So begins...
Nina Sekova's Story
Nina glided into Gambit's Bar, the woman dressed in her usual non-combat gear. It consisted of a pair of dress slacks, a dress shirt and tie with a grey suit jacket over it.
The woman probably looked like some kind of cop already, but the pistol holstered on her utility belt and the handcuffs very visible on it as well set it off.
Nina made her way across the room towards the bar, a small device held in one hand roughly two times the size of your average smartphone.
"Where could she be, damn it?"

Nina plopped down at the counter, putting her device away on her utility belt. Most so that she had room in that hand for alcohol. She needed her favorite drinking arm.
The Serbian mercenary grabbed a menu, not taking long to put in her order for a cheap Russian-made beer. The plan was just to have one or two, but who knew what would happen?

"Mostly trying to kill brain cells, but I can just listen to the average conversation here and start that. The beer is just to make sure they get put out of their misery." Nina told Tenna.
"I've not seen you here before, though I stopped coming here myself. Work schedule changed like... a lot."

"I'm with an organization called The Invictus. We're basically mercenaries or various for-hire types." Nina informed Tenna, "My team began to work with the local law enforcement, that meant I had to actually be out there in the streets and doing stuff. Couldn't come here and procrastinate." The woman said as her beer was slid across the counter to her.
"I'll be having a little more free time, at least until I find someone."

"I get that a lot. I wonder if it's because I'm a woman. Or maybe my awesome far outshines the mercenary side of me. I'd like to think it's the second one." Nina joked, taking a long sip from her bottle.
"You travel a lot?" She asked Tenna, "Judging by the weapon on your back I imagine you're for-hire too." She said, "Bounty hunter? Pilot?" The Serbian mercenary asked her current drinking buddy.

"Nah, I got my own rides by way of the Invictus." Nina told Tenna, "It would be pretty awesome to leave though. Sadly, my boss has a soft spot for helping people." She said.
"The Terrans are the biggest fucking charity case in the galaxy. Pretty ungrateful a lot of the time too." Nina said, taking another swig from her bottle. "Stryfe's a smart woman, I wouldn't be surprised if this was all to increase our public image."

"I am free." Nina told Tenna, "The thing with the Invictus is that individualism is encouraged. Though, like with all organizations or in environments where you have to work with others the cliques, little factions and the overall feeling of brotherhood, or sisterhood, spring up."

"And, yes." She said, answering his earlier question. "Stryfe isn't a hard ass. Well, not to us. People like the Aschen or people who threaten her family? She turns into a whole 'nother person."
The transformation was probably comparable to a bundle of dynamite with a short fuse lit as soon as someone were to test Stryfe's patience or intelligence.
"And, yes." She said, answering his earlier question. "Stryfe isn't a hard ass. Well, not to us. People like the Aschen or people who threaten her family? She turns into a whole 'nother person."

"Maybe you're an alien?" Nina suggested, "You could also just be a secret government experiment and you had your memory wiped and replaced." Nina told Tenna.
"It would probably be ironic if I was right. I think that's irony."

"Hey, I'm an alien." Nina told the man, "Eh... in the sense that I'm not from here. Pretty darn human." She added as not to confuse Tenna or sound crazier than she wanted to.
"Who said anything about letting you go? I'm big on sci-fi, in a lot of those stories some empathetic scientist or something lets the experiment go to live a better life." The woman informed, "The universe is pretty cruel, so the cliche is that more bad happens to the escaped experiment."
"Maybe they become a bounty hunter, mercenary, criminal or anything that requires them to be a loner."

"It doesn't matter. The Aschen fucking suck. I would take a bounty from them if they offered me a fortune and Brad Pitt." Nina told Tenna.
She was going to speak more until he raised his gun and fired at her leg. She wore light armor beneath her clothing, but being the lesser armor it didn't offer as much protection as the others did.
The armor covering her leg barely kept together as it was hit. The woman dropped from her stool, reaching for her own pistol. By the time she had it aimed her attacker was already out of the door.
It wasn't like she could chase him with a bum leg. "Asshole. I think the Aschen had a good reason for his bounty."

"There is The Palace where we stay." Nina suggested, "I'm Nina, by the way. Nina Sekova." The female soldier said, extending a hand to Sonja.
"The rest of these sexy little soldiers are Team Ripper." Nina said, "Our team leader, Preston Emile, medic Taco Nicks, riflemen Chemo Jimenez and Christian Vidal, snipers Patrick Telford and Sandman." Nina told Sonja, gesturing to each soldier respectively.
"Nice to meet you so far." Chemo told Sonja with a respectful nod. "Be prepared the insanity that is Taco Nicks." Vidal warned.

"Check that one out." Nina said, nudging the soldiers to both sides of her. "That guy there." She said, pointing to the man with the Neo-Nazi tattoos. "We, Taco, make racist jokes a lot, but... that is just... something."
"Eh... that's way too normal for this bar, but we can't legally do much until things get violent. Or, at least until we know if that guy was from Terra." Preston informed Sonja, "Speaking of, are you from Terra?"

"Eh... we were here when the Aschen showed up. You want to know how they showed up?" Nina asked, "They raided this bar, started a fight with our organization, kidnapped people, glassed areas of the planet, attacked the military, police." Nina said, "This was just the first few months, it got worst at around a year, even worst at around two years, then three, then four."
"You can't compare any percieved atrocities by 'heretics' as you put it, who probably aren't with the Terran government, the vile, disgusting acts of sanctioned and supported by Raphael McGregor and the others in his camp."

The setting changes from Gambit's Bar to The Palace
"What the hell is going on?" Nina asked as she and several Invictus soldiers began to pour out into the hotel's lobby. A wall of armored men and women in uniforms of varied colors moved to stand in front of Sonja as the security at the front desk pointed to her.
"Let the front gates know we're locking down The Courtyard. Get all of the civilians out of the way." Nina ordered, stepping towards Sonja. "What trouble did you bring here?" Nina asked, her tone of voice making it apparent that she was mostly talking to an Aschen. Aschen weren't people when they brought trouble.

"You were being followed according to the Veritas. Looks like you've given us a reason to make use of our defense system." Nina said, gesturing to the area behind Sonja.
Manhole covers began to slide open, several men and women climbing out of them and taking positions on the street. "That's the Lamia. Anodyne, the Custos and Caeleste will be joining them."
On the rooftops several snipers took positions as the apparent sewer dwelling men and women took their own positions.
From several elevators men and women clad in white, with red crosses sewed into their uniform's biceps, began to leak out. Each carrying medical bags, stretchers and anxious looks.

"This is Wing City, we're prepared." Nina told Sonja, "Mostly for your people."

Nina opened her mouth to speak, but no words left her mouth as she was cut off by a silent voice. "I understand." Nina said, "You got it, boss." Nina said, looking to Sonja. "We'll give you a ride to Langara." She told the woman.
"You can stick around if you wish." Nina told Jayden, "Whoever the people following you are, they don't care about Terran law enforcement."

"What plans?" Nina asked, glancing towards Sonja for a moment. "We're still technically with the Miltia for now, plus Kahuna promised that we'd protect Terrans. We have Terrans here, so..."
The setting changes from The Palace to Gambit's Bar
"Yeah, what that guy said." Nina told Maria as she and the other soldiers began moving tables chairs closer together. They weren't fans of being too far apart, mostly because the soldiers genuinely enjoyed eachother.
"We'll probably let you watch it one day. All of the episodes in order, then Serenity." Nina said to Maria, "Serenity's a movie that was made to give the series some kind of conclusion." Chemo added as the soldiers began taking their seats.
