Eddard, The Arcane Avenger

God of Arcane Magic, Justice, Liberty and Protection

0 · 662 views · located in The Realm of the Gods

a character in “The Gods: New Genesis”, as played by Bromander Shepard

Description

Magic is perchance the greatest and most dangerous gift we have given to mortals. I have been charged with governing it's use, to ensure it becomes a force for good. A monumental task no doubt for magic by it's very nature is wild and unruly, yet once tamed by a skilled hand it can be both a tool to build and a weapon to destroy

God Name: Eddard
Title: God of Arcane Magic, Justice, Liberty and Protection. The Crimson Knight, The Guardian of the Gods, The Arcane Avenger. Patron of Gryphons and Arcane Knights.
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
God Appearance: In his true form Eddard appears in stunningly intricate armor and at times he seems to emanate bluish white power that arcs off his body. This light is the Arcane weave and it can pour off him as his presence gives form to magic. Due to his connection and control over the magical weave to be in the same vicinity as Eddard one can feel the raw arcane power radiating off of him whether the weave is visible or not. His face is hidden beneath a golden mask, only his eyes can be seen, glowing with the iconic light of the arcane. He wraps himself in a bright crimson cloak of sorts that hang off his body regally.

Personality: Eddard is noble, honorable, just, self sacrificing and courageous. There is no evil that will give this bastion of justice pause. When all other forces cower to darkness it is Eddard who stands and fights in the face of oblivion. He is a hero of the gods and the guardian of heaven and earth. His is the force of justice and peace keeping in the world of gods and men as well as tamer of the Arcane Magic that is open to the world of mortals. His proud, resoluteness in the face of evil is only dwarfed by his capacity for kindness and good will to all life. He is a protector, a guardian an Crimson Knight.
Opinion of mortals: We Gods lord over the mortals like children with a box of toys yet they are more powerful than they know. Their potential limitless. I would have them see that potential and forge it into such a force for good that their world will attain a golden age that will last through every winter to come.
Eddard holds special favors for the just and those who seek to fight against injustice. The Order of Arcane Knights that have risen up in his name are among his most favored on earth second only the noble race of Gryphons that are an intelligent, enigmatic race of winger bird creatures that appear before those in need to defend them or save them from great peril.
God’s Domain:

Behold the realm of the Justice Bringer, Palaven. Palaven is a radiant and spectacular realm of light and golden halls. The winds of Palaven sing the song of liberty as it's cool crystal clear waters provide nourishment to the just.

Avatar Name: Kahlan Menethil
Avatar Appearance:

Personality: Kahlan is polite and well-spoken, but filled with quiet determination. Her summons to the Hall of the Gods and her appointment as Avatar to Eddard she has since learned pride, confidence and skills of command.
Magic Abilities: As avatar of the God of the Arcane Kahlan Menethil is the most powerful magic user on earth. Her ability to spell weave coupled with her seemingly limitless knowledge of spell craft has forged her into a powerhouse of magical talent. She has no physical prowess to speak of yet few who seek to do her harm would seldom get close enough to draw a knife.

Hero(es): Knight Errant Commander Kirrahe Solus

Image

Rank/Reason: Commander of the Arcane Knights of the Eddard Order. Solus rose through the ranks due to his devotion to Eddard and his relentless pursuit of Justice.
Personality: Kirrahe is no saint and he'd be the first to tell you, he is a soldier and has been for a long time. He has dedicated his life to a cause he saw as greater than himself in the hopes to help protect this world and those that live within it. His life has been one of honor, service and dedication. His tolerance for those who dabble in the dark arts is non existent. He is a spit and polish commander of the Order and runs the organization like a finely tuned machine.

Terrain Preference: Shepard Island, named for the first knight of Eddard and consequently the first Commander of the Order. Shepard Island is a reasonably sized island with one expansive city like establishment that reaches nearly every corner of the island. The weather there is usually fickle, when it rains it pours, when it snows it blizzards. Through it all the people who have carved out a living for themselves there have grown strong and resolute because of the sometimes harsh and inclement weather. On Shepard Island you will find the fabled training grounds of the Knighthood, Hackett Hall. Hackett Hall is where prospective and current knights hone their sword play skills. There is also The Tower of Samara. This is where all knights are taught and schooled in the ways of magic, how to spell weave and what spells are effective against what foe. Defense against the dark arts is a never ending battle so the knights train constantly. Finally there is the citadel itself. A massive complex of buildings and towers with five enormous spires that reach up towards the sky. This is the seat of power for the knighthood where you will find not only the office of the Commander of the Arcane Knights of the Eddard Order but also the home of Eddards Avatar. She is held in such high regard and near reverence by the order she is to be protected at all costs. While not actually being a member of the order her title as avatar puts her outside and above the ranks within the knighthood. She is akin to a queen to her knights.

Name of Kingdom/Empire: The Arcane Knights of the Eddard Order are not a country, they are not a government or a ruling force. They are a collection of gifted individuals, skilled in the use of magical and martial arts who use their talents and devotion to their chosen god to help ensure that justice is upheld and the innocents are protected. Their primary stronghold is on Shepard Island far in the north east. Yet they have four Knight Houses on the mainland, spread far apart to give the populace all over access to at least one house should they be in need. A Knight House is akin to something of Guild Hall, a home away from home for Knights stationed in a particular area. It serves as base of operations for knights in a region as well as sanctuary for those seeking refuge. Each Knight House has a port key known as a Relay. These Relay's are magical teleportation devices shaped like large semi circles. Individuals can steps into the blueish light within the Relay and instantly be transported to any of the other three houses or Shepard Island. These are used by the order to fulfill supply requests, roster changes as well as transportation of refugees.
Capital: The Citadel, Shepard Island
Major Cities: There are no holds owned by the Knighthood. Only four Knight Houses on the mainland with no land holdings but the immediate surrounding area of the building itself. There is House Aria, run by the Elven beauty Head Master Knight Lysandra Hallas. House Krios, run by the human assassin turned knight Head Master Knight Bruce Arkham. Closest to the orcish lands is House Urdnot, run by the fierce and proud half orc Head Master Knight Jerum Wreave. Finally there is House Vakarian, run by the tenacious Night Elf Head Master Knight Septimus Oraka. (I will detail what holds and peoples are in each houses surrounding area once holds get taken up)
Society: The Arcane Knights of the Eddard Order are run like a military mixed with a police force. Their duty to serve and protect trumps nearly all other endeavors. Each knight is sworn in on solemn oath before the Avatar to affirm their dedication to the Order. Knights are to be proud, loyal, courageous, self sacrificing and honorable. Understandably all knights have their own personalities yet each are taught to strive to uphold these ideals. The Arcane Knights serve two main purposes, the eradication of Dark Magic and the protection of innocents from any and all evil or criminal forces that would seek to do them harm. As a result pilgrims and refugees from war torn countries or those seeking sanctuary from criminal organizations can often be found near and around Knight Houses. Those in the greatest danger are taken to Shepard Island where they are placed in the ever caring Refugee House in place there, Zorah nar Rayya Hall. Their funds needed to run and operate such an expansive organization come from three main places. The first and most notable are the donations made by the faithful and the charitable. In every church spreading the word of Eddard and all holds who share the faith often send donations of varying degrees of money. This, while most well known, would barely cover the costs for feeding the massive force of Knights. Their true source of income is in the numerous businesses and ventures funded and owned by the knighthood. The have stakes in countless business ventures all over the known kingdoms. Finally a size able boon is collected by the knighthood through the spoils of war. When a criminal enterprise is dismantled their entire net wealth is transferred to the knighthood. All holdings the illegal venture may have held are sold off or turned over to the knighthood to be properly run in occordence with what ever laws govern that area. It is in this way the knighthood has acquired many of it's businesses. Politics unfortunately play a large part in the knighthood as individual knights are constantly jockeying for rank and station over their peers. While corruption is not tolerated back room dealings and hushed agreements of coalitions are common place as review season comes up. Every two year their is an merit review where the bulk of all the promotions and granting of rank is held and dispensed. During this time the Commander sits down with a conclave of high ranking Knights to discuss proposed promotions submitted for review by captains, Head Masters ect through out the course of the two years in question. While Headmasters, The Commander and a small group of high ranking knights do reserve the right to promote knights in the field at any time, most large promotions are done via conclave during the biannual review. Beyond the subject of promotions any large or important changes are to be tried and judged by some form of committee or third party within the knighthood. Policy and procedure are held in very high regard within the order, giving way to the notion that nothing is done within the knighthood without a full investigation and trial before a choice is made. This method, while justified, is the target of constant criticism from civilians and knights alike as it often accounts for their slowness to act to an issue that is not simply as black and white as evil vs good.
