Lysaria Lestibournes

A Twinborn looking for some excitement.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by HitoriRaven

Description

Allomancy
Allomancy is one of the three magic systems in the Mistborn fantasy novel trilogy, and is the most prominent. People capable of Allomancy are known as Allomancers. Allomancers have the ability to "burn" (or use) metals, in order to fuel a variety of physical and mental enhancements and abilities. For an additional burst of power, they may flare, or burn their metal especially quickly, consuming it at an accelerated rate, but gaining greater benefits in return. A person who can only burn one metal is known as a Misting. If a person is born with the ability to burn more than one metal, they can burn all Allomantic metals, and are known as Mistborn.
There are 16 metals that Allomancers are able to use: 8 basic metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys) and 8 Higher metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys). All these metals must be pure when ingested, and the alloys must be mixed to specific proportions. If the metals are impure or mixed wrong the Allomancer could become very ill or possibly die.
The Allomantic metals come in four groupings of four metals: Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement. Each of these four groupings has two base metals and their corresponding alloys, which in turn have a related ability. Each metal produces an Internal or an External, an Push or an Pull effect.

Feruchemy
Feruchemy is the second magic system in the series. Feruchemy works differently from the other magics. While an Allomancer burns metal to gain power, a Feruchemist can use these sames metals as holding units, or minds, to store up their own power. Basically, depending on the metal, a Feruchemist can become worse at something in exchange to be equally better in the future. No power is gained or lost.
The major strength of Feruchemy versus Allomancy is the speed at which one can access its power. While a Feruchemist must provide the power for the magic from himself, storing it over time, an Allomancer can simply consume metals to power the magic. However, an Allomancer has limits to how much power they can draw at once; a Feruchemist can draw out the power of the metalmind with virtually no upper limit, exhausting it in one massive burst if they so choose. For instance, a Feruchemist tapping a pewtermind can be far, far stronger than even a very powerful Mistborn burning pewter, if only for a short time.

-----------

Lysaria is a Twinborn, a person who has one Feruchemical power and one Allomantic power. She has to power to 'burn' iron, revealing blue lines that lead to her chest. With them, she can 'Pull' on the lines, which lead to metal. Physics still apply; if the item is larger, she goes towards it, if smaller, it comes to her, and if equal, then both move about the same distance. Mistings who can burn iron are know as Lurchers.
As a Feruchemist, she can store fortune, or luck, in a metal called chromium. While storing, Lysaria becomes unlucky, and when tapping, the opposite happens. Ferrings who use chromium are called Spinners.

As a person, Lysaria lives the life of a Twinborn and a courtly lady. Having her powers has given her freedom, she can be both polite and cutting, depending on the situation. For the most part, she is what is described as a 'tomboy', though the word has not gained significance where she comes from. Adventurous, brave, a bit short-tempered and sometimes foolish.

She wears a mistcoat, essentially a jacket with long swirling tassels, occasionally. Otherwise, she usually dressed in a late 18th century style suit, rather than a dress. After all, it's hard to move in one of those. She carries a flask tied to her belt, filled with whiskey and iron shavings. Lysaria also carries hip holsters that holds two Sterion 36's, six-shot revolvers modified to carry various types of bullets. A steel plate is worn on her chest.

Lysaria has long, wavy, blonde hair, which is pulled back into a ponytail when on official business. Her eyes are chocolate-brown and she stands at about 5'2, making her a fairly small target. She is fair enough, as far as looks go, though for the most part tends to hide anything that would get her noticed overtly.

So begins...

The woman who had earlier gotten the hell out of Dodge now paced down the streets of Wing City, looking for something to do. Her earlier plans of having a nice drink were now ruined, and she was mildly displeased.

However, in her minor rage, she was also extremely perceptive of what was happening around her. With a small Pull on a nearby doorframe, she accelerated forward, turning the corner onto another street.

A voice brushed past her ear and she skidded to a stop. The dark, suspicious alley called out to her. "Eh, why not. Not like I have anything to do, right?" she told herself.

The crash of a trash can made her jump a bit, and from there she slowly approached the noise.

"Rust and Ruin, what is going on here?"

"I didn't do anything yet.." she began, when the battered man pointed at her and spoke. "What? No, I don't have any m-" and she was cut off again when a thud sounded from the unarmed man.

It had taken her a few seconds to process: this was a mugging, and something had just helped take the attackers down. Acting on instinct, she burned iron and Pulled hard on the iron staircase above. Lurching into the air towards the men, she aimed her feet downwards into the chest of the one with the revolver.

"Piss off, assholes," she shouted, matching the invisible voice that was also screaming. "Stealing things isn't cool!"

The woman took a brief moment to compose herself, then shot back, "Yeah, is that what that wailing is? You're lucky people don't call the Ghostbusters on you."

She also turned to face Duncan, nudging him with her foot. "Hello? Little mister cheap-shot and I have scared away those people. You can quit the dung ball impression now."

"Nice kick, by the way."

"Well, seeing this guy, I doubt it'd be the latter two," she mused out loud. "And seeing as how he tried to get them to mug me instead, I'm going to take a complete shot in the proverbial dark and say that it was money problems."

Placing all her weight on one side, the woman stood with a hand on the opposite hip, staring at the man on the ground. "Well, you can call yourself a hero, I guess." Her foot also nudged Duncan again. "Douche move, by the way."

"Yes, do tell me how much money you tried to sell me out for," Lysaria said, obviously still vaguely bitter about being the scapegoat. "And just go kick this boss' ass. Problem solved."

"I don't see how much you stutter is relevant," she quipped back at him. "It's all about what you do, not what you say, unless normal people have been able to kill with words and I haven't noticed."

"That much, huh? I guess if you don't want to say it was a pretty big deal." At Adrian's words, her eyes were also drawn the the tattoo.

"Well, that certainly is a lot. You could always go with my solution. Just kick their asses. Problem solved." The words were spoken as though the answer was as obvious as the trash on the ground. "Yes, yes. Do tell how you got into debt. That's certainly a lot of money, assuming you didn't steal t."

It was fairly obvious way to dodge the question he had been asked, but she didn't press, lest he shut up completely. "I doubt they were prepared for a low blow and...me."

The setting changes from Wing City to Gambit's Bar

Shortly after the strange man had arrived, a woman followed, lurching forward and occasionally up in staggering changes of speed. Nearby, flagpoles and metal window frames bent and creaked as she passed by, Pulling on them. As the tassels of her coat flapped, she began slowing down rapidly, a few meters from the door. After a few seconds to catch her breath, she entered the bar as well, looking for the one-armed man.

It wasn't hard to find him. She quickly ran up behind him, attempting to boost herself up on his shoulders briefly. "Rai, that was mean. You know I can't move as fast as you, and I'm not going to use luck just staying on my feet."

"Tall enough to kill me if I drop, silly, which I will if I can't Push off of things like you can. Unless I Pull about like a monkey, I guess, and do you really want to see me looking that stupid?" She followed after him with a grin, mimicking his actions and grabbing the flask at her side. After a swig, she continued, "I don't feel threatened follow you, I just feel slow. I'm not going to waste luck just to follow you, like I said. You know how long it takes for me to store this stuff up? It's a lot harder than walking around without strength."

Her ponytail flicked about as she stepped past him, heading for the bar. Without looking back, her hand patted the seat next to her.

Her breath caught briefly, but she answered him promptly. "No, I haven't. Have you?" She eyed him suspiciously, then let out a small, "Pah," and ordered tall glass of Long Island iced tea to go with her own meal. With considerably less caution, or perhaps just having confidence, she did not copy his action of checking the bar for danger.

"How've you been without me to take care of you?"

"I...I see. So much for an extended vacation, huh?" she asked, a bit mournfully, but not expecting much of an answer. Her fingers slid the envelope to the space in front of her, where she picked it up and opened it. Pulling out the paper instead, her eyes skimmed the wording before she nodded, replaced the letter and pushed the envelope back to Raize.

"We'd better get going soon, huh? Sounds like this problem ain't gonna solve itself. I'd like to see a Mistborn, too. A real life Mistborn. Hope it's not a rumour...or maybe I do." She glanced at him and gave a half-hearted wink. "Don't like the idea of someone being too much better than us."

Lysaria turned back to him in surprise. She sat quietly, reaching out to impolitely fill her mouth up with her own tea. After swallowing, she slowly asked, "Staying?" The tall glass returned to its place. "You don't want to see yourself? What was the point of telling me if we're going to stay?"

"Rust and Ruin, what? Rai, Ironeyes himself couldn't keep me here. If there's a chance there's a real Mistborn...I have to see. And I'm old enough to take care of myself. If you want me to be safe, then come with me!" she told the man angrily, a frown distorting her features.

"I know you're supposed to take care of me, but I have to find out, Rai. You know how big this is. Don't make me stay here." She reached out for the note bitterly. "They want me to be safe, but they don't want me to see the one thing that means anything to us."

Her face softened and Lysaria took a deep breath and a moment before replying. "I...I know, Rai. I know it's not safe, and it's different. But, I really can take care of myself. You know I'm not just a helpless noble girl, right? You've been with me this long, I hope you'd at least give me that much. Even if it is a rumour, I need to find out. But just for you, I'll stay a bit longer. Let everything die out a bit, and avoid the war if I go."

She placed her hand over his, as if swearing an oath, and met his eyes. "I promise I won't do anything rash without telling you."

"Local weapons?" The woman pretended to look hurt, covering her mouth. "As if I couldn't hit a crook at thirty paces with my Sterions," she said smoothly. "But then again...a girl like me can't turn down some more firepower. Alright, you've got a deal then. Thanks Rai." Without embarrassment, she leaned over to give Raize a kiss on the cheek. It was a quick one, so he would be hard, but he could avoid it if he chose.

"I'm glad you trusted me."

"Well, you really know me well, huh?" she commented wryly. "That's true though. I'd never forgive you for hiding something from me, especially if it involved me. So I'm glad you did. And Rai, Rai. I don't need handling. Maybe a shove in the right direction every once in a while."

Following his lead, she grabbed her own chopsticks and began stuffing her face with her own meal, a simple order of rice and stir-fried vegetables. After swallowing a few bites, Lysaria perked up. "So you never answered my question. Anything else you've been up to that I should know of?"

"You made a friend? Well, give me a cloak and call me the Savior. I'm surprised. And a mermaid at that. Is she pretty?" With a sly grin, she nudged the man, knowing that this line of questioning would likely take her nowhere. After her inquiry, she quickly dug back into the food, wolfing it up quickly. Opposite to Raize, who was taking his time, Lysaria was eating as though it was the first meal she'd had in days.

Her mood dropped like a stone. Though the woman had grown used to the look of her companion, she had trouble remembering at times that people would still be put off by his looks. She had simply wanted to help, but realized that this was probably not the way. "Oh, not much. Stopped a few crimes, like you'd think I would. Came around for a few drinks, met some people. This and that."

By then, her bowls were empty and the chopsticks laid on top, neatly pressed together. A small smile tugged at her lips, gracious to him to trying to make her feel better. "No, you're right. I'm definitely not dead, and I don't plan on that changing anytime soon. So please keep take caring of me, Master," she said with only a hint of sarcasm, clasping her hands together and bowing to him.

Lysaria let out an immature giggle as the noodle hit her, and it was quickly brushed to the floor. "Yes, Master. I'll try not to blatantly flaunt the fact that I can make metal objects fly towards me without any noticeable reason. Besides, if there are non-combatant Twinborn coming, then maybe we can make some friends. More of us the better, right?" She picked up her near-forgotten glass of iced tea, taking a large gulp from it.
