Sonya decided that enough was enough. Stepping forwards, the agent slammed the butt of her weapon towards the man's nose with vigour, in an attempt to disorient and knock his head to one side. "I warned you, zombo." she grunted, snapping her free hand out in an attempt to wrench Marreth's arm behind him in a lock. She didn't know how strong this guy was, and she desperately didn't want to find out that the answer was very.

Sonya hadn't anticipated the man's resistance to her initial strike, and growled as he grabbed hold of her wrist and jerked forwards. Despite her capable combat ability, Sonya wasn't (for the purposes of this story anyway) superhuman, and the hand in her hair drew a cry of pain...

A chill went down Sonya's spine as the blood from the bullet wound in Sam's head trickled down his neck. It hadn't even deterred him for a moment. But she wasn't about to give up and let herself become a human shield. That would be the ultimate humiliation, preventing her own cause...

The agent's first hand went up to grip Sam's wrist with uncomfortable force, eyes alight with anger. Her second hand swung up, slamming her forearm into the back of the man's elbow. It would break a normal man's, hopefully get her out of this grip. But this wasn't a normal man.

It might just piss him off.

Sonya scowled, realising that this was hopeless. Depressingly, absolutely, hopeless. "Alright, Marreth. We're talking." she said after a moment, levelly and calmly, though her heartbeat raced. "You want me to walk away, and let you play whatever sick games it is you want to play with Mar.. Vodka, whatever? You expect me to just do that? Do you think me as bad as you, with no morals to be spoken of, no concept of the value of a life? And you might not kill her, Marreth, but knowing you you might as fucking well. Destroying someone is the same as killing them, even if they're still bloody breathing."

Sonya silently prayed that Simon had warned Vodka, and that the woman was escaping even as they spoke. The SOD agent was faced with a choice, as Marreth said... but it wasn't exactly a good one. Death, or signing away the woman she'd promised to protect to this madman. There wasn't really much she could do... was there? This man would kill her if she tried to put up any more of a fight.

Did it make it any worse if Sonya let it happen and saved herself? Surely the woman wouldn't want her to throw her life away...

Morals versus practicality. Sonya wasn't feeling all too pleased with things right now...

"What?!" Sonya exclaimed, glaring at Kiera. "You can't..." The agent trailed off, settling back into a glower. What else could she do?

"...alright, Marreth." the woman whispered.

Sonya Ballifrey pointedly made no such chatter, simply attempting not to wince at the pulling on her hair, and the situation in general.

"You cannot escape justice forever, Marreth." The first words since Kiera's ascent came from Sonya's lips grudgingly. "You can't live out your disgusting fantasies forever, you will be captured, and you will be killed. Even if it takes trial and fucking error to do it, someone will find that one way to kill you."

Sonya added a mental note, that she'd make sure of it.

Sonya would have spat if she didn't think the man would break her neck there and then if she did. "Four years of forcing her into a relationship that she doesn't want, with a homicidal dead man as a partner? That's no life for anyone, much less a good woman who's been trying to save lives from your sick game."

The agent's eyes snapped to as Kiera and the others emerged from the stairwell. She cut off her speech then, looking to Vodka with a pained expression. She had failed, after promising otherwise.

God... it was an awful feeling to fail someone as terribly as this. To be forced to watch someone's life signed away to misery and pain at the hands of a madman... and be able to do nothing about it. Sonya felt like something akin to dirt at that moment.

Grimacing, Sonya moved with the man, the tugging on her hair giving her little choice. She finally understood why the armed forces insisted that it was all shaven off... bloody liability. The agent looked up, to the pair advancing toward them. She registered Vodka's smile only barely. Her real focus was on Kiera.

She had that expression on her face. Barely noticeable. Sonya sure as hell hoped she knew what she was doing.

The aforementioned moping woman remained silent for a few moments, drumming her fingers on the counter top. Leant forwards on her elbows, Sonya was indeed brooding. Not that she would admit it. After these few moments, the blonde woman leant back to glare at her younger companion.

"I am sober, and I'm not moping. I think it's slightly understandable to be less than pleased after utterly failing someone, quite that badly." The agent grimaced. "I would say that it was more odd that you didn't care... but you're you. And will you get down from there?"

Sonya groaned, shaking her head. Damn it, this was not a day when she wanted to deal with Kiera. But she had to -- the girl would never go out and get something for the wedding without being dragged by her hair, she'd probably turn up either in her pyjamas or in jeans and a t-shirt.

"I am perfectly capable of drinking responsibly. I just wanted a glass, I'm not about to down a bloody bottle. Will you go get changed now? The only reason we're still sitting here is because you look like you've just gotten out of bed." Sonya rolled her eyes. Kiera had a... unique dress sense. In that she seldom got dressed beyond her nightclothes.

Occupied? With a damn game, yes. Hardly important. Sonya sighed, doing her best to ignore the muttering girl to her right. She stared at the vodka for a few minutes before shaking her head. She probably shouldn't drink this early in the day.

"Kiera, rather than sit there and play whatever it is you're playing, something which has absolutely no relevance to the world at large, can we please get going? We still have to meet up with the others, and we don't exactly have a small task ahead of us." Finding a dress of any description that Kiera liked would be akin to moving a damn mountain. "Just go, it's not important! Jeez..."

Sonya sighed. Kiera was like a little girl sometimes, it was hard to believe she was only three years younger than Sonya herself. Leaning back on the counter, the agent settled herself in for some waiting. She could predict that the younger woman would take as long as she could, just to irritate her. If she wasn't such a good agent, well...

Sonya blinked at the abrupt tirade of swearing, and her eyes slid over to Terraa, one eyebrow raised.

"Well good morning to you too..." Honestly. Some people...

Sonya raised an eyebrow at the wave, glanced up at the stairwell, and decided that yes, it was still going to be some time before Kiera showed her face, so there was no harm in starting a conversation. Standing from her stool, the blonde woman walked over and took a seat at Drakus' table, rolling her eyes.

"Honestly... these people need anger management classes."

Shrugging, the agent turned her head back to observe. "I suppose not. That's the reason I never come in here on duty, after all..." she said. "And a biting tongue will only get you so far. I'll feel almost sorry for her if she gets eaten by whatever the hell the guy is."
