Half Gargoyle just learning to fly

Shame. It hung heavy on Fae's shoulders every day when she was growing up. A half breed, she was horrifying to the family of her human mother, and a disgrace to the clan she was born into by her father's blood. Amidst all the rejection, she found reason to still believe in herself. She didn't ask to be born as she was, and she couldn't change her genes. Still, it was difficult living on Avalon while looking the way she did. She seems normal enough and human on her top half, save for a skin tone that's slightly more orange than it should be. Even her bright red hair could pass off as being dyed blonde hair, with eyebrows to match, but that wasn't enough to distract from her monstrous gargoyle legs and tail that she now hides under her white gown.

Fae is sweet enough but she regularly feels the need to hide not just her physical abnormalities, but also her past and who she is now because of it. Longing for what we all long for, she looks for her place and a little acceptance.

So begins...

Fae Osterdam is down but not out. The male hears the command and rolls his neck before stomping towards the downed gargoyle and staff-wielding alien. Fae's eyes suddenly shot wide open, void of the kind green pupils that were there when the orbs shut. Now the slits were filled rim to rim with glowing white. As she hissed and pushed herself up on her elbows, she turned over onto her back. Her expression was now purely primal and it was clear that she was done playing nice when once the prisoner was close enough, she sprung her foot up off the ground and lands a hard kick in the brute's groin.

Fae Osterdam smiles wickedly, showing gargoyle fangs past bloodied lips. The man grabs his crotch and falls to his knees just as Fae pulls out of the compromised area. Still propped on her elbows, she lets out a gut-driven growl before putting her best weapon, her lower half, into action again. This time, her feet-talons go up to the man's head. In an impressive swift move, she twists his head like the lid of a jar until a snap is heard and the man goes limp. She discards him like trash on the ground before scrambling to stand and face the alien. This is certainly not the princess that he followed.

Fae Osterdam growls and squares off at Eoh. The fat leader and the other prison workers had managed to sneak to the heads of the carriages and then in sudden unison drove the crafts into action. Fae crouched down near her kill and hissed loudly at all the motion. In a frenzy of dust and noise, the vehicles were driven out of the small clearing and down the path, leaving behind a raging gargoyle, fallen prisoner, and strange alien. With the area settling slightly, Fae snaps into action once more. This time she charges and kicks a spray of dirt and smoldering ash from the fire up into Eoh's face. Folowing this, she attempts another kick, bringing it roundhouse towards his side.

Fae Osterdam doesn't foresee the danger of the staff, as, in fact, she can barely even see that it is blocking her. Having her weight on the leg that launched the dirt, she's able to pivot her whip and strike down with a swift lashing motion. The final urge is to let out a yell just as her foot hits the staff. All her motion to complete the circular step is stopped and reversed with astonishing efficiency, leaving her to be pushed down to the ground. Then, there was eerie silence as dirt settled to the ground. Fae was on her stomach on the ground, one arm trapped under her, the other flung to the side. One of her legs is strewn to one side while the other has a clearly broken, crooked shape, bending incorrectly at the shin. She doesn't appear to be moving, aside from the very slow, shallow breaths marked by the expansion of her side.

Fae Osterdam did stay down. In fact, she didn't make any motion to move, if you don't count the breathing or the way the breeze moved her hair and tail tuft. The silence that the Dark Woods wrapped about its secrets seemed to be taking this scene in as well. Even the fire had died down to just a few smoldering ashes and the gentlest glow. Eoh, whether he realized it or not, had found the most effective way to stop her raging: knock her ass out. As she slumbered, the greatest gift of her gargoyle heritage kicked in, healing. Her leg, as if pulled by straps, straightened at the shin and corrected itself.

Fae Osterdam groaned a bit, rolling onto her side before stopping. "What...Where am I?" It always took a little while after a rage to catch up with what had happened, though she rarely regained what happened while she was under the influence. "Who...?" She turns her head and looks up to see the alien pointing a weapon at her. Her first reaction is to jerk away, but she stops herself, frozen with her green eyes locked on Eoh.

Fae Osterdam actually whimpered before pushing up to get to a crouching position. She reaches to her side to feel that her money pouch is still there before reaching for her skirt that isn't so far off. Then she sees the man and feels the bottom drop out of her stomach. She knew she had done it again, paid to be able to kill someone. This brought tears pouring out of the corners of her eyes. She falls back on her rump and holds her hands up to hide her face. The skirt in her hand is pulled up as well, hiding her face, but not the soft crying sound...

Fae Osterdam pulls down the barrier that kept just how bad she looked hidden, pulling the skirt down into her lap. "Please...Don't make me go." she said amidst sniffles. Carefully, she pushes off the ground and stands up on her own two feet. Her eye contact breaks as she looks down long enough to connect her skirt back to her outfit. It was easy to see why she wore that outfit, she almost seemed completely human in it. "I don't want to be alone..." Was she crazy? Asking a stranger who's aiming a bow at you to stay around because you're lonely certainly didn't seem sane. Still, she seemed quite serious, standing in place.

Fae Osterdam studies the arrow for a moment before stepping forward one step to use her foot to pluck it out of the ground. She then feeds the weapon into her hand and takes a few more slow steps towards him. She holds the arrow out for Eoh to take, holding the point in her closed hand. "Forgive me..." she says with her cracked voice, handing the arrow to him before stepping back to turn and leap into the trees. She pauses there, looking down at him.

Fae Osterdam was suddenly a flurry of motion and rustling overhead. She had her tail wrapped tightly about the thickness of a sturdy branch, hanging upside down like a monkey. Her white gown was hanging down over her torso with the under-leotard covering her hind quarters. Her hands went behind her head as she smiled down at the white-haired one. "Hello." she greeted, fangs showing in her smile.

Fae Osterdam released the branch and fell to the ground, flipping over so that her feet hit first, large gargoyle talons taking the impact nicely. To keep from further intimidating the girl, Fae stays crouched down and even put her hands down on the ground. Her white gown now pools around her legs on the ground, save for how it was caught up in her crouch. "I thought I was all alone tonight."

Fae Osterdam was simply strolling through the dark woods by herself, as she often did whether it was mid afternoon, as it was then, or if it were the middle of the night. The orange tinge of her skin color stood out even more among what seemed to be greyed out trees and dull greens. She was dressed in her white dress that had lengths that scraped the forest floor as she went along. Slowing her stroll, she paused at a rather round tree that she deemed to be a good specimen. Looking around the area, she thought herself to be alone, though she kept the thought in the back of her head that these woods have eyes everywhere.

Reaching down to her waist, she unsnaps the skirt of her dress and pulls it off like a matador displaying his colors. With a toss, she places the skirt over a low branch and looked up the tree. Then, with the powerful gargoyle's legs she had revealed, she started to climb. It was not a slow process of working with four sets of claws, for she had nothing but manicured nails on her hands. Instead, she barreled upwards, practically running up the tree with those legs while just barely holding on with her bare hands. This lands her on the lowest branch of that tree that was still a good 20 feet off the ground. Once there, she hung her legs off the branch and sat there calmly, her tail coiling around the limb for security. It was a nice day, even if she was alone.

Fae Osterdam was rather startled by all this and after laying eyes on him, she leaped off the branch she was on and made an impressive thud with her landing. Only crouching there for a moment, she quickly reached for her skirt and threw it back on. With a frown, she looked up at the young man. "I thought I was alone..." As she crouched on the ground again, her knee spikes showed under the white dress. What was she doing? This was a possible friend and she was busy feeling embarrassed about her species? Mustering up a smile, she stood up straight and looked towards him. "I haven't seen you before, either. Are you dangerous? Because I can defend myself - I run quite fast."

Fae Osterdam crossed her arms awkwardly. "I've learned that what you're used to means nothing around this place, especially in the city." Casually, she pushed a hand into her red locks before giving her scalp a scratch. "I feel that I can safely assume that you mean me no harm - unless you just like playing with your food." Smirking, she peeked through one eye at him before chuckling. "I'm Fae, by the way." she said, offering her perfectly human hand to him.

Fae Osterdam smiled brightly at him. "Well Kyran, I have to admit that I feel a little silly because you know my secret..." she said, pulling up her dress slightly to show her gargoyle legs and feet, even waiving her tail tuft at him. "See, most people reject me because I'm half-gargoyle. People in the city called me a demon and tried to banish me. I usually find that it's better to just keep my lower half hidden. But you've already seen it, eh? And you're not running away or trying to kill me, so..." With another snap, she pulled her skirt back off and stretched out her legs.

Fae Osterdam blinked. "Lost war?" she was curious, so much so that she just plopped herself on the ground right there and looked up at him with big innocent eyes. "We gargoyles know many wars - which do you speak of? Were you cast out of your homeland?" Her hands went down and grasped her ankles while she anxiously awaited the story. Her tail even swished from side to side behind her, stirring up some dirt. "Tell me your tale!"

Fae Osterdam frowned deeply and hung her head, red hair falling down around her face. "I am deeply sorry for your loss, Kyran." Slowly standing up, she took one step closer to him before laying a hand on his shoulder. "I offer you comfort as well." Smiling brightly, she gave him a little squeeze before dropping the hand. "Your tale reminds me of an Indian I met in these woods the other night. She travels with her horse, Whisper...Her name was...Geni? Something like that. She was cautious around me because she thought I was a monster, but she's a good person, I can tell. You should look for her." Another smile was given before the half-gargoyle heard someone else around. "Mmph. Three's a crowd...I think I ought to go..."

Fae Osterdam frowned a ducked her head to the side. "Today is not the day I find courage, Kyran..." she muttered before just replacing her skirt again and darting off into the woods. Her feet carried her quickly and soon even the sound of her footsteps was distant and indistinguishable. She knew that the boy was probably right about running, but Fae had a lot of work to do to accept herself before she could handle other people accepting her.

Fagrim marched through the underbrush of the Dark Woods. He leaned on his staff, heaving every now and then from the exertion of the hike. Two companions trailed behind the dwarf. One was a skeletal wolf that wandered to and fro from tree to tree, bones rattling as it prowled, and the other was a tall silent figure clad in body armor. The armored man carried a cudgel at his hip, and he kept a careful watch on the surrounding woods through the tinted lens of a black biker helmet.
