Maria Zhang stepped into the bar, footsteps sure. the key to being here, she knew from the discussions of other officer's was to be calm, confident, and poised. Don't act on every minor violation. There were actually scores and scores of rules and bits of advice given to cops who had never been there before.

Maria disregarded all but the ones about confidence. That she would have had regardless. As a female cop, she has to be confident regardless of what others thought and said. Otherwise the guys would walk all over her, and she wasn't about to let that happen. The blond glanced around, taking the scene in.

There was a fight, but there had been arguments over whether or not to bother in Gambit's. She'd wait, and watch. If it didn't break up, she might call for back up. For now, she'd just observe, to fill out a report later.

Maria Zhang nodded to the man drinking his tea. Wise man, not to be involved in this mess.

Maria Zhang sighed. "I can try. Gambit's is a pretty big no go zone. If you can get him outside, that'd be best." She said simply. Dyew had a lot to learn if he thought medical personnal came in the most criminal bar in the city. Still the woman pulled up her radio and called it in.

"I need an ambulance to Gambit's Bar and Hotel." She listened to the response a moment and frowned. "Yes, I know. I believe so. Yes sir. No sir. No sir. No sir. Sorry sir. Right away sir." Yeah right. She could think the cold cases over here just as well as she could in the station. She glanced to Dyew. "If you take him outside, they'll come right for him." She assured him. "But they won't enter the building."

Maria nodded to Dyew. "I have to call back up anyway. Apparently, I'm not senior enough to be here without it." That was a bummer. "And I am definitely not senior or ballsy enough to deal with that fight." At least the woman was honest about it. She had taken down descriptions of the perps, but there was no way she could actually deal with them.

Grumbling up her breath a moment, Maria radioed for back up for a fight in Gambit's. If anyone responded, it'd be a miracle, but at least she had tried. She certainly couldn't handle that mess.

Maria waved him over. "It just cooled down." She admitted. "But dispatch got onto me for even being here without back up." She admitted. "Something about regulations, baby cops, and the like." She was hardly a baby cop. She was a junior detective yeah, but that meant she had been a patrol cop way before she was a detective. She had some experience. Some.

"I just yes sir'ed and no sir'ed until they finished." Maria didn't pay attention in lectures. It was, probably, why she was being reprimanded more than not. She blamed her brother.

"Warrants." She answered easily. "I have descriptions though. I was just here to think over some cold cases. They still haven't assigned me to a senior detective." which meant cold case duty. No partner, no active cases. Besides, this way she learned their system. Yeah right. Excuses, excuses, Maria wanted to get to actual work. With a partner.

"Claws and the like. Something paranormal about them, so it won't be my division that works with them."

"Maria Zhang. I was in Narcotics, but they'e reassigned me to nothing right now. Probably violent crimes when they finally give me a partner." She shrugged. "And it was a public disturbance, but you're right. It feels a bit slimy to turn anyone into the Judge-Magisters. But I have to do my job, or they'll lay me off." And she didn't need that. "It was a public disturbance, assault, and possible murder, but someone revived the dead guy, go fig, and they have stopped."

Maria shrugged. "Hey, maybe I'll get assigned to you. Cold cases are boring as all get out." She admitted. "But it's not like I can leave Terra. The planet might as well be in lock down mode with our new over-rulers." She wasn't going to respect them. They were not her duly appointed elected leaders. Why should they be in charge? Big guns?

So?

The biggest gun usually made the worst leader. "I'm just glad to be out of Narcotics. Weird shit in narcotics." Some of the drugs were real nasty. "But I'd love to steer clear of the supernatural unit. They're kind of freaky."

"Seriously, tentacles? What'd his mom do, mate with an octopus?" she asked with a snort. "Yeah, I might as well go ahead and get out of here, before dispatch gets onto me, because I was here when something else happened. Who do they think I am, Randin Kaye?" Randin, the heart throb, and thoroughly off limits, cop who seemed to be able to handle anything.

"Man, if he's not careful, he's gonna end up chief one day." Poor sop. She sighed and stood, grabbing her notes. "I hate to do this to them. Maybe just a bolo. Less paperwork for bolos." She hated turnign anyone over to the judge-magisters.

She grinned. "I think he probably has an intern assigned to him, just for the job." she admitted. "I mean, jsut think of it all. Way more than mine." She stepped out ahead of him, amused. Nothing to cheer you up like thinking of the paperwork you didn't have to do. "I hear the Taiyou have a death warrant out on him though. Maybe the Aschen too. You can never tell. I hope he's laying low." Kaye hadn't done anything illegal on Terra, after all.

Maria Zhang shrugged. "I took the bus." She admitted. "Got a couple of odd looks for it, but why not? saves on gas, and the bus fare is reasonable enough." She didn't mind being walked back to the precinct. It'd keep the senior officers off her case at least, and that was more than enough for Maria.

She laughed at that one. "You're never off duty as a cop." She pointed out, looking amused. "And good luck. If they call you in despite that and they will, you'll get your ass reamed. I swear, they'd fire some of us, if we weren't so short already." There was no off duty. There was just off the clock and on the clock. And off the clock meant on call. What if there was a city wide emergency?

That caused her to laugh. At least he had a sense of humor. "I hope I get assigned to you, Bowdoin. Or at least someone as entertaining as you." Something to make the job less a job and more what she had originally signed up for. a way to protect Wing City.

Maria shrugged. "Hey, I lived in the slums before I was a cop. I've seen the reason we need good cops, not corrupt ones. I don't have a sense of humor, I have a sense of survival." She said, strolling down the street.

Maria shrugged. "Sorry about that. Baby detectives going into Gambit's alone gives the brass heart attacks. Just think, you can leave me at the desk. I get to go in and get lectured." All of which would not have happened had she not called for medical aid for some former stiff. Really. It was sad.

"You get the good end of the deal." Not spending the next half hour being lectured by the brass for daring to go to a bar on her own. She paused at the radio call and groaned. "Well, that puts off the lecture at least." She said and broke into a run, heading to the call. She really should have brought her car. Supernatural Threat? hopefully she could handle it. She wasn't carrying any silver or lead on her though.

Maria paused, stared at the troll and groaned. "How do you subdue a freaking troll?" She asked. "I mean, technically, the troll does have a right to a fair trial." Whatever. It was wanting the smash a cop, and, as she was a cop, she considered that a bit of a threat.

She took out her piece and began firing towards the torso, eyes on the Troll. Fires were starting, but hopefully the fire department would arrive soon, and who knew who was in the rubble. "Put your hands in the air!" She shouted, doubting the bullets would do that much. She needed a bigger gun.

Maria dove to the side to avoid the car door, eyes wide. Trolls! Trolls! Where were the supernatural cops when you needed them? Still, the troll hit the ground and Maria was back up, gun out and pointed at the being as she cautiously moved closer. It was down for now, but how long?

"Sir, I'm putting you under arrest." She told the troll, gun out and ready to fire. She didn't have troll sized handcuffs in any way. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed for you. Do you understand the rights as they have been read to you?" Probably not, but she was required to say them again iand again, in as many different ways as it took.

Was that? Seriously. Maria groaned. "Yes, well, now the hoagie stand is broken. tell you what, we'll walk you to the precinct, and buy you a hoagie on the way, big guy, but you can'y bust up places over a hot dog. It's against the rules." She scolded gently. Troll sized handcuffs. She needed troll sized handcuffs. She didn't have those. Well crud.

"Come on big guy. I got to take you in, but I'm sure it'll be just fine." Trolls. You couldn't work with them, and couldn't, well, you could live just fine without them, but they were people too. Strong people, but still people.

"And you did call for back up. I'm Junior Detective Maria Zhang." She introduced herself politely. "Come on Tom-tom." She said, encouraging him to get up. "You have to get up slowly though, and keep your hands where I can see them."

"That's a good thing, because I don't have Tommy sized cuffs." Maria admitted. "And we were on foot." She said, annoyed. "You're the one who called for aid. You get to do the paperwork." She decided happily. "Come on Tom-Tom, up to your feet." She encouraged. "Up you get, we have to walk you down." She said with a smile. "It won't be bad, parole, I promise." and it would be parole. He was a troll, but more dangerous from not thinking than criminally dangerous.

"You bet Detective Kaye. Just promoted from patrol. I haven't even been assigned a partner yet, and who knows how long that will take." She was rambling, she realized. Maria shut up. She'd focus on the troll. She could handle that. Maybe.

She was not a part of the supernatural unit.

Yeah sure, not interrupting. The other girls were not going to believe her if she told them it looked like Kaye was off the market. And what a loss to the eligible ladies of the police department! What a serious loss! Still, the woman nodded in response, politely pretending she believed those lies. "A taxi? Really? No wonder you needed stitches, Lieutenant. Good luck with the case!"

"And don't look at me Kaye. They sent me to at least six senior detectives to look it over to make certain I did it right. I also had to grab the other guys paperwork, and it was his day off." That had been fun. She handed them over glad to get it off her hands. "Besides, I thought you volunteered to do all the paperwork yourself." Didn't she sound cheery on that one.
