Aaliyah was born in the summer of 1995 on the last day of July. Adding a new addition to the household of four that was her parents, brother and grandmother. Her father works in market managing at a top firm and her mother back then was a simple housewife. What lead up to the divorce of her parents is something to this day that Aaliyah can not understand or explain. All she can say for sure was when she was born they were happy, in love and together and some time down the road that changed and sometime after her ninth birthday her parents announced they were separating. About a month before her tenth birthday the divorce was finalized and her father and big brother Andrew moved to New York living her, her mother and grandmother in Canada.
Home Life ~ Nowadays
Since the divorce her father and brother still live in New York and in the time that passed they have doubled their family out in the Big Apple. About three years ago Aaliyah's father remarried and around a year ago her new step mommy gave birth to a little boy named Toby. Aaliyah doesn't exactly know how she yet feels about her extended family but since her father's marriage she hasn't since him once in person. When she was younger during the long breaks she would either fly out to New York to stay with her brother and father or her brother would come stay at her place with their mother and grandma. When summer break came around they'd spend one half of the summer with mom and the other half with dad before splitting up again before school started. In the past couple of years her Andrew has been the only one catching flights as Aaliyah doesn't feel comfortable staying with her father anymore at this point. This is caused a strain in their relationship that Aaliyah is not yet willing to fix.
Unlike her father who has managed to settle down her mother has been more busy enjoying the life of a single women then thinking about finding a new husband. In the time since her father's marriage Aaliyah's mom has had a countless amount of "new boyfriends" all well above her in age. Taken to the life of a "sugar baby" her mom basically goes out with old men in order to get the things that she wants. Aaliyah can't lie in the beginning she actually okay with what her mother was doing as she figured it was just her way of dealing with things but as of recently she isn't exactly sure what she thinks of her mother.

School Life ~ Freshman and Sophomore Year
Freshman year for Aaliyah was oddly enough a really great year. She entered Degrassi with her pre-school bestie Elena and they planned to rule Degrassi together. Of course them being only a couple of freshman that didn't really happen but in some ways for them it did. By the end of grade nine might not have been queen bees but they were popular. Which for just a couple of niners was quite the accomplishment. There entry into the world of the popular kids happened when they joined the cheerleading squad. Although grade nines getting on the squad was said to be that of the impossible due to Elena's determination and Aaliyah grade A tumbling skills they actually made it happen. Being a cheerleader and on top of that ninth grade cheerleaders they were swept into the popular scene. Of course still being only freshman they went through some hazing here and there but that only came from the other cheerleaders and it was expected. Elena and Aaliyah had each other and they weathered the storm together.
As tenth grade came around things began to change for both girls in the means of a new year and some new body changes as well as a hormone boost. During this stage of their lives both girls became more boy crazy than usual and that craziness would end up being what destroyed their friendship. Like all girls they developed crushes and the one time they ended up crushing on the same guy the claws came out. In the end of their battle however Aaliyah had gotten the guy and Elena wasn't happy about it. She started some many rumors about Aaliyah that the two ended up having a full blown brawl in the halls on the last day of the fall semester. When the spring semester started back up things had change and changed for good. Elena turned the panthers against her and managed to steal her boyfriend in the process. The two girls were basically at a war for that final semester of school always firing and returning fire. The majority of the rest of that year was pretty hell with few good times in between. That is until the final weeks of school when Aaliyah finally put an end to the battles but winning the war. She got her once boyfriend kicked off of all his sports teams and expelled from school by planting steroids in his locker and bag. She replaced Elena's new besties shampoo with nair and the girl ended the school year with a baldy like Michael Jordan's. As for Elena she got her parents to send her away to reform school after expressing her worry for her "friend's" wellbeing as she felt Elena was involved in some risky behavior that could end badly for her. As summer came around Aaliyah left the popular scene alone and just did her best to stay away from the drama.
