Description

Forgive me if I don't seem like the most amiable person alive. I'd love to get to know you, but on your terms. There's a lot of things you don't know about me, that I don't want you to know about me, because people, as genuine as they might seem, love to jump to conclusions.

I'll hang back and smile. I'm pretty easy-going. Just don't give me trouble. I promise I won't give it back.

"Time again, I've thought through it all, how we've loved and loved and how we're pushing one another, forcing one another to be somebody else.."

The headphones tucked into her ears kept extraneous noise away from her. She steadily bobbed her chin in time with the music, her shoulder nudging the door to Gambit's open as she stepped inside. Licking her lips, she made her way over to the bar counter, hands tucked into her pockets as she hooked the lower rail of one of the stools. She nudged it out, sat down, and finally withdrew her hands to fold her arms on the counter in front of her.

The girl looked tired, dark eyes downcast as she looped the headphone wire around her thumb and jerked the music away.

Her eyes slid sideways to Andres, then back to Sheila, before returning forward, a smile forming on her face when the bartender approached her.

"Just a coke, please." she said, proceeding to scratch at an old stain in the wood.

When Liz heard him speak, she chanced another glance sideways. The woman in the well-pressed uniform had both of her glittering green eyes fixed on the Spanish man at her left. Reminded her, curiously enough, of a feline who had sighted her prey. The young woman’s suspicions were confirmed when the crisp female on her left began to talk.

The moment she received the frown, Liz returned a rather dazzling smile, then glanced away to take the coke from the bartender. Accidentally, their hands brushed.

She jerked her hand back as though she’d been burned, unintentionally knocking the soda over and soaking the 500 cubit bill that the other woman had laid down.

“Crap, sorry about that,” Liz stammered, going to grab a few napkins so she could clean up the mess. In the back of her mind, she wondered if she’d just put the lady’s starched panties in a twist.

Elizabeth’s breath quickened as she fought back a nasty retort, flinching when the woman snapped at her not once, but a few times. She closed her eyes, drawing in a deep breath through her nose before hesitantly approaching the scene of the mess, sweeping the fluid away from the pair and mopping it up. Her cheeks were a little colored, movements tense, but other than that there would be no outward signs of her irritation.

What she didn’t understand was how a human being, like every other human being in this place, could simply command the room and everyone in it as though they’d been born to have people fall at their feet.

Don’t get into it. Don’t. Just move down a seat. Don’t talk to her. It totally isn’t worth it.

She pinched the bridge of her nose between her thumb and forefinger. It was better than slugging the other woman in the face.

“You don’t…seem like the type of woman accustomed to being disrespected.” She found herself saying, rather loudly, to Sheila.

A new glass of soda was set before her. Elizabeth rested her fingers around the slick, cool surface, smiling to herself and mentally doing a countdown before she abruptly turned and splashed the contents of the glass all over the military woman’s face.

“Figure’d I’d give you a reason to be nasty. May not have a hair on my ass, but you sure do have something in your hair.” Liz spat before getting off of her stool.

Well, Miss Fern, no going back now!

To be perfectly honest, Elizabeth didn’t care if one was trained to punch on the street, or in the military. It was still a blow that needed to be avoided, which she did. Ducking the first punch, her left hand reached out to snatch Sheila’s wrist in a death-grip.

Her pupils dilated as a flash of images, Sheila’s memories, distracting her from the second blow. It caught her collar-bone, closer to her shoulder, but her fingers remained latched firmly around the other woman’s wrist. She turned, with the woman’s arm over her shoulder, and aimed to flip her straight over and onto her back.

"With all do respect, sir," Elizabeth said, her feet spaced to maintain her balance as she leveled a rather firm glare at Sheila. "I got this."

"You want me to be perfectly honest?" she directed to Sheila. "I don't give a flying fuck who you are, or who you think you are. You've got to have a damn good reason to treat me the way you just did, so I'm giving you one."

She didn't want to get anywhere near that baton, but someone was going to have to make a move. "I promise you though, the longer we go at this, the better my chances are at winning. Fair warning."

"Miss Elizabeth Fern, of nothing important, nowhere in particular." She said, suddenly launching herself at the other woman, hooking a barstool with her left hand and hurling it at Sheila. Even if the blow missed, Elizabeth would dive at her, hands snapping out to try to get her off of her feet, and once again on her back.

She had to duck her head to avoid the shards of wood that suddenly exploded outwards. That bitch. Cheating with her damn gun. The night-stick she could understand, but hell.

Fucking military types.

When the sharp twang of the baton smacked her in the back of the leg, she hit the ground hard, a tingling sensation extending to her toes. She grunted, swallowing back the pain, before seizing the woman's ankle with her arm, catching it in the crook of her elbow. While contracting her abdomen and curling her knees closer to her chest, her right, unaffected leg swung forward, heel hooking the back of Sheila's thigh in an attempt to knock her off balance.

She could feel her vision going, the blows sort of blurring from one to the next in a continuous sensation of pain. The very instant she felt her go down though, she brought her knees tighter to her chest, throwing one arm out and pushing herself to a partially-knelt position. She'd had the back of her head to Sheila the entire time, due to positioning, and while she was still clinging to the woman's ankle and receiving the blows, she got her feet underneath her, pushed hard, and attempted to shove her back to the other woman's chest. Then, and only then, would she release the ankle, grabbing her own wrist with her left hand and driving her elbow into the woman's abdomen.

Her cheek was swollen. The back of her head felt like she'd been run over by a truck, but god dammit if that woman hit her one more time with the fucking baton she was going to flip.

Elizabeth was smiling, her hands placed amiably behind her head as she watched the woman get dragged away.

"Just like a pussy to have her boys come to her aid." she jeered. "Have fun washing the soda out of your hair!"

When they'd disappeared, she turned, spat a mouthful of blood, and looked toward Cryoface.

"Bag of ice?" she querried, putting a hand to the back of her head.

She turned to the figure on the bar stool, lifting a brow before rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "So glad you were around to enjoy the festivities." she said sharply before dragging herself up to the bar and resting her forehead on the counter.

Elizabeth Fern shrugged, lifting her hands out to either side rather emphatically before letting her hands drop back to her knees. It seemed as though Cryo had left the bulding, so she lifted her head rather tiredly to Assassin.

"Bag of ice?"

She felt like her brain was going to squish out of her ears.

Elizabeth Fern took the ice as it was offered, and placed it to the back of her head. "She called herself an Admiral, but I'm pretty sure she was talking out of her ass."

She heaved a sigh, straightening a little bit, and grimacing when her back cracked.

"I threw a coke at her." Liz offered. "Then she tried to punch me. So, uh..I think I started that one."

Sort of, if the woman hadn't been such a depraving bitch before.

She smiled, toying with the can before cracking the lid and taking a sip. "Haven't seen you around before." she commented to Joker. "Then again, this is my first time here, so I'm not really surprised."

Liz lifted her eyes to the board, finding Joker's face there, and nodded. "I was paying more attention to bashing in the other woman's skull. Though, that's a pretty nice picture of you."

She leaned her head on her arm, face in his direction. "I'm Liz, by th--" She jerked her head up and leveled a glare at Assassin.

"Consider this my induction then, smartass."

Elizabeth Fern glanced over to Andres as he came in, sitting up more fully in her chair before heaving a sigh.

"Should probably head out." she said quietly, waving aimlessly at the rest of the patrons before making her way towards the door.

Elizabeth Fern The cold weather bit through the thin hoody she wore, whipping at the fabric and sending her teeth to chattering. Clenching her jaw, she shoved her hands further into her pockets, closing her eyes briefly as another sting of the breeze brought tears to her eyes. It was cold, her head hurt, and to be perfectly honest she didn't have much of an idea of where she was going. She'd woken up in one of those moods today.

Happened a lot when she dreamed about other people's memories.

Rolling her shoulders, she glanced skyward, hoping to God that it didn't rain, and ducked her head against the wind as it gusted past her, ignoring the shops along the way.

Fucking Wing City. She hated it here.

Elizabeth Fern had her head down, eyes glancing upward only occasionally to make sure she didn't go running into a light pole. Her steps were quick and measured, as if she didn't want to waste time with the trip to nowhere.

The sudden appearance of light had her looking up rather sharply, frozen to the spot. Her hands came out of her pockets, fingers clenching in towards her palm as she looked upwards for the source. Her heart rate picked up a tad, instincts telling her to book it in the opposite direction.

So she did. She ran as fast as her skinny legs could carry her.

"Shit!" she breathed as the light encompassed her. She didn't know what it meant, only knew that she needed to get away from it by whatever means necessary.

She nearly stumbled when she saw the massive structure soar over her, making the ground tremble with its deafening roar. She skidded to a halt, backtracking, wondering if it was worth it to try to run in the other direction.

"Look!" she hollared up at the massive ship. "I don't have any money! In fact, I'm pretty useless! Scotty, if you're up there, I have no interest in being beamed up thank you very much!"
