Captain Thunder

The dread pirate Captain Thunder, scourge of the starry sea. At least that's what she'd like everyone to think.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by fish-with-a-knife

Description

Captain Yuui Curai Thundra

Aliases: Captain Thunder, Doctor Thundra, Yuu-yuu Thundergirl

Physical Description: A female diflaecan with platinum hair, and the usual thin frame and pale green skin, and gossamer dragonfly-like wings common to her species. Thunder is an average height for the females of her species, standing at about 1.6 meters (about 5'2"). She is fine featured, and has the appearance of being very fragile, if not for the cocky manner in which she carries herself. She favors clothing that "looks cool" with high boots and long jackets, though she often wears a flight suit, for practicality. She wears an eyepatch as well, but she has two good eyes, though the eyepatch does serve a purpose aside from making her look a little more "piratey".
Species: Diflaecan. The diflaecan species is somewhat fragile, with a light bone structure and a high metabolism, both needed for flight. While superficially they are humanoid, their internal anatomy differs greatly, with five hearts, and a high content of chlorophyll, making their blood a vibrant green. Coloration tends toward pale greens and blues, though shades of gold in hair and eyes are not uncommon. Culture-wise, diflaecans are matriarchal, and tend to focus on appearances. They are technologically advanced, with focuses in space travel, and starship development.

Personality: Though Thunder is highly intelligent, she prefers to act arrogant and eccentric. She lies often, making up stories of daring exploits, and pretending that she has always been a dread pirate. Despite her swagger, she is careful in planning, and not naive enough to trust just anyone. Past the front she puts up, she can be kind and generous, and even vulnerable and hopeful for companionship. She has a strong sense of justice, and is a hopeless romantic at heart, making her a somewhat complex woman.

Equipment: Thunder carries a small plasma pistol on her at all times, as well as a cutlass. The pistol is meant for drawn-out fights, though it is lower in stopping power, it is highly accurate even at a moderate distance. The cutlass is high-carbon steel and laser-sharpened, but has never seen use in battle. In addition to weapons, Thunder has an eyepatch that is directly linked to her ship, and contains a camera as well as a video recorder. The eyepatch can be used to communicate with the Escape Artist, and is usually used for just this purpose. She also carries small flashbang pellets, which are not as powerful as grenades, but usually are good enough in a pinch. She also carries duct tape, several hair pins, a chemical heat packet, three chemlights, and a small ball of carbon thread.
Ship: ATS-34790, or The Escape Artist, as Thunder named it, was a unique prototype, that was specialized for ship to ship combat. The ship itself is sleek and sharklike in shape, painted in a metallic gold. It features static field shielding, with a faraday cage that redirects most energy attacks to the shielding's power, as well as ball-joint thrusters for high maneuverability. The Escape Artist's AI is designed specifically for calculating the ships own movements, both in combat and when using jump-space capabilities. It is equipped with four heavy blaster cannons, two plasma slug cannons, eight slug autocannons, and one light railgun. The AI has limited decision-making capabilities, however it is unable to comprehend morality, and will always choose to preserve the programmed crew above all else [which means Thunder]. The Escape Artist has room for a crew of ten, along with reasonable cargo, and comfortable living quarters. It is classified as an attack craft, with fighter maneuverability.

History: Like many, Yuui Thundra was the only daughter to loving parents, born on Diflaeca Prime. She attended private schools, eventually attending prestigious colleges, and graduating at the top of her class, specializing in artificial intelligence and astrophysics. She was considered a genius among peers, if a touch eccentric due to her love of romantic fantasy novels. Soon enough, Thundra was hired by the Diflaecan Empire in weapons development where she spent a few years working on the ATS-34790 prototype. The ship was meant to be the peak in space travel both in long and short distance, seeking to outclass Dogenphlo mobile suits, and Stelanian armored attack craft. Over the course of the project, Thundra grew cold and distant from the others on her team, even those she had been close friends with before her government employment. While this was a mystery to others, the reason was the war atrocities that the Diflaecan Empire was committing under the claim of "bringing peace to the galaxy". Thundra couldn't stand the thought of her work being used to oppress races that couldn't defend themselves. One day she simply snapped, programming the prototype to respond only to her commands, and destroying all information and blueprints. That was the day that the pirate Captain Thunder stole the prototype ship "in the name of love and justice". Armed with the most advanced starship that had ever been built, Thunder was able to escape with several million credits of technology, as well as several million more in stolen food and goods from cargo ships. Yuui Thundra chose to leave her life behind, discarding her name and identity for the persona created from the novels she read. To her, the next course of action was clear: she needed a crew. Thus, the scientist Yuui Thundra was lost to the dread pirate Captain Thunder.

So begins...

Aenanu wasn't listening to what was going on behind him. No, he was too busy trying to get around the thing that was stopping him from getting to his sister. He was getting more and more frustrated and angry the longer he was stopped and for a moment he moved his hand to his hip only to find nothing there. Of course, when the disease had hit them, the first thing they did was evacuate. They hadn't had time to go and look for their weapons or check the ships. They'd just taken off. All they had was what was already on the ship.

"I want my sister!" Aenanu finally turned around to the two beings that seemed to be native to the planet they were now on. "Take me to my sister now!"

He was angry and he wanted to get to his sister. He wasn't going to go any other direction other than where he'd seen them take his sister. He didn't listen to orders from women, no matter what planet they were on. With that, once more he tried to walk around the big animal that was currently stopping him from following any further.

Thunder smiled cheerfully and tucked the papers away neatly and turned on her heel to face Aenanu again. Man, she loved legitimate governments, they had nice clean money that spent oh so well. Now all she had to do is deal with the irate alien that was now shouting in her direction. Yeah, he seemed pretty ticked off, though if Thunder had found herself in the same situation, she would have been pretty pissed off too. She held her hands up in a disarming fashion, and kept her voice fairly calm and friendly,"Alright, alright, take it easy, okay? You sister is in good hands, and you'll be able to join her soon. These folks just need to know what happened. Clearly you guys are in trouble, and we just want to help. So you and your traveling companion just need to come answer some questions, alright?"

She didn't want to fight the guy, and he definitely seemed like he might attack if they upset him any more. Just in case, she made sure that she'd be able to go for her weapon if things went sour.

Shan looked at the earpiece and then back to Sharar, then at the earpiece than back at Sharar. His hand fidgeted out and froze before he finally staggered his hand out and said, "Th-this, right? You mean-" He pointed to it, "Right? Um..." He reached out, very cautiously, and picked it up, placing it in his ear. "This... is a translator, r-right?"

He hoped it was a translator.

Kaslane, the giant leopard-esque bio vehicle, sidestepped when Aenanu tried to step around her. If he tried this again, every time she would move to block his path, staring him down.

Sich put her face in her hands and groaned. Magna was going to kill her. Well... if he wasn't dead, too. "We're bringing several vehicles to take them to Zanzaria's Police Department. They'll be fine. We don't mean to harm anyone."

Sharar sighed, putting a hand to his face and shaking his head. This man was truly dense. Sharar pointed at Shan once more, and then put two fingers under his own eyes. watch.

Sharar then pulled the ear piece from shan's head and plugged it back into the computer. He disconnected and reconnected it several times, delibritately repeating the action for Shan to notice. Then Sharar stepped back, arms pointing at the computer and then a Shan again. Shan computer, computer Shan.

I need to connect it to one of your computers you idiot.

"I'm not going anywhere until I see my sister!" He shouted angrily. He cursed at the fact that he didn't have any of his weapons. Though they'd been trained for their planet's defense primarily, they also knew attack strategies. You couldn't really learn one without the other. No matter how good your defense was, if you couldn't attack the enemy would win eventually. But at the moment Aenanu had nothing to make an attack and Sharar, it looked like he was trying to get the information off the ship so that maybe they could later on find others that had survived or get other useful information from the ship.

"Take me to my sister, now." He tried once more to side step the animal again only to be stopped again. He was obviously getting himself more worked up the longer he wasn't getting his way and now he had no idea where Essie had actually gone. They weren't going to split them up. He was going to see his sister and he was going to see her now.

"Listen, women. We do not take orders form you. You take orders from us. We men are higher than you. You are mere mates and breeders. You WILL take me to my sister now, or else you will be punished severely." Aenanu snapped.

"Listen-Would you just-Look we just-" Thunder kept trying to get Aenanu to listen to her for at least a moment, but the irritated xupra would have none of it. At least the other guy seemed to be trying to do something more useful than running off after a flying vehicle though a city he's never seen before. Thunder had to remind herself more than once that she was getting paid for this job, and translators usually didn't grab one of the parties by the head and shake them violently.

It was when Aenanu turned and stated that men were higher than women, and that he had the right to order her around. Naturally he then had the balls to give her an order, under threat of punishment.

"Oh no you did not just order me to do anything! Listen here, sir. We have your sister, and we have you and your partner surrounded. You will be the one taking orders, and I say shut up and come along quietly or I poke you full of holes and we try again with your buddy over there or your dear sister. Wanna try me? Look around, buddy boy, we are not on your planet, so you follow our rules."

To punctuate her point, Thunder pulled the plasma pistol from her hip and pointed it at the man's face. She really didn't want to shoot, for a million reasons, the main two being that she wanted to get paid, and she didn't want to kill an undiscovered species. In that order.

"Questions?"

"What is he saying? Doesn' sound like anything- whoa! Whoa, whoa!" Sich put her hands up to stop Thunder. "What's going on? What'd he say? What is he, going to try and attack or something!?" the woman scowled. "Put down the weapon! We're not in any danger with me here!"

Head of Zanzarian Security Sich Karis. That title actually meant something. Even if Sich didn't act the part.

_________

Shan picked up the earpiece after a good amount of flinching and making faces in trying to understand Sharar. He looked at it and nodded. "Um... so not in there... uh..." Obviously, he wanted it to be put into a computer, but not that computer. He looked at the jack and scrutinized it. This wouldn't fit into something rigid.

Huffing, he raised his right arm and dug his fingers into the caster glove, which hooked up to the cybernetic implants within his skin. He flipped up one end and drew the jack toward the open end of the glove, which didn't look like machinery at all. It looked like a mess of veins and arteries, but instead of pulsing blood through them, it was some strange blue liquid with a very feint glow. He placed the jack near it. Several of the veinlike items reared up and began to wrap around the jack.

Sharar's interest was once again piqued as shan displayed a unique biomechanical structure similar to the xuprans...

Interesting...perhaps....

No, that would have to wait. There were more important matters to focus on. The earpiece immediately began to download the information it needed to begin functioning. The process took a total of thirty seconds before the small device let out a short, sharp beep.

Sharar stuck out both hands, one was empty, and the other held another of the small devices.

Aenanu was waiting for the woman to start speaking again and show him where his sister was. He didn't get that she was just a meer translator or that she wasn't translating back to the person in charge what he was saying. He didn't even care about what he was saying because he was so angry. He was infuriated that he wasn't allowed to follow to make sure she was okay. But was she okay? He'd expressed that all women were good for was serving their men and breeding. Was Essie a victim of his controlling ways? She was heavily pregnant with twins and seriously injured.

Then the plasma gun was pointed at him, he sneered. "You think that stupid thing scares me, woman? You probably don't know how to even shoot it. Take me to my sister now. I demand it. I will not be answering any questions until I see that my sister is okay, and only then may I decide to answer those questions." He growled in Xi, obviously angry and obviously believing that he could still overpower a woman with a gun.

"Tell the woman what I said and what she's saying to me. Now." He added, not understanding a word she was saying.

The now severely annoyed pirate batted at Sich,"I'm gonna shoot him in the fekshe kneecap for being uncooperative. Plus he's sexist. I hate that." With or without permission, (Well, honestly who would, in their right mind, give Thunder permission to shoot at an unarmed person, no matter how much of an asshole he was being?) Thunder would fire a single bolt of superheated, ionized gas, which would dissipate in a small, but violent, explosion of extreme heat and force upon contact with whatever surface it found first. Against shielded targets, this wouldn't do much, but weaker materials, such as flesh, would be scorched, leaving a small charred injury. Nothing that would threaten a life, or cause any sort of lasting damage, but it would sting a little.

If the shot hit something less...alive, then it would most likely just leave a black mark, or a very small, shallow crater. However, the captain was a very good shot, and pretty damn pissed off, so only outside forces were going to make her miss.

Sich's distressed cry was powerful enough to travel far down the streets. In that same moment, Sich reached out to grab Thunder's wrist and push it away from its intended target. Whether it had worked or not, Sich began to yell. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" she screamed at the top of her voice, loud enough to start cracking in the middle of her words.

"I didn't just sign that contract to have you shooting at the person I need you to help me understand! They're from an entirely different culture! I should and could confiscate your gun right now and put you into jail for that, but that wouldn't help me get anywhere with these people-" The gloves on her hands powered up and glowed neon blue. A thin translucent film of energy would form around Thunder. "Put your weapon away and calm down!"

She glanced towards Aenanu to make sure he was alright. Saying a thing to him wouldn't do any good at all.

_______

Shan managed a smile. He had finally done something right! That was a first! He reached out to take the earpiece that Sharar had produced, but paused as he heard a gunshot. His head snapped to the side. There was a moment's delay before he sprinted toward the exit of the broken spaceship, his gloves powering up similarly to Sich's, but instead of producing a forcefield, they sparked with electricity.

The plasma shot clipped Aenanu's kneecap to the side, missing most of it but still causing the man to fall and cry out some form of obscenity in his own language at the impact.

"You fucking woman!" He then shouted in Xi. "What the fuck you do that for?"

He was angry now. And he had to warn Sharar. He didn't want the other man to be injured. "Sharar! Be warned. Stay where you are. They have weapons and have already fired at me." He shouted. "Do not answer what they want unless I give orders to do so!" The man's voice was full of pain as he cradled his injured kneecap. It was nothing serious though, or life threatening, it seemed.

Thunder quickly holstered her weapon and held her hands up to show she wasn't going to tray shooting him again. She was pretty sure she got her point across anyways, though she wasn't too pleased the use of the word 'woman' as a swear word,"Okay okay okay, I'm calm, see? And I even have his full attention. He says he won't answer any questions until he sees his sister, and he's pretty adamant on that. I think its just because we're women though. Ass."

She turned her attention back toward Aenanu again, with a honest laugh,"If I had known you were going to be such a little girl about it, I would have just punched you. Its not even lethal, you twit. Now, believe it or not, you sister was taken to a medical facility, where, get this, they have medical professionals. Its like fucking magic, right? So all you have to do to see her, where she's probably already awake and well, and watching bad daytime television, is answer a few fucking questions."

Thunder sighed softly, pretty sure that all that was going to happen is that she's going to want to shoot him again.

"Is that simple enough, or are you too stupid to comprehend? Or maybe I should talk to the other guy, he seemed to be a little more level-headed than you."

"Why don't you just translate, like you're supposed to?" growled Sich. "I will handle him with my own words if you'd just relay them and do nothing else. If you shoot one more time I will be forced to take you in. That's your final warning." she said sternly. The high-pitched, annoying squeal of her voice was replaced by a deeper, more stern tone as she switched gears. "If he wants to speak to a man, we'll get one."

The fingers of her left hand brushed her cheek as she tried to find the whereabouts of one man who people found it difficult to say "no" to. Meanwhile, Shan hurried up to them, looking at Aenanu, then at Thunder, then at Sich.

"What happened?" he asked. "I heard a shot go off."

....This can't be happening

Sharar was stunned as he stood alone in the wrecked control room of the ship. That moron did not just leave an unknown alien unsupervised...especially one that is pretty hostile after having one of his...companions shot. Nope, I'm totally under heavy guard right now, that's right, I have to be.

Sharar sighed heavily when he confirmed no one else was around.

"And my species was worried about being attacked by an enemy with cunning....What a let down this universe has turned out to be." Sharar shrugged. "Well better see what kind of trouble we're in."

Not one to let opportunity slip past him, Sharar quickly, and quietly exited the wreck ship and slipped into the shadows. IT seemed like everyone had gathered at one end of the large room, with a large mechanical animal of some sort blocking the passage out in that direction.

Sharar looked around. No way such a huge space had only one exit...especially with some walls missing from the crash.

I believe it's time to go exploring for a bit Sharar thought as he spotted a small hole in a wall that revealed a smaller side hallway. And without a word more, the man took his exit making sure to try and stay out of sight.

Aenanu growled, managing to get himself back standing. There was no sign of Sharar now and that pissed him off as much as the translator was stopping him from getting to his sister.

"I want to go to my sister now. Take me to my sister. I want to see that she is safe and okay. Take me to her now." Aenanu snapped at the translator. "I am not doing anything you want until I see that my sister is okay. And if I found out that you've done anything to her by taking her away, you will all be sorry." He threatened.

Things had changed drastically now that they were stopping him from going with his sister. He'd welcomed their help but now he felt threatened and danger around him. He wanted his sister. He wanted Sharar to fix their ship and get fuel and then they'd go find somewhere else to land, he decided.

Thunder rolled her eyes for what seemed like the millionth time that day. She really wished that this guy would just calm down and understand that demanding wasn't going to get him anywhere. It was going to be one of those jobs.

"He said, blah blah blah, he wants to see his sister, blah blah blah, idle threat, idle threat....I'm telling you, he's just going to keep on this way until we can get a male to talk to him. These guys are all alike. Women are beneath them, and this guy is so bad that he's gonna keep on like that until he gets neutered."

She paused to look at Shan,"No offense."

"Well, he'll get someone," hissed Sich, turning back to the alulan man. "Shan, where's the other alien? You're supposed to be watching him!" she chided.

"Uh... uh... he should still be in the ship! I-" He ran back to try and find him. "He'll be there, pro-" He poked his head inside the ship, only to find it empty. "Um..."

"Shan. Is he there?"

"... um..."

"Shan."

"N... no..."

Sich palmed the right side of her face in disbelief. "Shan, come here and don't do anything else! You're being useless! I'm getting a Mutt to find him!" She turned to Thunder and Aenanu. "We're getting Magna Impus down here! He was on his way anyway. Just wait a few more-"

"Please, Miss Karis, there's no need. I am here."

The voice, which rolled and rumbled like deep thunder, belonged to a man floating down on a large platform. He was a monster of a man, not because he was strange and alien, or had multiple crablike limbs or anything of the sort, but because he was incredibly... fat.

Magna Impus was as tall as he was wide, and he had a very generous height. His suit cleverly disguised any rolls, but did not stop his entire mass from wibbling and wobbling with every move he made. On both sides of him were two guards armed to the teeth. Cyborgs with every inch covered in weapons and armor. Despite this, Magna smiled at the two aliens.

"Ah, you must be Captain Thunder-" he said to the green-skinned woman. "A pleasure, a pleasure. I am Mayor Impus of Zanzaria. This must be one of our unfortunate crashed... visitors." His face became grim as he cast a glance at the broken City Hall. "What seems to be the problem?"

Sharar stalked through the hallways slowly, sticking to the sides and trying his best to stay out of sight. Fortunately the crash had caused a reasonable amount of panic, and the hallways were occasionally filled with an assortment of these aliens running to and fro. It was also fortunate they shared a pretty much exact humanoid appearance, save for when some would start to access some kind of cybernetic underlay. Still, it was easy enough to blend into the crowds by wearing a confused face filled with fear and keeping his head down.

As he wondered Sharar caught sight of a room that garnered some attention. Tapping the earpiece he had taken back from Shan, a pair of thin wires exteneded parallel to each other, passing around and in front of Sharar's eyes, coming to a stop at the side of his forehead. With another tap, a display appeared between the two wires. Sharar looked at the words on a plaque besides the door through the screen which actively began to decipher and translate the text.

"Server Room"

Sharar smiled, and slipped into the room unnoticed, closing the door quietly behind him.

The alien that had crashed was only going to continue to make nothing but the same demands that he'd been making all morning. Or afternoon. Or whatever time it was on this damn new planet that they had landed on. He didn't give a fuck what time it was, he didn't care about anything else. The only thing he cared about right now was seeing his sister and nothing was going to change that. And he continued to voice this with the same Xi words.

"I want my sister."

The new person that seemed to come along, the fattest man that the xupra had ever seen made him pause for a second just at the sheer shock of everything. He'd never seen something wibble and wobble like it currently was. He almost laughed but then he remembered the situation and what he needed to do about it.

His sister.

With that, once again he repeated his previous words and tried to find a way to get past the security animal that was trying to stop him from finding his sister. He was going to have his demands listened too. And that was final. And then he was going to fix his ship and get the fuck of this planet.
