Sonya Ballifrey's Story
"Well it's not like I could do much." Sonya shrugged. "A gun and a good right hook doesn't get you very far in here." The woman watched Animal stepping back from the fight with wry amusement. Go figure that a ratty catgirl would be angrier than a bloody demon... guy... thing. Must be that time of the the month for her...
Sonya raised a single eyebrow at this. "I find that a lot of people here aren't 'within reason', really." she murmured, leaning back and observing Drakus' 'wait' gesture with folded arms.
"Be that as it may..." Sonya scowled, looking to Animal. "...Christ that thing's loud. Anyway... let's not provoke it any more. That way lies unnecessary exertion, I'm supposed to be going dress shopping today, not getting involved with angry bar patrons."
Sonya nodded, "I'm aware of the physics, it fires at around one thousand five hundred feet per second. That's gonna hit most things, within reason, as you said. My point is that a great deal of people who hand around here aren't 'within reason'. I mean, some of you, sure - hard to judge that though, from my perspective."
Sonya blinked. "I'm not sure I'm quite following you. Are you saying that I should just shoot people, and justify it by the fact that I couldn't be certain that it would kill them?"
Sonya Ballifrey shrugged. This guy seemed trustworthy enough. Retrieving her pistol from the holster under her jacket, Sonya proffered it. "If you turn around and shoot someone other than the dart board now, I'm going to be so pissed off."
Sonya facepalmed. "What did I just say?" she muttered, shaking her head. She wasn't honestly too bothered. Anywhere else in the city, sure, but here? Not really.

Physics took this moment to rage.
Physics was screaming like a little girl.Dammit, just because magic exists doesn't mean you can ignore me! Stop ignoring me!
I am not nonexistant! I happen! Gravity, friction, general constraints of normal existance, they still exist! Just because some people can have abilities with surpass me, doesn't mean that I don't exist for normal things like motion and time! Raaaaaage!
Sonya Ballifrey stared at Drakus. "Did you actually... actually just say that? Take those off, you... can't even possibly begin to comprehend how embarrassed you should feel right now."
"I already solve crimes using science, actually. That's what the police do. Now can I have my gun back? I might be off duty and in the one place in the city where we don't give a shit, but it's kind of a bad image..."
Physics rolled its metaphorical eyes.
I've said it once, I can say it again. Magic co-exists with physics - me - in this realm, therefore just because you can do things that physics would normally forbid using magic, doesn't mean you can ignore physics. You don't have magic that makes you suddenly able to process and react to things faster than is possible, therefore you cannot dodge bullets, or react to them in a manner that is appropriate to anything in the way of 'not being shot'.
Physics would like to point to its disclaimer that all of these things are caused by abilities that specifically state that they can do those things. People cannot dodge bullets, without an ability specifically enabling them to process and react faster than normal, or slow time. In the matrix, the whole thing was a damn computer world anyway, so people were just lol-haxing it. Time travel and ghosts are entirely unrelated, and co-exist with normal physics.
Sonya blinked. "Uh, no thanks. I'll just not mention it. Period." she said, "Now, gun?" The agent held out an expectant hand.
Sonya laughed, folding her arms and lifting an eyebrow. "I'll make sure to be careful then." she stated.
Taking the hand with a nod, Sonya smiled. "Sonya Ballifrey. I've seen better, but hey. At least I'm unlikely to get shot going shopping."
"Special Operations Department." Sonya nodded, "We never come in here on duty, unless something big is going down, this place is essentially a lost cause."
Sonya shrugged. "Our Commander is working on that, her team have the big guns. She handles any serious disturbances here, but it's too much of a high maintenance, high casualty job to be constantly upheld. We take calls from here, but we don't actively patrol."
