Spells/Powers
Dawn’s Blade Those who are of pure heart and intents true for the world will find that the sword matches them perfectly. Once in proper hands, the sword erupts from the blade into a dazzling inferno that radiates divine glory for its new master. With a distinct set of enchantments, the sword will never leave its new master unless commanded too and will always be at its master side when it is called upon. If in a combative situation the sword's true powers take effect but only in direct sunlight as the wielder of Caledfwych will suddenly find himself reinforced with an armor of light leather or shinning steel plate armor. The appearance of the blade usually depends on the master of Caledfwych but if nothing comes to mind the blade will normally take on the appearance of a long sword of masterwork design and bare the image of a golden sun and several red opals.

Midday’s Curse To those who do not claim to be fighting for either the light or the darkness Bigsby grants his ultimate boon. Caledfwych grants the barred of its name a weapon more suited for leadership in all forms and ways. The blade takes on a somber look that only hides the fact that from the darkness light is born. The blade takes on the effect of being a mercurial weapon-making every swing feel heavy against the shields and armor of those who it is being used against but not to the wielder who feels as if they are using a sword that is as light as a feather. This blade does not supply the master with a magical boon of armor but instead grants the ability to step in and out of the shadows as if every dark path was a doorway to a brighter tomorrow. The blade itself will take on an appearance of a rapier with an adamant blade and a dark blue sapphire that seems to swirl with a shadowy figure deep within.

Dusk’s Cut For those that have allowed darkness to fill their hearts and claim their souls Caledfwych can be both a blessing and a curse. It is no longer a blade once it meets the wielder's grip but a spear that seems to radiate darkness akin to what most would consider being the great evil of this world. It is always hungry for the blood of its master's enemies. Due to this sometimes if the master is not of strong will they might fall prey to depraved acts such as murder and other crimes against humanity if the spear's will is not sated. Each day if the master does not kill someone Caledfwych might turn on them and try to take their life. The boon that it grants, however, is an almost unheard-of amount of knowledge that it grants it master in the arts of necromancy and divination. Besides that, if the Master of the weapon touches a corpse there is a chance that the dead will rise from their graves and become part of the undead menace that haunts parts of the multiverse.

Soulless Abound Caledfwich is by no means a weapon most would consider good, especially if they knew who created it, but it does try to offer a hand for those who are in desperate need of help and do not want to die on the spot. If its master wishes to live through a fight and things are looking bad they only need to ask Caledfwych to take part in their soul as payment in order to lend a much greater hand. When this exchange happens Caledfwych takes on the form of a human being surrounded in armor and radiating power. The now human-looking weapon can create multiple types of swords, axes, blades, and firearms from its own body and is able to stay in this form indefinitely until the day its master dies or wishes to pass on the weapon to someone else.

So begins...

All was quiet within the establishment known as Gambit's Bar and everything was in its proper place except for a sword that was planted firmly into the bar counter of the bar itself. The magnificent sword whose dark metal blade that was bound by leather and encrusted with a few gems of onyx and rubies only seemed to hide the fact that it was something more than what it appeared to be.

There, sitting firmly planted into the bar, still was the same old magnificently crafted sword that continued to sit quietly with pommel facing towards the doors of Gambit's Bar. Many if they where to look at it might wonder who forged such a blade to such masterful perfect while others might have been wondering as to why someone would lodge a sword into the bar counter, or even how they did this.

The sword was not at all strange at all and if it was sentient, this of course is not saying that it isn't, then maybe it would give this woman a wag of the finger or possible a tip of the hat for noticing it. The sword just continued to sit firmly planted within the bar counter itself as it had all the time in the world to wait around looking like a boss.

So it seemed that the bar counter is where the sword would continue to rest but it was hopeful that with the ever increasing number of bodies filling the establishment that in due time it would find a master worthy to wield it, for either cause or ideal. The dark blade took this time to collect itself and ponder the possibility as to what it would be like to be part of a society of walking and talking things but quickly decided that the thought it had just had was a rather stupid one.

As Rift took hold of the hilt of the sword he would find that the blade of the weapon was firmly planted deep into the counter. Sense a physical connection had been made a presence would be felt throughout the bar and Rift would begin to feel a strange weight being placed upon his shoulders. 'Take the sword.' A voice would whisper into the mans ear. 'Take it and be who you are meant to be. Play the Hero or Villain it matters not but your part in this play is something you cannot pass up so lightly.'

Caledfwych gleamed a bit as the flames died down just to suddenly grow heavier at the base of the guard. 'Why is a rather weak question. For those who have need of true rulers the sword has always been raised up for the glory of defending ones own home or for taking what they believe rightfully belongs to them.' The voice whispered its response just as the sword began to feel much lighter in Rift's own hands. 'Tell me hero. What is it that you seek?'

'Inquisitive I see, just like my former master.' The sword retorted a response back only to remain silent for a time being. 'I was created to serve as a protector to those who are able to wield my awesome power. All I ask for in return is to be free from my tomb that is known as Gambit's Bar.' The sword whispered once again.

A sword found its home once again stuck within the woodwork of the counter of Gambit's Bar only to call out to all that could lay eyes upon it. Who would be willing to pull the sword from the bar counter?

As the young man drew closer to the sword a small humming could be heard resonating from the hilt of the weapon. 'Take the sword.' A whisper filled the young mans ear as he contemplated stealing the weapon. 'Take it away from this place.'

The weapon began to hum even louder as the young man drew closer and so did the voices that whispered in his ear. 'Free us and forever be rewarded.'

The sword began to die down and the whispers seemed to go with it. The sword remained silent now as if watching the young man with intent filled eyes, if it had eyes that is.

The sword would remain sitting and waiting for another to come by to free it if that is what it took. It was a rather exquisite looking blade fit for any knight or random hero in an era of technological know how and savvy swordsmen.

The sword would suddenly come to life as it knew it was irresistible and very appealing to the eye. 'Pull us free and you shall be rewarded hero.' The blade whispered to the young man. Several arcane barriers would make themselves known however as the magical circles filled the establishment and an eerie hum could be heard.

The barriers that had made themselves present would appear to crumble a bit as layer upon layer of arcane power were being striped away as the young man began to use all of his effort to remove the weapon from the bar. 'Harder! Quickly! Free us and be rewarded!' The whisper turned into an almost shrill scream as the bar began to shine brightly due to the arcane seals being broken.

There it sat in some kind of clearing on a bright day. A sword in a stone with a young man sitting next to it under the shade of an apple tree sleeping his cares away and waiting for those who would imagine themselves worthy enough to test their mettle for the artifact entrapped in stone. The young man checked his pocket and produced a rather strange watch only to grimace at what he saw and then confirmed his fears by looking at the skyline.

"Another challenger another day." The young man muttered as he then looked back over at the blade stuck in the stone. "Soon I promise you." He uttered those words and then went back to glance at the distance only to catch an apple as it fell from the tree above him and began to eat at it greedily.

The small airship traveled low over the land, lower than most would fly and slower as well. It's size and shape did not suit it as a passenger craft, and it was obviously not of a military design. It was a private vessel owned by one Professor Thaddeus Morgan Crane and crewed by some rudimentary clockworks that got the job done and could handle the craft in most kinds of weather. At the moment the craft was travelling low over the forest, most of the passengers were on the deck, either enjoying the sun or in the case of the Professor, gazing over the side through scrying lenses in search of anything of use in his studies, anything that might bring him closer to his ultimate goal.

While he did spy something in a clearing below, he was of little faith that it was of the origins he sought, however, its aura was so strong that there was no reason not to investigate and he signaled for the ship to descend to the clearing so that he may inspect his find.

The young warrior brought his hands over his eyes as to block the suns rays from his gaze so that he could see the flying contraption on the sky before it. It was a strange thing and even stranger was the sight of mechanical powers propelling the thing forward and something else. Slowly the young warrior would rise up from his comfortable spot and toss aside his apple only to then cross his arms and lean up against the old apple tree he had claimed his rest under just to wait and see what or whom would come forth from the flying contraption that came from afar.

The sword that remained in the stone did nothing but continue to look dull and unassuming for the most part while the young warrior stood near. It was only when the defender of the sword looked back at the lodged weapon did it seem to shine slightly in the light of the slowly slumbering sun.

Once the craft was low enough over the clearing a set of stairs unfolded from the bottom of it and an older gentlemen stepped down from them, using an umbrella as a cane, though in the way a man of standing would carry one, rather than as a man who needed it.

Following behind him was a hunched being shrouded in a dark cloak and a young, athletic elven woman who was in the midst of brushing her dark hair back from her face as the Professor approached the sword and its earthen resting place. Of course whether he made it that far was up to the young warrior standing guard that the at times easily fixated Professor had failed to notice.
