Of course, Albertine didn't feel the least bit worried. Why? Because she'd never found herself worried before, and she couldn't tell why. Even in the presence of monsters, gunmen, snakemen...yup. She was completely fine. Just until she got injured.
She would have gladly filled in another order for him, but that was a rude thing to do amongst near-strangers. It somewhat demoted the company, and Fox wasn't out for doing that. "Well, we'll see before the end of the day, Templewick. I'm not a particularly 'huggy' person, but maybe I'd make an exception."

At the mention of a ring, Albertine slitted her eyes and slid the object in her pocket. That was no one's business but her own and who she cared to share it with!

"Alright, alright," she said, tapping her fingers on the table. "All in time, then." Her grin came after having vanished for a second. She could feel the ring laying against her leg in the pocket, and it didn't do well to ease her mood, though the snakeman seemed to be doing a pleasant job at it. "The origin? You really think that'd help?" She asked, biting her bottom lip.

"Well, I know where I'm from. I used to live on earth, and I have a few memories of this street, but...nothing else, really. I have so much knowledge that just comes to me when I'm doing something. Need to shoot a gun? I can do that, load several types of weapons I've never seen before. Sneak around, get into a facility? Track someone? Yes, yes, and yes. And I don't even know how I do it. It just comes to me." She told him, shaking her head. "I dunno...maybe it doesn't even matter. I should just over myself and start doing stuff."

There was something very interesting about watching Templewick eat. The way he just stuffed a whole wing in his mouth and it'd just disappear without so much as a swallow. She stared for a while, but turned her head out of politeness. God damn, but she still wanted to watch out of a strange fascination.

"No, no, it's not a problem, really! I was just...ah...it's my fault for staring, go ahead and keep eating, I'm sorry." She hastily said, waving her hands in front of her somewhat hastily. "It doesn't bother me." She added. His snakishness was nothing to her. Not after everything she'd seen here. And that had been plenty.

"...it really does bother you, doesn't it?" She asked, placing her arms on the table, trying to look the snakeman right in the eye.

Albertine's stare was not harsh, nor was it mocking. All the inquisitiveness had melted away, and it left her with a tender, slant-eyed look. "Well, look on the bright side, Templewick. You aren't some cantankerous dumb animal that just attacks what it will. From what you've told me, you can control yourself most of the time. You're quite an interesting chap, I think. You should try to relax a bit more."

Fox's head shot back in laughter at this, her arms crossed as she then degraded to snickers. "Don't be looking at me, then, though I have a feeling like you really aren't." Was it possible that she had caught onto him? Maybe, but it wasn't apparent. She laughed again, in time with his chuckle. She wanted to add something, but shook her head to herself. No, no. She couldn't.

Albertine was in a phone booth. How there were still phone booth's here, she couldn't tell, but it was Wing City, after all. She wasn't surprised. In her hand was the ring and a cell phone. It was fairly new, the phone model. State of the art. Not that it mattered. What caught her attention was the words that were displayed across the screen.

"I know why."

Her eyes never left the screen, and she scarcely blinked. There was going to be a call. She didn't know when, or how she knew. She simply knew there would be one. She waited for it, the rain tapping on the roof of the phone booth. She leaned against the side, her crutches against the door. She swept her hair back. "Come on, come on," she whispered to herself, trying to will the phone to alert. As if such a thing would happen. But then again, it was Wi-

The screen lit up, then began to sound off, a soft jingle of bells echoing through the small, broken booth. Nearly dropping the phone in her surprise, scrambling to get it into one hand and press the "Send" button, Fox shakily brought it up to her ear. "...hello?"
"Yes? Ta- I mean...Albertine? That's you, right?" Came a deep, baritone voice. It was decidedly male.
"Yes, I'm Albertine." Said the woman, her hands barely able to keep a grip on the phone they were shaking at such an extreme.
"Good God...alright, alright, I can't speak very long, but I can answer a few questions...um..."
"Who are you?"
"Wh-what?"
"Who am I speaking to?"
"Ah, that...that's right, you probably don't remember. Ah, I can't give out my name right now, but about your husband..."
"So he's my husband?"
"Yes, yes! And he's-"
"Still alive?"
"..."
"Hello?"
"Yes. He is...and he's not doing well. But I have to-" There was static on the other end.
"Hello? Hello!" Cried Albertine, trying to get through. "Who are you! What's happening to me? Come back! Come back!" She cried, beating her fist against the side of the booth. The line went dead.
"God...dammit!"

And into the bar for the third time that week, still not healed at all and still on crutches, was Albertine Fox. The rhythmic 'thump, pat, thump, pat' of her crutches and lone, well foot filled the bar. Sooner or later, the Asian woman made it to the counter, leaning her crutches to the side. It was evident that she'd gone through some heavy ordeals lately. Though her clothing, consisting of a long sleeved, black shirt and a pair of worn jeans, covered most of her injuries, the purple bruise on the side of her face was there for everyone to see. She couldn't do a thing to hide it.
"Well, Al, it seems we've hit another dead end. One answer that just brought up ten more questions," she said to herself, bringing the ring from her pocket to examine it. So she did have a husband, hm? She did.

It was certainly true, what Stryfe said. Albertine made sure to carry her own defense in her jacket. It was a simple, semi-automatic pistol, but with her abilities it worked out well. She looked back to examine Stryfe and her mercenary group. That was different. She hadn't encountered those guys at all here. New gang, she suspected. They came and they went.

Without much of a blink, she ordered something on the menu. Nothing she couldn't handle; a simple whiskey was all. She kept one eye on the leader. At least, who she suspected was the leader. It barely looked as if she was doing that much.

At Sang's sudden statement, she stiffened. "And what might you mean about that?" She asked him.

Hearing this, Albertine really couldn't do much but laugh into her cup. Sniff? Is that really what the woman came in for, now? What with all that grand appearance and looking mighty powerful...and she wanted that?
It struck the assassin as funny.

"How would you call it awkward? It's rare enough just to see another human being, and look where we are...in the midst of humans. In Gambits. God, you know how rare that is? And here I was thinkin' the Rapture had taken them all away."

...here she was. Calling them ruffians? The woman wouldn't know one if it bit her in the ass. She joined them, however, drawn by the flame of conversation. It was only minorly difficult to use one crutch to just sail over with her drink in her opposite hand. She'd had lots of practice, after all. "No Asians? Heh. Sounds awful funny to me. Not like I know how many Asians lived back wherever I lived. This is a whole new planet, of course." She looked up to Stryfe, nodding. "Good to know we're all not racist, at least. Not sure about blondie, though."

Albertine really, really, honestly did not remember if she was from America or not. Or the U.K. She didn't seem to have an accent. Not one that anyone had called her out for. The man on the other line the day before...did he sound American?
God. She just didn't know.

"Really, ah? I can't tell if you're joking or...well, if you are, I'd ask why. Not sure if it's my place." Said the assassin, feeling her gun pad against her bruised ribs. Not the best time to be amongst some of the most deadly...ah.
They didn't look deadly. Honestly. They really didn't. They didn't even look serious.

"Strangest bunch of people..."

She had to smirk. That man probably didn't even understand the extent of which the gesture held true. Not him shooting her, of course, but pertaining to her job. If they got into an actual fight, which she hoped not to, at this point, she was sure she could draw her gun before he drew his katana.
That wasn't going to happen, though. Naw.

"So that's who you all are? The Invictus?" She asked. Ah, information. It was good. She'd probably forget it soon, anyway.

Albertine wished desperately to say something about all Caucasians looking the same (and, in some cases, there really was no difference, and it happened in all races) but she digressed, sipping her whiskey instead. She never really saw race. It wasn't the first thing that popped into her head when she took note of another person.

She wanted to comment on the 'only true chink' piece, but didn't. Again, and always, she just didn't know. "Just you and Stryfe? None of these others?" She asked, gesturing to the other mercenaries.

And I'm an assassin. I must be the best out of the bunch, Albertine thought to herself, smiling in the act. She didn't know what LDA was. She probably did in the past and forgot. Oh, damn that forgetting. Damn it to hell.

"They look pretty decent for terrorists." And you look rather unrefined for trying to speak for yourself.

"I got beat by a damn god, and that's the only thing that could do this much damage," she argued, though really she was smiling. It was funny to her. "I wouldn't smite my pride this much with crutches if I didn't need them. Alas, I have no choice."

There was something about her that was horribly adverse to the drugs. She didn't exactly mind them taking it around her, but for all the drugs she didn't know were already floating around in her body to mess with her neural passages, it was obvious it had something to do with the adversity.
"I'd like to see you try one of these days, miss, but really, now. Do it while you're at top shape. I wouldn't mind a little duel."

The assassin looked at Ixu Shen for a brief moment, milling over just why she was so concerned about them killing or hunting her when they'd been so absorbed in their own business. Of course, Fox's gun was hidden, but this 'reeking of the dead' thing was a bit creepy.
Did she smell the same way? She hadn't killed anyone yet.
She thought.

She watched Marlene grab Sang very suddenly and draw him close. At once, Fox was wondering if she was going to see a little action, but it didn't look that way at all.
Just what was happening?

"As if I'd know," she said, though she guessed it was more of a rhetorical question. Or just one she knew the answer to already. The woman looked ridiculous, like that. Albertine was glad she hadn't been putting herself in such a position. Innocent little girl? Hardly. It had a lot to do with her company. One that possibly plotted to kill the denizens of Wing City.
Not really. She made that up.

Walking down that same street was the very woman that Jason had been meaning to see. She'd gotten out of the hospital, and also gotten off from her crutches. She barely limped, doing so only because she hadn't been using that very foot for a while. The muscles were weak. As she walked, she noticed that very man, then stopped to take him by the arm.

"Jason, hey." She said, smiling brightly.
