She had finally made it! It had taken an entire month, but Abigail Fogg arrived in Port Goldengear safe- which was a stroke of pure luck. Her old boss, Samantha Himmel, should have a warrant out for her arrest by now.

Good luck finding me! Abigail thought with a smirk, thumbing a decorative hatpin beneath her threadbare cloak. Her dreams were about to come true. She headed off into the heart of Port Goldengear, looking for a store. She had heard of one not far off the main strip. Supposedly the owner asked no questions. Ever.

"Are you sure about this darling?" The schooner droned lazily as it began to approach intercepting altitude. Their target was on the ground, having escaped here from her employer. The bounty was oddly juicy, find a maid, bring her back, and you get the big bucks. Such jobs were what Blackheart was all about.

His airship dipped, weaving its way into the city where they had a bead on their target. "Never been more serious about anything in my life darling, we nip in, grab the maid, nip out. Easy job, no one dies. Easy on my conscience." With a wild grin, the airship's cock-pit howled open, Captain Blackheart standing in his seat and getting ready to jump out and plummet to the ground.

Three metal pods shot past him, sent down by his Frigate docked just outside of orbit, containing angry machinesque zombies he'd created back in the Factory. Manic with laughter, Blackheart stepped forward, falling down to the Port of Goldengear. At the last second, a cloud of Femtites surrounded him, causing his descent to slow rapidly until he was floating barely off the ground. In front of him, stood a girl who matched the visage of his bounty.

"Abigail... I presume?"

Abigail exited Silver Knuts with more than she expected, and was happy to do so! There was a lemonade stand next door she indulged in, and was planning on making her way back to that inn on the square. She had made it half way there before almost running into someone levitating before her.

Her mind began churning. How was he levitating?

"Yes," Abigail responded, peering to see if perhaps there was a backpack responsible, "How are you floating, sir?"

Blackheart pulled a flask from his inner coat pocket, taking a long swig of its contents before answering. "Robots, about a femtometre in size. It's like a nanite, but much smaller." He left the finer aspects of how they were holding him up to her imagination. Three pods slammed into the ground near him, Servitors emerging from them as they cracked open.

"I have it under good authority, that there is a bounty on your head. Bad odds, but it turns out im a Bounty Hunter, do ya know where that leaves us Dearie?" A flash of fire glowed in his hand, as he admired the black leather gloves that was suddenly wreathed in flames. "You're wanted alive, so let's not make this messy. There are many states of alive, and I doubt you want to be lobotomized..." The three robots that had landed in pods produced weapons, two advanced looking rifles in two of their hands, while one had four arms and four swords.

His AI, chirped in the Captain's ear. "Darling, there is a 98.78% statistical likeliness this is our target"

Abigail's heart skipped a beat. That witch hadn't, she thought to herself, the weight of her most recent actions crashing down on her.

"N-nanite?" She took a step backward, looking nervously to the strange things that slammed to the ground, another step as things emerged. Was it time to panic yet? A bunch of weapons were all aimed at her, and for the scheming yet still lowly ex scullery maid, it was just all too much.

Abigail Fogg fainted.

Up close, they were even more horrifying. The Servitors were haphazardly assembled corpses, powered and enhanced by necromancy and cybernetics. Sometimes a single Servitor would be comprised of hundreds of different people, muscles lined with metallic fibers or armor placed under the skin. Their only saving grace was the heavy amount of clothing they wore, making them seem almost human from far away. However Abigail was in the four arms of one of them, and up close, these things looked like they were the result of some kind of twisted mortician's morbid hobby.

Integra had already re-purchased what Abigail had pawned off in an attempt to get money for her escape. He was browsing the wares, thinking whether or not he could do anything with some of the odds and ends here, perhaps pick up something cute for Omnia. He didn't expect Abigail to run, but just in case he had placed a few nanites on her, in order to keep track of her should she attempt a hasty exit.

There were smelling salts back on board the Frigate if he needed to rouse Abigail sooner, but for now he was content to peruse the quaint little town and wait for her to regain consciousness naturally. It wouldn't be professional if she came to face to face with a Servitor and fainted again. Funny, but not professional.

Abigail awoke to find herself in the arms of a true nightmare, and fainted again.

When she woke up, again, the nightmare had remained, but the shock had worn off so instead of fainting she was still and silent in horror. What was going on? She diverted her eyes to look around the rest of the room. Memories swam back. She was in Silver Knuts, the shop she had just pawned the Ruby Robin Hat Pin to.

How much trouble was she in?

"Oh, do help!" Abigail cried out weakly to the shopkeeper, hoping somewhere in her heart that this was all a misunderstanding and perhaps these were villains. The shopkeeper simply frowned, turning his attention back to Integra. Money talked, thieves could walk.

"Darling she's awa.... Oh... Never mind." The synthesized voice of the Ship's A.I. crackled into life, from a speaker on the Servitor carrying Abigail. The start sent her right back into unconsciousness and Integra had to suppress a chuckle. "Yup, very funny, very unprofessional." He went back to perusing the wares, finally deciding to purchase a unique looking amulet, made of Emerald. Before he started to leave, however, Abigail regained consciousness and managed a few words, crying to the Shopkeep for help, as Integra placed his new Emerald Pendant around his neck.

"Where I'm from we cut the hands off thieves. Lucky for you, rest of the Universe is a bit more civilized." He raised an open, gloved palm and the Servitor set Abigail down. "You're a smart lass, don't try to run. My crew is trigger-happy." He hooked a thumb over to the other two robotic undead, each carrying a heavily modified rifle.

He started out the door of Silver Knuts, motioning for Abigail to follow. "I have a warrant for your arrest. Walk with me. Talk with me. One of two ways this goes down, and I have a strong hunch you have a preference for one over the other." He thought about it; it'd be easy enough to let Abigail go as he already had what she'd stolen, and really, no harm no foul. Plus, she didn't really fit the criminal bill, and he didn't exactly need the money. She'd better have an excellent excuse...

A small party exited Silver Knuts, but instead of emerging into Port Goldengear found total darkness. The Emerald Eye Pendant, a seemingly harmless trinket when purchased, began to emit a deafening hum. From where it hung around the neck of the pirate captain it pulsed a green glow.

Before anyone could question the circumstance, the Emerald Eye Pendant flashed. The light faded into an illusion of a cavern, an enormous door rising before them. As the door made of light grew, a face emerged carved into it. The eyes of the face suddenly burst into green fire, illuminating everything and swallowing the cavern. The light slowly sucked back into the Emerald Eye Pendant, showing snow capped mountains as it went. The last of the light formed a giant dragon, who transformed into a human before diving into the eye.

For another moment, total darkness. Again the pendant flashed, this time emitting thousands of balls of light. They shot in every direction. Each stopped, suspended in the air, slowly drifting. All together they displayed a star system far, far away. For a few more moments the beauty of night hung around them.

As quickly as the lights appeared, they disappeared back into the pendant, with them taking the mighty hum. For a moment, there was total silence.

"UNITE THE EYES"
The words echoed around them.

Slowly daytime and the rest of Port Goldengear resumed to vision around them. Any passerbys would not have seen what the group saw, but they may have heard the wind whisper a peculiar command.

Blackness, and an odd scene played about before his eyes, flashy swirling locations, and a dragon taking human form and diving into the Amulet. Then the Amulet let out thousands of lights, creating a make-shift... "I-Is that a map..? Omnia are you seeing this?" The neuralink installed in his brain relayed what he was seeing to the A.I. back on his ship, and he could hear her response echoing in his mind.

"Yes darling, if the map is up-to-date with current star-maps, which it appears to be, then it's a planet we've visited before. Quaint little rock called Terra." Integra let out a sigh of disgust, his last trip to Terra had been... eventful. "Oh great, Home to the Slumwalks, Terra? Where that crazy chick lives!?" He sent a mental note to Omnia, and she brought the main ship down to low orbit, ready to receive her Captain.

He turned back to Abigail and frowned, "Okay, welp. It looks like you get off easy this time, Ms. Fogg. Try to stay out of trouble, or I may really be back to chop off your hands, yeah? Cheers!" A schooner flew above them, controlled by the A.I. Its engine whined as it touched down on the street, and without further ado, Captain and his 'crew' stepped into it, and were off. Leaving Abigail to her fate, whatever it may be in a new city without the funds she had planned on. They returned to the Frigate, in low orbit, and prepared themselves for what came next.

"Madam! Look out the window!" In the Acklewood Forest, a stagecoach driver tried to get the attention of his client.

Meanwhile, a young thief with big dreams hadn't stopped watching the sky from Knightheart Valley ever since the moment she lost everything she had.

At the same time, the owner of a bakery would swear to himself that his day was far too long, and surely he was hallucinating.

Abigail was speechless.

In one day, in one hour, she had both gained and lost everything. Her eyes were fixed on the sky, where more of what she was sure were vessels had appeared. What was going on? Who were these people? Where did they come from?

She swallowed, hard, and decided to find somewhere to maybe schmooz someone for a meal.

Blackheart's ship would proceed to shake itself apart, and the Light Array in Irral's palm would activate, utterly obliterating the inside of the bridge with Bolts of Holy Draconian Light. From the wreckage, which by now would begin sinking to the earth below, Irral's massive wings erupted, spreading out and catching the wind. The sight was terrifyingly Awe-Inspiring, and then as quickly as they appeared they shrank, becoming more compatible with the size of Irral's human-form as he looked around to the landscape around him, looking for a suitable place to place his Transport Array to get back to Terra.

He had the other Amulet, so he wasn't worried about Blackheart opening the Door without him, that would be impossible. Turning, Irral turned his Gaze to the incoming Aschen ships, sensing their hostile intent. His body began to radiate Holy Draconian Light, and his Lance gleamed in the sunlight. If they wanted to try their luck against the Dragon of Light, they were welcome, but they'd only find their death.

Bits of the frigate began to crack and rumble, breaking apart and falling to the planet. Omnia's hologram smiled, as Blackheart's Goddess in the Machine, it was easy enough to manipulate the unstable dragon's thoughts and perception. Even easier since he'd been so thoroughly irked by the Captain's provocations.

"Pride doth goeth before a fall," she whispered to herself, watching Neumann self-replicating Nanites play out the ship crumbling and crashing to the ground through complex holograms or shaping themselves into pieces of the ship. She even allowed a few servitors to be sucked out of the ship, burning up on entry into the atmosphere. It was harder than it would have been had she been connected to more of her mega-structures, like a few dozen Dyson Swarms, but she managed.

Neumann Nanites quickly rebuilt the pieces of the Frigate that had been purposefully damaged to fool the dragon, until the ship was whole. A half-sphere of femtometre sized robots, invisible to the naked eye, floated around Irral shielding the vessel from his sight, and projecting exactly what the dragon wanted to see. All the while, Omnia and the Frigate drifted away, soon they'd warp to Terra, but not before ensuring the Aschen wouldn't open fire on them.

"Ave, Aschen Mothership," the broadcast went out on an encrypted Aschen channel, one she'd bought the cipher for not too long ago. She hoped the ship still used it, Gods knew how quickly Aschen changed their encryption. "I am an Omnicompetent Meta-Intelligent NUMA Inspired Artilect, you may call me Omnia. My vessel is currently empty of living organic life, and we are willing to comply with orders, but it is imperative we end this matter quickly as I must be going. We are an independent contractor and owe no allegiance to enemies of the Empire."

Citizens from all over below would watch the stars move rapidly around. They glimmered, they flashed, and they put on a show. Some were scared, some awed, and some wanted to know so much more.

Great pieces of debris fell, catastrophically, across Trivington Hills. News of the event hit the press immediately, papers from Abingdol Falls to Goldengear discussing what fell from the sky.

Below, citizens of Brightmaiden would see the sky brighten. In most places, everyone would look up to see the same thing: a great glowing dragon rising, high above where any airship has ever flown, so high that it’s size was seen in whole and began to shrink as it departed Pramia’s atmosphere. As it left, the skies flashed their brightest on a planetary level, light dispersed throughout the entire planet for a few instants. The shadows of the Acklewood Forest narrowed, disappeared, then swiftly returned. Knightheart Valley lit up even in the shadowiest of places.

"Last call!"

Rayner Evaristus, Professor of Metallurgy at the Cogsman University of Technology, bellowed out across the docks. A selection of students from the University, as well as some hobbyists, had signed up for the expedition to Trivington Hills. Everyone had seen the stars go wild, everyone had seen the giant winged beast, and everyone had seen something fall from the sky. As quickly as the phenomenon in the sky began, it ended.

Now, it was time to see what had fallen from the heavens. Abigail Fogg had gotten lucky. While her tuition to the University was lost, an opportunity presented itself at the docks. She was all hands on deck and ready for action! This could be the perfect segway into the education she sought, the future she dreamed.

The gangplank bobbled as the last few boarded the airship S.S. Bronze Bolt, Abigail Fogg among them. She settled herself along a railing on the deck, taking in the view of Port Goldengear from here. She hadn't been in the city long enough to truly appreciate it, but she would be back, and this time with a future for real.

Clutching the sea chest that held all her meagre belongings and everything that consisted of her profession tightly to her side, Rikki disembarked from the transport ship as quickly as she could amongst the other passengers. For the first time in quite a while, she was merely a citizen aboard ship. It didn't really help though, as the man serving as ship's doctor was a complete quack. Somehow, word had spread through to the other passengers, and even a few of the sailors, that she also was a doctor. So, of course they came to her instead, and thus she hadn't actually relaxed to the full extent. And, of course, a fair amount of her medical supplies had been depleted. That was the first thing she needed to do after reporting to the captain of the good ship Bronze Bolt.

Wending her way through the crowd, it wasn't terribly difficult to spot the Bronze Bolt, surrounded by a crowd of students in the process of boarding. Falling in behind a woman maybe slightly younger than her, Rikki marched up to the forecastle and demanded of a passing sailor, "Where is the captain? Inform your captain that the ship's doctor has arrived, but has to replenish her supplies before we disembark."
