S p e c i e s ? Caltarion--The Caltarion people come from a planet a good distance away from Earth called Caltar. It is quite similar to Earth in its size and distance from its own sun, as well as the build of the atmosphere. However, there are many geographical and cultural distances between the two planets and civilizations, the latter of which may be detected simply by watching Del interact with Earthlings. Caltarion has an incredibly hot climate all over, much of the heat being radiated from the core of the planet. It lacks any large body of water like the oceans of Earth, instead gaining water from pockets found within the highest peaks of the multiple mountains which surround the terrain. In fact, it is too hot to live on the actual surface of the planet, and thus most of the population live in floating cities or villages that speckle the peaks of mountains. There is a large amount of discrimination in the planet, reminiscent of racism in Earth or the White vs. green Martian affair on Mars. On Caltarion, there are four main types of people, and the minority rule over the planet with a hefty amount of prejudice against those whom are not of the same type. This ruling minority is the Rashna, a breed of Caltarion who are born with all eight senses- sight, taste, hearing, touch, smell, energy, psychometry, and ability perception (the capability to be instantly aware of another person's skills and powers). They make up about ten percent of the population, and primarily live in the upperclass sections of the floating cities, with the exception of government officials who govern the mountain villages. The next are the Virtas, who have the senses of sight, taste, hearing, touch, smell, and energy- they are middle class citizens, and live in the cities. Third are Jornins, who have sight, taste, touch and psychometry- they are lower class and are usually found only in villages and slums. The final class, considered to be the lowest of the low, is that of the Koles- who have energy, taste, hearing, touch, and ability perception. They live in villages and, in some cases, are forced to live very near to the surface of the planet. Due to this, many Koles have adapted to extreme temperatures. Some do live in the cities, but typically as servants or, in unfortunately many cases, as slaves to Rashnas. All of the races have different powers which are associated with them as well, though there are powers which seem to apply to all four types.

Delphinium is a person who has a very strong sense of wrong and right, and will not hesitate in order to bring about what she perceives as being justice, regardless of what methods may be necessary in order to achieve it. She simply is incapable of leaving those in need alone, as though something physically prohibits her from doing so, and in that way has a slight Hercules Complex, though she isn't always going to use the most noble means in order to help that person. In fact, she is perfectly fine with the idea of getting revenge on someone who has wronged her, or using shadowy ways to punish someone who has harmed others willingly. To her, the ends justify the means a million times over, and that is perfect for her, though she may do things that others find immoral or harmful on her way to acquire her version of justice. She is simply very opinionated, the sort who will stick by her word and decisions until the very end, and isn't going to hide what she thinks from anyone. She acts on her opinions as well, not the type who will say one thing and do another- a sort of honesty binds her to her word, regardless of whether the situation may change to twist her own pledges against herself, as the case has been before. Although she is quite honest and blunt, as well as the sort who strives to help others and right wrongs, the young female is not the most optimistic individual. Some would find this strange, given her actions to try and further the cause of equality and such, but it is true nonetheless. She has high hopes for the future, but is never surprised when things go wrong, given her slightly lower expectations. Hope for the best but expect the worst- that is a sort of creed she lives by in order to best avoid being thrown off guard by unfortunate circumstances.

Del was born into the lowest class of the Caltarion civilization- she was born as a Kole, the class which is forced to dwell closer to the scorching surface of Caltar, or else serve those of the Rashna race. In her situation, the young woman was born in the lower villages to her two parents, Rania and J'aan. However, once she was born, her parents began to seek a way to give her a better situation, even if only slightly so. They found work serving a Rashna family, lucky to be paid servants rather than slaves, and moved up to one of the floating cities, where they lived in a small apartment on the property of the wealthy family they worked for. Del was raised at the mercy of that Rashna family and their spoiled children, who treated her as their personal slave of sorts. She was not the most docile of people, and would often rebel, only to find that it would be her parents who were punished for such actions. Eventually she calmed down, to some degree, for fear of hurting her parents even further. She worked secretly to further the cause of equality, but found it to be a lost one- there were no heroes on Caltar, no one to save those who were persecuted for merely existing as people whom were not in control. She was one of the lucky ones, as her family managed to sneak on to a flight to Mars, and from there immigrate to Earth. This happened when she was, by human standards, approximately sixteen years old. After that, she began to live in America for 2 human years, amazed and pleased at the existence of heroes in this world, though she thought that perhaps many were too optimistic on the methods through which they could assist others. She attended a human school to try and learn about the society, and thanks to a rapid learning capability was able to do so, though many cultural facts still bewilder her. She was soon an active member of the community, fighting for equality in an open way that she was unable to back on Caltar. After a while, she joined the Alternates as an attempt to continue doing good- even if it wasn't through the methods one hears about in the 'white knight' style of comic books.

Energy [Sense] -- Del is able to sense energies, primarily those of one's life force. The closer one is to death, the dimmer their force. Those with mutant abilities have a stronger energy force than the mundane, and thus she can identify them much more rapidly. Though she lacks the sense of sight, the young female is able to know the general location of a person by their energy. If she knows someone well enough, she may be able to identify their energy specifically.
Ability [sense] -- As well as knowing when someone is mutant in some way, thanks to her energy sense, Del is also capable of knowing exactly what their abilities are, though it requires more effort- not unlike identifying a scent or sound.
Knowledge Absorption -- While humans can typically only use a small portion of their minds, Caltarions can use seventy percent of their own brains- enabling them to absorb knowledge at a faster pace. This is how Del and her family picked up on the language of Earth and adapted to the basic knowledge of their current location.
Mental Influence -- The Caltarions share one ability with Martians, and that is using their minds in order to influence those of people who have weaker minds. Del is able to project illusions onto others, making them see what she wants them to see, as well as insert her personal thoughts into the minds of others, somewhat controlling them by making her thoughts their own. If she focuses enough, she risks damaging the mind of the one she manipulates.
Strength -- Along with a warrior-like training that she went through whilst living in the difficult conditions of the lower villages, Del possesses an intense strength shared by the rest of her species. Although this strength seemed typical on Caltar, she finds that on Earth it is considered supernatural, and thus limits herself when in the public eye.
Adaptation -- An ability singular to the Koles in Caltar, Del is able to adapt to her physical surroundings in order to survive- it is how they are able to live both on the scorching lower level of the Earth and the frigid floating cities. If she were to find herself submersed in water, Del would grow gills, or would adapt to not require oxygen if outside of an atmosphere. She cannot, however, adapt to grow wings if falling, or stop herself from being shot with an energy attack- she would likely turn to metal or stone, and still be affected by it.

Caltars actually have similar appearances to humans, having the same form and general sensory organs, etc. They have slightly different organ systems, but the only physical differences are the eyes, which are completely white, with no irises, and their pointed ears, which resemble those of an elf's. Otherwise, they are identical to humans in outward appearance.

Because she came here with no concept of heroes wearing colorful costumes or anything of that sort, Del doesn't have a costume resembling those of the more well known heroes. Instead, she adopts her true form and wears a tight-fitting black T-shirt with combat boots and army-style pants with plenty of pockets, as well as a small mask in order to guard her face, because it is the same as it is in her human form.
