βPhysical Descriptionβ
In her human form, Serena isn't a very threatening sight. She stands at a mere 5'1", and her build is lithe with feminine curves. She's rather lean, from constantly swimming. Yet, unlike a lot of her fellow sea-dwellers, she spends a lot of time out of the water aswell. She has delicate features, and a soft expression that makes her look even less threatening. She has soft, petal pink cheeks and full lips of the same shade. She always looks like she is blushing slightly. She has wide, crystal blue eyes rimmed with long dark lashes. They are so bright, they are often the first thing most people notice about her. They stand out against the lightness of the rest of her. Her hair is rather odd- it is silky, straight, and the colour of a pearl. It cascades well past her waist, and while it causes no problems when she's in the water, it can be rather troublesome when she's in her human form. Her soft, delicate appearance is really very fitting, given her personality.
In her fish-like form, not much changes... well, other than the tail, fins, and gills. Her tail is a rich shade of blue, the exact same colour as her bright eyes. The fin on the end of her tail is snowy white, the same as her hair. Her tail matches the rest of her perfectly, and even for someone who has never seen someone like her it looks perfectly natural on her. Her hair, usually rather straight in her human form, flows freely in the current when she's under water. It often looks curly, or wavy. The gills on her neck are very easy to overlook- on her delicate neck, they are very thin and mostly unnoticeable. When she shifts, she is still small compared to the other sea-dwellers.

Serena notices little things that other people would generally overlook. Small twitches, someone's eyes flicking away for a moment, the slightest of looks in someone's eye, ect.
β¦ Soothing ||
Perhaps it's her soft spoken demeanor or her gentle appearance, but either way people generally find it very easy to relax around her.
β¦ Quick Learner ||
Serena picks up an situations and adjusts very quickly. She catches on to things easily, and once she's learned new information she never forgets it.
βPower Abilitiesβ
- β Water Manipulation ||
Like most Children of the Sea, Serena has basic water manipulation with her own twist on it. She can bend and mold water to her will, and temporarily change water currents. She can summon water from up to a kilometre away, in fairly large amounts.
β Ice ||
Her most notable, and strongest ability. She can freeze entire lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers. She can be on land and pull water from surrounding ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, or the ocean if she's close enough. Although she has never attempted this, she could coat someone in water and freeze the water. This ability is very connected with her emotions, and she can end up using this without meaning to. She fears that some day she'll end up hurting someone with this. She does her best to hide just how powerful she can be with his.

βLikesβ
- β₯ Animals ||
Wether they live on land or in the water, it doesn't matter to Serena. She adores animals of all kinds, and they seem to like her company aswell. She makes it a habit to feed the local animals, and many of them have seemed to bond with her.
β₯ Learning New Things ||
Having an intense thirst for knowledge, she is constantly looking to learn new things about the other clans, mostly. Being rather shy and not at all forward, it can be a little difficult to gain much knowledge from the other clans, but she very frequently leaves the sea to venture out.
β₯ Warmth ||
Having been burned so many times, Serena has a bad habit of isolating herself. She doesn't mean to, and really she yearns to be close to someone but is too frightened to open herself up enough to allow for it.

βPersonalityβ
At a glance, Serena is very shy and not one who would easily approach a stranger. Really, she's a little skittish. When strangers approach her, she's quick to avoid them or become increasingly uncomfortable. She's easily frightened, and seems to grow nervous when in the company of too many strangers. A lot of times she wishes to approach people, but it simply too shy. It takes her a while to slowly build up the courage to talk to someone, after a long while of quietly standing on the sidelines.
While at first Serena can be a little fearful, she warms up quickly. She's quick to try to make the other person smile, and it's easy to notice that she really is very gentle and wise. With her friends, she is very caring and always puts their needs before hers. She always puts her needs last. Her selflessness is good and bad- good for helping others, bad for helping herself. She's excellent at giving advice, and she seems to have an endless amount of knowledge. She's very humble about this fact, and is quick to deny it. Nonetheless, it is clear that she is very intelligent. She is very caring towards her loved ones, and is always looking out for their feelings. She's certainly someone to come to if you need a hug or just someone to talk to. She loves to have witty banter and tease her friends, but would never intentionally hurt any of them.
Now, Serena's knowledge didn't come from nowhere. She has an insatiable thirst for information, and will seek it out in any way she can. To be blunt, she's a bit of a nerd. She is never pushy or rude with her need for new information, and tries to go about it as gently as she can. She is very curious, and often ventures out of the ocean to satisfy this. She hates bringing too much attention to herself, especially if there is a lot of people around. She's very humble, and even though she knows a lot, she would never flaunt or brag about this.
Perhaps the saddest part of Serena's personality is his deep-seeded fear of loving because everyone that she loves ends up suffering, then leaving her. She fears that if she gets close to someone, they will slowly be dragged down by her. It's a terribly thing, viewing yourself as a weight on people's ankles. She isn't, of course, but that doesn't stop her from being so horribly critical of herself and tearing herself down whenever someone tries to build her up. She doesn't really think she's worth it, and she doesn't let anyone get close enough to her to show her that she really is such a wonderful person. She is blind to everyone else's flaws, but so terribly aware of her own. She's built up walls all around herself not to protect herself, but to protect anyone else from getting hurt by her.
βHistoryβ
Serena's past was tragic from the very start. Her parents were so madly in love, but never planned on having children. Serena was a complete accident. Her mother was so excited to have a daughter once she learned she was pregnant, although her father was always a little uncertain. But, since he loved her mother so much, he went along with it. But something went wrong when she gave birth to her daughter. The birthing was so long and painful for her poor mother. She died before she could even see her little baby girl. She suffered, then she died.
Serena's poor father was distraught, and left with a little girl that he didn't even want in the first place. Part of him always sort of blamed Serena for the death of the love of his life, and what was worse was Serena knew it and started to believe it herself. That is a heavy weight for a little girl to bear. It didn't help that Serena was (is) practically identical to her mother.
Nonetheless, her father was the only person she had. She loved him to death. But he never seemed like he was able to fully return that love that his daughter felt. He was rather harsh with her, and when he got particularly upset he would throw her mother's death in her face. It was her fault. Serena delt with this, and that didn't stop her from blindly loving her father. As a child, she grew very close with her neighbor, Kai. He was an absolute sweetheart, and adored Serena. They were inseparable, almost since birth. Nobody saw Kai without Serena, or Serena without Kai. They knew everything about each other. As they grew older, their affections for each other... shifted. They weren't just close friends. They eventually grew to be lovers. they were young, and had their whole lives ahead of them. Lives that they always knew would be spent together. They loved each other with every fiber of their being. they were always smiling, and Serena was so different than the wounded girl she is now. She was so friendly, outgoing, and she always wore a smile that could light up any room.
All too soon, tragedy struck. Kai had innocently strayed too close to a pirate's ship. They spotted him, and he didn't stand a chance. They killed him. Serena was so distraught- the boy she loved had been brutally murdered. His life was over much too soon. The whole life that him and Serena had dreamed of, was over is a second. She couldn't stop thinking about it. Poor Kai's death had not been a painless one. Much like her mother, he had suffered. Then he died. Serena cried for so long, and shut herself off from the world. The walls that she's built around her heart still stand, and those terrible wounds left on her heart haven't healed. She hasn't let anyone close enough to her to try to heal them. She doesn't want to. Even though his death had nothing to do with her, she blames herself. She blames herself for the death of her mother, and her lover. And this has destroyed her.
