Arrow Flight walked into the bar after a moment's pause outside the establishment to glance at the sign above the door. 'Gambit's Bar' - this was definitely the place. The woman he had stopped to ask for directions to a local place of gathering had matter-of-factly informed him that this was the only place that any significant gathering (or at least the gathering he was looking for) ever occurred.

Once inside, this became apparent. All forms of creature seemed represented in the bar in one form or another, including many Arrow had thought confined to fairy-tale, or would have been on the opposite side of the battlefield to most days of the week. But here they all mingled, in as peaceful a way as could be expected from such a place. I.e., not very peaceful at all, but not out-and-out war.

The archer made his way towards the counter, casting his eyes about with interest to take in the diverse patronage. The bartender greeted him with a nod of her head, and her pretty blonde hair.

"A simple ale, please."

Arrow Flight smiled to the tender as she bustled about preparing his drink in a practised manner - she had obviously been in the business for a long time. "So, miss - a lively establishment you keep, I see."

The woman cast a wry glance at him and chuckled. "Ye could call it that, aye. If ye were feelin' particularly like understatin' it." she replied, drawing him out a pint.

Arrow smirked, raising an eyebrow. "That bad, eh? Well, I suppose that's only to be expected in such an odd city. Odd people, lively atmosphere. Quite charming, really. Might I ask your name, miss? I am Arrow, Arrow Flight."

Sliding the drink to him, the blonde tender suppressed a snicker. "That be an odd name if ever I 'eard one. I'm Harriet, nice to meet ye. And if ye be thinking o' making a pass at me, I would ill advise it - last who tried regretted it." she replied, folding her arms.

The archer shook his head, "Wouldn't dream of it, my dear. You aren't my type really, alas."

Harriet raised an eyebrow. "That so?" she muttered.

Arrow Flight took a sip of his ale, smiling at Harriet once again. "Do not take offence, miss Harriet, goodness no; I meant none. I simply do not enjoy the company of women in such a way, you gather what I mean?" he said, chuckling.

Harriet blinked, before nodding "Ahh, a'right. Well then, I take back me indignant 'That so' then!" the plump woman replied, laughing. "I'm normally good at guessin' that, but I suppose it has only been around five minutes since we met eh?"

Nodding, Arrow smirked. "That it has, that it has. I would have been impressed had you been able to tell simply from the tone of my 'hello'." he noted.

Harriet scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Aye, aye. Speakin' of earlier conversation though, might I ask. Arrow Flight ain't y' real name is it? Ye parents were right bastards if that were the case, if you'll beg me pardon." -c-

Arrow Flight laughed, shaking his head and shifting in his seat. "No, no. It is not my real name - but I am not in the habit of giving out my real name. 'tis I who am the bastard, you see - for my father placed a cuckold's horn upon the door of another, and I was the result - pardon my olde English. I take this name so as not to associate myself with either parent, neither of which desired my presence."

Arrow Flight took another gulp of his ale as Harriet began to go on about the importance of good parenting, and rose a hand to cut her off as politely as possible. "Ah, but you see miss Harriet, I received perfectly good parenting from my fellows at th-"

Arrow's sentence was cut off as his leg was violently yanked downwards, pulling him off of his stool and onto the ground - not in the collapsing manner in which Crepa intended, but rather simply off of his stool and onto his feet. The archer blinked down at Crepa, bemused.

"Uh... can I help you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at the woman.

Harriet leaned over the counter and rolled her eyes. "Oi, Crepa, leave off! No eating the newcomers!" she chided, her motherly command strong in her voice - this was a woman who told grown soldiers to clean up their own plates and pay for damaged tables, and more to the point, they did. "Come on, be off with ye!"

Arrow glanced at the woman, confused. "...eat?"

Arrow Flight stared rather confusedly at the curled up woman, blinking at her words. "...what in the..?" he murmured.

Harriet rolled her eyes, tutting. "Don't you worry about her, a'right? She and 'er lot are the resident cannibals. Aye, cannibals." the woman affirmed at Arrow's shocked expression. "As long as ye keep an eye on 'er and tell 'er off when needs be, she'll usually back off. It's the idiots she tends to go for."

Arrow nodded slowly. "Riight..." he murmured, extracting his leg from the vicinity of Crepa, and shuffling along to a stool a few metres away. The youth turned to smile at Tatsuma, "Don't worry yourself, little one, I am well. I applaud your bravery, though, it takes great courage to stand up to that which gives you fear." he said, inclining his head.

Harriet turned to glare at Maelik "Nay, no free beer!" she asserted just as loudly. "Who even gave ye permission to serve 'ere? I be head bartender, an' head o' staff, and I don't remember hirin' ye!"

Arrow Flight , reliably, fell to the floor. This did not amuse. "Oh, go away you silly woman." he snapped, pulling himself to his feet rather swiftly and forcefully. "I have no mind to amuse you and your 'let's make the man fall over' games."

Harriet placed her hands on her hips. "Ye ain't staff, lad, so I be the only staff out 'ere at the moment. And if ye plan on buying everyone a round, that be on y' own wallet, and feel free - but ye ain't a bartender unless I hire ye as a bartender." she asserted authoritatively.

Arrow Flight let out an exasperated sigh. "I'm sure she will!" he exclaimed, "But she shan't eat Arrow, so you might as well sod off! Go find someone you can eat without a can opener!"

The archer huffed, and took a gulp of his ale, that had thankfully been resting on the counter at the time of his fall.

Harriet sighed, turning from the man and reaching into a drawer, before pulling out a handful of sheets of paper, which she shoved at Maelik. "Here, fill this application form in." she instructed, "Sign your name on all the waivers, especially the one stating that we as an employer are not at all responsible if you are killed, maimed, gutted, quartered, crippled, roasted, eaten, hung, or banished into a hellish realm of unknown horrors and doom, from a legal standpoint, but we will pay your medical bill. Bring that back to me filled out, and you can start from as early as tomorrow. Not tonight though."

Arrow Flight raised his eyebrow at Crepa's behaviour, and exchanged a wry glance with the bartender, who sighed.

Turning to Crepa, Harriet folded her arms. "Well, Crepa, what do ye want me to do about that, hm? I don't keep human bodies in me storage room, oddly enough. I'm sure if ye go out o' the bar you'll find plenty o' hapless citizens to eat; not that I be encouraging ye, but what I cannae see, I cannae complain about."

Harriet did not take Crepa's hug, for she suspected that there would be biting involved in it. Glancing at Maelik's bag of hold, the woman blinked. "A damn sight more than most people 'ave in 'alf a year." she noted, blinking. That was a lot of gold.

Arrow Flight walked his way over to where Tatsuma knelt, and crouched down beside him. "What is the matter, little one? Are you quite well? Is there something wrong with your chest?" he inquired, concerned for the well-being of the child.

Arrow Flight returned the youth's smile, ruffling his hair as he too stood. "I thank you for your concern, little one, but truly it was nothing I could not handle - even without miss Harriet's gracious assistance; she knows the woman, I did not." he said, chuckling. "Quite an odd creature, really. Alas, I apologise, I must depart myself. But do look me up, should you wish it, my name is Arrow, Arrow Flight."

With that, the archer departed the bar into the night. Harriet continued to tend the bar, though with inexplicably less personality. Almost like her writer had gone to bed. Wait, what?

Arrow Flight wandered into the bar, seemingly bored and aimless. The archer cast his eyes about curiously, taking in the arrayed patrons with an amused smile. As nonsensical and calamitous as the previous night, it would seem. Walking his way to the counter, the young man sat and ordered an ale. The bartender he had met before, Harriet, wasn't serving at present, it seemed.

Arrow Flight entered the bar a few steps behind Dallas, inadvertently shadowing her on the way to the counter as he made his own way there. The youth sat himself on a stool several seats down from the woman, barely noting her presence, and looked to the bartender.

"A simple ale, please." he requested, offering the man a smile as he turned to observe the room.

Arrow Flight noticed Dallas' eyes fall upon him, and he tilted his head in her direction politely, raising his mug in greeting. The archer didn't speak however, allowing the woman the leisure of deciding whether to engage in conversation or not.

Arrow Flight strolled into the bar nonchalantly, whistling quietly to himself as he went. The archer yawned, glancing around the bar with curiosity. His eyes lingered on a few groups, including that of Whisper, and that of Briena - but he made no approach to them, offering only a polite nod and a smile should they meet his eye.

Sitting himself on a stool, Arrow leant forwards on one arm, and smiled to the tender. "Too early in the day for a beer, I'll have a cup of tea."

Arrow Flight glanced up from the counter, detecting Whisper's approach on the edge of his hearing, and turned to face her. The archer smiled, "Good day, miss." he said, inclining his head once more.

"Is there something I can help you with?"

Arrow Flight chuckled, shaking his head. "Not at all miss, I have barely any idea why I'm even here." he replied with a smirk. "I hardly know anyone, and indeed, it is far too early in the day to be getting drunk."

As the bartender delivered his tea, Arrow nodded to him and flicked over a few coins. Glancing to Whisper, the archer tilted his head slightly in question, "Can I get you anything?"

Arrow Flight nodded, indicating to the bartender that he should fetch another cup. In the meantime, the archer took a sip of his own. "Perhaps we should exchange introductions? My name is Arrow - Arrow Flight. It's not my real name, but I am not in the habit of revealing my true name. I am an archer by skill, adventurer by trade. Might I ask your name?"

Little was Arrow to know that Whisper could probably glean his true name from his thoughts; but that was no real disaster. "And are you alright? You seem distressed, if I might be so bold."

Arrow Flight extended a hand for the girl to shake, "It is a pleasure to meet you Whisper, I know what you mean, haha. Having only recently arrived here, I am well aware of how overwhelming this place can seem." he said, chuckling.

Arrow Flight chuckled, thinking back with a grin "Well, there's a question. Any that lend themselves to my participation really, I've been involved in crusades, epic journeys, impossible sieges and battles against dark gods. Sometimes on the edge, sometimes smack in the middle. I often wonder how it happens!" he said, "Life has been settling down a touch lately, but I find myself missing having a quest of some sort; I enjoy danger far too much for my own health!"
