Name: Bardin (meaning "Ironbark Tree")
Age 40
House: Trehern (meaning "Strength of Iron")
Position(s): Head of House Trehern, Lord of the Iron Islands
Status: Married (to Amata - see "House Information")
Affiliation:: True loyalty is with his own House and the Iron Islands, but like the Kingdoms that had fallen at Godwin's hands, or rather the Kingslayer's hands, the Iron Islands continue their service, yet the question is..for how long?

Image

Appearance: Bardin towers at a height of around 6'2. Despite his age, he has a strong build and muscular body, due to his continued exercise and training that he has been committed to over the years. His dark blue eyes are sharp, in which looking into them, is like looking into a portal, curious about where it ends, while his figure himself is also sharp and strong, much like his personality. Though he may be older than he used to be, as does everyone as years go past, he still looks young and fresh, and still can cast a charm now and then. He's certainly not lost his touch.

As far as his attire goes, it ranges, when he travels, he wears a blue silk cloak with a teal cloak fastened by a golden pin, but regardless what occassion, he always ensures he has some sort of protection underneath. Iron, for the Ironborn. Always ensuring he is prepared, though when prepared for a fight, he wears his iron mithril armor and carries his longsword with the symbol of House Trehern encrafted on it. Upon his back is his bow, and concealed within his robes, is his dagger. He was certainly one who was always equipped.

Image

Personality: Bardin is for one, head strong and brave. The Iron Islands weren't renown as the Iron Islands for nothing, and if there was one similarity between the Iron and the Ironborn produced on the Iron Islands, it was their strength. Many born on the Iron Islands were pretty muscular, and they had to be, with the work needed to do in the Iron Mines, and then forging new weapons, but it weren't only their work they took pride in, but their abilities theirselves, and their beliefs. You can never sway an Ironborn from its path, like you cannot bend iron. You can cut it, but the Ironborn can put it back together again.

Being Head of the Clan, Bardin is an example, not only to his family, but also his people, aswell as keeping up the legacy of his father. No job was too big for the Ironborn, and many people respected them, while at the same time, they were simply looked at as slaves, seeing as they were separate from the mainland and weren't part of the Holy Kingdom, yet one-by-one, the "Holy" Kingdoms fell, and there was no way that the Ironborn under Bardin's leadership, would be looked down upon again.

Sneaky, cruel, brave, smart, cunning, sleek, mischievous, all could describe Bardin of the Iron Islands, but he hasn't had the chance to show what he has been training for, what all the Ironborn have been waiting for, and now the time was coming nearer and nearer. The hood hanging over their isles would be uncovered, and it would be time for the Ironborn to rise again.

History: Bardin, was the son of Rodrik Trehern, who was the son of Cardon Trehern, a man known to be quite boastful yet he did have something what many call "The Iron Eye" and it is believed that he saw what was to be through this "Iron Eye", but many, including the Ironborn, thought it was to do with his boastful and arrogant personality, but upon his dieing day, he not only sent for his son, Rodrick, but also his eldest son, Bardin, to his bedside, where he told them, that he has lived numerous years, and spent those time working, but Rodrick cut him off and he'd always remember how the dying man grabbed the scruff of his fathers' neck and pulled him close. The words have never been forgotten.

"You are of the Iron Islands. You are Ironborn. There will come a time, when you must raise an Iron fist. A time when we must not hold back, but stand our ground, for it is us that the mainland depends on, not their Gods. Who plows the fields? Who works the mines? Who works in the burning heat? Who? is Ironborn!"

The words continued to keep in his mind as he grew up, even how young Bardin was, it was the day when his grandfathers' strength filled his lungs, the strength he was unable to wield and use himself, as his last dying words was "never hold back", and ever since, the House of Trehern had changed with his father, but only by the new motto. Everything else continued as normal.

When his father passed, Bardin took the ropes and begun to put into operation the words of his grandfather, who would always be remembered as "Iron Eye", and begun building up the Iron Islands while still producing for the mainland to the needs of the "Holy Kingdoms" and just as predicted, the "Holy Kingdoms" fell, but still depending on the Iron Islands but not the gods, as Cardon Trehern had said.

Bardin was not alone in his task however, seeing as he had the aid of his brother Temur, and not to mention his wife, Amata. Bardin couldn't help being a strict man when he needed to be, but he had no wish for his children to slack as his father did, reminding each of them that they are Ironborn. With the window of opportunity knocking and the tides waiting to roar, Bardin now prepared to make his bid for the land, now that Godwin in all his might had taken the land.

Though he wasn't yet an established Kingdom to be a threat to Godwin, he sure was amassing what strength he had to show them. Afterall, the skill of the Iron Islands' navy was hard to beat, and though those of the mainland use Iron, none can truly master the use of Iron without making it and knowing how it works.

Question was, how would House Trehern and the Iron Islands (including the west coastine since they practically owed that with their patrols), fare against the Godwin Army, or will they shake hands with Godwin and rid those who wish to stir up trouble. Who knows....

Want to play as a member of House Trehern of the Iron Islands? If you wish to play a member of House Trehern, I have them all listed below aswell as their names. Ages are at your discretion, though would say the eldest ones are round late twenties, the piggies in the middle would be round mid-twenties and youngest ones can range from teen to early-twenties. There is also Guardsmen avaliable. The above for family members are suggested Face Claims though you are limited to just them. If you wish to play one, or want more information, let me know. Again, suggestive Face Claims for Guards, though not restricted to, Hugh Dancy and Ioan Gruffudd. House name is your choice, unless they are used as an NPC in one of my posts, in which case, this will be updated.

The Iron Islands.

In all of Westeros, there were nine regions; the North, the Vale, the Riverlands, the Westerlands, the Crownlands, the Reach, the Stormlands, Dorne and the Iron Islands. The Holy Capital of Kingslanding saw peace throughout the land, each maintained by the Holy Kingdoms that surrounded the Holy Capital, but now, such peace seemed to be at an end when one of the Holy Kingdoms struck out and took the Holy Capital and ending his competition one-by-one. That man, was Charles Godwin, Lord of Casterly Rock, now Ruler over all Westeros.

The lands of the North, the lands of southern Dorne, and the great Iron Islands, were never referred to as great. The North was too cold, Dorne too hilly, and the Iron Islands too stormy, but now it seemed that these forsaken and underestimated lands would be the saviours of all Westeros, whether that would be to side with the new ruler or not. One could not quite tell, especially what was going on in the mind of Bardin Trehern, Lord of the Iron Islands.

Off the west coast of Westeros, in the Ironman's Bay, laid seven islands, and within each, laid men and steel alike, both hard as iron. The Iron Islands were not only known for their name-sake, and the production of their iron from their mines, but also for their fleet, and the ironborn. Most recently, the Iron Islands has been having quite an intake of visitors, and as a result, it was time for the wheel to start turning.

Bardin stood tall outside of the castle at Pyke, awaiting his "guests" who would help put his plan into place. He didn't know whose hands to place the fate of his house in, other than his own, so since Godwin took control, he had simply been biding his time, hiring mercenaries, building more ships to fill Red Harbor, and not to mention all the training of his men once work duties were over.

Inside waiting for him, was his beautiful wife, Amata, who wore half dress, half armor, always being prepared for what may come, while beside her, was his two daughters; Farra and Fayre. Farra was more of the tomboy type, wishing to get into the fighting, while Fayre remained with her mother, and doing some reading. His sons; Eison and Eisen, were beside their father as they waited for them to come.

"Father. I believe our guests are coming at a snail pace. Allow me to move them along", enquired Eisen, his youngest. Bardin smiled, "They will be here. If...they know what is good for them. We have waited for this day to come for quite a few years now, what's to wait a little bit more", was his response, which no doubt was not the answer Eisen hoped to hear, seeing that he was not the patient sort.

While Bardin's family dwelt on Pyke, his brothers' family were on Harlaw, the island north of Pyke with a formidable castle. Temur and Bardin were close as any siblings were, but with war imminent, Bardin had his preparations to make, and while he carried out his plans, Temur was to be ready also. Then, ask if on crew, a strange group of people came towards them *obviously drunk*.

The lead of the group, stepped forward and bowed as he took off his hat, "Captain Roche Bower....at your service", lifting himself up, as his shiny silver tooth winked at Bardin. Glancing to those round him with his eyes while his teeth remained glued together to look respectable, he then spoke up again, "Nevermind these lot...these are just along for the ride....Now, shall we get down to business?".

The "guests" sure were strange and odd, but like the Ironborn, they were quite formidable in the sea. Afterall, they had to be, if they were pirates, as Bardin stretched out his hand, to lead them to the hall, before Eison spoke up to his father, "We don't need their help. They're obviously drunk, and we sure could do alot without them emptying our coffers".

Bardin smiled, "Would you rather be a proud Ironborn and be respected as one, while retaining your physique? or would you prefer grovelling, and doing all the dirty work that is best done by others?", pausing to get a react, before speaking up again as each hand laid on each of his sons' shoulders, "You have learnt alot in these past few years, with alot more to learn. The time is almost upon us, the wheels are slowly turning, but for now, we must be patient. Now, let's go", as the three entered...........

Iron Islands.

For many years, centuries, House Trehern have been the guardians of such islands. It was their dedication, their hard work, their commitment, their strength, that has brought the Iron Islands where they are today. Except for actually placing them there, but those of the Iron Islands do believe in the Drowned God, where those who are not saw as worthy sink and fall to the bottom of the ocean. Those who fight valiantly on the sea before going down, are side to be the Drowned God's most valuable subjects and time to meet their maker, and so far, the Iron Islands and the Iron Fleet have held strong, with the Iron Fleet being the strongest fleet out of all Westeros, even Essos aswell, seeing as they were full of barbarians and those negotiating and trading. Now that, was a poor trade, but it certainly was not on the Iron Islands.

Cardon Trehern, the "Iron Eye", was thought to be crazy, and as a result, his son (Bardin's father) Rodrik Trehern allowed his fathers' words to enter one ear then immediately exit out of the other. Cardon saw that for many years, Westeros had become dependant on the Iron Islands for their resources. Instead of mining, they purchased from them while they focused on profit, causing Houses to become richer, and for some houses in particular, getting rich wasn't enough, so the lust for power settled in, the power that Godwin now held. Cardon said, that there would come a time that those in Westeros would rely on the Iron Islands even moreso then now, and now that day that he envisoned had come to past, as many fled from Godwin's might towards Winterfell or remained in hiding and sought help later. It was important to know what was going on, in order for his trade to do well.

Now the meeting that would be remembered in history was now held, as Bardin, with his two sons either side of him, walked into the main chamber. There was a table was positioned in the middle, where the barbaric pirates all took a sit to take some grub, only for one of their maids to give them the "iron whack" from their iron spatulas, to ensure everyone did as they were told until Bardin gave them all permission. Bardin took his seat next to his beautiful wife Amata, while his sons sat inbetween the pirates and their sisters' for obvious reasons. Pirates were said to not be trusted, but in dangerous and uncertain times like these, one could never be so sure of what their intentions were anymore.

"I thank you all for coming", Bardin began as he then looked around the table, "Not only do I thank you for coming, but that you have agreed to aid us in the great task before us. The Holy Kingdoms have fallen, and now those trapped under Godwin's rule, now look beyond the former Holy Kingdoms to look for reassurance. We shall be that reassurance. We are ironborn. We take what is ours, and will not relent. The words of our House, is to never hold back. That, we shall do, and with the help of Captain Roche's pirates, I believe both sides will benefit from our campaigns", finishing his speech, before looking to his wife.

Amata caught Bardin's glance, before smiling, "We welcome you to Pyke Captain Roche, and hope you enjoy the banquet we have before us. Now, I believe we have alot ahead of us. Both of us have something to gain, and if we do nothing, we both have something to lose. Now, shall we join hands?", she asked with "hands" simply being a figurative expression.

For Roche, the whole place was large and big. An island was indeed small, but it sure had some grandness to it compared to some places he and his crew had saw on the mainland. His focus however was divided between the delicious food before him, while his other half was listening to Bardin and then his wife. The wife's voice being more alluring and more attentive to listen to. Afterall, women sure do sound better, but then he got woke up from Finn as he moved his arm, "Roche, time to speak". Roche looked round and licked his lips, "Time to eat? Mmmmm". "Can't eat till you speak, or one of these ladies will whack you again", before one of the other crew reached out for some food before being whacked, "Don't ya just love women playing hard to get".

Eison then sighed, "You can have unlimited choices to take what women you will once we begin. The Ironborn take what we want, as do you pirates. Now however, you are in our territory, and therefore abide by our rules. So do you wish to join us, or not?". He couldn't help being impatient. Eison liked to get things done, to do things himself and if he couldn't, he'd make sure whoever was doing it got things done.

It was then that Roche then was alert. Well, as best as he could be. "You can be sure....that the Blazing Phoenix...shall do our part...providing we have plenty of grub...and rum".

[b]"We give you the opportunity to work with us, and here you are telling us how to provide you, when we are giving you places to raid, to do with what you please. It should be a honor to you to serve House Trehern and be part of my fathers' plans. You could at least acknowledge that!"
, exclaimed Farra who tends to not keep her cool very well when her House or her abilities are not respected as they should. She definitely had some skill, and was as much as a fighter as her brothers, whereas Fayre followed in the footsteps of her mother. So in an attempt to prevent her sister from getting into trouble, Fayre then spoke up, "What my sister means to say, is that we are pleased to welcome the Blazing Phoenix among our fleet, and that together, we can achieve great things. As the saying goes, the world is our oyster, and maybe the Drowned God guide us safely along these strong tides", catching a glance from her mother.

Bardin remained silent as he watched each of them converse and say what was on their minds, before deciding to open the banquet to settle them all, "I am glad to have you assistance Captain. Now, let us enjoy this feast shall we?", as he waved his hands for the maids to leave, before watching the pirates dig in vigourously, "There is alot more where all that came from. Though we will need to move soon", before Eisen continued, "Any ideas where we will target first Father?". Bardin smiled. He admired how devoted Eisen was and how he wished to show what he could do. Where Eison would like to charge in and show his strength, Eisen prefers to plan it out and get it done quickly. "We eat first, then rest, then plan, and then, we move", was Bardin's final word before tucking into the feast.....
