Ex-General Walker

That's General Walker to you, boy.

0 · 451 views · located in Wing City Gardens (South)

a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by Patcharoo, as played by Kidafire

Description

Ex-General Walker is a very sober and serious man who's focus is on one thing, results. He does not like to be kept waiting, he does not like excuses. He demands only the best and the finest. He comes from Texas and boasts the biggest, best ship. He refuses to talk on his past history on why he is known as; Ex-General Walker. He does not help the undeserving, he does not pity the needy and he does not bend in the face of death. He is a good man and if you serve him well, he will lead you to victory.

"Ex-General Walker," he answered, taking a step back and gesturing for the room. "Every person in this room is a high ranking and valuable asset to Orion Industries. Fi-"

"The child? Orion didn't tell us the details. He said you had a gift to detect the one we were looking for. He failed to mention you had actually found them, and that they were a child." There was a hint of distaste in the Ex-General's voice, as if he didn't approve of the robots actions.

He moved to take a seat and gestured for her to do the same.

"So what might we call you?"

Her less-than-formal first name introduction caused Walker's mouth to twitch. "What do you know exactly of the prophecy in question? Do you know of any of the details? It's purpose? We only recently dug it up and have had our cryptologists working on it ever since. We're close to cracking the full message."

"Mm, well, the prophecy doesn't state much, but we believe that the childs life might be in danger. It speaks of someone who wants to use them. Up until now... We had admittedly just thought the stone tablet was a priceless artefact of a long-dead civilisation. You've shed some light on the situation."

"We may genuinely need your help. What did you want the child for, exactly?"

"We're in the same boat," Walker answered with a nod. "The childs safety is our first concern. Dealing with whoever is after him comes next. Do you know who they are? If they know about the prophecy? Or even what they want to use him for?"

Walker stared, then slapped his hand on the table. Anyone not alert now was. "Recently we have discovered an agent, we don't know who or who they work for, trying to access our files on this prophecy. Whoever they are, they have technology on par with our own. Do you think it could be him trying to... Discover the child, the prophecy? And use them to make a giant robot? Power it even?"

For the first time his sober face had shifted to, well, wide-eyed and sober. He still seemed infinitely stern though.

The Ex-General shook his head. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Avia." Twinge. "There is no evidence to suggest that anyone has even gotten close to the prophecy. The one man who tried was stopped by Mewtwo. There's a question to be asked, do you know if Ezrael has any relation to the Supervillain known as Cydrok? That should be the first place to investigate."

"In the meantime, we can arrange for Orion to protect the child full time. He doesn't need to sleep, and there's not a thing in the world that can shut him down."

"Orion Industries is mostly run and organised from our head ship, which flies in low orbit over the planet. It is not our only ship, just the most advanced. We have several major production facilities over the world and create military technologies. We do not make mass produced cheap expendable crap. We make individual superior machines and technologies that will get the job done not just once or twice, but every time you send them."

"Orion Cataclysm is our latest product in this division. Nothing short of a nucular explosion will kill him, and even that might not work."

"Yes." The Ex-General levelled his gaze for Avia. "I'm sorry, but are you implying that he caused a meteor strike on this planet?" He gestured with his hand something towards Adam who shook his head.

"We keep an observation of all going ons in the local space, to ensure protection of our own assets. We were aware." He leant on one arm, though it wasn't meant to appear lazy. "Is he still capable of that? Can he call down a meteor on us? Or did he have someone or thing to help him? Any details you can give to his precise power will help."

Walker seemed all too calm about the meeting. He had a bag of things calmly stashed in a side compartment, then gestured for Valeria. "Store any loose goods there, Miss Johnson. Then strap yourself into the shuttle. We'll be on the Orion flag ship in twenty minutes." He climbed inside the round object and slipped into the seatbelt.

The shuttle was small, just a cylindrical container with eight seats all facing inwards. Walker laid his hands clamly in his lap and closed his eyes, like he was going to sleep. "Now you might feel a slight G-force..." he said slowly as preparations continued outside. Crew closed the door to the shuttle and a moment later it started lifting, not from propulsion but from something mechanical.

"But pressure remains stable, so just sit and grit your teeth and you should be fine."

Outside there was a countdown starting from twenty.

And then it reached 0. There was a sudden pull upwards, not enough to cause whiplash but definitely noticeable, followed by massive acceleration. It would feel like her entire body was in front of a power fan blowing down on her head. There was a sound of combustion, but the launching feel was of something else, more like a magnetic track than the rough jet propulsion.

Then it was gone, and all that was left was the massive roar of rockets firing to launch them up into the sky. It took all of five minutes to breach the atmosphere, but it probably felt much longer. Then the feeling of weightlessness started to sink in. Gravity no longer held them despite their constant forward motion.

"We'll be there in ten minutes, I think," Walker muttered as a calm female voice spoke overhead.

"Pre-recorded message," Walker said with a sigh, "Try not to be too impressed until we get to the ship. I live most of my life in space, Miss Johnson. I tend not to be impressed by what I see every morning." But despite his words, a small smile tugged at the corner of his cheek. Up ahead was a ship massive in size. It was overall rectangular in shape, but it looked like it could fit hundreds of people on board. And they were travelling towards it.

"Mhm, the Orion flagship orbits Terra and remains in constant communication. But I think we're far enough away from the planet to ensure safe communication. To put it simply, Miss Johnson, we set up a trap. Bait. A valuable tablet we recently uncovered in one of our mining operations. We gave it to a museum with low security to see who might take it. We even pretended it had a prophecy of great importance written on it."

"And someone took the bait. We can show you pictures on board to see if you recognise any of the people who were present at the time."

"We are, but we weren't able to identify all of them. The tablet was stolen, briefly, but one of our agents were in the area and retrieved it." They were nearing the ship now, slowing down and there was a lod mechanical clanking noise as they docked.

"We believe it might be the work of a vigilante. A 'Supervillain' so to speak. This clashes with some evidence we have, but we can show you the camera footage of what happened and if you can identify them it might give us a real hand."

There was a sharp hissing of air as they were taken on board the ship, and suddenly there was gravity again, forcing them back into their seat.

It is now safe to leave your seats.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it Miss Johnson." The airlock was strange, making plenty of noise as it appropriately pressurised. "General's clearance. Let me through," said the Ex-General, eager to get a move on. He lead her through the ship to the main control room where a table sat. Except the table was hardly the focus.

Dozens of people actively monitored and maintained the control panels, massive screens showing everything from radar to the surrounding area to ship. Hundreds of blips could be seen moving around the ship, each individual crew member. "Your paper, sir!" saluted one crew member as he handed Walker a newspaper.

Walker gestured for the table. "Take a seat. We'll pull up the information in just a moment. Do you want any coffee?"
