The woman wasn't sure if she had the right to intrude, suddenly. He looked ready to sleep, though he also seemed in a rather good mood about something. This was a change, though it was rightly welcomed. The last time she'd seen him, he seemed as if he was ready to just flop on the ground and fester like a sore. Today, it was the polar opposite.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say your memory is worse than mind," she laughed, looked down at him from her position. She took the chair as it was kicked out, placing the crutch flat against the ground. "I'm Albertine Fox, if you don't remember." She said, holding out her hand for a shake, as if they were meeting again for the first time.

She shook his hand firmly, but not crushingly. There was no competition here. "Of course," she said, smiling slyly at him. She doubted he remembered, but no comment about it would leave her lips. She could not read his face, not at the second. For some reason, that skill only came about when she was on a job. Right now, he wasn't a 'target', and she was glad for it.

"Oh, this?" She asked, looking down at the crutch. "Hopefully only two more weeks. Even less if I take care of myself. But what are the chances in a city like this, ah?" She asked, leaning back in the chair and folding her legs. She didn't feel like she was being a bother. Keller looked like a man that would up and go if he didn't favor the company he was with. That put her well at ease.

"You seem much cheerier now than when I first saw you," said Fox, never one to beat around the bush. "Life's gotten better, I suspect?"

"Fate, hmm? I remember you saying something about that before. Or was it someone else?" She said, half-speaking to herself. She shifted in her seat, one hand sliding down to her pocket. "Fate..." She said again, nodding, though she digressed.

Now, Fox may have been forgetful, but the memory of that line was still held firmly in her mind. The second it popped out from his mouth, her mouth twisted into a grin, and she lifted her eyes to look directly into his own. "Well, I suppose that brings us to another point of our last conversation," she began, leaning her elbows onto the edge of the table, hands clasped. "It may not be in the way I expected, but I suppose you finally believe that little mention about change."

What a strange development. She wouldn't have expected words like that to reach her ears, especially from this man. Not that she thought that he had anything against her, it was just the fact that they were such strangers, yet such relaxed and meaningful conversations seemed to go between them with every chance they met. Of course, it was only the second time, but it had to mean something, at least.

"Likewise, Keller. It is rare to find a normal human being in a city like this, and even more rare to find one that's decent. I'm sure I've said this before, but I find myself having to repeat myself because you are really the only other normal human being I've come in contact with." She said, eyes intent. He was like an oasis in the middle of a barren desert in her eyes. "Of course, that's not the only reason I'm glad."

Albertine Fox came in, dressed in a simple black, long-sleeved shirt and a pair of baggy pants. She rubbed her arms, feeling her limbs ache. At least the crutches were gone. And the bandages. She didn't need them anymore. But from the last attack? She had a large bruise stretched across her face. Not that it mattered. Bruises faded, they did not scar. She sat next to a stranger. One who seemed to be drowning himself in beer. She ought to do the same, no?

"Always," she replied, looking over to spot the man who had spoken to her. She gave him a short smile, then plugged in her order. Beer as well. It seems whoever sent her here had put a limit to her tab. It angered her a bit, but she told herself not to mind. "What about you? Look like you've had enough. Or maybe not, if I've judged your reply correctly."

"I'm Albertine. You can call me Fox, though. It's m'last name," she said, looking at her beer that the robotic tender set down and pulling off her coat before wrapping her fingers around the bottle. "Didn't think so. That you'd only take one beer. Thought you had more." Almost looks like it. "How come Gambits?"

"Out of work? There's something we have in common, then," she said, tilting the bottle upward and drinking. "Cheap is right. Especially since all the tax seems to come back here anyway. Reparations. Upkeep. S'horrible what this place goes through," she said, turning her stool to face Edward.

"I don't mind it much. Never understood why." She remembered the ring, which was in her pocket. She still did not know what it meant. "I suppose someone I was close with got me into it." She raised a brow. "Why do you ask? Is it that strange?" She wouldn't know why. Seemed normal enough.

This made Albertine laugh, her hand flying up to cover her mouth before it was able to splurt out like a hose from her mouth. "Sound a bit paranoid, then? It's not like its going to kill you. All that 'shit'." She grinned again, rubbing her mouth of beer with her sleeve. "Maybe more a pessimist, then? Don't like the world for what it is? I'm not sure."

"Oh, oh, yes, I'd think the same thing. But you're a lot older. I suppose it gets to you more after a while." And she knew she'd seen some horrible things. Not all them were dreams, were they? Strange visions she kept getting? Gruesome deaths, blood flying, knives impaling bodies upon walls. Those couldn't have been dreams. But it felt like it. And her mind continued to try and convince her that's what they were. "It'll get to me soon, though. I know it." Why did it seem like her life as an accountant wasn't really what it was? "So what are you? Police or something?"

At the scream, Albertine pushed the bottle away, watching it shatter into pieces and liquid before it hit the ground on the opposite side. One of the robot tenders cleaned it up. Probably Dopey. "Holy shit, whats her deal?" she said angrily before tapping in another order. Lucky for Edward. He'd gotten rid of the last one already. Fast.

"If you want to stop, you really have the control to stop anytime. Lord, you're the second person I've told that. Maybe everyone has similar problems," she said, laughing. "Or all the humans, anyway. You're only the second human man I've met, as well." She listened to him talk as her next beer came, though she laughed again at the last comment. It was not his vulgarity that had her amused- it was the metaphors and the way he expressed them in his tone. She digressed, however. "Dark? Well, after you figure that one out you might have to help me. I've seen a great deal of paranormal crap going around without inviting it."

Albertine wanted to press the subject. Naturally, she was curious. What had he seen? But by the look of his eyes, it was something better left alone. "Oh, I was just kidding, but..." she tapped a nail on the glass, thinking about just what would happen if she actually did have these looked into. Or would she go to jail for it? What if she became a suspect?

"I keep finding dead people outside my window. And when I look away, then come back, they're gone. I know I'm not crazy. Someone else saw it, too. Police wouldn't believe it, though."

"Strangers. I hardly know anyone here other than the people who live next door. They haven't been touched, as far as I know. And they look...dead. Blank faced. Not moving. Actually, I left something out. They're being hung from the roof. I'm on the third floor of an apartment." she said, now taking a very large swig of her beer. "The first time I heard a tapping at my window. Thought it was a bird. Woke up, saw some man hung from the ceiling, then screamed. Ran to my landlady, but when we went back- nothing. Nothing at all." It was the most horrifying thing she'd ever seen.

"Before that I had dreams. Strange dreams. About people being killed. Wasn't too sure why. I don't watch horror movies, and I don't play video games. I'm an accountant. I live a very unexciting life."

"I'm human. But don't you notice? There aren't a lot of them around here. I'm half Chinese. Grown up in the U.S, though." That was, honestly, all she knew about her life on earth. She knew, for some odd reason, she could not go back. She also knew someone paid for her bills. Until lately, anyway. The other day the landlady asked for rent. She usually told her thank you for paying when Albertine didn't. Maybe something expired. She looked to Edward, grinning. "You say a burial ground? That's not...comforting."

"Are you sure it's a haunting? You know, ghosts? How many people you think kill themselves in one place by hanging? I see someone different all the time. Men, women...no children, funnily enough. And..." she faded off. "One of them was a monster. I don't know what it was, really...like a...something completely black and made out of shadow. Furry, I think. Looked half like a dog." She knew about werewolves but...that wasn't one, was it? Why would that be there after alt he people she had seen?

"I'm sorry. Maybe I should really start medications...or move." Did she have enough money for that? Where she was seemed cheap enough. Comfy. Well, mostly...

"So you think...it's real people? Right at the time? Not people who died a while ago? Maybe something is doing it to them or...or...some...one? Wouldn't that mean I'm in danger? If its an entity..." she shivered. "Then...maybe I should move out. What are you talking about, then? The dogman? What's that?" she asked, looking at the necklace. The stone. What was that? Why did he bring it out?

"I don't know. I've never gotten too good a look at any of them. I know what gender they are, vaguely what they're wearing. Sometimes...I just fall back asleep. It happens so much now."

"Good idea. Looks like I'll have to find another place. Very soon, too." Maybe tonight. She wasn't sure about rent, but hell. If it got her out of there it was worth it. "So that shows you people getting hung? Well, don't we have more in common than I thought? Thank you, Mister Carnby. I really appreciate it. However, I must go. Work in the morning. Maybe I can force myself to sleep past the bodies this time, ah?" she said, smiling and moving to take his hand for a firm shake before slipping back on her jacket and starting toward the door.

"Jesus, you think working for a small company wouldn't be so tiring..." came the murmurs of probably the most normal woman in the multiverse. Albertine Fox, receptionist for an small unknown company. Asian descent, that was for sure, with a slight figure and short, bobbed hair. Simple clothing; baggy black pants and a tight blue shirt. She was taking off a pair of black-rimmed glasses as she came in, spotting only two people.

"Good. No freaks tonight."

As some strange, crazed man came into the bar, Fox could do nothing but stare. He had an...eggbeater. And a video game. And they were taped together. "The hell," she stated blandly. She had seen some pretty strange things in the multiverse. This? Out of the demons and freaks and magic wand waving and lazer-katana's she'd seen?
Was the weirdest.

Briefly, she took notice of the more normal two on the side. She appreciated the sight. Two very normal humans. No special abilities that she could see. Just two ol' people.

What a sight it was.
