Samantha Kendal

"This would be so much better if the Kendal four were together."

0 · 359 views · located in Center City

a character in “Resident Evil: Awakening”, as played by AvengerSpirit

Description

Name: Samantha Kendal

Age: 18

Gender: female

Height: 5’7’’

Hair: Black

Eye Color: blue

Skin Tone: Has a farmer’s tan. Is slightly tanned all year around, meaning she never loses her summer tan ever.

Blood Type: A+, Rh factor positive

Personality: Sammie is a decently outgoing person. She has a small tight knit group of friends that she loves dearly and would be willing to die for. But at the same time, she is with drawn and introverted. She likes to spend time by herself, but she knows when its time to man up and do what needs to be done. Of course, she has her own moments of freak outs and doesn’t act her age.
Dress: Prefers simple jeans and a t shirt. Tees are usually solid in color and has an array of them. Wears normal sneakers, though she only wears the name brand. Her shoes are the one thing she spends money on because she wants the best.

Weapons: Has a two Colt 1911 Defender .45 ACP Stainless, her favorites. Also has a Remington 270 Winchester Semi- auto and a Winchester SX3 SYN 12g shotgun. Plus a variety of knives, but that includes the switch blade that she doesn’t go anywhere without.

Bitten: Luckily, no.

Where were you when the dead began to rise: At her father’s pawn shop, manning the store.

History: Samantha’s mother died when she was a young girl and she only has brief memories about her. So she was raised by her father and two older brothers. So she became more of a tomboy than a girlie girl, but she was quite happy with it. Only when it came to prom and other social events did it become hard. And dating was out of the question. Her father owned a pawn shop her whole life. Any time anything good came into the store, the children had first pick to the items if they were sold directly in or if they weren’t paid on in thirty days. Sammie, or Sam, loved the weapons just like her brothers. So she has a room full. When things started going wrong in the city, her brothers were out of town on a business trip, ha ha there and her father out on errands. So she was manning the store by herself. By the time chaos was in full swing, she had gone back to the house, gotten her weapons and other supplies the whole family kept ready for any type of emergencies and back to the shop where it was safest, she believed with the type of door they had. She knew the chances of her staying long weren’t going to happen, but she wanted to give her father some time to make it back. Of course, she never even thinks that he could be dead or like the creatures. He wasn’t the kind of man and she wasn’t letting herself believe anything could have happened to him.

So begins...

Samantha snapped awake, no longer sleeping very well anymore. Hell, she was sure no one if they were left alive would be sleeping very well right now. She wondered where her father was. He wasn’t a man to be taken down by these things. But wouldn’t he have made his way over to the shop already? She was sure he was on his way. Which was why she was afraid to go anywhere.

Standing up from her make shift pallet in the back room of the shop, she brushed herself off. The back room was the safest place to be as her father was one of the most paranoid people in the world. There was a chamber underneath the ground that she didn’t dare open. Plus, she hadn’t found the key to it yet. She could never remember where it was. Not to mention there were only two other ways into the store. The back door which was pure steel and heavy as hell to get open. And the front which was a roll down. She didn’t hold out much hope on it lasting much longer.

The windows had bars across them since they owned a pawn shop which made her life a lot simpler. Grabbing her weapons, she rolled up the bed and stood on the desk. Lifting the latch to the roof shaft, she pulled down a few steps before climbing out. There was no way to get from the ground to the roof without being inside of the store. Again luckily for her. But she was running out of food. And she needed to get more.

Would it be too much to ask for a clean change of clothes and a hot shower? She didn’t think so. Looking around, she watched the city. She could see the ones mulling around the shop. They knew she was here, but knew they couldn’t get to her. That was when she noticed a few explosions in the distance. She turned towards them, her heart beating wildly. Could it be her father? She really hoped so.

Sammie repressed a gulp as she looked around. There was no chance on getting to the ground. Did she dare try and leave her safe place? She was scared of doing it, but knew if she didn’t do something she would starve to death. Glancing around she looked at the closest roof to the shop.

“I’m going to need better supplies for this.” She whispered to herself afraid for the things below to hear her. Heading back down into the pawn shop, she closed the stairs and went to grab all of her weapons and then supplies to make it from roof to roof which she figured was a better way to travel than by foot on the ground. At least she hoped so.

Sammie packed her bag with ammo and food. Slipping the straps onto her back, she headed back up to the roof. From there she heard the noises that the pawn shop had kept from her ears. Noise meant other survivors. But it also meant attracting the things. Gulping, the girl shut the roof door behind her so that her safe haven would remain safe.

Moving across the roof, the girl went over to one side. The garbage can was over there. When she had run from the pawn shop to the house for food and clothing, she had pushed it away from the building so nothing could climb up onto it to get to the roof. Now jumping down wasn’t going to be the easiest thing in the world.

Judging the distance, she made sure her weapons were on safety just in case. Right now she was more afraid of shooting herself than she was of the creatures. Making sure everything was secure; she took a deep breath and jumped. She hit the top of the garbage container with a thud and winced. That hurt
a bit. She wasn’t a baby but it was a decent drop.

Glancing around, she made sure the coast was clear from what she could still see. The noises were still going on so if she was lucky she could find other survivors and hopefully her father. Jumping the last short distance to the ground, Sam took out one of her pistols, unlocked the safety and leveled the gun up. She looked around again before heading for the source of the noise. She only hoped she came up behind of the creatures and not in the middle.

Jenny put her foot on a trashcan, kicking it over as she leapt up onto the frame of a low wall that led her on to the roof of a coffee shop and she quickly ran across the roof toward the other side. The dogs were lost far behind her, unable to climb up without the trashcan she had knocked over. Fortune, it would seem, was in her favor for the moment. "Four bullets," Jenny whispered under her breath as she jumped down from the far side of the roof, grabbing a cord hanging off of the building to slow down her fall.

Her land left her in the pathway of Sammie, only a few meters ahead of where the woman was looking. Jenny's eyes slowly glanced up as she calculated. This city seemed more dangerous than she had originally given it credit for, and this girl looked like she was managing to survive in this environment. From what Jenny could tell, it didn't even seem like the creatures had gotten close to her.

"I am...Subject," She paused, "No, it would be easier for you to call me Jenny. You will allow me to accompany you, is that acceptable?" Jenny was strange, but looked rather helpless in her near defenseless state. She rethought her wording, "I would really like some help, please."

She’d heard noise, but was unable to tell where it was coming from. In this city that was going to be a bad thing. Judging by the sounds though, it wasn’t one of the creatures – lucky. Turning her gun, Samantha pointed it at the new comer. The safety was off, her index on the trigger. Her eyes narrowed as she took in the other female. Her brows furrowed at the clothing, appearance and then speech of Jenny.

Finally, she nodded her head and lowered the gun. Her index never left the trigger. Her father may not have trained her for a zombie attack, but he had made sure she was prepared to defend herself at all costs.

She nodded. “Sure. But you’ll need weapons.” The two girls would have to go back into the pawn shop, but it was better to be prepared than not. Jerking her head back towards the store, Sam clicked the safety back onto the gun, put it in the back of her waistband and started to move the dumpster back over to the wall. Once it was there, she moved on to the pallet beside it and broke off another board so that once up she would be able to move it away from the wall just like last time. “Come on. Let’s get you weapons.”

The girl climbed onto the trashcan and looked back at the other woman. Now she felt like she was baby sitting. Hopefully, the other girl could shoot. If not, she was going to be highly annoyed. Jumping up, Sammie grabbed a hold of the end of the roof and swung her leg over. She waited on Jenny before pushing the trashcan away from the wall.

“Precaution measures.” She explained simply as she walked over to the roof hatch and climbed back down into her safe haven. As soon as she was down, she stripped off her bags, closed the roof hatch between Jenny, and went around collecting things for the other girl. She didn’t know her strength so it was hard to judge what she would be able to use best. With that in mind, she grabbed a little bit of everything and brought it back. “Pick a few.”

Jenny was a little surprised at how helpful this human was being, she was by far the most helpful creature that Jenny could ever recall seeing. For that, Jenny decided she wouldn't try to kill the woman. Jenny slowly ascended upwards, feeling a strain in her muscles as she pulled herself up. "This seems as though you were more prepared than the other humans. Your survival rate will likely be much higher."

As she waited for the woman to return with whatever weapons she was grabbing, she took a brief look around. This place would hold for a while, perhaps if there was enough food and water, it could last indefinitely. If the human race was to survive, it would need to find a way to build sanctuaries like this one and a stable means of roof top to roof top transport that the creatures couldn't also access.

When Samantha returned, Jenny picked up one of the pistols and looked down its barrel. "Which of these are quiet? The creatures seem drawn by noise. I suspect they lack the ability to differentiate sounds as they seem to be drawn to noise regardless of its type."

Samantha stopped and looked at the other girl. She hadn’t even thought about that. “You’re a genius.” She remarked. Turning, she ran back into the actual shop part of the store and came back with a few silencers. “There are only a few here. See if any of them fit.” Her shot gun couldn’t be repressed and she knew that. But the silencer for her rifle was at the house. That she would have to get and the pistols with silencers caused feeding problems. She cursed under her breath. The only one she could silence was the rifle. Good thing she was great sniper.

The teen went around and collected some more stuff and loaded into a bag. She handed the bag over. “There its ammo and a few other supplies. We need to go to my house for other supplies and better stuff.” Better meaning her father’s guns. There was also a storm shelter under the house too, but she wasn’t tell anyone that because she couldn’t get into it most of the time.

“Oh, where are my manners. My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sammie or Sam, whichever. So why are you dressed like that around here?” Here, meaning with all that had happened. Her mind didn’t stay in the conversation very long before she went back to the idea about the noise.

“You know, I heard something from the tower a little bit ago. You think there could be other survivors?” She really meant her father, because she knew he wouldn’t go down easily. But any others would be a great blessing. “Or any ideas how to get out of here?” She asked, finally stopped to look at the girl.

Jenny looked surprised as the girl called her a genius, was she above average intelligence. The sample data was too short for her to judge, this was one of the few of the humans she had give a chance to speak with her at length. She picked up one of the silencers and looked through it, curious what this could possibly do. She placed it back down in order to pick up the bag, which she found quite heavy.

"Sam is a single syllable, this would work best for our interactions. I am dressed like this because I was previously captive without any coverings, I killed one of the captors and took his shirt. I cannot say why I did this, I am not entirely sure that I can justify any of my actions." She paused to think over everything that had happened. No, very little of it made any sense, best to not dwell on it.

She nodded her head, "Yes. There are other survivors, I have seen a few of them as I have been wandering. There were fewer of the beasts where I came from, but that may no longer be true. I have been relying on outpacing them or climbing to escape up till this point. I do not know what you mean by a way out, however. Is there another place?"

Okay, the other girl was weird to say the least. But weird was something she could deal with given the circumstances. “When we get to my house we’ll get you some clothes. I probably have something you could fit.” She remarked as she put her own bag back on and then slung the rifle back across her back and the shotgun, her favorite one too.

Sammie shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t care. We do what we have to, to survive.” She commented as she handed over another gun. “Keep a couple. There is ammo in the bag for them as well as some food. Not a lot, but it should do for a while.” She didn’t know why she was being so nice, but she needed someone else with her. She didn’t like being alone in this, so giving up some of her supplies was worth having someone else around.

At the news of others she nodded. “I thought so. I heard them. We should try to find them. My father has enough weapons to supply an army. I don’t think he’d mind given the circumstances.” She stated as she climbed back up onto the desk and pulled the stairs down. “After you.”

Since Jenny didn’t understand the part about an exit, she figured she was going to have to think of something on her own. Maybe the sewers, but she didn’t know the layout. There would be one in the city hall, though. If they could make it that far, but first she wanted as many survivors together as she could.

Jenny gave the woman a shurg, not really caring about clothing. It didn't seem like something to worry about. She pushed her hair back over her shoulders and took a hold of the handles of a couple of guns, though she didn't think she was likely to fire them unless trapped.

"Enough weapons for an army? Did he know that this was going to occur? Many of the humans seem as if they were caught unaware by this rise in activity among the creatures. I had assumed that they were a new predator to the area. Will your father have more information on them?" Jenny theorized that if she could find out more information about these creatures, it would lend to the extension of her survival.

Jenny paused before beginning down the stairs, for the first time she wondered about her own survival as someone inside the situation, instead of thinking that she was simply observing. It seemed probable that she would die and she came to the conclusion that this was acceptable. As she looked around at the bottom of the stairs she asked plainly, "Are you afraid of dying, Sam?"

As they walked past the cell phone Jenny aimed a gun at it but lowered the weapon and looked to Sam. They would need to get out of there, and soon. The ringing was like a beacon for the creatures.

Following Jenny up the stairs to the roof, she latched the entrance back before heading over to the edge of the building. She only repeated what she had done the first time and then moved the garage over yet again. She was really getting sick of messing around with trash. A nice, hot shower sounded wonderful to her.

At the mention of her father, Sammie stopped walking and looked at the girl. “We own a pawn shop. Plus, he’s an avid collector
” She shrugged her shoulders. No, her father didn’t know about these creatures, but she was sure that he could fight them off well enough on his own. “Now of us know much about them. Just don’t get bit,” she stated lowly. “Or you have to die.” She shook her head to get herself out of her morbid thoughts before she continued walking down the street.

“I’ve noticed that they seem to die from shots to the head. “I played around a little bit at the beginning before I decided it was best to go back to the shop.” She shrugged her shoulders, but it was the question about dying that got her to really start thinking.

“Maybe. I don’t know. I’ll never really thought about it.” She replied. Her mother was dead. Her father could be dead, but if she was still alive he had to be too, right? But then why hadn’t he made it back to the shop? She had wanted to see her mother again, but she also didn’t want to die before she’d lived her life first. “You got to live first.” She muttered before she turned to the sound of the phone.

Her eyes narrowed and she looked around. Jenny was right. The noise would attract the creatures. There were thousands of possibilities for the phone going off, but she hoped it could mean a way out. She was banking on the sewer system, but she didn’t tell anyone else that plan. “Think we should answer it?”

Jenny walked over to the phone and picked it up, "There are thirteen numbers on its display, do they mean anything to you?" She held to phone out to Sammie, unaware of if this was some sort of trap or simply one of those random chance things that occurs. "I think you should be the one to answer this." She hadn't used one of these devices before.

Jenny kept her eyes scanning around, at entrances to the area and at the roof tops, so as to avoid ambush by both creatures and humans.

Samantha just looked at the phone, the numbers and then back to Jenny, all before shrugging to herself. She knew this could be a very bad idea indeed. Going against her better judgment, she answered the phone. She kept it away from her head at first just in case of some trap and then slowly moved it over to her ear.

“Hello?” She whispered almost afraid of really speaking now. The creatures would be coming soon if they had heard the phone going off, and they needed to get to higher ground. Though she was surprised, she had thought the cell phone towers were out. She had guessed it was why none of her family had been calling even though she had forgotten her phone at the house. It still bothered her. Something didn’t sit right with the girl and she was afraid to hear what the voice on the other end had to say.

"Hello, Samantha Kendal, I'm Wilfred Danners, a scientist from Umbrella Corp, I need you and your new friend Jennifer Wiendel to do me a very important favor, !" the crisp harsh voice spoke swiftly. "A favor?" she replied. "Yes, you are in Center City Near The Pearson Clock tower correct?" his speech was rather creruel and manipulating.
