secrets:
as a teenager, lee was blackmailed into selling sex. somebody had some compromising footage of him, and told him it would be released to the world if he didn't do exactly as he was told. at first, it was small things, things he could handle. but when he started being forced to have sex with grown men and women, he started doing anything he could to get out of it. eventually, he became so desperate that he just went to the police. the video was never released, as far as he knows, but there's a part of him that still worries.

appearance:
at 5'11, lee stands only a little above average height. he's slim, with some muscle, but on the whole there isn't much to him. His hair is jet black and always just on the stylish side of messy. he doesn't do much maintenance with it, just runs his fingers through it and hopes for the best. He tans at the slightest ray of sun, and his skin stays a light brown all year round. His brown eyes are slightly downturned and narrow, but are bright, and friendly when he smiles. He usually wears contacts, but wears his glasses on occasion- usually when he's tired or stressed. he's always quite well dressed, and is seldom seen looking disheveled. his ears are pierced, and he has a tragus piercing in his right ear. he also has a number of small, easily hidden tattoos. his favourite is an outline of an elephant on his ribs, with the words "je ne regrette rien" in a fancy script beneath. he also has a paper airplane on his inner forearm, gotten the summer he went travelling, a flock of birds on one shoulder blade, and "breathe" over his heart.
personality:
lee comes across as an open book to many. unapologetic about who he is, he's flirtatious, he's open with his affections, and he's regularly found sprawled across some of his friends. he laughs easily, and is known to get the giggles in the middle of a lecture over something relatively small. outspoken is perhaps the wrong word for him, but he's not afraid to speak his mind or to say that something is wrong if it's wrong. he's honest with everyone around him, but not brutally so. at times, he's adventurous, loving exploring and trying new things. he went travelling with a few friends last summer and developed a wanderlust he fears may never be fulfilled. he has been known to hook up with people for one night stands, but that's where things get a little... complicated.

many expect lee to be more promiscuous than he actually is. but sex is a complicated subject to him. when you spend eighteen months being manipulated into having sex with total strangers, sometimes the thought of having sex with strangers makes him panic a little. but sometimes, it feels liberating that he can now do it out of his own choice. he hates being drunk, because he feels like he's not in control of himself, of his own fight. getting drunk is how this all began. underneath the surface, despite appearances, lee is an anxious mess. half the time he doesn't even know why he's anxious. he got on flights to jet around the world with his friends, and spent weeks wandering around unfamiliar cities, and that was when he felt at his least anxious. he's afraid that everybody knows, that everyone is going to turn on him and betray him. he sometimes shoves people away when he's particularly bad, because he lets his brain convince him that they don't love him or even like him. he lets his anxiety rule him and refuses to do anything about it or talk about it. he has himself convinced that doing so will only give people more ammunition, will just make people like him even less. he's a little lost, feeling like he isn't in control of his fate.

lee's upbringing was thoroughly unremarkable. he was the youngest of two kids, his sister being 5 years older than him. they were close, but still fought and argued from time to time. lee's parents were pretty open-minded, and knew that trust was the most important thing with their kids. so they always trusted them, and the trust was mutual. lee had an idea that he wasn't just attracted to girls from a young age, but nothing really came of it.

as a teenager, lee was much more into partying than his sister ever had been. not to the point where it was a problem- again, him and his parents were open about it. they didn't have a problem with him having a few drinks, as long as he was smart about it. and for the most part, he was. then there was one night. his parents were out of town, so he was going to be staying with a friend anyway. he had a few more drinks than usual, and his inhibitions were gone. there was a guy at the party, a guy lee recognised. a friend of his sister's or her boyfriend or something. they ended up having sex. it was supposed to be a one time thing. but at a party a few weeks later, when lee was more sober, they hooked up again, against lee's best judgement. this proved to be one of the worst mistakes he'd made.

unknownst to lee, the older guy had filmed it. he threatened to send it to all of lee's friends and family if lee didn't do as he was told. lee wasn't yet out to his family, and while he had already been planning on coming out to them, this wasn't how he wanted it to be. so he did as the boy said. at first it was small things. then it turned into something more malicious. lee would attend parties with him, and lee would then be forced to have sex with strangers. the other man was generous. he let lee keep some of the money he earned. but after a while, after the guy turned malicious when lee refused to do something, lee realised that he needed to get out. he came out to his family, then went to the police and told him what had happened. they caught him and it transpired that lee wasn't the only person who he'd manipulated in such a way. lee left for college before the court case was even over, and he had deliberately chosen somewhere far away. he doesn't go home all that much, not with all the memories it brings up. he's afraid he'll run into someone who recognises him from those parties, or worse, a former client. so he finds excuses not to go back. but he still talks to his family regularly. he's hoping that he would have been able to leave it all behind him, but now he's being called home.

So begins...

Lee had never imagined himself being held like this by Link. And yet, here he was. He inhaled deeply, taking in the smell of Link. He just wanted to remember this moment, the feeling of being guided oh so carefully to Link's bike. He climbed on, carefully, still aware of how clouded his head was. He took the helmet and pulled it on. It felt a tad claustrophobic, but he wasn't going to not wear it. He could just about hear Link through it, and he wrapped his arms around Link as tightly as he could. And then they were off, speeding into the night. Perhaps on any other night, Lee might have enjoyed it, but the speed almost made the dizziness worse. But he didn't dare close his eyes for fear he'd pass out. So he just held on tighter to Link.

Glad that the other male couldn't see his face, Link had blushed lightly. His dark blue eyes focused on the road. His heart beating fast, with Lee's arms around him. He smiled, this is what their life could've been. If his mom had lived, if he had been brave enough to tell someone about his dad. But he hadn't been, and now he lived in the fear of being harmed, or harming those close to him. He should see his brother soon, maybe talk to him about it. He was proud of the gargantuan little shit. The scenery of the night had always eased Link's mind, the sound of the cars passing by him on the road, the calm and collected feeling the night had anyway. Stopping at a red light, he spoke up slightly. "You doing okay back there Lee? We're almost at the hotel, so just hold tight a few more minutes."

As he finished speaking, the light they had stopped at turned green, and with another rev of his engine, the duo would race down the streets. Ending up at the hotel, that Link was staying in. Turning off the motorcylcle, he let himself sit on the bike for just a little longer, with Lee's arms wrapped around his body.

The night blew by in a whirl of blurred colours and lights. Despite the vague nausea, he found a slight rush of adrenaline starting to pump through his veins. It sucked that this was the first and possibly only time this was ever going to happen. He had to keep reminding himself to enjoy it before it vanished, before things went back to how they were. As they stopped at a red light, he could hear Link talking to him. He just nodded, but they took off again into the night. And like Link said, it wasn't too far to the hotel. Once they stopped, Link didn't move. Lee didn't either, simply leaned his head against Link's back and just... let himself enjoy the moment. Let himself breathe. He only moved to pull off the helmet, because it was really starting to feel a bit claustrophobic. "Should we head inside? It's kinda cold," Lee said, because it was the first time he had really felt the cold. Or maybe it was just him being a little shaky. But either way, he felt like being in in the warmth would help.

"U...Uh yeah." he stammered, before he would get off the bike before placing Lee's arms over his shoulder to help him move off the bike. His eyes locking in the forever whirlpool of emotion. Moving slowly grabbing his wallet and taking out his room key, the two would be an awkward tangle of limbs walking up the stairs and finally reached the room, he swiped the card and opened up the door, leading the two to topple over and to protect Lee, he'd move in front quick leading to the other male landing on top of him.

Moving inside was a little awkward. Lee was leaning more on Link than he would have liked, but he was starting to have a hard time keeping his eyes open. He was just so tired all of a sudden. And then there was the warmth of indoors, the feeling of Link's arm around him... for the first time all evening, he felt truly safe. Like he could just sleep. He didn't even notice he was falling until suddenly, he was on top of Link. And he was wide awake again, aware of how close his face was to Link's, of how physically close they were. He'd never looked into Link's eyes like this, the other man was that inch or so taller than him. But here they were now, this close. And thankfully some of Lee's impulse control was still intact, because in that moment, all he wanted to do was kiss Link. "Somebody's eager," he teased lightly, his words slurring more than he would have liked. He managed to get to his feet, somehow, managing to keep his balance.

His face turning red upon the impact of their bodies, he was thankful that the other male had gotten up as fast as he did, as he would shoot up straight after him. His mind currently on the situation that had just happened a few moments before, he would turn his head and try to calm himself down. He would chuckle a bit at the slurred tease the male uttered, before shutting the door softly behind Lee. "Mi casa es su casa. Um, I have some extra clothes for you if you'd like to change. And...I only got one bed, so I can take the floor if you'd like," he stopped himself from rambling, as he would move to the suitcase that he had brought with him, and took out a soft gray sweatshirt, reading their high school's name and a pair of black sleep shorts. He set the clothes down on the bed, before he idly wandered around."Ummm are you hungry? I could order some pizza if you'd like."

"You don't have to sleep on the floor, I don't mind sharing," Lee said, then immediately realised what he'd said and blushed a little. "Or I can sleep on the floor, I honestly don't mind," he hastily added. He picked up the clothes and looked around for a bathroom to change. "No, thanks, I'm not hungry. Kinda just... tired." He decided against mentioning the nausea. "Where's the bathroom? Just so I can change," he asked. God, it sounded just as awkward as he felt, and he had to stop himself from cringing. It was like being an awkward teenager all over again and he hated it.

They've shared a bed before, well, it was a tangle of limbs and a night Link actually enjoyed. But, he didn't need to admit that he wanted to share a bed with Lee, just the two of them holding each other. His dark blue eyes stared at Lee, the beauty the other male held. He'd realize he was staring towards the other boy, he'd turn red and look away. "O..Oh yeah, the bathrooms over there, and we can share the bed. It's nothing to be concerned about. Plus, it'd be better to have someone right there on your side incase somehting happened," he'd briefly let out, befor he smiled awkwardly. While the other boy went into the bathroom to change, Link changed into his usual attire for sleeping, and sat on the bed.

There was a moment of silence when Link just looked at Lee. Lee found himself blushing and unable to maintain eye contact. He didn't miss Link doing the same though. He nodded as Link pointed out the bathroom, and had to suppress another blush when Link said they coud share the bed. He had a point, but Lee had never quite forgotten the first time they'd shared a bed. It had been a little awkward at first, but that hadn't stopped him from enjoying it immensely. He stepped into the bathroom to change. The clothes were soft and comfortable, and he was immediately grateful for them. Sleeping in his own clothes wouldn't have been ideal at all. He stepped back out into the bedroom and sat down on the bed beside Link. "Thanks."

"It's no problem, anything for you, gorgeous...." his mind froze, his body froze. He didn't mean to utter those words, but looking at Lee, something withing urged him too. He knew that Lee probably wouldn't remember in the morning. Link bit his lip, before he took a deep breath and would mentally speak to himself. "Yougot this Cole, your old man's dead. Don't. Be. A. Pussy." he would nervously look down before he'd chuckle lightly and whispered a slight here goes nothing. "Lee, I haven't been fully honest with you. I love you.....I have since that first night we fucked. Sounds weird, but because of you I felt like I was important. I felt like I could do this, but I got scared. I became so in my head of what everyone else's opinions were, I saw you get the shit kicked out of you at school. My dad was the coach, I couldn't risk it....," he paused before he turned Lee's face towards his own and pressed his forehead to the other beginning to speak once more. "I figured if I hurt you enough you'd hate me. You'd leave, and I could be...normal again. But you didn't you'd retaliate. And it made me even more heads over heels for you. So I took it as you being my personal target, that way nobody could hurt you. But....it fucked me over and fucked you over. I couldn't stop thinking of you, even after I left. Tee and I stayed up for hours talking about it. I never tried to reach out, because I'm still driven by that fear.....Lee Romero. I love you, and I have since I first laid my eyes on your beautiful brown ones," he finished befrore he'd breath slowly. His mind internalizing what he just did, before he would look into Lee's eyes which were so close to his own, for a hopeful sign of rejection or disgust....that way it'd make it so much easier for Link to move on.

Lee just looked at Link as he called him gorgeous, a little taken aback. And then he started speaking, and Lee suddenly couldn't keep eye contact. He'd hoped- not even hoped, dreamed- that something like this would happen. Not in this exact situation, obviously. But he hadn't ever let himself believe it might actually happen. He'd struggled to let himself believe that Link would ever even just look at him that way. But then Link was pressing his forehead to Lee's, and Lee had no choice but to look him in the eyes. Lee doubted he'd be able to remember any of this in the morning, and he wished he would. It was everything he'd wanted to hear. Everything he'd wanted. And when Link finished, Lee found himself speechless. His brain was swimming too much for him to form a coherent sentence, for him to say everything that he wanted to say. So instead he leaned in and kissed Link, all the while hoping that something might just stick in his brain for him to remember in the morning.

As their lips collided, his mind suddenly stopped. It was like everything he had just spoken into reality, and he loved it. His mind reverted back to the night they shared. The sweet kisses, the tender promises. All of which Link had shattered. They were deep into the kiss, and he pulled away for breath. He smiled, and he'd look at Lee with a tender smile. He was glad he could get this out, even though it wouldn't be remembered. He'd shrug, and smile. "I think...it's time for us to sleep. I can already tell we'll have a big day tomorrow, with more Sara-related events."

Lee smiled as Link pulled away, his head already feeling calmer and clearer. He didn't know what tomorrow held, but for the first time he found himself not worrying about it. Maybe it was the drug, maybe it was the kiss, maybe it was a combination of factors too broad to comprehend. He nodded as Link suggested they go to sleep. "Yeah. Sounds good.

Link would lay down, pulling the other male closer to him. wrapping his arms around the other, pulling him closer than he had earlier. He hummed happily as he whispered a small goodnight to Lee. His mind thinking about the other boy, but slowly turning from the happiness to the worst possible situation. He had ended up hurting the other so much, he had damaged him...both mentally and physically.

Lee let himself be pulled close by Link, smilling. He could already feel sleep starting to pull at the corners of his mind, so he didn't try to resist it, just let himself drift off to sleep in Link's arms.

xxx"now it's four in the morning
xxxi'm just trying to find myself.
xxxwhat the hell did i do?
xxxi'm the life of the party."

The following morning

It took Link a couple of moments after waking up to realise that something was wrong. He'd been enjoying the warmth of another body in the bed and how quiet it was. The first indication that something was wrong was the pounding headache in his head, that the light did absolutely nothing to help. Despite himself, he groaned a little, throwing an arm over his eyes. And as he tried to remember exactly how much he'd had to drink the night before, it suddenly struck him that he couldn't remember half of what had happened. He could just about remember talking to Link, Link's apology was a little blurry, but after that? Nothing. And suddenly the presence of another person in the bed with him wasn't quite so comforting. No matter how much he had to drink, no matter how drunk he was, he was always able to remember something.

And a wave of nausea came over him like a tidal wave. He was in the bathroom before he even had time to contemplate it. Which was good, because as soon as he reached the toilet, he threw up. This wasn't just a hangover. They were nothing new. He just needed to down an entire litre of water, and he was fine. His body appeared to have gained a tolerance for them over the years. God knows he'd drank enough at some of those parties. This was something different.

He flushed the toilet and turned on the cold tap, staring at himself. He wasn't even wearing his own clothes. He didn't recognise the clothes he was wearing. Well, he did, the sweatshirt had the name and sports crest of their old school on it, but it sure as hell wasn't his, and neither were the shorts. He splashed cold water on his face, desperately trying to remember anything from the night before.

Link was content in the bed, his eyes closed, a dream of him and Lee just living a life together played inside his mental scape. But he woke up, when the sudden source of warmth left his body. His eyes shot open, as he heard the sounds of vomitting. Soon, everything the night before came back to him flooding. His taking Lee to his hotel room, his and Lee talking, his confession......their kiss. He nervously looked around the room, eyes widened as he would look back and forth. Before he whispered a slight "Hey.....uh you okay in there?". Facepalming he got up, and would walk over, somehow his shirt having been taken off in the midst of his sleep. He quickly threw a random shirt on before standing in the doorway to the bathroom. A chuckle escaped his lips as he spoke.

"Guessing you drank too much, huh?"

He laughed with a slight joke, he knew it was too early for a joke based around Lee's drugged experience. But he couldn't really think of something more clever to speak of. So he walked over to the bed, and took his phone out, and sent a quick text to Tee.

xxx"now it's four in the morning

xxxwhat the hell did i do?
xxxi'm the life of the party."

Lee heard a voice, making a casual joke about how he'd had too much to drink. It took a few seconds too long for the voice to register in his head, and by that point, he'd already turned around and glared at them. At Link. And then shock took over as Link walked over to check his phone. He was so casual, so relaxed about it all, and that just sent Lee's anxiety into a downward spiral.

"Link. What the fuck happened last night? I can remember one drink. One. I don't make a habit of getting blackout drunk." Perhaps if his mood had been better, perhaps if his anxiety hadn't decided to express itself in the form of anger, he could have made a joke or something. But he couldn't remember what had happened or how he had ended up here. He wasn't even totally sure where here was. And not knowing what had happened was driving him crazy. He'd had too many nights when he'd gotten so drunk that he didn't care what was happening to him.

"I- how- what-" He had to stop himself and give himself a chance to breathe and formulate the questions in his head. He had to stay calm. He couldn't get angry until he had a better idea of what exactly had happened, and he sure as hell couldn't lose a grip on his anxiety. He wasn't going to humiliate himself like that.

He took a deep breath and forced himself to ask the question that was at the forefront of his mind. "I can't remember anything after your apology, so you're going to have to fill me in. Concise version, please, if I threw up on you or anything I don't want to remember. And... did anything happen? Between us, I mean?" He asked. He hated himself for asking it. As far as he knew, Link hadn't thought about him like that since that one night. It was probably a
completely ridiculous question, but his mind wasn't going to shut up until he asked it. "I need you to be honest with me."

Link froze, he didn't need to tell Lee....just yet. His mind went back to the best part of the night before. The kiss had been the most important Link felt he had ever had. Even though it wasn't in the other boy's memory. His eyes lingered on the other's lips as he began to think. "Yeah, we I confessed my love for you while you were drugged. Did some sappy ass cliche romance movie shit, and pressed our foreheads together then we shared a wonderful kiss that took my everlasting breath away." He shook his head. His mind refusing to let those words escape his mouth. He simply shook his head before he began to speak.

"Uh, no. After I apologized we talked about the bedding situation, and we decided it'd be better for me to sleep next to you in case you had some urgency or something. Then we went to sleep, because of whatever today's events may be," he spoke fidgeting with his pant string, as he avoided looking into Lee's eyes. He couldn't bring himself to admit that he told Lee of his feelings last night. He was slightly ashamed, he took advantage of a poor situation. He didn't want to, but last night was the perfect oppurtunity to let all the burdens go. He still wanted to hold Lee, but he would have to suck it up, and hope Lee found someone who made him happy while they were in town. He looked at his phone immediately as he recieved a text.

From: Little Humanoid I Share Bloodlines With
MSG: yo, heard ur back in town 4 a lil, come see me. i havent seen u in 4ever. plsssss ly bro.

His heart warmed, maybe he could see Henry, take Lee with him? Probably? Lee might actually hate him right now. His mind went into the zone it normally does when it came to his emotions. Ugh, why was light difficult.

Willow looked up as Rebecca asked what had happened. "Jesus, guess you were pretty out of it. We all went to the main party last night, then someone got thrown out for spiking drinks, then the atmosphere got a little weird so Heather invited us all around to hers for a bit. And then things get a little blurry but I think Tee brought you here? I'm not sure to be honest. We all just sat around, drank for a bit, and chatted, then fell asleep." Willow shrugged as Rebecca asked if she had shorts. "Nope, sorry. But get me some fabric and a sewing machine and I could mock you up some," she said, before blushing and staring intensely at her phone as Rebecca mentioned just wandering around in her underwear. She didn't feel that way about Rebecca any more, it had been a drunken, foolish decision. But given that it had happened, it seemed a little too close to the bone.

"And uh, if you guys could just find some flour, eggs, and milk, that would be a good start," she said, finally deciding on a recipe that sounded tasty but also wouldn't involve them having to raid all of Heather's cupboards in search of specific ingredients. It felt a little weird cooking in someone else's kitchen without their explicit permission, but she'd clean up after herself and make plenty to go around.

"So, how have you guys been? Seemed that none of us really stuck around here after senior year, huh?" She remarked.

Lee sighed with relief as Link confirmed that nothing had happened between them, running a hand through his hair. "Guess you were truly my honourable knight in shining armour." The words were out of his mouth before he even had time to think about them, but he just covered it up with a grin. He had a reputation as being flirtatious, maybe Link wouldn't think too much about it. His stomach twisted a little as Link looked down at his phone and grinned. It was probably nothing, but Lee's mind spun into overdrive as usual. He walked across the room to retrieve his clothes. He hesitated as he went to go back to the bathroom to change.

"Listen, Link... Thank you. For taking me here, giving me clean clothes, for not just abandoning me at the party. I know that I probably started freaking out on you a little bit, I have a... a bit of a thing about being... well, about even just being drunk but... you had my back. I... don't want to think what might have happened if you hadn't. So... yeah, thanks." There was a crazy moment when his brain told him to kiss Link, and an even crazier moment where he considered it. But then reality kicked back in, and he remembered the smile on Link's face as he looked at his phone. He'd always thought that Link would never look at him that way, and now it was starting to seem more and more like that was the case. He found his eyes lingering a little longer on Link's lips than he would have liked, and found himself frozen to the spot for a moment. It felt wrong, like this was the type of thing that should change their relationship forever. But Lee also felt sure that after this, their lives would go on as if nothing had ever happened.

He sent the text before hearing Lee begin to speak, his heart warmed. He did it because Lee was an important person to him whether he knew or not. The larger male would simply walk over to him, and give him a "brotherly" hug. Wrapping his arms around the sitting boy's waist before quickly pulling away. His heart beating faster as he did. "No problem Lee, I didn't feel great about leaving you alone like that, you were kinda drugged so it was bound to happen where you freaked out. But, this is just a partial way for me to apologize even further for all the shit I put you through in high school," he spoke with a smile, before his phone vibrated and saw his brother text him back.

MSG: yo thts good u have friends here lmao. anyway u can meet my gf shes so niceeeeee and pretty

The male laughed again before he focused on Lee, lingering his gaze over the other boy's lips. Only if he could bring himself to do this when he didn't have a slight buzz, or he could easily pull the other male in for a kiss. Maybe soon, but not now. Link would smirk before he'd open up his mouth to speak.

"Yo, Lee. How'd you like to come with me to see my lil bro?

Lee hugged Link back, wishing he could stop his heart from pounding like it was. He grinned and shrugged a little as Link said it was an apology for everything he had done in high school. But something, deep down, made Lee's heart sink a little. Because he had been letting himself that there was more to it than that. His heart squeezed a little tighter as Link's phone vibrated again, and as Link laughed at the text. But then Link asked him a question that changed everything and relit just a spark of hope in him.

"Uh, yeah, I'd love to. Just let me get changed, okay?" He said with a grin. If it had just been his brother he was texting then maybe... maybe there wasn't anyone else. Maybe he still stood a- No. No, he couldn't think like that. He didn't stand a chance. Link never would look at him that way and he needed to accept that. He grabbed the rest of his clothes and disappeared into the bathroom to get changed. He leaned against the cold tiles and took a deep breath. He retrieved his phone and sent a quick text.

To: Rebecca
I have so much goss to fill you in on. Where are you?

He changed back into his clothes from the night before and knocked on the door. "You decent?" He called before stepping back into the main room.

Rebecca sighed at hearing no one had anything she could change into, pull up her jeans and adjusting her shirt as she sat up on the island counter. β€œStraight up, I don’t remember a thing. Well atleast I’m somewhere safe, and I don’t feel too bad besides what feels like a hangover.” Rebecca said kicking her legs about in response to Willow. Benji came up next to Rebecca asking if she was okay in a low voice, he obviously heard her this morning not feeling too swell. β€œAwe, does little Benji care about me?” Rebecca said messing with his hair. β€œYeah I’m fine.”

Willow continued to talk after Rebecca’s little comment to Benji, asking about ingredients, as well as how they have been after they all disappeared from Roseville. It had been awhile, Rebecca was one of the first to leave and to never look back, so she wasn’t too surprised when she heard through the grapevine that the others have left as well. β€œWell London has been great. British boys are so cute with their accents, and they get really defensive over their dates when they are drunk. It is really funny to be honest. And I saw some eggs and milk in the fridge, flour probably in a pantry somewhere.” Rebecca said with a shrug and chugging the rest of her water.

Shortly after they talked and before anyone could get any ingredients Heather popped in. β€œOh hey Heather! Oh this must be your place then. Was confused for a second about where I was…” Rebecca said pushing herself off the counter and standing up as Heather left for a second and came back. Heather and Willow exchanged some words as Rebecca opened numerous cabinets looking for the cookware, finally finding a cutting board and a mixing bowl and putting them on the counter. Heather grabbed all the base ingredients and set them on island counter, where Rebecca wasn’t sitting.

Rebecca felt a buzz in her pocket and brought out her phone to see what was up, only a select few had her number. She smiled and replied to Lee’s text

To: Lee! :3
Ohhhh. Can’t wait to hear it! I think at Heathers? Heres my location.

Rebecca hit send followed by her location using her maps app.

"Great! You wanna, grab something to eat before we go out? And yeah, I'm dressed." he asked as he chuckled a bit.

He'd straighten his jacket and smile, reading the text from his brother telling him where they can meet. He would sit on the bed, and twiddle his thumbs essentially, as Lee came out. He would send a smile towards him, and laugh again. He was ready to become friends with Lee, maybe somehow during this small period they were in the same city, he could make up for the shit he put the other man through. He looked him over, before he bowed towards the door his hands outwards. "After you milady," he'd speak before ushering the other boy out of the room, and move him towards his motorcycle. Before getting on, he'd send a small text to Rebecca.

To: Bex
MSG: yo, where u @? you get home okay?

He sent the text with a huff, as he looked over to Lee. A slight red tint going to his face before he suggested the male get on the back of the bike.

Willow laughed at Rebecca's comments about England. She hadn't even realised that she'd been in an entirely different country. She'd fallen out of touch with so many people, it was strange. All of her college friends still stayed in touch with people from college, still met up with them for coffee and drinks. Willow occasionally texted some people. But she was terrified that somebody would ask questions about what had happened with her and Jake, about somebody finding out what she'd done. She didn't miss Rebecca ruffling Benji's hair, and had to turn away quickly. She wasn't jealous. She couldn't be.

She glanced over the ingredients that had been set out, and glanced over at Benji with a smile as he started mixing ingredients for her. She nodded as he asked if she could make a batch without banana. "Of course we can. We can't go making you unwell now, can we?" She remarked with a grin, starting to weigh out the flour and sugar. Her smile stayed in place as he started talking about what he'd been doing since they'd last seen each other. "That sounds amazing, Benji. I've been to Paris, Milan, LA... I've done the cities, but I'd love to travel a bit more. Some cultures have amazing clothing, and even if it isn't mine to wear, I'd still love to experience it. I'd love to see those photos. I'm around for a few more days, so we'll have to meet up." She said with a smile. "Oh, Rebecca, Heather, can you chop some bananas? I think two should do, I'm going to make half and half, just so we all have a bit of choice," she said.

Lee smiled at Rebecca's text, and quickly texted her back.

To: Rebecca
Awesome- I would come round but, very long story short, I'm going with Link for brunch with his brother. Will fill you in on all the goss immediately after though xx

Link's smile and laugh made Lee smile despite himself. He refused the offer of food- he was feeling okay, but still didn't want to chance eating anything before travelling. He didn't feel like throwing up just yet. They went down towards the bike, Lee sticking close to Link all the time. His memories from the night before were still completely gone. He couldn't remember a thing from a certain point, and that was still making him anxious.

He didn't pay too much intention to Link's blush as he climbed onto the bike, but did when it came to wrapping his arms around Link. He was glad that it couldn't be seen. The journey passed in a blur, and at some point, he felt his phone buzz. Assuming it was Rebecca, he didn't even think to look at it until they arrived and he got off the bike. He frowned as he saw it was from an unknown message- and he felt his heart stop as he read the content of the message.

From: Unknown
I killed your friend Sarah. Such a shame about her secret. Such a shame somebody leaked it. You might be next.

And as Lee read it, another came in.
From: Unknown
How do you think everyone would react if they knew what you used to do at those parties? How do you think Lincoln would react if he knew exactly how many people you slept with? Or if he saw that video?

Lee's phone clattered to the ground as Lee stared at Link. Had he heard Link's phone buzz? Had they sent around the video? Was that the text? After everything, was Link going to be horrified, disgusted by him? Lee suddenly felt like he was under water, like he was drowning. He couldn't breathe, he felt like he was going to start suffocating.

As the others started started talking about what they had been doing since they all left, Rebecca let out a small smile. It was good to hear people were still happy and having fun, it made it feel less guilty about leaving and never really keeping in touch with a select few. Rebecca honestly missed high school. Yeah she was out making an easy living and enjoying freedom, but all the adventures and memories they had back here were great for Rebecca. As she was day dreaming about the past, her phone went off again, but this time a message from Link, asking if she was okay and where she was. Rebecca sighed, wondering why everyone was asking if she was okay, she had no memory of the night before.

To: Link TheBoyWhoDared
Why is everyone asking if I’m okay, what happened? I’m at Heather’s.

Rebecca hit sent as Willow started talking to her, asking if she and Heather can cut up the bananas for the pancakes. β€œSure thing! Better than me just standing here looking pretty right?” Rebecca said with a giggle and started peeling the bananas and putting them on the cutting board between her and Heather. After she peeled it her phone went off again. β€œSorry y’all, seems like I’m popular this morning.” Rebecca said as she saw it was from Lee.

To: Lee! :3
Link? As in Lincoln Cole? The guy I would do dumb shit with and would bully you? Better be a good story. Also, people keep asking about if I’m okay from last night. Did I do something?

As Rebecca hit send, she received another text, but since her phone was already unlocked and in the texting app it didn’t buzz. Rebecca immediately felt sick to her stomach as she read it, walking out of the room seeing it had a video attachment. β€œI-I'll be right back"

From: Unknown Caller ID
Oh Rebecca Cruze. Nice friends you are with. What would they do if they knew the truth? Would they judge you just like everyone judged Sarah after I killed her and her secret got out? See you soon darling.

Rebecca opened up the video down the hall out of view. It was a really bad quality camera showing Rebecca running the stop sign and causing the car crash. Rebecca gasped and covered her mouth seeing the impact and quickly deleting the video and being speechless. She just slumped against the wall in the hallway, trying not to panic. After taking a breather she replied numerous times to the unknown person. Asking who they are, what they want, what they want her to do. But never got a reply while she sat in the hallway, head between her knees.

Lincoln's breathing stopped for a second, looking towards his phone. All of a sudden anger would replace it and he'd grip the handles of his bike. Who the fuck could even know that? He didn't tell anyone. How the fuck. He looked back to Lee, to see him paused, paying more attention to the other boy than his own problem. "Hey, you just got a text too?" he asked. From the look on Lee's face, he got a message of equal mystery or danger. The only thing on his mind, was what was Lee shocked about? Not his business however, as Link turned around and grabbed the other boy and pulled him closer.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. Just breathe okay? I'm here, everything's gonna be fine." he spoke. He'd rub a small circle on Lee's back trying to sooth the other boy, whispering calming words into his ears. He'd just keep the boy there. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any thoughts from him or Lee that Lincoln was trying to avoid.

The moment Link's arms closed around Lee, he felt like he could breathe again. He'd always found comfort in physical contact. Or for years he had anyway. Being manipulated into having sex with strangers had kinda taken that away. But now with Link there, holding him, Lee never wanted to be let go. He pressed his face into Link's shoulder, breathing deeply. He was so nearly calm- and then it hit him again like a wave. If Link found out, this might never happen again. If people found out, nobody would hold him like this. He would be mocked and ostracised and lose everyone he had.

He forced himself to take a deep breath, moving his head to press his face against Link's neck. He couldn't see any way in which it would work out and he wouldn't end up heartbroken. But he didn't know what that person wanted and didn't know if he would even be able to stop it from getting it out. He didn't know it would. He didn't know if that person even had it. But he'd gone so long without that fear being so present, so strong. Sure, it had always been at the back of his mind, always a concern, but now it was there and immediate and present.

He wasn't even quite sure what he was thinking when he looked up at Link. And was even less sure what he was thinking, what he was doing, when he leaned up to kiss Link. He had never been one for PDA. But his desire for comfort, for physical comfort was driving him to do stupid things.

As Rebecca sat there with the million thoughts going through her head, she heard someone rush into the bathroom, turn on the sink and, much like her this morning, filling the bathroom up with puke. When the door opened she saw that it was Benji, and Benji had seen her looking, she quickly looked back down at the ground, not wanting it to seem like she was judging him or even paying attention. While looking back at the ground Rebecca watched out of the corner of her eye Benji sit next to her and continue to ask her if she’s okay. She guessed her teasing him and patting him on the head earlier didn’t really help. Rebecca let out a slight smile as he mentioned a little bit about the past.

Rebecca sighed and actually did lay her head onto Benji’s shoulder. He did offer after all. β€œIt’s just. A lot is going on. Back in Roseville all of the sudden is bringing back memories. People keep asking me if I’m okay from last night and talking abou-β€œ In the middle of talking Rebecca suddenly stopped and spaced out, remembering something. She remembered something about Lee freaking out and running outside, and she had followed him. But then it was just blank again. Lee? I mean, he’s okay since he texted me and seemed like nothing was up… Rebecca was brought out of her thoughts after hearing and realizing Willow had joined her and Benji in the hallway, being startled a little at first. Rebecca was scared for a second as she asked about if they got a weird message or something on their phone. Had the unknown number shared the video? Did he, she, they, spilled her secret?

β€œWell.” Rebecca thought about what to say. She couldn’t just come out and say it. She couldn’t just say that someone knew about her being the cause of her car accident. Rebecca rubbed her eyes for a second. β€œSome weird number texted me stuff about Sarah. A little creepy. I kind of freaked out, sorry.” Rebecca signed internally. What she had said wasn’t exactly a lie but wasn’t the full truth, her leaving out details about what the text actually was. She felt her phone buzz again, scared about what it was, but being relieved it was just Lincoln.

To: Link TheBoyWhoDared
Link. Something is going on. I’m scared. Got a text from some unknown number. Then Willow started asking about it. I'm sorry to crash whatever fun you’re having.

As he held Lee, he would pull back to look at him the two staring into the other's eyes as he felt Lee pull forward. Lips placed themselves on Link's his eyes closing as he leaned into the kiss, biting the male's lip softly before he'd realize what he was doing. Pulling back a bit abruptly as he sort of stumbled he'd look at the male and blink. What was he doing? Link couldn't do this in public? He wasn't ready. Nobody was around them, but Link's thoughts made him think otherwise. Imagining people staring at him from their windows, whispering to one another gossiping about the two boys. Link's eyes widened as he would softly repeat the same word "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. I'm so sorry." Moving away from the boy he'd stare towards him. What the fuck did he just allow to happen? He had worked so hard at trying to hide this, last night was a fluke. He shouldn't have enjoyed it. He did though. He liked it, and he was still so ashamed....so scared to admit that. Shaking his head he would sit down on the sidewalk nearby and place his hands over his ears, before snapping up to look at Lee.

"You can't tell anyone about this...you can't fucking tell anyone. Lee promise, FUCKING PROMISE ME YOU WON'T!,"
he'd shout causing a few people walking from their rooms to look down at the two.

Lee realised what he'd done a fraction of a second before he realised Link was kissing him back. There was a moment of joy, of relaxation- and then Link pulled away. His reaction was not what Lee was expecting, and it made the reality of their situation come crashing down from a height. "Link?" was all he could say, his heart pounding. He'd messed up, he'd messed up so badly. Link sat down on the pavement and all Lee could do was watch.

And then Link started shouting, and Lee recoiled. "I promise," he forced out, wrapping his arms around his chest. "I'm sorry," he choked out through tears, tears he hadn't even noticed. He stubbornly wiped them away with the heel of his hand. "I'll go." He said, retrieving his now cracked phone from the pavement, before turning and walking away, still wiping away tears. His phone was still working, but that damn text was still up. He opened up a text to Rebecca without even thinking, but then realised he couldn't face her right now. He couldn't face anyone right now. So he just shoved his phone back in his pocket and kept walking.

Did Link know? Was he ashamed that it was Lee? Had he seen the video and was so horrified to be kissing someone like him? Did everyone know? They had to. They had to. The anonymous texter- could it be Neil? Had Neil released it? Lee suddenly felt nauseous and faint all at once, and sank down onto a nearby bench, holding back sobs and a panic attack. He'd never asked for this. He hadn't asked for any of this. He didn't deserve it, did he?

Rebecca jumped a little when she heard a noise, well more of a crash in the kitchen. Benji was the first to get up, him saying sorry as he rushed up and into the kitchen. Rebecca looked over at Willow, a little bit of fear in both of their eyes. Before she could say anything to her, Benji yelled out something about Heather, and then willow rushed off. "What the fuck is going on” Rebecca said to herself as she pushed herself up and headed into the kitchen, quickly seeing Heather and gasping and covering her mouth. Benji was quickly on the ground and Willow on her knees putting a wet cloth on her forehead.

Before Rebecca could do anything, Willow started rambling again, she mentioned the party. Rebecca quickly had a small flashback of the party, remembering being outside and kissing Lee. When Rebecca came back to the situation at hand she quickly excused herself. β€œI-I’ll be right back” Rebecca said as she then stormed out the front door and onto the lawn, trying to catch her breathe and hands from shaking. Fuck, why did I kiss him. What’s wrong with me. Why didn’t he tell me, is he ashamed, I thought we were friends. Is this what everyone was talking about? A ton of thoughts flooded through Rebecca’s head, she thought about texting Lee, but right now she too was embarrassed. Benji and Willow were too caught up with Heather.

Heather woke up to the sound of thunder outside followed by a steady rainfall. Heather was her bed. There were the sounds of people talking amongst themselves somewhere outside her bedroom door. The girl remembered she had guest over and ran out the door to greet them. When she reached the living room something immediately felt off. The whole place was lit up by candles and the group were sitting in a wide circle. Willow, Rebecca, Lee, Benjamin, and Lincoln were there. But the thing that was surprising was Sarah being present as well someone she didn’t quite recognize.

β€œHey, Heather, you’re just in time!” Sarah called out. β€œWe’re playing β€˜never have I ever’. Come join us.” Heather reluctantly agreed as she was led to an empty space to sit as part of the circle. Everyone seemed genuinely happy but Heather couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. The game went on as usual and everyone was having a good time. But then the unfamiliar man butted in.

β€œThis game isn’t exciting enough! So let’s spice it up a bit.” The man then pulled out a pistol. To Heather’s shock everyone seemed to nod and mutter their approval as an empty bottle was placed on the floor in the middle of the circle. He then spun it. It pointed at Sarah.

β€œTruth or dare.” Everyone but Heather giggled at the man’s phrase including Sarah.

β€œUm, okay. Truth.” She said with a smile.

β€œTell everyone your deepest, darkest, secret.” Sarah’s smile faltered a little.

β€œWell, I guess if I had to choose then that time during spring brea-”

β€œWrong!” The man interrupted.

β€œThen the time I was in middle scho-”

β€œWrong again.” The man interrupted again.

β€œSarah,” Heather spoke up. β€œYou should, probably, to tell the truth.” She said in a cautious voice.

β€œIt’s none of your business, Heather!” And a gunshot rang out. Heather sat in place, in shock, staring at her dead friend. The only reaction from the others were tsk’s and mutters of disappointment.

β€œWell, let’s try again, shall we?” The man said and spun the bottle again. This time it landed on Heather. She looked from the bottle and up towards the man. The girl was now looking down the barrel of his gun while everyone else looked on in anticipation.

β€œTruth or dare, Heather?” The man asked and she squeezed her eyes shut, wishing she was somewhere--anywhere else.

When Heather opened her eyes again she say the faces of Ben and Willow looking over her. The girl jumped with a start before realizing she was awake. Then came the confusion of why she was on the ground. Then the memories came flooding back to her. Sarah’s death, everyone staying the night at her place, then the threatening text message.

Remembering the text, Heather quickly stood up to look for it. Luckily, her phone was on the counter with the screen switched off. Heather let out a sigh of relief before she felt herself sway a bit again. This time, due to the headrush from standing so suddenly. She let herself be guided to the living room and lay on a couch.

β€œI’m so sorry, guys. I must have missed the time to take my meds. Just give me a second.β€œ She let the cool rag rest on her forehead again before noticing something off and sat back up looking around. β€œGuys, where’s Rebecca?”

A few days had passed since they'd all received the texts, and things had been quiet. Or, at least, they hadn't gotten any texts. Life had gone on despite them. And for some, life had just gone on around them. Lee hadn't left the house since walking home from the incident with Link. He'd just ordered in take-out as he trawled the internet, feeding his paranoia. He'd analysed and analysed and had eventually come to the conclusion that Link had freaked out because it was him. Because it was Lee, known to be promiscuous. He'd fed his anxiety instead of doing anything else, instead of even going for a run.

And then Willow had sent a text around, asking them all to meet at her house. He didn't want to go. He hadn't been planning on going. But then she'd added that it was about the texts a bunch of them had received, and curiosity had gotten the better of him. So he'd thrown on some clean clothes, ran his hands through his hair, and set out for Willow's place.

Even if it was only a chill hangout, Willow felt like being a hostess. Perhaps it was due to the sundress she'd made and was now wearing to make sure it was comfortable. Or maybe it was just so she would have something to do, something to keep her hands busy. A medium quality red wine- not the cheapest, but she wasn't forking out a huge amount of money for them either. And finger food. It was nearly lunch-time anyway. She'd raided the internet and had produced some slightly messy spring rolls, handmade meatballs, chicken wings of various flavours, as well as some tortilla chips and salad. And she'd also produced a collection of sticky notes and had cleared a space of the wall for them to stick them up. Willow needed to take action. She needed to be doing something. She had just started sipping her first glass of wine when the doorbell rang, holding Lee on the other side. "Hey hun. Food in the sitting room." He nodded a little stiffly. "Uhh, who else is coming?" He asked, suddenly realising he might have to face someone he'd been avoiding. "Not sure. Guess we'll find out." She said, with a sigh and a sip of her wine.
