Personality

Nora is typically the strong/silent type and despite her typical situation, she is very much a people person. She likes being around others but tends to end up study them rather than interacting like a normal person. That is, the rare times she's in a social setting. Though she has never had a steady relationship with a man she can be quite the flirt when she lets her guard down. Above all else, business is business and she knows her place.

Equipment

Against the advice of the military, she tends to not carry any weapon with her unless it's in a syringe.

History

Although her training was medical, her discovery of what laymen call "dead skin" launched her military career. The liquid serum that makes this weapon freezes organic cells on contact. Exposure to skin can cause patches that have to be surgically removed so the unaffected skin can heal in its absence. The devastation is truly felt when the liquid comes in contact with the circulatory system, sending replicating clots throughout the blood vessels beyond the vessel walls that are frozen at the site the dead skin was introduced. Originally, this serum was meant to speed medicine through the body more quickly and efficiently than traditional methods.

So begins...

Nora Donovan raised the test tube to observe the liquid inside swirling from her movements. It had a purple tint but, as it stilled, a blue grit settled down to the bottom of the tube. This brought out a frown on Nora's lips. Obviously not happy with that result, she slid the glass into its holder before sighing and reaching up to pry her glasses off her face and rub her thumb against the side of her nose. "Come now, you can't seriously expect it to work on the first alteration." she coached herself. In this inner lab, she was alone as she was one of five people with clearance to this room. She was in a waterproof body suit that had a transparent film that covered her face and hands, allowing those areas to be seen as the film still filtered air through to her nostrils and mouth.

Though guarded, the room was still partially exposed by the wall of windows on one side. Nora abandoned the experiment for a moment to walk over to the window and look out at the horizon where the sun had just set. She couldn't see the guards outside the door from this side of the room, but she trusted they were there. Safety had become a large concern for her lately, what with what she had stored away in the freezer. Absently, she slid her glasses back on over top of the suit before staring down that freezer from where she stood...

Nora Donovan heard commotion outside. She practically pressed her face against the glass to see around the corner of the building where are the sound was emitting from. Unable to see what was going on, she whipped her head around at hearing her door hiss and slide open. It was only one of the guards urging her to come with him to evacuate the premisses. Nora swallowed hard as the guard urged her again. Snapping to action, she bee lines to the freezer and punches in its security code before throwing the door ajar. She knew one thing, if she was going to be pulled out of her lap, she wasn't going to leave any of that serum behind to be found and replicated. Again, the guard spoke and even tried pulling her out of the space.

"Unhand me! You don't understand the gravity of this! If anyone found this..." she said, shaking her head and lifting the vials out of the freezer. Turning behind her, she places the pieces into a waterproof, padded box. With the box sealed, she snatches it up and finally complies with the guard to leave. They only stopped long enough for Nora to slip out of the suit and put her civilian clothes on, a gray skirt suit with a silk black top. Quickly they proceeded to the west corridor, taking the freight elevator down.

Nora Donovan closed her eyes and leaned her back against the side of the freight shaft, her glasses her glowing in the green that highlighted the controls. The soldier that was with her was at the ready, already training his plasma gun on the doors as they practically crept down the shaft. "Stupid sap," she thought to herself. "He has no idea what he's guarding...I can't ask him to protect me. I won't be responsible for anyone's death..."

Shrrriiiiek. The elevator groaned and stopped. Someone had finally set the security of the building to the fourth and highest level. The doors would all now be refusing override codes, only able to be opened by explosive force. The guard that was with Nora cursed and slipped his gun over his shoulder so that both hands would be free to pry the doors open. It seemed that they were stuck between floors, and just as the guard climbed up and turned to discover that Ms. Donovan was gone, Nora had slipped through the lower level and taken off running. "Nora!" the guard called as he attempted to trail her. They were down in the server rooms now, towers of computers filling the open room. Nora did her best to hide.

Nora Donovan did her best to slow her breathing as she crouched where she was. Although she was tall, she was thankfully still thin enough to actually squeeze between the tower of computers and the back wall of the room. The guard was still searching for her and she could hear his footsteps...Though, she couldn't trust that those footsteps were his. After all, she had just run without looking back. Her hands were shaking as she set the yellow box down in her lap. Doing her best to concentrate, she slid her hands over the lip of the box before pushing in on one latch while sliding the top to the right. This opened the box and she leaned the lid against the black tower.

Taking in a deep breath and holding it, she fetches a sharp out of her jacket's inner pocket. Moving in silent precision, she steadies her hand long enough to stick the sharp into one of the vials and draw out some dead skin serum. Licking her lips, she has to freeze when the footsteps pause and a whisper is heard, "You crazy bitch! The hell are you doing?!"

The guard was still a good 50 feet away, but the interruption distracted her to the point that she didn't see the syringe needle bead up and rip onto her leg. The pain was absolutely searing and she had to literally bite her tongue to keep from crying out. Through her glasses, she looked down to see a spot of gray skin on the other side of her hose. She shut the box again, keeping the syringe out and at the ready.

Nora Donovan hadn't realized that she was tearing up from the pain of her mishap, but it was more noticeable once a tear rolled down her cheek. "Shit...the hell is happening?" she thought, eyes looking to the syringe in her trembling hand. Her breathing was nearly audible as she stayed crouched behind the one tower. Hidden away in her pocket, her swipe card's indicator flashed for a moment while reacting to being scanned. She didn't notice it as her eyes fixated on steps that seemed to be right on top of her.

The guard whispered again, "Nora! Where the hell are you?" Nora wouldn't let herself be tricked. Anyone could know her name, that didn't mean she knew them. Still, it was soon confirmed that it was the guard she knew when he crossed at the far end of the row. He stopped mid-aisle and scanned around, not seeing her behind the tower.

Nora Donovan was startled by the door being kicked in and nearly gave away her cover as three men shuffled into the room. Her eyes were wide, yet still hidden by the glow her glasses brought on. In moments, she has a light being shoved in her face, leaving her wincing and gripping the box against her stomach. Her hand with the syringe suddenly moves as she fakes falling onto her posterior to avert attention from her hand that stabbed the syringe against the soldier's foot. The strong footwear would most likely just snap the sharp, but that would still leave a deadly mess to deal with.

Nora snapped up to a standing position and took the box against her bodice to attempt and run from the men.

Nora Donovan winced as her arm was caught up in the grabbing. It nearly made her drop the box. "You idiot! Be careful!" she barked, pulling against the action. She didn't want to go with these men, but she didn't like the result of fighting them. Perhaps it would be better if she did just give in. After all, they wouldn't even know what the serum was for - not for a little while, at least.

A thousand questions rushed through her mind. Could she seriously let all this slip into the hands of the military? Or was it simply too late for there to be a choice?"

"...I wouldn't let that serum touch your skin." she warned the soldier she had attacked. "Use something waterproof to scrape it off." she added. Slowly, she stood to her full nearly 6 foot stature, letting out a sigh before nodding her head a bit. Going with them was going to be better than going alone...

Nora Donovan could really feel the dead skin on her leg now, limping a bit as she went along. She tried to cover it up by fumbling with the box every once in a while. She paused for a moment, just to take a quick breath. Tyro's shove to her back made her scowl and flash a glare filled with anger at him. "Yes. Let's make the girl with the serum fall and spill this shit all over all of us. You all don't even know what you're dealing with!"

Still, she put up no more protest and continued her run with them. Perhaps in some other setting, the vision of her running in that tight suit might inspire things - but surely they wouldn't notice such a thing. They were professionals and this was a war zone, right? Her hair was starting to fall from the band at the back of her neck, flicking back into the air as she continued to run.

Nora Donovan was definitely not a fan of all this. What was it? A half hour ago that she was locked up in her lab, singled out from the others yet totally safe and comfortable? She couldn't believe how much her heart was pounding. When ushered to the stairs, she tucked the box firmly under her left arm and hurled herself up the steps, pulling on the hand rail. She wanted to look back towards Jackal and Tyro, although it was strange to be concerned for them. They were her abductors after all, right?

She was at the top of the stairs when she Sergeant went just ahead of her out onto the roof. The sun that hadn't set all that long ago, was still giving a highlighted blue to the sky overhead. Of course, most of the light was from the weapons being fired and the ships flying near. Now she had the yellow box clutched firmly in her hands, knuckles white from the pressure. All the while, she could feel that spot on her leg, right above her left knee. She hoped they had a med bay wherever they were going.

Nora Donovan nearly fell onto her knees as she was put onto the jumpjet. When Jackal had taken her elbow, she had instinctively tugged away, only to protect the serum. In fact, the only time she let go of the box was to put it on the jumpjet before getting herself out of the way. Hearing the building groaning behind her, she scurries out of the way in the vehicle with the box regained in her hands.

As her wide hay colored eyes observed the building, she bit her lip as she saw Tyro running towards them. All of this was more excitement than she had bargained for when she came to work that day. As she stood there, she thought to herself, "Get out of the way, stay down...Nothing's going to happen." She had to comfort herself as she ducked out of the way and watched for Jackal and Tyro to get on. Her hands were shaking again.

Nora Donovan closed her eyes and thanked God when she saw Tyro just barely make it onto the ship. Nora pressed her back against the wall and slid down it, setting the box down beside her while stretching out her left leg. Breathing was labored as she ran her hand down over her leg above her knee. Already the area was swelling around the dead skin. Blood that was trying to flow through the frozen veins was stopping at the affective clot of frozen mass.

"Shit...Hey!" she said, moving her free foot to tap against Jackal's boot as they came in. Sweat was beading on her forehead as she cursed under her breath and looked up at the soldier. "Do you have a med bay? I need surgery...now." Grunting, she looks down at the small gray dot in the middle of her puffy, swollen leg. "It's the dead skin, it dripped on me...You have to cut it out." Instinctively, she pushes on her leg to keep the blood from going to that spot.

Nora Donovan growled a bit before snapping at Tyro.

"And I'm going to lose my leg if you don't hurry up! God...idiots." Now she was starting to feel nauseous as she yelled at them. She set her head against the metal behind her while continuing to grip at her leg.

"Just cut it out now." she said, looking at the knife. She figured that infection would be a far better option than amputation. Now dizziness was rushing in as she felt her leg tingling and going numb around the site. She cursed again and opened her eyes to stare into Tyro's helmet.

"Please..." she said in a soft, shaky tone. Finally, shut her eyes again and leaned back, pulling her hands out of the way.

Nora Donovan had her eyes closed but as soon as the knife started in, she had choice but to stare in horror. Just when she was ready to scream out, Jackal offered his glove and she bit down with the teeth on the side of her mouth. Muffled thanks to the clenched bite, her scream sounded as the cut was taken around the frozen bit.

"Mmmther MFFckr!" she mumbled, both hands going to the box at her side and gripping there. Seeing the blood sent an urge to hurl up her throat, but she managed to swallow and fight it back. Her head was pounding now as she fought off passing out.

Tears were squeezed out of her eyes before she opened the lids again, this time to look up at Jackal. He could see it in her eyes, that distant look took over like her eyes were being sucked back into her skull. Swooning a bit, she slumps to the side, releasing the glove.

Nora Donovan stirred a bit at feeling the patch attaching to her skin. In an alarming snap of action, she snatched up her yellow box and slid away from Tyro and Jackal a bit. With the box tight to her chest, she looked down at her skirt that was not stained with blood. For a moment she hung there in a sickened stupor before turning to look at the pair of soldiers.

"What now?" she whispered. What was next for her? Was she their prisoner? A play thing? Or just a mind to be picked apart. A thought passed her mind and she struggled to wrap in words before it got away. "My notes...are in that lab. If they find the notes, they have the serum..." Why this thought had never struck her before now, she didn't know. Being rushed out of the lab certainly didn't help anything.

Nora Donovan couldn't fully understand why she chose to come in this particular establishment, but the choice had been made as she pushed open the door and came inside. She looked a mess, having just finished a several mile long trek across the wilderness and the finally the city. Her reddish brown hair was frizzed and only half in the bun at the back of her head. Blue eyes were half-lidded as she came across the bar and sat beside Sameel. She was so warn out that at first, she didn't even notice the tail. "Water, please..." she asked the server before propping an elbow on the table and resting her head in her hand.

Nora Donovan thanked Zekil and thirstily gulped down the water. Once the glass was empty, she wiped her lips on the sleeve of her suit jacket since the outfit was utterly ruined by sweat by this point. Looking around her, she finally noticed Sameel's features just to her side. "Woah!" she yelped, suddenly sitting up straight. She gawked for a moment before she realized how rude she was. "I mean...pardon me. I'm not from around here..."

Nora Donovan did offer the naga a smile before looking towards Cryo. "Okay...You just became the second weirdest thing I've seen today." she said to the naga she was sitting beside. Shaking her head, she sighed before putting her head in her hands. "If I hadn't just made myself delirious from the heat I was walking in, I'd say that water was really vodka."

Nora Donovan sighed and shook her head. "I'll just stick with water, thanks." Another half smile pulled at her lips before she huffed out a breath and leaned back in the seat. "I suppose it's rude of me to with hold my name. You can call me Nora, if you like...You're a naga, right? I don't believe I've ever met one of you before, not that you couldn't gather that from my reaction." She chuckled as she raised her hand to the server again. "More water, please?"

Nora Donovan quirked a brow curiously at the naga. "Well I take it as an honor to meet one of the few. Throw in that you seem kind enough and maybe I'll let you talk me into a drink...after food, though, would be wise. May I see that menu?" she asked politely, holding her hand out for the paper. Upon receiving it, she would humm and sift through the list before picking out her order. "Excuse me," she began, looking for the server again. "Could I get a burger and fries? Er, do you take charge?"
