for everyone he meets. Holding them at armâs length is best for everyone, but he will do anything to help them, if they asked for it. Carefully worded advice here, a punch and a shout there to get someone back on the right track and he feels like he has done his job as best as he could, given the circumstances of the situation. To him, Earth is a battle ground, and sympathy donât belong on it. And if it did, it was in short and very small doses.
âHe was the light of my life. Nothing can replace him. So donât talk about him.â

History
Nayu was born on the World of Enlightenment and Creatures. It was basically a world where the medieval time was rampant. Lucky for him, he was born into the higher tier of class. Not quite royalty, but his father and mother were close to them. Friends from another world, is what he heard. Later he found that was a lie. But honestly, he was like 2. He could be lying to himself for all he knew. He spent his first years on this world, learning the ways of a gentleman, and the ways of the sword. When he was only 3 years old, his older brother Gio took him to the roof of the castle, only to have to carry him down when Nayu refused to move from his place at the edge of the roof. He was never taken to any high place ever again.
When he was eight, they switched worlds. Nayu doesnât remember much the world, other than the fact that him and Gio, and later his little sister when she was able to toddle around, would play around in the corn and wheat fields from dawn until dusk. And every day his mother would give them each a little something for lunch. It was an easygoing time for all three of them. Yayoi looked up to her older brothers and mimicked them at every chance she got, and in turn, Gio and Nayu taught her how to be an excellent swordswomen. At least what they thought were the skills needed to be a master swords teacher. After they deemed her acceptable, they forgot about running around in the fields aimlessly and instead came up with fighting games, clashing sticks together and falling against the hard dirt. More times than not, once Yayoi, Yaya to her brothers, learned to fight all three of them would come home covered in mud and leaves, and often bleeding from some cut on their body.
Three years later they left the unnamed world, with Gio being 14, Nayu being 13, and Yayoi being 4. At this point, Gio was told to go off on his own, as he was old enough to learn skills that his family could not teach him. It would be another four years before Nayu saw his older brother again, though it would not be a happy reunion.
When he was 15, and on his own, he arrived at the World of Nymphs and Nature. It was a simple world, divided into four peaceful nymph clans; water, air, fire, and earth. With his natural affinity for knowing what the land wanted, Nayu didnât hesitate to join the Earth Nymphs, determined to become a master in all things to do with the land. He stayed for many years, as the years in this world were in fact, five times faster than Earthâs years. But that being said, the nymphs lived much longer then the normal human years and going into the world at the tender age of 15, he was considered a child, as 25 was considered the teenage years of a nymph. The first five years were spent getting training in common herbs and what mixed well with what, and cured what disease. He found out that while still wanting to become the master of the land, in his mind that meant exploring, he found peace in becoming a different type of land master; an herb specialist. By the time the first five years were over, and his young teenage years began, he was going off and finding herbs of all sorts for his Master, even going ahead and storing them as well as mixing them and making house calls to the sick.
It was at this time he met a boy just a nymph year younger than him by the name of Marcario, though he was told to just call him Kari. He was a sickly child, his skin pale from not enough sun, making him look almost like a deep sea nymph. Pitying the younger boy, Nayu spent every chance he got with the boy, talking to him in his gentle but gruff manner, finding joy in making the other laugh and smile. Over the next couple years they became much closer than friends. Kariâs keeper could find the two of them curled together in the same bed on the many days that Kari was bed ridden, and out in the grass fields on the days that Nayu was able to get him out of bed and carry him. They werenât a perfect couple, though fights were far and few between then. They had their differences that they didnât speak of, and took solace in simple everyday things. âI love youâsâ were never spoken outright, but through the giddy and overly excited actions of Kari on his good days, and the tender squeeze of his hand against Nayuâs on his bad days, they were never needed. Nayu made sure that Kari and his keeper had a well-stocked supply of herb mix for his illness for when he could not be with him. Because even though he wanted to spend every waking minute of his time with the single person he cared for, his Master had died the year before and he was left to continue the work.
When Nayu hit 30, Kari had a streak of good luck, where he was almost never sick. Hopeful thinking brought the older teen to the conclusion that he was finally over his illness, and ignored the voice in the back of his head that told him otherwise. They did things they were unable to do before. They traveled down to visit the water nymphs, and Kari convinced Nayu to get multiple green inked tattooâs from a rouge earth nymph on the journey back. It was a miracle he didnât get some sort of herb poisoning. They shared their first kiss under the late night stars, and their first date in the grassy field Nayu would carry Kari to on his bad days. There were many times that the elder would show up to the herb cave only to find Kari already there, sitting on the stone table, his white and blue robes hanging loosely on his body. As two years passed, they stopped sharing just a kiss or two here and there. Late night meetings at each otherâs house would result in night robes being discarded, and bodies slick with sweat until the next morning. Sitting on the stone table in the herb cave would cause the Nayu to be almost 2 hours behind on his house call runs, his hair a mess, and his robe askew and crumbled in the back. The two of them lived in bliss, never mentioning how Kari got over his illness. They took it and continued with their simple lives. A few month after Kari hit 32, he moved into Nayuâs house that he inherited from his Master. They spent the next few nights in bed together, robes slipping to the floor each and every time. Moonlight would spill in through the window, making Kariâs milk white skin glow, his grass green eyes reflecting the light. On the third night with Kari living with him, Nayu uttered the words âI love you.â
Two months later, Kari was struck once more with his sickness, and it seemed to be worse than before. He couldnât get out of bed for many months, and Nayu, as much as he wanted to care for him and him only, had to train his apprentice and run the herb cave. There was many days that the elder carried his lover to the cave and took care of him there, fussing over everything until he was forced to go back to work.
Nothing worked. He had tried everything, but nothing seemed to cure, or even alleviate the pain of Kariâs illness. On top of it, he started coughing up blood, splattering one of his robes. Nayu didnât know what do to. He would have done anything to get the right herb mix.
2 weeks later, just a few days after Nayu turned 35, Kari died. His last words were I love you too.
âGet the hell out.â
