Sonya Ballifrey walked into the bar, phone held to her ear and deep in conversation.

"What do you mean you don't have any backup? Look, I can't just be expected to walk up to the bloody guy and arrest him! He has a three hundred grand bounty for a fucking reason!"

The blonde woman paused in her steps, folding one arm over her chest, clad in a black jacket and casual tee, denim jeans upon her lower body.

"No, no. Bullshit. I'm just one woman, Sanderson." she replied to whoever was on the other end. "Shit, got to go. Looks like half the place is already in on this deal. Haven't you ever got any tips that aren't just 'some bloke saw him'?"

Sonya frowned. "...no. Right. Whatever. I'm going to hang up now, and you can think about what you've done over my fucking grave."

Sonya Ballifrey stepped forwards, lifting up her badge in the vague hope that it would actually deter a fully blown combat situation.

"Hold on, right there! This is the WCPD, I'm halting this fight, right now, before it gets bloody." she interjected, scowling. "Put your weapons away, before I take you all in for obstruction of justice."

Sonya's hand stayed away from the pistol at her belt, not wanting to provoke an attack. "Let's all just put the guns away, away."

Sonya Ballifrey didn't even move her eyes towards Grenville. "Don't even think about it sunshine. If you don't point that gun away from me this second, you'll have a squad full of cops specifically trained to handle jerks like you coming down on your head like a ton o' bricks. What does shooting me gain you? A bounty on your head in the city with the toughest police force the world over. We take down immortals, buddy, what chance do you have?"

Sonya Ballifrey tilted her head to one side, "I don't have a bounty on my head, dear. That's what being on the right side of the law gets you." she said as if speaking to a young child. A particularly slow young child.

At this point, Sonya moved, diving forwards faster than nigh on any marksman could track and rolling into cover behind a booth. "You have absolutely no reason to shoot me, buddy. I won't slam you on the wanted list if you put that gun away; do we have a deal?"

Sonya Ballifrey pulled herself up with a huff, making a mental note to put the man on file anyway. Of course, it would be a pretty small file - no name, no photo, no history... but it would be a file. Mainly a mental file, but a file nonetheless!

"Now where did that..?" she began, trying to find The Assassin in her gaze. Aaand he was gone.

"Crap."

Sonya Ballifrey lifted her phone up to her ear, tapping in a number with practised ease. It rang twice before being picked up.

"Yeah. It's Sonya. That mission that you sent me on, with no backup, up against one of the most dangerous guys on our wanted list, in the most dangerous and volatile bar in the city... yeah. It kinda failed. I was totally surprised, you know? I couldn't see that coming, at all."

Rolling her eyes at the response, the agent snorted. "I think that my sarcasm is rather necessary, actually. Maybe you'll stop sending me on suicide missions if I keep it up..."

Sonya Ballifrey wandered into the bar, in a rather less agitated manner to previously. No phone was clutched in her hand, and no angry conversation was being had with a distant bureaucrat. The WCPD agent pushed back a stray strand of hair from in front of her face, yawning visibly and blinking at the bar.

She figured if she was going to be spending a lot of time here trying to catch her target, she might as well learn the place. Bastard was harder to pin down than any of her previous cases. There was apparently no intel on him, anywhere. Any and all information she could use was passed along the grapevine from first hand sightings. As far as the WCPD knew, he didn't even exist.

Sonya was somewhat distracted from her reverie, however, as she noticed a man passing her on his way to the stairs, with an unconscious and bleeding woman in his arms. The agent blinked, pausing to turn and watch him for a moment before striding to intercept him at the bottom of the stairs.

"Excuse me, sir?"

Sonya Ballifrey folded her arms, "I was more thinking I might be able to help you. That looks like rather a nasty knock, your girl's got there."

There was something about this guy. Perhaps it was the blase manner in which he shrugged off her approach - a lot of people would be nervous in this position, if their partner had hurt themselves they would be agitated, surely?

"Do you mind if I ask what happened?"

Sonya didn't take out the badge yet. There was no need to cause an incident if there was a believable explanation.

Sonya Ballifrey held up a hand, "Whoa, whoa - hold up there soldier. You hit her, with your gun?" she exclaimed incredulously. This wasn't sounding good at all.

Still, there was the chance that he was telling the truth. It could easily have been an accident. Well, perhaps easily was an overstatement. "And can I ask, what were you doing with the weapon out, waving it around, in the first place? Seems somewhat dangerous, don't you think? Was the firearm loaded at the time?"

Bollocks. That had sounded far too cop-like. Maybe it would slip notice; this guy didn't seem too attentive.

Sonya Ballifrey nodded slowly, blinking, "If your Marie is a police officer, then I'm going to have to ask you to let me take her off your hands. I can get her to a hospital, or just home, depending. How do you know Marie? Is she a relation, or are you two dating, or just friends?"

"I might be able to leave her with you, depending on the relation - but I will have to ask to take a look at her, at least."

Sonya Ballifrey nodded again, offering a reassuring smile. "Of course, I didn't think I recognised her. Still, I would like to examine her with my limited expertise. We have to look out for officers of the law, whether they be on our own force or foreign to us. It would look rather bad if I let a foreign officer go off with a serious injury, without doing anything, wouldn't it?"

The agent was still suspicious of the situation, the man seemed rather unusually reluctant - and there was still that nonchalance. Why would a concerned boyfriend refuse professional help? Possibly out of a pumped up sense of masculine obligation; but surely in that case he would be more emotionally charged? Something didn't add up, and Sonya was going to stall for time until she could put her finger on it.

Sonya Ballifrey took Vodka carefully in her arms, frowning. She made a mental note of this man's appearance - she couldn't exactly detain him based on wild fancy... well, she could. She had done so to others before, but right now she had this woman's health to worry about.

"Alright, don't be too long though. She'll want to see a familiar face when she wakes up." she instructed. Sonya turned her gaze towards Vodka then, keeping an eye on the woman's state of consciousness.

Sonya Ballifrey spoke reassuringly as the woman began to come to, "It's alright, you're safe. I'm Sonya, I'm with the Wing City Police. You took a nasty knock to the head, I need you to tell me what happened. I have a sneaking suspicion that I've just let someone walk who I really shouldn't have let walk."

Sonya Ballifrey stared for a moment. A serial killer.

"Shit."

This was not going to look good on her record.

Sonya Ballifrey groaned, "Dammit. I knew there was something off, and I let him walk. I can't believe I bought him for a minute..." she muttered, scowling.

"Well, at least you're alright. I shudder to think what he'd have done to you had he taken you upstairs as planned." she remarked, still frowning.

Sonya Ballifrey shook her head, "Damn." she muttered, "I'll put his description on file as soon as I get back to the station. Get the WCPD on his case."

Sighing briefly, the agent looked back to Vodka. "I take it you'll want to be contacted if we find anything? Is your head alright, by the way? I take it that it's not too serious, seeing as you're conscious. Do you need me to get you to medical help, at all? Or just home?"

A thought occurred to her, then. "'Marreth' referred to you as Marie, is that your real name, or just a fabrication?"

Sonya Ballifrey folded her arms for a moment, frowning. "You want me to just let a serial killer wander the streets of the city, because he wants you to be the one to arrest him? And if he has a task he wants to complete, surely that's all the more reason to, you know, stop him? When a serial killer wants to complete a task, it tends to be a bad sign."

The agent nodded in response to Vodka's second statement, "Marie it is." she said simply. If the woman had multiple names, then Sonya would just take the one that would find her on record.

Sonya Ballifrey was somewhat confused by this bunny analogy. "...I'm not sure I quite follow. Are all the bunnies metaphors for criminals, or are some of them innocents? And anyway, surely you should be arresting him, rather than killing him. Them. The bunnies..."

Sonya Ballifrey frowned, "But surely in that case, having a city full of officers ready to arrest on sight is a positive thing? Or are we talking a situation where if he catches ear of anyone coming after him apart from you, he starts killing?"
