Introduction
This is based in the U.S. and there are hundreds of camps scattered around the country. The role play starts in the central regions of the U.S. in the wooded territory either in a camp or as a wanderer in the woods. Buildings from before Z Day now crumble or are succumbed to the earth.
The Forest:
They are large and are scattered all over the U.S. They can be as small as a town and as large as a dozen cities. The forests contain zombies that have been pushed their during AZ1. They have formed into hoards. The forests are filled with villages, nomads, cults, and zombies. It might be the most dangerous place to be. The only way you could survive out in those woods is if you learn to live off the land and protect yourself from zombies... if you don't know either? Well... your as good as dead.
The Dark City:
It is on a land once called New York City, and many people have come to stay here at the thought of protection promised to them by the Protectorate and enforced by the Recruiters. The recruiters are the protectorates own little army, but they have become corrupt. They are rebelling against the Protectorate and are hungry for power. If they do succeed with their rebellion, it's every man for himself. The wall will eventually crumble and the rules that have kept the Dark City from crumbling will fail. Make shift bridges connect the buildings together in the Dark City as the streets become more dangerous to travel on. The subways are heard to be filled will the dead and are even more unsafe to travel. Now as hoards form of the un dead in the forests and make there way across the country in search of food, no place will seem safe. The walls and fences that protect villagers and the city won't crumble to a few zombies, but they are as flimsy as paper up against millions.
((sorry if this overview sucks, was having trouble writing it, but if you read the Forest of Hands and teeth you might get the picture))
Zombies:
1. They can run if they were freshly turned, but as the years pass and their bodies begin to deteriorate and decay they grow slower.
2. They can only be killed by destroying the brain or when their brains are fully destroyed by deterioration.
3. A zombie bite, infected zombie scratch, or the virus entering the bloodstream can turn you into a zombie.
4. They are run by instinct and won't hesitate to kill you. Nothing of who they used to be is left.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
"Sky!" a voice hissed from behind her. One of the older priestesses was scuttling towards her, robe gripped in hand. Sky could see her knobby ankles. She didn't say a word as the older woman gripped her arm and ripped her away from the fence as the undead man threw his body against it. The fence shuddered with his weight but didn't give out. Sky stumbled all the way back to town square. The priestess shoved her in an awaiting crowd that stood around the couple getting married. She hissed in her ear: "If I see you close to those gates one more time you will be punished. Sky winced a bit but kept silent. The woman huffed her way back to the church and Sky rubbed her arm as the ceremony began. She could still hear the faint moans, almost as loud as the crickets that chirped in the woods.
Elliot's eyes traveled along the gate, stopping as he saw a female figure standing oddly close to the gate. She ran a hand through her hair, Elliot starred hard at her as if he was trying to read her mind. He could tell by her posture, a way he stood many times before when he was thinking, that she was probably thinking the same thoughts as himfreedom.
"Keep up boy." The cold and harsh voice of his father broke him from his thoughts. He shuffled to catch up to his parents.
Elliot ran a hand through his red tangled hair only ending him up with his hand stuck in the jungle he called his hair. Elliot let out a bored sigh, he hated weddings. Not only because they were boring, but also because they reminded him of his mother, that he had killed. He shook the thought out of his head and looked over his shoulder a blank expression on his face. He squinted seeing the same girl he had seen at the gate he leaned slightly over his dads shoulder to get a better look at her."Pay attention boy." His father hissed at him elbowing him in the stomach. Elliot clutched his stomach use to the pain of his fathers hands. He casted his father a hateful glare that his father didnt see, then turned his attention back to the wedding.
"Excuse me." she said and looked up. It was the boy with the wild hair she'd seen watching her at the gate and at the ceremony. She looked away and ducked her head.
"Excuse me." she repeated and stepped around him. His eyes seemed so familiar and she couldn't tell why. She'd seen him a lot around the camp. Actually she's seen a lot of people. It was easy to know everyone in a camp this small. Especially since she's grown up with these people. She hadn't talked to him much, actually she hadn't really talked to anyone. Sky sensed he didn't talk to anyone either.
By the time she reached the cabin the sun was gone and the air was a little chilly. Once inside her cabin she sat in front of the small, soot covered, fire place. Her mother was sitting on the one of the two wooden chairs. Her eyes were fixed on the fire and Sky new she was deep in thought. Looking down at her hands she fiddled with her locket. Then it hit her where she'd seen Elliot's, as she recalled, eyes before. They were of her own. They had the same distant look. As if our thoughts weren't here but of beyond the gates, Maybe even beyond the forest.
A scream rang out nearby that jostled Sky out of her thoughts. A gunshot followed that sent Sky's mother scurrying towards the door. She looked out and Sky came to stand behind her, peeking around her where people were running towards the noise. Sky's heart began to thump as she realized the sound of the undeads' moans were closer and louder. "The walls have been breached!" a man screamed and more gunshots fired.
"Stay inside Sky." her mother hissed at her and then grabbed a gun and left into the darkness. Sky stood in the doorway looking back and forth into the darkness. She knew the town was ready for this, but she didn't know it would be this soon. Was it her fault? Was it because she'd gone so close to the gate? She shook her head and tried to erase the thought. She watched as men with wood began to run to the gates. The sisterhood planned on trying to contain a breach. They had an idea of filling the gap where the undead were getting in with wood. Sky didn't know how they would do that without getting touched by the dead.
She fished around in her ratty jeans for the knife her dad had given her and found it. She gripped the engraved handle and pulled it out. Wings were engraved in the wooden handle and she held it close to her heart. Ignoring her mothers words she set out into the night. She felt useless hiding out in the cabin and wanted to help. Her heart thudded louder with fear as she grew closer to the commotion.
Elliot was more the kind of guy who kept to himself, only speaking when he saw needed otherwise it was a waist of breath.
Elliot stumbled backwards slightly as someone bumped into him, he glared at the stranger before realizing it was the girl from before.
He let his eyes soften and watched her intently before she excused herself and disappeared. He shrugged and ran to catch up with his parents.
Elliot sat silently at the kitchen table playing with his fingers. His step mother smiled kindly at him, but had the same distant look in her eye she always did...since the incident.
"Are you hungry Elliot?" His step mother Rosely asked turning back around to their small stove.
"Ye--." He was cut off by the sound of gun shots and then his father bursting into the room.
"Rosely, the wall has fallen go hide." His father said, ignoring Elliot and the picking up a gun in the corner of the kitchen and running out the house.
Rosely looked around widely, then straight at Elliot.
Elliot jumped up "Dont worry everything will be fine, hide. I'll go help."
With that Elliot scurried out the house, he looked around frantically hearing the moans. He grabbed an axe that was lying up against the house.
Elliot began to run not knowing what to do or where to go. As he ran he ran into something fear filled his stomach what if he ran into one of those things. He grabbed his axe bringing it over his shoulder and looking down at the thing that had fallen to the groun when they collided.
Elliot sighed with relief starring down at the girl from the gate, the me who bumped into him before. He reached his hand out towards her "sorry." He mumbled then looked around.
OOC: Sorry for the short reply. In class.
He had come out here to help, defend his home but all he could think about now was living. Never had he been so sacred in his life.
The girl grabbed onto him pulling him away from the creature probably saving his life. He followed quietly behind her as the undead invaded the camp taking over.
Elliot pulled the girl to a stop in front of him as he saw two of the undead creatures eating something, as he squinted his eyes he could make make out a man with his stomach ripped open.
Elliot held his mouth closed trying not to vomit, luckily the things hadn't noticed them yet to involved in eating.
Elliot quickly placed a hand over the girls mouth so she wouldn't scream. He didnt know if it was the right thing to do, but he didnt know this girl very well, if she was easily frightened or not.
As Elliot heard more screams and deadly moans from the creatures he pulled the girl closer to him not really thinking, he didnt know why, but he suddenly felt the urge to protect her.
As one of the undead creatures limped towards them Elliot quickly searched for an escape, finding an easy way into the woods without being attacked. He pulled the girl after him as they escaped into the woods.
She blinked, but didn't move away. Even with fear and dread coursing through her veins a small blush still seemed to find itself burning her cheeks. A figure moved out of the corner of her eye and she saw the dead woman limping towards them. Once again they were racing on as Elliot tugged her towards the woods. Her eyes grew wide as he pulled her past the feces and into the foliage.
"We can't leave the gates!" she whimpered looking back at the town. "They'll come and eat us." Her stomach did a little flip as they ran farther into the woods. She looked back at Elliot as she stumbled over logs. His wild hair collecting leaves and twigs as they ducked under trees. With one last glance behind her she watched the church catch fire. A lump rose in her throat at the thought that she might never see her home again or her mother.
She checked to see there wasn't any others around that could get her from behind and turned around - waiting for a good time.
"Ready or not," She whispered to herself "Here I come."
She jumped out from behind the tree, catching the blood streaked monster off guard and ran at it, hitting the 'thing' in the shins with her baseball bat.
The zombie falls to the ground, splattering someone else's blood on the ground as it went.
Q took the zombie's surprise as leverage and smashed it in the face with her baseball bat, but the thing was rapidly thinking.
when she went to take her second blow the abnormally smart zombie rolled and Q smashed the bat into the ground.
"Dammit!" She hissed and tossed her now loose - having fallen out of her dodge ponytail - hair over her shoulder.
The zombie took a lunge at her and only narrowly missed, falling on it's face. Q dropped the large bat she held and climbed onto the back of the now, even more bloody zombie.
cracking its face into the ground, repeatedly she soon decided it was dead and smile slightly to herself, getting up.
Q sighs and wipes her brow where an old, small gash had been re-opened.
"Ah." She winced and walked to where a dried up bush stood.
He couldn't shake the feeling that he had just insured his step mothers death.
He looked over to the girl at his right, but quickly looked away un able to meet her eye's. not Bly had he run away like a coward he had also dragged this girl along with him.
He quickly let go of the girl trying to make as much possible space as he could between them.
He stopped hearing a quiet female sounding voice. "Ready or not,her i come."
Elliot poked his head out of the group of bushes he was in. He watched as a girl beat the living, or should I say unliving crap out of the undead creature.
He quickly stepped back seeing the girl walk over to him as she finished defeating the creature. Elliot's eye's searched widely around he had to hide them. He quickly pushed the girl up into a nearby tree and then climbed up himself.
"What is it?" and when he turned and quickly shoved her towards the tree she whispered, "is it the dead?!" She scrabbled up the tree, cutting her hands on the rough bark, and Elliot followed. She scuntched herself as far back as she could on the branch and held on tight. The tree was quite tall but she didn't know if the undead could climb or not. Looking through the brown leaves she saw another person. She made out a woman's figure and bit her lip. She gripped Elliot's shirt. What if she was one of the stronger dead? Or what if she was alive?
'Is no-one alive?' she thinks.
Q shakes her head and starts looking around for water, or any liquid.
She spots a tiny puddle and walks over, crouching down she scoops some up and rubs it over her wound, wincing.
"Ah, crap." She whispers but doesn't stop.
She then washes her hands and stands up, ripping off her sleeve she ties the filthy cloth around her head to catch the blood and stands up again.
She hears a noise and her head turns to a tall tree.
Q walks over to it, breathing heavily.
Was it another creature?
Elliot's hand searched widely for the axe he had been carrying his fingers brushed it before it fell from the tree with a clatter.
Elliot winced and looked over at the girl next to him. Great again I've messed up, Elliot thought. He slowly nodded to the girl and put a hand up in a stop like manner. If the girl below them was a threat, at least he could save one person for once.
Elliot jumped down from the tree and put his hands up and turned around to indicate he had no other weapons. He didnt want to startle the girl or make her think he was a threat. Elliots eye's met with the girl's. If this did go wrong at least the other girl would be safe.
"Is there anybody out here?" He yells
His voice echos through the woods as there is no reply. He comes to a stand and holds his sword so that the blade shines in the sunlight. The leaves rustle again causing Robert to look around hesitantly. Right as he turns around he sees the culprit limping towards him.
"I just cant get away from you can I?" Robert asks before thrusting his sword through the sternum of the living dead.
The former human screeches in what seems like pain as Robert pulls out the sword. He swings the katana again going through the spine of the creature. The head thumps to the ground and rolls into the small stream
"So much for a water break," Robert says with a sigh "But you know, Im not thirsty or anything"
Robert sheathes his sword before sitting back down on the rock listening carefully to his surroundings.
"Don't touch that or I'll kill you." she said with a stern voice. The wound on her head stung but not as much as the one on her arm. She didn't want to think about that wound and shook her head a bit.
"Anyone else with you?" she asked and looked up at the tree, but the darkness of the night and the leaves hid anyone if there was someone. She looked over the trees and saw the light of flames, and then looked back at the boy.
"What's that?"
((OOC: @BraceBlaze: How's that?
@ProjectxCrusade: We'll have our characters stumble on you soon. So don't run off ok? XD Sorry for the hold up. ))
"No one's with me." Elliot mumbled unable to keep his eyes from quickly darting to the axe.
"What's that?" The girl in front of him asked, looking over her shoulder at the ever growing flames of their village.
Elliot clenched his jaw as not to hurl on the spot thinking of his now probably sweet and caring dead Step-mother.
"It's nothing! Just a little house fire.." Elliot shouted his first words then slowly becoming quiet and trailing his words off at the end of his sentence. He knew he sounded supsious, but he wasent ready to talk about the 'incident' yet. He just couldn't forgive himself for not being able to protect someone again.
"It's nothing..,what are you doing out here anyway? Fighting those creatures like there harmless." Elliot looked at her eyeing her, trying to decide if she was a threat.
(OOC:yeah it's perfect)
"I've been out here for a while." she answered with a flick of her hand, she wouldn't answer anything more about where she'd been.
"You're coming with me." she finally decided. She wasn't a very caring person, but that didn't mean she would just leave this person out here, who seemed more scared of the dark than what lie ahead. That's when her mind finally picked up all the pieces. She'd seen fires like these. Where gated villages would become overrun and people would try burning the entrance of the hole so they could save the community, but it always ended badly. All the houses were made of dry wood and everyone ended up dead.
She looked back at the boy and could see his eyes dart around. This was his first time out in the forest. She felt slightly sorry for him. He wasn't ready to face this world yet. He would die immediately.
Q's eyes darted up at the sound of a small voice as a body scrabbled down the tree and landed with a thud.
"Don't kill him!" the voice said. The girl crawled out from under the bushes and stood up, brushing her bloodied hands on her shirt. She looked around the same age as the boy and she also had the same fear in her eyes.
Q grimaced. She now had to look after two people. She wasn't one to baby sit but she wasn't a killer. Q sighed annoyed and rubbed her temples.
"Grab your weapon," she said to the boy, "I'm not going to kill him, but you two will die out here in less than two hours."
She looked at Q's retreating body as she walked deeper into the woods and away from the burning sky. Then Sky looked back at Elliot. He looked conflicted with something and SKy smiled a bit to help reassure him that things would be ok. However even Sky wasn't sure of that herself. She wouldn't let herself think about all the people in her village as she grabbed his hand and tugged him along after the girl.
Moans swam through the trees.
Kale was running into quite a few zombies as he went along. He would have made his family proud had he ventured this far to expand their safety. Each zombie he saw he dispatched it. He had many times had dreams of a place of true glory surrounded by hordes of zombies and dying with honor taking as many as possible with him. He opened eyes finding yet another one. He pulled out a bow and shot it but sadly it only struck its neck. Kale knew his best distance was at 30 feet. that thing had been at least 50 feet away. He knew luck played a part in hitting that thing so close to the head, but he would never admit it.
He kept it simple and lopped the creatures extended arm first and tripped it. He then placed his foot on the back and cleaved the head from the body. He looked at and then pulled out his hunting knife and stabbed it through the right eye. He let a deep breath and stopped as he heard the sound of water. He use to being thirsty but if water was there then so might be some animal stopping to get a drink.
Kale moved slowly as he got closer to the water incase there might be animals already there. He pulled out his bow and notched an arrow as he slowed down even more letting the sound of the water fill his ears. He was thirsty but he would endure for the possible chance of food.

Elliot stood there confused should they trust her, or take their chances. He looked up startled to see them already beginning to walking. He jogged to catch up and took the ax out of his friends hands...he really needed to learn her name.
What if this girl, that they knew absolutely nothing about was leading them into a trap? He had to protect his friend. He swore it, he would die before she did, hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
Elliot jumped a little at the sudden touch of skin. He looked up to see his friend smiling at him. Elliot gave her a half smile back, allowing the softness of her skin to slightly calm his worries.
"So why are you helping us?" Elliot asked unable to just take this help as simple kindness. He looked around at the shadowy trees that surrounded them. "And where are we going?" Elliot pulled his friend slightly closer to him.
(OOC: sorry I didn't post, I kept meaning to)
Sky followed behind the woman with Elliot to her side.
"So why are you helping us?" Elliot asked. "And where are we going?"
He pulled her closer to him and she realized he didn't trust this woman yet even though she was helping them. Sky thought about it and also realized too that maybe she should trust this women so soon either.
The women didn't answer first and then turned around to face them.
"My name's Q, and that's all you need to know right now." she said with a stern look. She acted much older for her age. Q looked only maybe a few years older than Sky and Elliot.
Q glared around in the woods and put her finger to her lips. She crept towards a line of trees and Sky could hear the faint sounds of running water.
Fear began to creep up Sky's spine and she gripped her knife close to her. Looking over Q's shoulder she sighed as she realized it was just another man. His head shot up and he pulled out his bow and pointed it towards where they stood.
'Not zombies,' he assessed by how clingy they seemed. He lifted a finger to his lips telling them to be silent as he turned the arrow away from them moving carefully to the river. His eyes kept checking on them to see if they tried anything. Three to one was not a great number but two were just kids. Kale eyed the female leading them. She looked fairly competent.
Kale made his way around listening as he moved closer. The river was getting in the way. He looked back one more time before disappearing behind some rocks and continued sneaking. He thought he heard something but knew if he slowed down nothing would happen. He pushed on and just as he found the last rock that would expose the river, he took a breath and slid out with his bow drawn.
(OOC not sure if Robert's creator is still playing or not. I can change it to zombies eating his body if he isn't.)
He stared at the man before feeling off, but knowing that he shouldn't point the arrow anywhere but the man's throat.
Kale wasn't sure what the group of three were doing but if they showed up it could surprise this other man and he could use that opportunity to ....
"Who are you," Kale asked not letting his aim waver.

He stood there his eyes wide, before reaching his hand towards his axe. A bit to late of a reaction. Elliot realized. They could have been killed by now. If he was going to keep them alive he would need to be more on guard.
Elliot watched as the stranger slipped behind some rocks.
"Q..." Elliot said her 'name' quietly. Her name Sounded foreign coming out of his mouth.
"Should we really wait for him to come back? We have no idea what he's doing now. He could be loading a gun." Elliot sad quickly hoping she would understand his point.
Elliot was not much if a talker, but it seemed today as if he was talking a lot. He looked over at his friend a little embarrassed to ask her name but he needed to know. He shook his head realizing this was not the time or place.
