Name: Hikari Berlitz
Nickname: Dawn
Age: 18
Height: 5' 6.5"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Hometown: Twinleaf Town
Hair: Slate-gray
Eyes: Slate-gray
Title: Top Coordinator / Ex-Champion of Sinnoh (Denied the title)

One of the most well-known trainers in all of Sinnoh, and even in other regions. She not only beat the Sinnoh champ, but she also saved the world from distortion by subduing Giratina and eradicating Team Galactic. Despite defeating the champion, she didn't want the title of Champion, finding it more fun to just explore and adventure with her party. She spends a lot of her time at the Battle Hall in the Battle Frontier or at contests in Hearthome.

Her story started in Twinleaf Town when she and her friend Barry tried to run to Sandgem town to see Prof. Rowan. He just so happened to show up at that moment, having finished an inspection of Lake Verity with Lucas. After a brief discussion, Hikari was given a Piplup, and Barry a Turtwig. After mulling it over some, Hikari had decided to go and see the rest of Sinnoh. Encouraged by Johanna, her mother, she left to take this journey. It had seemed her friend had the same idea and so they traveled the Region battling each other from time to time while catching and training Pokemon.

After collecting the Coal Badge from Roark, Hikari went back to Jubilife to go refresh her mind at the Trainer's School again. This was her first run-in with Team Galactic, a syndicate of space-suit wearing freaks with green hair. She had heard of them before in commercials about finding new energy sources. She would have thought nothing of them if it weren't for their harassing of Prof. Rowan and Lucas. Running to their aide, her and Lucas quickly wiped the two goons and off they ran.

On her way to Eterna City, she would run into an admin of this notorious team, Mars. Hikari easily trounced her and forced Team Galactic to bail out of the Windworks. It was in Eterna city that she crossed paths with a boy named James who showed her around the place. The two became fast friends. However, James was clear in telling Hikari to stay clear of the Galactic building at the back of town. Telling her that he saw them steal people's Pokemon who go near it. As he did not have a Pokemon of his own at the time, he couldn't charge the place himself. Hikari volunteered to save the Pokemon instead on his behalf. Inside, she met a curious man by the name of Looker who stated he was from the International Police and was undercover. "Another weirdo" was all that was thought as Hikari fought her way to the top to find Jupiter, another admin. After defeating her and ensuring Team Galactic's retreat, she nabbed the gym badge and moved on to gather the rest.

She wouldn't run into these goons again until Veilstone, where their HQ was. After a short confrontation and an inspection of the HQ, finding no leads, Hikari left to continue her adventure. She would encounter these goons again when they committed an act of terrorism at the Safari Zone. After that, she would encounter them many more times along her journey.

During her escapade with the Galactic Bomb, she had run into a woman dressed in black who introduced herself as Cynthia. She gave Hikari some medicine and a task of delivering something to her grandmother in a town to the north called Celestic Town. After doing what was instructed, she entered the cave in the center of town to see the drawings spoken of by the elder. It was there that she met a man with blue hair and a large G on his outfit. He introduced himself as Cyrus and went on about an imperfect world and how he intends to change it. Being an obstacle in his path he attempts to take down Hikari but she manages a victory causing the man to vacate.

From Cyrus' speech, Hikari could glean that they planned to take the Pokemon from each of the lakes around Sinnoh. Unable to be in three places at once, she was at a loss of what to do. She just so happened to run into Lucas and Barry and told them the situation. After devising a plan, the three set out. Hikari went to Lake Valor only to hear an explosion come from there. She doubled her efforts to get there only to find the water blown out of the lake and the Pokemon living in it strewn about, dead or otherwise. This sickened her, and with a fury she ran into the center of the lake and thrashed the admin Saturn's team. She was sadly too late and they had already gotten what they came for.

Panicking, she flew to the other two lakes to find similar stories from her friends. They were too late to save the Pokemon. This sparked her to retry the HQ in an attempt to save the trio. She did manage to get inside this time thanks to one of the goon's butter fingers. She had already learned of their plans from a prior interaction but refused to believe it, until she heard the speech and how many riled behind the idea. She just couldn't believe it.

As she made her way to the lab, she defeated Saturn once more and freed the trio from the lakes. It was there that she learned the purpose of all this and Cyrus's true destination. Spear Pillar. The location where it is once said that time and space were created by Arceus. Rushing there herself, barreling through an onslaught of Galactic goons, she reaches the top but it set upon by Mars and Jupiter at the same time. By this point, Hikari had a powerful team, but she couldn't take on both of them at once. Her friend Barry came at that moment to support her in battle. With his help, they beat back the admins, but it was too late.

The colossal legends, the lords of both Time and Space stood before them but bound by a mysterious red chain. While Cyrus was gloating, some...thing appeared out of the ground and grabbed him, dragging him into a blackened void. The longer the void existed, the more distorted the world around Hikari became and the more panicked and agitated the Legendary pair became as well. Mysteriously, Cynthia had shown up again. After some discussion, Hikari entered the void into a strange land full of confusing twists and unnatural landscape and physics. At the end she found Cyrus once more. After a heated exchange of ideals a final battle ensued.

Cyrus, unlike the first time, was no pushover here. He fought with everything he had and even made Hikari worry that she might lose. After an arduous fight, Hikari came out on top and Cyrus simply escaped. Wondering why such a man would run, Hikari turned around to find a towering monstrosity staring down at her. The beast who was responsible for the distortion and the obvious owner of the current dimension stood before her. Thinking fast, Hikari managed to hide from the creature. It simply retreated to the furthest point in the distorted plane, guarding the exit. It was at this time Cynthia came by. Not questioning why she came in with Hikari or even how she got to Spear Pillar in the first place, Hikari asked her about what she saw.

Cynthia filled her in with what little was known about this creature, Giratina, who represented antimatter. Cynthia kindly healed Hikari's team and stood back, telling her to keep going until the end. Upon reaching said end, there stood this Giratina at the end of a walkway. With nowhere else to go but forward, Hikari challenged the beast to a battle to which she thankfully came out on top. Being defeated, the Pokemon fled, leaving a portal to the outside world through which the unlikely pair left.

With that momentous story behind her, Hikari finally had time to focus on what she wanted to do, which was to get the rest of the badges and take on the league. Doing just that, she swiped Volkner's badge and made her way there. After an easy climb to the top, with nobody posing much of a threat to her, she reached the champion's room to find a familiar face, Cynthia.

After a proper introduction, Hikari learned the woman's name was Shirona but went by Cynthia for a reason she didn't feel like explaining. The two soon clashed in a fierce battle. After some time, there emerged a victor. As Cynthia's signature Garchomp fell to the ground, Hikari gave her Pachirisu a high five/tail. Before Cynthia could say anything, Hikari told her upfront that she did not want the title of Champion. She just wanted to have an adventure, and this was on her list of things to do. Taking a commemorative ribbon instead, as proof of having defeated the champion, Hikari set off on a new adventure through Sinnoh, with her trusty partners close by.

Hikari captured both Dialga and Palkia atop Spear Pillar after finding both the Lustrous orb and the Adamant Orb. The orbs lead her up to Spear Pillar where the legendary pair appeared to be waiting for her, grateful for having been saved from their previous fate of being forced to destroy the world. What ensued was an honest battle that ended in the capture of both legends.

Hikari had entered into the Battle Frontier and enjoyed the various events within it, but stuck to the Battle Hall quite a bit, enjoying the shows that often occurred. She also enjoyed being on a stage, but not in the egotistical sense. She just loved how it felt to perform. It soon became her second favourite place, only beaten by the Contest Hall in Hearthome. After she defeated Cynthia, the first thing she did was follow her mother's footsteps and become a Top Coordinator. Hikari did manage to obtain a ribbon in all forms of contest, and even the Ribbon Cup, giving her the well deserved title of Top Coordinator. She's even been invited as a judge for a number of contests before. Due to her new title, she went and had special pokeballs commissioned for each of her Pokemon to fit them.

Hikari later explored Stark Mountain with a man named Buck. Buck had told Hikari that a group of weird people in space suits were searching the mountain. Hikari knew exactly who he was talking about, Team Galactic again. They traversed the inside of the mountain and removed the threat posed by Mars and Jupiter for the third time. Seeing as it was a likely target, Buck went to grab the Magma Stone but was interrupted by a large Pokemon, Heatran, dropping from the ceiling. With a fierce malice in it's eyes, it held no qualms about defending it's treasure to the last. Buck had run away by this point, with the stone, but Hikari stayed. Impressed by her boldness, the Heatran battled her and was captured in the end. He now is among Hikari's "High Class" team. Later, Buck was encouraged to return the stone in case there were other Heatran that would cause the mountain to erupt.

Hikari was flying around on her Staraptor for fun one day when she saw a peculiar sight. A small fox flying through the air like a bird. Curious, she followed it to a place where countless flowers bloomed, much like in Floaroma Town. Before she landed, she admired the flowers' beauty. She couldn't find the fox however, instead finding what looked something like Swinub but white and with greenery on its back. When she landed, she must have spooked the little guy because it turned around and attacked her. After a quick battle thanks to the Staraptor, the Shaymin was caught and added to the team. While the Shaymin was sad not being around it's flowers all day and refused to be friends with Hikari, they eventually bonded over time. Hikari does buy flowers for the Shaymin now and again.

Ability:
- Hikari's voice cheering them on is enough to give any member of her team a substantial boost (+2) in all of their stat parameters without the need of stat raising skills, this includes ally's Pokemon in double battles as well. This ability can only be applied for 4 turns and never on the same Pokemon twice in one battle. After the effect ends, the Pokemon's stats are returned to neutral regardless of status moves used in either positive or negative fashion. This buff cannot be dispelled but it can be copied or stolen.

ImageDawn paused for a moment to reflect on how it was things got this bad.... Cue flashback.

"Uuugh. Do we have to battle? ...You're so out of the way, though!" Dawn whined. Across from her, in the middle of the road, stood an ace trainer with his arms folded and a somewhat impatient look on his face.
...End Flashback. Dawn hung her head slightly and wistfully sighed. "...I... may have lost a few costly battles here and there." Dawn replied. Bit of an understatement, don't you think? Dawn briefly leered over her shoulder at no one in particular before returning her attention to Hikari. "I ran out of medicine a while ago. Piplup's been taking it like a champ, at least." Dawn lamented. At this, her piplup struck a rather proud pose with a fin over his heart, only to flinch at Hikari's touch. She could observe that the old wounds still hurt. Even her gentle touch was enough to get a shudder as she brushed over one on his head. A hint of guilt crossed Dawn's expression as she watched this.

Image"But that's a-okay, because we've got spirit for days! No matter how tough things get, you've just gotta' keep on trucking!" Dawn blurted out, flexing an arm and striking a power pose as she attempted to change the topic. Piplup nodded in agreement accompanied by a couple of chirps, before throwing his fin in the air in his best imitation of her pose.

"--Actually, I'd love some sandwiches! " Dawn would reply, eagerness slipping into her tone. "I don't even know what some of the stuff we've been eating is called." she added with a roll of her eyes. "Did Mom make them? --Er, I mean... your mom. ...Sorry." she quickly went on to blurt out and then correct in an apologetic tone.

As the girls and Piplup sat down to eat and Marina searched the area, Marina would get the distinct feeling of being watched. However, nothing out of the ordinary presented itself. At least, not right away. There were very few wild pokemon around, though that could probably be explained by them having fleed from the initial event earlier. One exception to this was an Xatu, standing perfectly still and staring in the direction of the girls.

Marina looked at the Xatu. An odd place for one to be but given what they do, it would make sense, this being the highest point in Sinnoh. Perfect for staring at the sun until your eyes fall out. however, the Xatu was looking right at the two girls. Marina knew enough to know what Xatu sees and oddly... it made greater sense for him to be curious of the two. The most disturbing part, none of the Pokemon present actually give off that feeling Marina can feel. What is watching? Perhaps Giratina? Has he taken interest in Hikari again? No, the feeling isn't as menacing, not by far. It's not Dialga or Palkia, Marina is quite used to their pressure. No other Pokemon live up here, do they? Marina walks to where the Xatu can see her and makes an obvious show that if Xatu tries anything, he will suffer for it. With that, she walks back and stands by Hikari.

"Actually, yes! Mom made these sandwiches for everybody but Clefable didn't want to eat and Dialga doesn't anyway, so there's extras. I mean, it's just basic store-bought meat and such but there's just something special about anything Mom makes, know what I mean? Oh, hey Marina! Anything?"

Marina would gesture to the Xatu and Hikari would nod, "I guess that makes sense considering we are technically past and future here."

It was then that an orange ball with eyes flew out of Hikari's bag and floated over the pair. It looked intrigued at the younger Dawn.

"Mira! No causing trouble, alright? She's been through enough."

"I wazzn't going to hurt her..."

"Well, as long as you keep it that way then it's fine. No messing with her stuff, ok?"

The ball simply spins around Platina's head, taking the image in.

As Marina walked before the Xatu's gaze and sorta ... threatened them, it... didn't actually get much of a reaction. The bird pokemon remained perfectly still and didn't so much as shift its eyes to look at Marina, perhaps blinded by staring at the sun for extended periods of time. Or rather... it was petrified by fear, tense as a cinderblock. As Marina moved to leave it be, she... would hear a comment from the pokemon, who still hadn't so much as glanced at her. "...It grows bolder. ...Hungrier. I almost envy you, with your eyes closed..." the xatu very softly remarked in pokespeak, before falling quiet.

Back at their little picnic, Dawn nodded in understanding. "I never really knew what that meant until I had to go without for a while." Dawn replied with a hearty smile, pausing for a moment to let trainer and her pokemon talk. Next thing she knew, though, an unidentified flying object made a beeline for her! Dawn emitted a little squeak of surprise, recoiling slightly as she tried to work out what exactly it was she was looking at. "...Did... that... pokemon just talk?? Do pokemon here talk??" Dawn blurted out in mild alarm. She hadn't expected anyone to talk, let alone the monsters! She watched the pokemon orbit her for a few moments before deciding she couldn't contain her curiosity any longer.

"...How'd you get ahold of Dialga anyway? Have you seen Cyrus around?" Dawn asked, puzzling over this development. A legendary pokemon, in her own possession... Except not really, because not technically her.

"Mira can talk through the mechanics of the ball as it was built for them. Rotom love possessing machines so I had the ball made with the same tech the Pokedex is made from in Alola that Rotom can use to talk through. Mira quite likes it. Also, Dialga and Palkia called me here one day and challenged me to an honest battle and I caught them. As for Cyrus... I'm unsure if he ever left the Distortion World. I half hope he did but also don't."

"Zzzt! Yeah! Dawn let me play in thizz ball! The technology izz really rare but she got it for me anyway, Zzt-Zzt!"

Mira stood there and pondered the Xatu's words. What is hungrier? The squid that Hiker spoke of? Odd for a Xatu to even speak of future events. Often they're too paralyzed by fear to even move...

"Haha. But yeah... After I saved them, Dialga and Palkia called me here through the Lustrous and Adamant orbs I picked up inside Coronet. It was really surreal, you know. The looks of gratitude and then the glare similar to a trainer's asking for a battle. They were seriously tough cookies though! Dialga gave Marina a run for her money, and Palkia took out Clefable and Mira... But, for the time being, they deem me as worthy to carry them, and so I do. That's uh... really... it. Yeah. Hey, how's Mom back at your place?"

ImageDawn had to process this for a good long moment. Hoo boy. Hikari just hit her with a ton of info. "What, that island region on the other side of the world?" Dawn asked, apparently barely having heard of Alola. "...Huh. That's pretty cool, actually. It must make it a lot easier to communicate." she mused aloud. "So you just ... caught them? Just like that?" Dawn went on to ask, bemused by this development. "...Hear that Piplup? We might have the potential for greatness in us yet!" Dawn eventually continued, enthusiastically rallying her pokemon. Piplup gave her a rather shrewd, thoughtful look in response, accompanied by a lightly derisive chirp. Dawn merely grinned toothily at him in response.

"And Cyrus got trapped in the Distortion World?? ...And we just--left him there?" Dawn asked, mulling this over for a moment. She seemed a little concerned by this development, at least at first anyway. "...It's probably for the best. That guy was a monster. --No offense, guys." Dawn went on to dismiss, before promptly apologizing to the pokemon in the room.

At the question about her mother, Dawn hesitated for a good moment as if she didn't know how to answer this relatively simple question. "...I think she's doing just perfect." Dawn eventually replied in slightly distant tone. "I wish I could go see her." she then added. At this, Piplup chimed in, in pokespeak of course for the pokemon present. "She's not around anymore..." the pokemon explained in a slightly concerned tone.

"Kzzrrrt!! Hey uh, bozz-lady? I'm not sure if--"

"No, I think I get it. Sorry I asked if that's the case. And I didn't try to leave Cyrus in there. He ran off after I beat him in there and then I got chased around by Giratina until I took them out too and left with Cynthia. I honestly do not know what happened to him after that. Also, you have to earn the right to catch Dialga or any other Legendary. They can just as easily break free and leave if they wanted to, even from the famed Master Ball. It sounds cheesy, but they choose who lets them capture them."

"Zzzt! It also really doezz help with the talking! I can talk to people like Chatot can but better, Zzzrkt!"

Marina kept glancing at the Xatu. She was rather worried about the prophecy. Xatu can see what is to come so their prophecies aren't something to turn your nose up at... Marina turns to Mira and tells them something in poke-speak to repeat to Hikari.

"The Xatu there said that IT grows hungrier and bolder. It envied us with our closed eyes.. I'm not liking what he means. Xatu aren't far off from their predictions, and seeing as he lives in such a place, so close to the heavens and Arceus, I'm rather worried. I'd like Dawn to be informed about that at the very least, Mira."

"Krzzt! You got it, Marina! Hey hey! Marina said the Xatu there said some weird thingzz! About how thizz 'IT' grows hungrier and bolder and Marina is worried becauzz Xatu are very accurate with predictions. Zzt-zzt!"

"That so? Well that is worrying indeed, coming from a Xatu... Maybe that Hiker was on to something? He talked about a space squid and the only thing that comes to mind that would lead people to say that...is Giratina, but I don't feel his presence here so he might be still in his little world or at Turnback. What do you think, Dawn? Did you come here with anything?"

ImageDawn was briefly stunned by Hikari's story, mild disbelief hanging over her face for a good moment before she had the presence of mind to respond. " . . . So you just beat him up, then you beat Giratina up, caught a few gods and called it a day?" Dawn replied in a slightly shaken deadpan tone. "--Geez, I'm really glad I didn't fight you. I would've gotten creamed. You're really setting up some huge boots for me to fill, y'know that? Next thing I know you're going to tell me you're the world champion." Dawn went on to remark. At this, Piplup looked between them for a few moments in thought before moving to Hikari's side to signal his apparent bet on that battle. "...It's kind of hard to believe you two are related." Piplup remarked in pokespeak, earning a huffy look from Dawn who at least got the gist of what he was going on about. "--Hey!" Dawn began to protest, before fumbling over her words for a moment as she tried to think of a rebuttal. "...You don't have to take sides, you know!" she sorely chastised. "I'm technically taking your side!" Piplup casually replied, though Dawn failed to gain any meaning from this through the language barrier.

Dawn shifted her attention back to Hikari. "...Cynthia's here too? Oh, yeah. I guess that makes sense. Where else would she be, right? I missed her as much as Mom sometimes. She wound up doing a lot to help me out thinking back on it. Too bad she probably wouldn't even know what to think about me." Dawn replied in a wistful tone. At the question though, Dawn paused and glanced away for a moment in thought. "...Just my pokemon! I think! Honestly, I was a bit busy freaking out the whole way here. That was a pretty crazy show in the sky, though! Also I think it might be talking about me. I'm... really hungry and I've slowly been working up the urge to ask for a sandwhich." Dawn awkwardly replied, apologetically bowing her head.

Meanwhile, Piplup suspiciously gazed at the Xatu for a few moments before running over to it! ...He tripped halfway there, but that didn't stop him from rushing to confront the petrified pokemon. "Hey bird-brother, what's that you're saying about my trainer? I'll give you one chance to elaborate before I peck it out of ya'!" Piplup aggressively challenged, jumping to Dawn's apparent defense. The Xatu held perfectly still once again, and for a brief moment it might not be clear it intended to reply at all. "...Your trainer... is the short one?" the Xatu breathlessly replied. "You're a psychic and you don't already know that?" Piplup remarked rather suspiciously. "...I see... only darkness. No past. NO FUTURE!!" the Xatu replied, abruptly spreading their wings and screaming that last part in a panicked tone. His shrill screech drew Dawn's attention from not far off. Piplup recoiled slightly at the outburst. After a moment, the Xatu lowered their wings again. "...What terrible, innumerable crimes must have been committed... to create such a... deafening silence..." the xatu continued, trailing off into a whisper and lowering their gaze to the ground, their eyes closing. "...Piplup, leave that pokemon alone!" Dawn gently scolded as she listened to what she perceived only as a squawking fit. "--Geez, fine! I think this guy's nuts anyway." a frankly disturbed Piplup replied, sorta slowly backing away from the xatu.

ImageAs Piplup eventually turned tail to focus on where he was going, something began to happen. Dawn gasped and gestured back at the xatu to get Hikari's attention. A purple, shadowy aura was beginning to envelop the pokemon. Moments later, Dawn lurched from the ground with a squeak of alarm as a powerful psychic force gripped her. "What's happeniiiEEEEE!!" Dawn began to ask, only for the same psychic force to then shift and violently launch her off of Spear Pillar, tossing her off the mountain itself! Piplup began to run after her in a panic, but he was immensely too slow to do anything about it other than freak out.

"Dawn!"

Without thinking, Marina had dashed over and grabbed Dawn's ankle before she went over the edge. While she could easily hoist her up, she wasn't about to leave herself open to an attack from the Xatu. She simply held onto Dawn and reserved her strength for enduring what back attacks may come. Mira, on the other hand, came out of their ball and shot a Shadow Ball right at the Xatu. Hikari would also get up and toss out her Staraptor. He would move quickly to be underneath Dawn in case Marina lets go or is attacked.

"You JERK! Why would you do that! You're going to regret that! Let's take him down, Mira!"

The Rotom twirled and seemed to glow with power after hearing Hikari's words. Activating Hikari's passive inspiration and giving Mira an all-round boost of +2 to their stat parameters for the time being. Mira made some blip noises and stared down the Xatu.

"Marina, I trust you and Star can take care of Dawn! Piplup, stay with Marina!"

ImageDawn's scream of fright was abruptly cut off by another yelp as her violent momentum came to an equally violent stop, leaving her hanging there over the abyss from her ankle. Not a position you wanted to be in even if you weren't wearing a mini skirt. She just kinda hung there for a good moment in shock, slightly out of it because of that sudden stop.

The Xatu, meanwhile, pretty much just stood there and took the shadow ball attack, nearly collapsing as the energy passed through it. As it got back up, however, a purple aura finished surrounding its body. The newly descended shadow pokemon opened its red eyes to look at Hikari for a moment before emitting a psychic wave that rushed out to meet the trainer and her pokemon, shoving them back rather harshly, but well--not accomplishing much more than potentially knocking one on their rump.

Instead, the majority of its efforts were focused on Marina. An invisible force rushed out toward Marina and grabbed her as it had Dawn. Rather than attack, the witty psychic pokemon saw fit to violently shove Marina over the edge with her rescuee in tow, putting them both in renewed danger! Could Staraptor carry them both? "--Oooh no!!" Dawn began to squeal as she felt herself start to shift again, though she could do little to help herself. If she owned a flying pokemon, it was currently sitting in her bag ... on the ground where she'd left it.

Hikari stood her ground barely but she quickly shot a look to Marina and quickly returned her so she would avoid the fate of falling off. The Staraptor did drop a bit as Dawn fell on his back roughly, giving a weakened squawk. Hikari was more concerned for the fate of Dawn and her Staraptor than the Xatu.

"Dawn! Starry! Are you two ok?"

The Staraptor stayed behind the cover of the cliff side to avoid more bursts of winds. He wasn't sure of Dawn's well being though but he responded with a screech to let Hikari know he is still airborne.

"Tch... Fighting on two fronts... Also, this can't be a normal wild Xatu to take one of Mira's shadow balls and keep going... Mira, another!"

Mira twirled a bit before firing another Shadow Ball, recently powered up by their trainer.

Whack! Dawn landed on Starry with a thud, promptly clinging to him for dear life. She seemed uneasy laying there on his back though, clearly not understanding how to properly ride a flying pokemon judging by the way she clung to his feathers and dangled her legs instead of trying to sit up or grip him with them. Thankfully, she was a pretty small and light-weight girl. About 71 pounds, to be exact. "I-I'm...I think I'm o-okay!" Dawn replied.

Meanwhile the Shadow Xatu once again stood more or less perfectly still, not even really making a move to dodge as the shadow ball approached it. This time, it collapsed with a rather sickly craw that didn't really translate into anything other than a groan in pokespeak, fainting. This time, it didn't seem to have been able to withstand the attack.

"Heeelp..! I don't know how long I can hold on!" a mildly distraught Dawn cried out. She was certainly doing her best anyway, but upper body strength was frankly not her strongsuit. Nearby, Piplup rushed to the edge of the mountainside and began doing his best impression of an Aircraft Marshall guiding a plane into port with those orange batons using his fins, enthusiastically urging the staraptor in for a landing!

Taking the hint from Piplup to mean there is no threat of attack, Starry flew up to the pillar with ease. Quite used to desparate clinging by now from Hikari when she was first learning to ride him around. Upon landing, he would crouch a little so Dawn had an easy time getting off.

"Oh thank Arceus you two are ok! Marina is fine too, had to pull her back in quickly. Mira, you did good, you can rest up in your ball. You as well Starry."

Hikari takes out the special wing patterned ball and returns the stoic Staraptor to it. Mira possesses their ball and uses their ghostly energy to float it around just like before.

"Zzzt! That wazz scary! That Xatu was a big meanie, you know? Krzzzt!"

"A little more than that, Mira. But I wonder why it suddenly changed like that? It looked like what was described to me in Orre about Shadow Pokemon but... it wasn't right, they aren't wild. They're like, made in a lab or something... I think? I wasn't really paying attention to the curator... But that was odd... odder still that I saw it happen in front of me... What is going on?"

"I certainly don't know. What I do know izz that Xatu was a tough one! That's not normal."

Hikari couldn't put anything together. She only knows enough about 'Mythical' Shadow Pokemon from some history curator in Orre when she visited the big Colosseum, and even then, ignored him most of the time. An act she regrets. But then again, was what she saw even a Shadow Pokemon? It had that blacky stuff around it like the guy described but... This was a wild Pokemon, no way it was Shadow, it had to be something else, right? Yeah, it had to!

"Well um... how about we go inside the mountain before we get attacked by more birds trying to knock us off?"

ImageDawn emitted a rather distressed yet none-the-less relieved sounding sigh as they landed, shifting to drop off, only for the leg she'd been caught by when Marina grabbed her out of the air to fail her, a sharp burst of pain preventing her from putting her weight on it and sending her to her behind with a little yelp. "Ow--geez... I think I hurt my foot." Dawn whined from where she sat. It kinda stung pretty bad now that she wasn't in full panic adrenaline mode. As she sat there, she did listening to what Hikari had to say. "...Yeah, that was pretty weird! I think that pokemon tried to kill me!" Dawn blurted out in alarm. "...Luckily at least one of us owns a flying pokemon. No offense, Piplup." Dawn added. At this, Piplup just kind of placed his hands on his hip and shook his head a little in disappointment.

At Hikari's offer, Dawn placed her hands on the ground and began shakily making an effort to stand. Her injured leg trembled a bit however, and it didn't seem like she made any progress. "...Yes please. I--...I might need a hand though." she lamented. She could probably stand on one leg, but walk? She might need someone to lean on for that.

  1. To our reader: Please do not continue to tag Moon and Ganjalf. Neither of these players have ICly established their presence in this scene. We know they aren't the ones doing it. It is factually incorrect to tag a character as being present before they have made a post in that scene.

"I think Marina might have been too rough on you. Alright."

Hikari took out an electric-blue ball styled after the containing Pokemon's signature move. From the ball sprung a Lucario who looked at the situation. Without any exchange of words and only a glance from Hikari, the Aura Pokemon nodded and headed for the mountain to clear a path if need be. Mira followed the Lucario.

"Caden will scout ahead for us. Come on, give me your arm."

Hikari would take Dawn's arm, on the side of her weak leg, and support her. With that she slowly walked with Dawn to the mountain to get back inside. Once they were, Hikari would sit Dawn down on a rock with a wall to her back. Hikari would look around for the Lucario who would come walking back with Mira. He would make a grunt and a nod.

"Good. Thanks, Caden. I'll have to ask you to stay out for a bit. Marina is probably still a little shook from almost falling off."

Caden, the Lucario, nodded and sat down in a meditative position while Hikari sat down next to Dawn.

"Well, that was scary... Did you want to rest here for a bit or get moving right away? I think a safe place to take you would be to Mom's. I think things would be too confusing at the Villa...."

Hikari looked at Dawn's foot to see how bad she was hurt if there was bleeding or anything.

"Thanks..." Dawn replied somewhat breathlessly as she was helped up and given some support. was somewhat on the slow side given her injury, leaving Caden plenty of time to forage ahead. The worst he finds are some sassy wild pokemon. Nothing that would normally be considered a serious threat to a seasoned trainer. Dawn, in turn, was more than happy to learn on her counterpart for support. Thankfully, she was quite light and easy to support. As they arrived back inside, Dawn plopped down onto the rock and sorta tenderly brushed a hand across her injured leg, pouting slightly at it for having given up on her. "...I'd like to get home, honestly. No matter how rough things get, you've just got to keep trucking, y'know? I-If you'll have me." Dawn replied in mild embarrassment.

(Don't get too comfortable. She can't be trusted.) a voice commented in Dawn's head as Hikari was inspecting her foot. (Why not? She's basically me.) Dawn mentally replied. (That's one of the many reasons why you shouldn't trust her.) the voice remarked. (That doesn't make any sense... She's really nice.) Dawn replied. (...That Xatu saw the truth, and he turned on you in an instant. There will be others. Sometimes, to protect someone, you have to keep your distance.) the voice added after a moment. At this, Dawn's expression fell, her heart weighing heavily upon her. (...I can't. She's wonderful. Please don't make me say no to her...) she pleaded with the voice. (...Very well. But do not say I did not warn you...) the voice reluctantly replied, trailing off and leaving Dawn to her own thoughts.

"So, what are we going to tell Mom anyway?" Dawn asked. Her foot was mostly fine. Tense with pain, and perhaps in need of a pedicure, but there weren't any wounds at the skin level. It seemed to be more of a sprain than anything else.

"I mean, she's heard the 'I went to an alternate dimension' thing before so I doubt this is THAT big of a surprise... maybe.. Also... something on your mind? Your expression dropped randomly."

The Lucario's ears were perked. He may not have heard the conversation but he did feel a presence during it. He would look around for any remnants of it.

"Huh? You ok, Caden?" Hikari asked her Lucario friend.

The response came to a head shake and the Lucario went back to meditating. An act he learned from a human in Kanto. It was quite helpful for calming nerves and just relaxing in general.

As Caden looked around, there was nothing visible to his eyes that might register as particularly... in the visual spectrum. Y'know, other than the second Hikari. But with his aura sight, he might notice something ... a little bit off. While Dawn definitely looked like a younger version of Hikari, her aura didn't match this description at all. In fact, their auras looked almost nothing alike. While Hikari's was likely the same as he'd ever known it to be, Dawn's was... startlingly intense. To look upon Dawn's aura was to gaze into the sun. That is to say, the sheer volume of aura surrounding her was so massive that it made her aura very difficult to read. It was likely a phenomenon Caden would have never encountered before. However, he is unable to pick up on anything else that might be behind the presence he just sensed. It seemed that Dawn's presence was simply rather massive for such a tiny girl.

Image"...Really?" Dawn asked in a flatly incredulous tone, only to quickly realize what it was Hikari was referring to. "Oh right! I almost forgot we both went to the dark world. I never got a chance to tell my mom about that..." she replied, trailing off for a moment as her own train of thought bummed her out briefly. She quickly moved to change the topic though, thinking something up to distract from her actual thoughts. "No need to worry~! Everything's a-ok. I just hope my gym badges are still good here. I had seven badges before I left!" she explained, fishing out her badge case and opening it to show off her pride and joy with an eager grin.

...There were indeed seven badges there. Three of them were the same as the ones Hikari was familiar with, while four were different entirely. Each one of them, however, looked filthy.

" . . . The cloth I used to clean them got too dirty." Dawn awkwardly explained after noticing their worn state.

Caden made note of this but refrained from speaking about it, even to Mira. Hikari looked at the case, recognizing the Coal badge and the Forest badge... The others were foreign to her.

"Hey, who are those from? I can see Roark's, Gardina's and Wake's but... Where is Fantina's or Byron's? Also, if you need a new cloth for them, when get home I can spot you one, no problem!"

" . . . "

Image

"Who's 'Fantina'??"

Dawn paused for a moment to consider the circumstances. "...Nevermind. I think I understand now. Byron left his gym a bit before I arrived at Canalave to go train at Iron Island or something. That's what Barry said anyway. I can't keep up with his legs or his mouth sometimes. He used to say I better hurry up or another gym leader was going to retire before I got to them. ...Pretty sure he's never going to let me live that one down." Dawn explained with a hint of embarrassment in her tone. "Let's get going! I-If that's okay. I'm sorry if I seem a bit eager. Just... Y'know. I can tell you about my other badges on the way there." Dawn offered. She then began to go over each badge and explain their origins.

Image"Anyway, This badge is the canalave city gym badge. I got it from Glyede, the dragon type expert. He was a little weird. He kept on referring to me as a lady or a damsel so I decided to roll with it and on my third rematch I wore the dress I usually wear for contests. Long story short he calls me princess now! So that was fun." Dawn began, gesturing to a badge themed like a medieval tower.

"This one's from Charlie the Fire Type expert. You ever feel like someone's looking at you like you're a piece of meat but then you realize that someone is a charizard and also you're medium-well done? That dude was intense. His gym was like an oven. Which smelled about as great as it sounds... I had to use a lot of moisterizer and give my hair a lot of TLC to make it through that one." Dawn continued, gesturing at a badge themed like a volcano.

"This one is from Glimm, the fairy type gym leader. Glimm was a really weird kid. Y'know how sometimes, boys show you they like you by being mean to you? He was that, but turned up to like 11. I'm not sure if he actually had a crush on me or if he just liked messing with me, but I felt like I was getting bullied my entire time there. Did you know gym leaders can just refuse to give you their badge? Speaking of which have you ever seen your mom yell at a gym leader? I have. That was pretty cool. I think he wanted me to keep coming back every day to see him or something, but... No. Just no." Dawn continued, shuddering at the thought. She gestured to a badge that featured a jagged smile over what appeared to be butterfly wings.

"And this one's from Snowpoint City's gym leader, Pryce. He was an old dude who kinda liked to go off telling stories like I was one of his grandkids. But he seemed like he was just a nice old man looking for someone to talk to, y'know? So I wound up listening to a lot of them. It was kind of sad. Dude had a rough life. Oh! And I wound up rooming with this girl named Candice while I was there? Apparently wearing mini skirts in the snow makes us sisters or something. But she was way nice. Total bestie. She even helped me prep and came to cheer me on when I battled Pryce! We exchanged phone numbers, but my poketch has a dead battery and I'm pretty sure I don't get off-world service anyway." Dawn finished, gesturing to a badge themed like a snowflake.

"Hahaha! Glad to know Barry is the same in every dimension. Hehe... Ahem, interesting you mention Pryce and Candice. Pryce is in Johto and Candice leads the Ice Gym here. As for our own Gyms..."

Hikari would dig out her trainer case. It was a bit dinged up but still looked cared for. Looking at it brought back some memories and Hikari sighed longingly while looking at it. Shortly after, she popped it open and pointed at the badges in order. She stopped upon the triple circles.

"Well, you know Roark with his rocks and Gardina with her plants. However, next was Fantina with Ghost types in the city of Hearthome. She likes to dress up like a Drifblim, her signature Pokemon. Her English is a little broken here and there as she normally speaks French like they do in Kalos. She herself is also a Top Coordinator though she doesn't show up to many contests outside Sinnoh anymore. She normally likes being stylish over practical in terms of her battle style, which is honestly kind of impressive. Though, that's how I remember her back when I ran the gauntlet, could be different now. Probably the funniest quirk about her is that she tends to break into dance here and there as she speaks. Her badge is the Relic Badge. It's similarly shaped to a ghostly aura and is also what she shapes her hair to look like in a manner of speaking."

Hikari moved to point at the badge which was square and looked to have bricks for a stylized decor.

"This would be Maylene's badge from Veilstone. The Cobble Badge. She was an expert in Fighting type Pokemon. She's a little quirky sometimes. She'd rather make the trek, barefoot, from Veilstone to Snowpoint on foot than fly there. I mean, that's what I did but no way am I doing that again. And I had a full winter outfit! She just wears like... whatever those pants are. The martial art pants and a thin top. She may seem tough but she's actually a really nice girl. Her rep is terrifying as you will always hear about how her and Lucario will flatten anything that enters the gym. But catch her outside the gym and she's like, your average girl. It's kind of adorable~ We've gone on a few gal-pal dates in Jubilife."

Hikari moved to Wake's badge and then Byron's, "I'm sure you know Crasher Wake and his wrestling routine and Byron and his Steel types."

But then Hikari pointed to the Iceberg shaped badge.

"This badge is the Icicle Badge given by Candice in Snowpoint. She's a cheery lass, and assuming our Candice...es, are the same, you know how she is~"

Hikari then pointed to a badge shaped like a lighthouse.

"This badge, The Beacon Badge... This one was a toughie. I don't know who your eighth gym leader is, but for us it is Volkner. An electric type master. To sum him up, he had a win streak for the longest time to the point nobody could ever see the league because he was just that good. He became bored of battling because of it until James and I whooped him and he got amped back up, finally feeling a real battle. Now he's in the swing of things. He's... kind of intimidating to be honest."

Hikari closed the case and put it away.

"From there, you go to the Sinnoh League and take on Aaron, the Bug user. Bertha the Ground user. Flint the Fire user and finally was Lucian, a man who used Psychic types. Get through them and you fight Cynthia. Sounds easy on paper but good, holy Arceus did Cynthia not let up. Yeesh."

From that, Hikari pulled out a ribbon case and opened it up. In the center were two ribbons. One was the signifying ribbon to show one's rank as a Top Coordinator and next to it was a Champion Ribbon. Surrounding them were countless other ribbons all neatly curled up to make room.

"That big ribbon there shows I'm a Top Coordinator and the other there shows I've bested Cynthia in battle. The others are from the various contests I've won over the years. See, I'm not a trainer anymore. I retired from that after I beat Cynthia. I went on to follow Mom's footsteps and become a Contest Star but of course I aimed higher than her, I went and won the Ribbon Cup~ Since then, I've collected the ribbons of other regions and have also judged contests too! I will say though, Lisia and Ali have some of the most wonderful performances I've ever seen~ Watching them is always a treat!"

Hikari would giggle as the two of them, led by Caden, exited the mountain into the area by Eterna City. Once they got outside, Hikari thanked Caden and returned him to his ball. Mira set their ball into Hikari's bag.

"It's kind of strange, talking to a younger version of myself, you know? But it sure did pass the time! Now, you didn't seem too used to flying on Starry so I take it you've never flown before. If you want, I can call us a ride? A small plane can land around here."
