Winter Sakkio

"Juuuuuust passin' through!"

0 · 1,957 views · located in Fuchsia City

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by NeverEndingFlip

Description

Name: Winter Sakkio

Age: Sixteen

Gender: Male

Weight: 165 lbs

Height: 6'2"

Hair Color: Snow White

Eye Color: Crisp Blue

Skin color: As Caucasian as possible.

Apparel: Often wears a long sleeved white T-shirt with blue jeans with standard shoes, socks, and unmentionables. He tends to take a simplistic approach to style, meaning that's all he wears for the most part. His only accent is a necklace with a blue water drop, signifying a potential preference to Water-Type Pokemon.

Personality: Winter is calm, cool, and collected. While he speaks with directness in battle, he will often talk softly and confidently to other people. His youthful appearance as well as his overall neutral demeanor gives the impression that he's relatively inexperienced. When looking at a person with his blue eyes, most people always get the impression that he's looking through them, like he's in their head somehow viewing their thoughts and planning around them. He's relaxed towards life and tends to enjoy the philosophy of stopping and smelling the roses.

Personality: The Pokemon that forms the closest bond with Winter, Lucky was Winter's starter and together they've been through just about everything on his adventure. Winter and Lucky made the joint decision not to let the Squirtle evolve. Winter made that decision because he loved his starting Pokemon just the way he was and it also brought along a Facade for Lucky to hide behind during battle. Lucky agreed because he didn't want to change into what he believes to be the Brutal Blastoise and also because he enjoys the rides he takes on Winter's back and doesn't want to lose that. Lucky is a very smart Pokemon. He is often independent in a lot of ways and in many ways, the relationship between him and Winter is a mutual partnership in terms of battle. Lucky understands why Winter chooses what he chooses in terms of moves, but if he knows it's a wrong choice, Lucky will adjust on his own. For the most part, Winter is okay with this.

Moveset:
Hydro Pump- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is blasted by a huge volume of water launched under great pressure.
Iron Defense- (Steel-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Move. The user hardens its body’s surface like iron, sharply raising its Defense stat.
Aqua Tail- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user attacks by swinging its tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm.
Surf- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. It swamps the entire battlefield with a giant wave. It can also be used for crossing water.
Blizzard- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. A howling blizzard is summoned to strike the foe. It may also freeze the target solid.
Brick Break- (Fighting-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user attacks with tough fists, etc. It can also break any barrier such as Light Screen and Reflect.

Abilities:
Torrent- Powers up Water-type moves in a pinch.
Rain Dish- The Pokémon gradually recovers HP in rain.

Personality: Flow is one of the three Eevees Winter found during his travels and is the second one to evolve once Winter managed to find a Water Stone. In Winter's primary set, he will often switch between Flow and her other two Pokemon brothers. This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Flow is very affectionate towards Winter as he saved her and her brothers' lives. Because of this, Return hits very hard. She is often the most affectionate one, so Return hits the hardest with her. Extremely territorial when it comes to Winter, she finds trust issues in those that hurt him and will likely guard any human Winter chooses to let close.

Moveset:
Return- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A full-power attack that grows more powerful the more the user likes its Trainer.
Scald- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user shoots boiling hot water at its target. It may also leave the target with a burn.
Rain Dance- (Water-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns, powering up Water-type moves.
Acid Armor- (Ghost-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user alters its cellular structure to liquefy itself, sharply raising its Defense stat.
Muddy Water- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks by shooting muddy water at the opposing team. It may also lower the targets’ accuracy.
Aurora Beam: (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is hit with a rainbow-colored beam. It may also lower the target’s Attack stat.

Abilities:
Water Absorb- Restores HP if hit by a Water-type move.
Hydration- Heals status problems if it is raining.

This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Hyper is the jumpy one of the three and is often seen running around. He is very affectionate towards Winter for saving his life as well as the lives of his siblings. Because of this, Return hits much harder with him. Hyper may be the most gullible of the three as is too lovingly hyper when around any human. He is notorious for leaping on other trainers and tackling them to the ground.

Moveset:
Future Sight- (Psychic-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. Two turns after this move is used, the foe is attacked with a hunk of psychic energy.
Morning Sun- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user restores its own HP. The amount of HP regained varies with the weather.

In Winter's primary set, he will often switch between Glist and his other two Pokemon siblings. This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Glist is the hardened one of the group as he is only loyal to Winter and Winter alone. He is very affectionate towards his trainer, all thanks to Winter saving his life as well as his siblings'. Because of this, Return is very effective with him. He often has trust issues outside Winter, his Pokemon, and his siblings. Keeping shy when others interact with him, he likes to lay from afar and watch. If Winter gets in trouble, Glist is only one leap away from going against anyone who dare attack him.

Moveset:
Return- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A full-power attack that grows more powerful the more the user likes its Trainer.
Frost Breath- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user blows a cold breath on the target. This attack always results in a critical hit.

Rio ended up in Winter's possession as one of the last Pokemon Winter caught in the Kanto region. It had taken the combined power of Flow, Hyper, and Glist to take him down on Mount Silver. To get on his good side, you have to prove your mettle against him.

Personality: Mane is by definition the odd duck of the bunch when it comes to Winter's team. While his team comprised mostly of Water and Ice Types, Mane was one of the weirdest friends Winter ever made. Winter was given him as a Cyndaquil by his first trainer who didn't want him anymore due to his utter hatred for Pokemon battling, not of Pokemon themselves. Surprisingly, Winter and Mane hit it off very well and he is now one of the regulars on Winter's front six as the plot twist for anyone who thinks they're fighting just a water trainer. Mane is rather lazy and enjoys laying on top of Winter when he sleeps, a habit formed as a Cyndaquil that he never grew out of. He is a fierce fighter, however, and protects Winter like a father protecting his cub. After all, he did take Mane in when no one else would.

Moveset:
Flame Wheel- (Fire-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user cloaks itself in fire and charges at the foe. It may also leave the target with a burn.
Inferno- (Fire-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks by engulfing the target in an intense fire. It leaves the target with a burn.
Swift- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. Star-shaped rays are shot at the foe. This attack never misses.
Protect- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. It enables the user to evade all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession.
Double-Edge- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A reckless, life-risking tackle. It also damages the user by a fairly large amount, however.
Solar Beam- (Grass-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. A two-turn attack. The user gathers light, then blasts a bundled beam on the second turn.

Personality: Sumo, being the Shiny Shucke she was, was always used to attention. So when Winter and his team passed on by without a second thought, she wasn't going to have any of that. She literally followed them until Winter decided to capture her...just because she wanted to be. Since then, the two have always been together. Sumo's defensive capabilities are mightily impressive despite having nearly zero offensive capabilities upon catching her. But Winter was patient and more than willing to teach her. Now, she is often found as one of the toughest opponents to take down on his team. It does take a lot of food to sustain her, however!

Moveset:
Encore- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user compels the foe to keep using only the move it last used for three to seven turns.
Power Trick- (Psychic-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user employs its psychic power to switch its Attack with its Defense stat.
Bug Bite- (Bug-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user bites the foe. If the foe is holding a Berry, the user eats it and gains its effect.
Rest- (Psychic-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user goes to sleep for two turns. It fully restores the user’s HP and heals any status problem.
Earthquake- (Ground-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user sets off an earthquake that hits all the Pokémon in the battle.
Toxic- (Poison-Type) A damage dealing Status Effect. A move that leaves the target badly poisoned. Its poison damage worsens every turn.

Abilities:
Gluttony- Encourages the early use of a held Berry.
Sturdy- It is protected against 1-hit KO attacks.

Personality: Derp is a Pokemon Winter caught just because he looked like fun. A great fighter and an even greater companion, Derp is one of the weakest members of Winter's group of Pokemon simply because he doesn't put him in battle enough. That's fine with the Quagsire, as he's not really up for getting his butt knocked around either. He's more like the mascot for Winter's team and his personality. Don't get him wrong, though. He'll fight if he has to and is still a fairly tough Pokemon to beat for anyone not expecting him. His charming and derpy grin has a way for throwing unsuspecting trainers.

Moveset:
Slam- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The foe is slammed with a long tail to inflict damage.
Surf- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. It swamps the entire battlefield with a giant wave. It can also be used for crossing water.
Dive- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A two-turn attack. The user dives underwater on the first turn, then hits on the next turn.
Mud Sport- (Ground-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user covers itself with mud. It weakens Electric-type moves while the user is in the battle.
Safeguard- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user creates a protective field that prevents status problems for five turns.
Yawn- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user lets loose a huge yawn that lulls the foe into falling asleep on the next turn.

Personality: Articuno acts in any way a Legendary Bird should. While Winter did technically defeat it in battle, he decided against catching it in fear of upsetting the balance the Legendary birds set across the land of the Kanto/Johto region. He also didn't want to catch a Pokemon who wasn't willing to join him and especially one that he wouldn't be able to strategize with. Instead, they became friends. At the call of a whistle, Articuno typically shows up to aid in the fight. Winter chooses to call him in cases of extreme emergencies that the Freeze Pokemon could help him in.

As the newest and the weakest addition to Winter's team, she doesn't exactly find a lot of love in anywhere except combat. She falls a bit on the mischievous side and enjoys playing cruel pranks on Winter and his team. While the other Pokemon ignore her or shoot daggers in her direction, Winter stares at her with affection, like he sees something more from her than her current behavior lets on. Meanwhile, Rio keeps the Weaville from going too far, typically in a brutal fashion. Weaville is the Pokemon that likes Winter the least, making Frustration one of his more powerful moves. Winter has still not decided a name for this Pokemon.

Moveset:
Icy Wind- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks with a gust of chilled air. It also lowers the target’s Speed stat.
Dark Pulse- (Dark-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts. It may also make the target flinch.
Hone Claws- (Dark-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user sharpens its claws to boost its Attack stat and accuracy.
Frustration- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A full-power attack that grows more powerful the less the user likes its Trainer.
Metal Claw- (Steel-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The foe is raked with steel claws. It may also raise the user’s Attack stat.

History: Winter was born ironically in the summer. Both of his parents are big in their hometown where his dad is an extremely successful scientist and his mom is the local Pokemon expert. They both primarily focus on Water-Types and wish for his son to be a dominant Water-Type master. However, Winter had somewhat higher ambitions. While he never wanted to lose touch with his roots as primarily Water-Type, he wanted to expand into something much more intriguing to him. At the age of ten, he got his starter, a Squirtle he affectionately named Lucky. Together, the ventured out into the world to achieve his ultimate goal, starting small and then aiming higher and higher.

High enough to become the champion, that is.

After a legendary showdown against Lance, the interim champion who took the place of Titania after she stepped down, he took him out using only four Pokemon, earning his place in the Hall of Fame and claiming his throne as the Champion of the Kanto and Johto Region. Since then, the year has passed quite smoothly for him as he was introduced to the Region in a new light. Apart from a spar with a Team Rocket affiliate in his hometown of Celadon City, a near death experience in the Ice Path that helped him befriend a Suicune, his travels through the Johto Region with a foreigner from Terra, and a showdown against an unlikely opponent that garnered another friendship, nothing of massive significance happened to the Region as a whole.

But that didn't mean he had yet to do anything. In a promise to Titania, the former champion, he went up to Mt. Silver and challenged the unshakable robotic figure only named "Blue". The two battled, but in an unfortunate incident, one of Blue's Pokemon disappeared onto the mountain. Stopping the match, Winter offered to help her find it, making an acquaintance out of the machine. He had also helped Touko and Fuchsia City's Gym Leader investigate a mysterious crime scene in which a place only known as The Reginald Estate was vaporized by a mysterious blast.

Since these adventures, Winter has proven himself as a face to the people he now holds a public office for and has earned their trust. He hasn't stepped into the national politics as of yet, however. He hasn't even met face-to-face with Grand Champion Iris yet, even though the door is open for him.

So begins...

The explosion happened and Ak-Mun's vision went white with the fury of the ice and snow. There wasn't much he could do but cover his face with his arms and dig his feet into the ground. When the blast was over, Ak-Mun waited impatiently to see if Garydos still stood. Alas, the mighty dragon still stood with small ice-cycles hanging off of his mouth.

The black Garydos stood tall, but it was easy to notice his heavy breathing and the anger in his eyes. Garydos was standing by sheer will power and nothing more, something Ak-Mun took notice to a lot, contemplating whether to end it or go on. The thought occurred before Garydos let a massive roar towards the Aerodactyl and broke into an Outrage on the ancient beast. Garydos bit, blasted, and beat against the Aerodactyl in an unforgiving rage that went on for some time.

When the attack ceased, Garydos gave Winter a harsh stare before he hit the ground. Garydos fell to the ground, his head falling backwards to land beside Ak-Mun. Ak-Mun didn't watch to see how Aerodactyl responded, watching only Garydos. Ak-Mun retrieved his Garydos and looked at Winter, wondering if Aerodactyl still flew or what his condition was.

Ak-Mun said nothing till everything with the battle was said and done. His team had been beaten, but not without trying. In fact, Ak Mun had never been forced to battle with this much power, having just evolved his Pokemon and knowing attacks that he had seen before. He still had his bases covered and prepared whatever could be said or done by Winter.

But Winter didn't even let the Outrage breach the surface of existence. With a sudden finger jab forward, the Indigo Champ decided to end this conflict, here and now, before any more damage could be done to the roadway. He knew it wasn't Ak-Mun's intention to take out a street in the duration of a battle, but he thought it best not to push it.

"Rio, let's finish this right! Thunder Fang, go!"

The Aerodactyl let loose a mighty roar before charging forward, it's teeth crackling with an electricity that would rip the Gyarados a sunder. Gyarados would be focused on charging forward with it's attack to dodge. Unfortunate for it, however, as Rio was superior in speed and would unleash the bite of his own before the Gyarados could do what it wished to. Not to mention how vulnerable it was to Electric-Type moves, much more vulnerable than any standard Water-Types.

Gyarados collapsed, his head landing beside Ak-Mun. Rio flew in the center of the arena to gather all the attention. A chorus of applause and whistles erupted as the fight had reached it's end. Winter proved his mettle as a trainer and a champion.

"Rio, return!" Winter called forth the PokeBall and the Aerodactyl obliged. Smiling politely as he retrieved his PokeDex, he disabled the application that had been used to create the equal strength between the combatants, glancing up as the arena barrier receded around them. The applause carried through as Winter stepped around the massive crater they made together and met Ak-Mun on the other side.

"You are a great fighter and a skilled combatant, I must say," he said with sincerity behind his tone, "You fared much better than Lance ever did. That alone makes you commendable by a larger margin than standard trainers."

Murmur went through the crowd at the mentioning of the interim Champion Winter had beaten to claim his spot as the Indigo Champion. This was the first time any information about the Champion-tier battle had been spoken outside of the Indigo League other than the fact that Winter had won. No one knew it was by as large a margin as it was.The spectators watched as Winter extended a hand for the other boy to shake.

"Thank you for the opportunity to battle," Winter added with a smile.

"You're the first real battle i've ever had... no strategy... nothing but bullish moves that are easily knocked down. One day we'll battle again and that field won't be in place..." Ak-Mun spoke as he attempted to take off.

Before Ak-Mun could fully turn around, he was nearly tackled by the nurse that was flirting with him earlier. After a long, tight, hug, she let go and took hold of his pokeballs. Ak-Mun looked at the nurse like she was crazy, but at the same time he saw her desire to care and please.

"Your Pokemon are beautiful, Ak-Mun! I've never seen such magnificently colored Pokemon in all my life... But with such a handsome and strong trainer like you, I see where they get their looks." The nurse spoke as she winked and turned to take his pokemon inside for treatment.

As the nurse walked off, Ak-Mun turned back to Winter, where he'd notice the teenagers watching him earlier come towards him. Even if Ak-Mun wanted to get another word in with Winter, he didn't have a chance. Noticing he was going to have some Q&A, he took off into the Pokecenter to exit the scene and get away from the others.

Once inside, Ak-Mun answered the teenagers questions, showed them his swords, and even gave them his pokedex number so that they could all communicate. Ak-Mun knew he had followers in this group of people, and with such, made him more welcomed here and able to do business without being deemed a bad guy at every sight.

After a few minutes, the nurse came and ran off the people. When the Pokecenter was cleared out and the night shift nurse took over, she moved over to Ak-Mun, wrapping his left hand around the back of his neck and plopping into his lap. With a innocent smile and sparkle in her eye, she used her charm to ask Ak-Mun a question, "My shift is over. Where are we going for dinner?"

Ak-Mun didn't respond for a minute, pondering on what she really wanted from him, "I don't know, i'm not from here. What do you suggest?"

"We could stop by a Ramen shop and go to my place. We can watch a movie, eat some dinner, and relax. I'm sure you're tired and need a place to stay for the night, so what do you think?" She spoke, brushing her red bangs to the side as she blinked slowly.

"Ah..er...uh..." Ak-Mun started to blush when it hit her she was serious, "Okay. Lead the way."

With that, the nurse and Ak-Mun took off into the city. People looked at him, some good, some bad, as the two passed through the city till they reached their final destination. From that point on, if anyone wanted to know what happened, they'd have to question the walls.

The next morning, Ak-Mun woke up with a throbbing headache and wrapped around the nurse, hidden within thin sheets that covered the two from the waist down. Ak-Mun turned his head to the nurse who was smiling in her sleep and pecked her on the forehead before he got out of the bed and got dressed. Ak-Mun left a note with his number on her night stand and slipped out the front door and back into the city.

It was morning time and Ak-Mun wanted to find Winter. He needed to know how to obtain Gym Badges and fight the league Winter just fought. Good or bad, Ak-Mun wanted to be a pokemon master after this battle and losing.

Winter didn't even bother cutting in with an interjection to Ak-Mun's statement. Truth be told, he used some bullish moves and some simple sets in fighting the boy. He didn't bother with strategy because he didn't need it with him. He didn't even use some of his elite fighters. Weavile was the least experienced on Winter's team to begin with and Mane was his style switcher. Rio was the only high-octane performer and was capable of bringing down such brutes like Gyarados. Had he wanted to really been unfair, he would've won the fight with just one Pokemon. But it was more than that. Ak-Mun may have had some power hitters, but he was nowhere near developed a trainer as the Indigo Champion was. Winter even saw Ak-Mun evolving his Pokemon right before battling him. He knew this would be his first test fight with them. He took it easy on the lad and beat him by the margin he needed to beat him by. Ak-Mun may have not known it, but Winter was in control of this fight from start to end.

Still, that also didn't mean he implemented no strategy. Rio was set up the way he was for a reason. Same for Mane and Weavile. There was some strategy in the moves they learned and the way they performed them. Each Pokemon on Winter's team had their role...even the ones who weren't on his main team of six. Like Weavile. They knew how to be effective together and perform like a team, some more disapproving of that concept than others. Nevertheless, it was why they worked so well together.

As Ak-Mun walked away with the nurse from the Pokemon Center, the Regional Champion was swarmed by countless trainers of old and young. The media stood from the far grounds, taking pictures and writing down notes. News reporters had their films rolling the entire time and the impromptu interviews would begin. Winter suddenly found himself in front of a variety of cameras, microphones, and people of various shapes and sizes.

"Yes Dave, and I am here in the middle of Celadon City with the new Champion of the Kanto and Johto Region, Winter Sakkio! Winter, this was your very first battle as the reigning champion to the public view. Was this battle any different from your other battles now that you have the word 'Champion' listed beside you name?"

Winter smiled politely at the reporter, "No, I don't think so. A title is just a title. I wouldn't dare change my team, strategy, or anything just because I'm the current Champion."

"And Winter, how did this battle go?"

"It was alright, I guess. I did what I needed to do to win."

"Now, there were words said between the two of you that seemed to be as tactical as the fight itself. Can you explain what that was all about?"

"Nothing of too much significance. I was curious about the nature his Pokemon seemed to express themselves with and he didn't take too kindly of that, so...it's natural to be curious to a new form of training the world had yet to be seen. He didn't want to explain it. It's all fine, though."

"And your theories on what might be the cause of their unique appearance?"

Winter merely shrugged, "Your guess is as good as mine. Had I not had the simulation running, I would've scanned them into my PokeDex to see if anything different popped up. But y'know...only so much that can be done."

"Alright Winter. Thank you for your time."

"Thank you," Winter shook the reporter's hand and turned to Lucky, "Alright buddy. Let's go to the Gym! Maybe watch a few battles before we hit the sack."

"Squir squir!" the Squirtle nodded excitedly and hopped onto Winter's back. The duo made their way to the outlandish mushroom-coated building that stood out from the rest, an air of confidence in their step and a surge of understanding in their smiles.

The next morning, Winter was already gone. He'd left Celadon City early, taking his buddies with him. No one saw him leave and no one knew where he was heading next. The Mayor would open his bank account to notice he received a generous donation of 130,000 Poke, the exact amount Ak-Mun had stolen from the League Champion. With it came a little note, saying this:

Sorry about the hole in the roadway. This should more than suffice to repair the damages. You can use the rest to better the town to your liking.
Sincerely,
Winter Sakkio

"Squirrrrrr-tle!" Lucky crossed his arms over his chest and shivered from the cold, all the while staring at Winter indignantly.

"Oh, come on buddy," Winter tried to reassure him, "We need to be at our best when we go up against that android Titania told us about. This climate training will do wonders in helping out with that!"

The trainer could hear the distant grumble in his best friend's throat. Lucky seemed very distant towards the idea as they made their way through the Ice Path. Winter could sympathize. He was pretty cold too. He purposefully dressed a little bit lighter than one should be upon crossing through this terrain so as to strengthen himself to the conditions. Mount Silver was a cold place after all. And if Winter could make it here with nothing more than a parka and a sweatshirt, he could make it there fully prepared.

Winter continued to keep the mood light, "Remember when we took this path through to get to Blackthorne City and beat Veena to the Gym Badge? Man, Glist loves this place...I can understand why."

Lucky hopped onto Winter's side and proceeded to tap the PokeBalls, letting Winter know he should probably let them explore.

Winter understood immediately, "Oh, you're right! They didn't get much chance to explore last time, did they? Alright, come on out guys!"

A bunch of noise was made as the PokeBalls on Winter's belt were opened one by one, releasing the Pokemon inside. Flow, Hyper, and Glist were the first three out. The Eevelutions immediately swarmed Winter with love and warmth. Winter was nearly knocked onto his butt by their affection.

He laughed, "Okay, guys. Settle down. Go explore for a bit. Find some interesting things."

Glist was the first to oblige by this. The Glaceon was home in this ice world and he wanted revel in it much longer than he got to the last time he was here. He set off towards the walls, looking up at them expectantly. Hyper and Flow set off together, looking for anything interesting that stood out.

Derp was the next to come out. The Quagsire tapped his foot against the ice and appeared to study it, "Sssssiiiiirre?" it seemed to asked curiously. Winter laughed again.

"It's only ice buddy," Winter explained, "You haven't been around it, have you?" The Quagsire began to walk slowly off, his eyes captivated by the crystal world in which he walked in...or rather slipped in. The next second, Derp was face first on the ice, sliding forward from his own momentum.

"Careful buddy! It's slippery!" Winter called out.

Lucky knew Sumo chose to stay in the ball because she didn't really like to go anywhere. Not that she could go anywhere fast anyway. She was about as quick as any regular Shuckle could be. Nor did he let Rio out. In the confines of the cavern, a Flying-Type could be very destructive. and the Aerodactyl was known for being destructive. Mane was even a worse choice, as he Fire-Type would only cause the area around them to melt and flood, creating a very dangerously lethal situation. Unfortunately, those three could join Winter this time.

Lucky was a bit hesitant to approach the last Pokemon on his belt, staring up at Winter because he wanted the trainer to make the decision. Winter knew what the hesitation was about, but gave a shrug in response.

"Yeah, let her out. She's one of the team. And she deserves it after Ak-Mun."

The Squirtle nodded and opened the ball, a Weavile hopping out. She seemed to glance around at her surrounding disapprovingly before turning back to Winter, a skeptical look in her eyes that seemed to say, Is this all a trick or something?

"Go have fun with everyone else," Winter said with a warm smile, "No combat today. You had a lot of that yesterday with that Charizard."

The Weavile harrumphed and crossed her arms as she walked over to a very pretty ice pillar and sat down beneath it. Winter sighed and rubbed the back of his head. Their journey together had never been great from the get-go. The Weavile was an experiment case from the labs of an unknown group Winter didn't even bother to learn the name of at the time. All he knew back then was that he stumbled into a very dark and evil place and he had to do something about it. So, he saved her. They were memories he wanted to forget...memories he wanted to keep to himself. And the only proof that such an event happened was Weavile herself.

Despite Winter saving her, the damage had been done. Weavile just wasn't receptive of people or Pokemon, proving to be a rather anti-social individual in general. She kept mostly to herself and didn't interact much with the other members of his team...not even Arty. Winter had considered releasing her to the wild many times, but feared that by doing so, the people he took her from would be getting her back. So long as she was with Winter, she was safe. She may not appreciate it, but Winter didn't care. Any life was better than the life she lived.

"I still need to figure out a name for you," Winter lamented as he stared at the Weavile. Lucky walked up in a friendly manner like he always tried to do and offered her an Oran Berry. The Weavile ignored him like always, turning her head away from him to show her disinterest. Lucky frowned from another failed attempt and walked back over to Winter, who had begun to rub his arms to keep them warm.

"Hot damn, it's actually cold," Winter shivered as Winter climbed onto his back, "But we can do this! I know we can!"

Shantra walked to the mouth of the cave that she made her home. She was well rested and from the sound of her tummy rumbling... very hungry. She didn't know where she would get her food, but she did know that she would have to go and look for it. She looked around, then lifted her head to breathe in the icy air around her. She then set out to find some food.

Walking softly on paws that were designed for the cold, Shantra lifted her head to sniff the air and help her find food. She had excellent hearing to know if there was another pokemon or trainer in the area. She stopped when she heard a noise and listened more intently. Hearing the sound of other pokemon, Shantra walked slowly closer so that she could see hear better.

She didn't know if she wanted to be visible to the others, not knowing if they were wild pokemon in the area, but she knew that she would have to keep an eye on them. She was curious by nature and would eventually let them see her, but she didn't want them to see her right away and get scared. So she would watch and wait to see what they were up to.

"Sssssire?" Derp was walking as slowly as he could manage, trying to keep his feet steady on the slippery ice below him. Still, the Quagsire was starstruck by the beautiful frozen crystals formed around them all. The ice beneath them was as flat as it could be, almost polished. A couple snow drifts piled up against the far side wall. More snow rested on the path ahead, void of any tracks in it. Derp noticed and began to make his way towards it, shuffling along at a slow waddle.

At this point, the Espeon and Vaporeon had begun playing around him, circling them while they tried to get the other's tail. It was something they had done since they were Eevees, before Winter found and rescued them some time ago. It was also a fun thing to do...that is when they weren't in someone's way. This someone this time was Derp, who got distracted easily by the actions of Hyper and Flow and ended up falling on his butt, causing some snow to shift around them. The Eevolutions looked back and began to laugh. Derp, unsure of what to do, laughed along with them.

Winter managed a slight chuckle through chattering teeth, "Be careful, now. Don't want those things to fall on anyone." He pointed upwards. The three Pokemon followed their gaze to discover a cluster of icicles above them. They immediately scattered from beneath it.

Glist continued to walk around the edge of the cavern, looking at the ice walls and soaking in the natural frozen beauty. He ignored everything his brother and sister were doing. The Weavile watched from a distance, pointing at them and laughing cruelly. It was the only fits of laughter Winter ever saw her in. But it was laughter nonetheless.

Lucky noticed the trembling form of his best friend beneath his own body. Lucky looked down to notice that his arms were crossed and he was trying hard to keep focus up. Concerned, the Squirtle tapped the boy's shoulder and got his attention. "Squir?" he asked, translating to You okay?

Winter gave Lucky a reassuring smile, "I'll be fine. I need to resist the cold at least a little bit. Otherwise, I'm not sure I could handle it up on Mount Silver."

Lucky was hesitant to simply accept that answer. He didn't agree with this idea. There were better ways to deal with the cold than risking one's life by traversing through the Ice Path without a strong jacket or at least some thermals.

Suddenly, Glist stopped. His eyes had widened slightly, as if he couldn't believe what he'd just saw. Winter and Lucky hadn't noticed this. Neither did Flow, Hyper, or Derp. But Weavile did.

"Hrm?" Weavile got up, approaching Glist slowly, "Wea-viiile?" she stated in almost a condescending tone, one that said What's up? One icicle scarier than the rest? But her eyes gleamed with genuine intrigue. Especially since Glist didn't react that way often.

Winter did notice Weavile moving towards Glist. "Huh? What's up?" he moved towards her at a hesitant pace, unsure of what was going on.

Little did they know Glist had just seen a Suicune.

Shantra watched Glist as she slowly walked deeper in the woods. She knew that he would try to tell his trainer, but it would be hard to find her if she did not want to be found.

She turned her head so that she could see where she was going and ran to the cave that she had made into her home. She didn't know how long they would be there, but she decided that she would watch them and find out where they were going and if they were sent to find her. She was still hungry, but she knew that would have to wait.

Glist had turned around and was chattering to Weavile rapidly. Weavile seemed to scoff and put down Glist's claims. But he continued to point in that direction. Now the other Pokemon were gathering around, trying to figure out what it was that Glist saw.

Winter knew the Glaceon had seen something at this point, "Alright, buddy. I'll go check it out. You guys wait here."

The current Champion of the Kanto/Johto Region began moving towards the direction Glist had pointed out. The rest of Winter's team gathered together, watching him go forward to prove Glist's theory correct.

"Squir squir?" Lucky asked, as if he was saying Think we're actually going to run into a Suicune?

"I don't know what's ahead, buddy," Winter replied, looking around as they went deeper into this wooded area, "I guess we'll find out."

A sharp wind cut through the young teen, causing Winter to lift his hands to his sleeves, "Woah! Jeezums!" he muttered as he began rubbing his arms for warmth. All the while, he kept a careful gaze around, trying to spot something different around here. Something moving. The thick trees around them didn't help, nor did the wind that seemed to be picking up, bringing snow to his face. Now Winter was starting to have second thoughts about his actions.

"Everyone's safe back in that s-segment of the cave, right L-Lucky?" Winter looked over his shoulder to the Squirtle, who nodded as he took his own gander back from where they came. They would be protected from the wind chill so long as they stayed put.

F-f-f-fuck me, this is cold!" Winter chattered as he made his way further. Lucky's concern for his best friend grew considerably as he watched his friend practically braving the elements without preparation. He was cold himself, but at least he had a shell he could use to protect himself from the cold. Winter had no such thing to his advantage. Lucky knew this wasn't going to end well if they didn't find cover and quick.

And finally, the Squirtle spotted salvation. Through the trees and blowing snow, Lucky saw a cave at one of the walls. "Squir! Squir!" he pointed frantically at it, trying to get Winter to see it.

Winter squinted with effort in the direction his buddy was pointing, "Al...Alright...W-W-We'll t-t-try th-there..." he managed to get out.

But the weather had taken it's toll on the boy. Winter had a singular moment of clarity where he couldn't feel anything. His whole body was numb. The wind continued to beat on him, the snow constantly hitting his face and stinging his eyes. It punished him for not bringing the proper materials needed to pass through the Ice Path.

Winter suddenly stopped, causing Lucky to look down in horror at the trainer. He had pushed it too far.

"I...just..." he mumbled before collapsing in the snow.

"Squir!?" Lucky cried as he began to fall himself. Being a Pokemon, though, he has his resistances as well as his training and so he action rolled the moment he hit the ground. Turning back, he grabbed Winter's arm and began tugging him towards the mouth of the cave they were directly in front of.

Winter wasn't responsive. He was so cold to Lucky's touch. Lucky knew this would get bad if they didn't do something. Winter would die if he stayed out here. But Lucky wasn't sure what he could do. He didn't have the strength to pull a 170 pound teenager very far. He knew he could try to make it back to everyone else and have them help, but it might take too long and he wasn't sure it would work. He could try releasing Mane and having the Typhlosion carry him to safety, but that would risk everyone's lives if the ice melted.

He needed help and quick.

Shantra watched as the trainer and his Pokemon stumbled in front of her cave. She wondered why they would come this far into the woods unprotected from the cold. She walked slowly towards the entrance, but stopped when she saw the trainer fall. She didn't know what to do, but she knew that she had to get him into the cave before he froze to death.

Walking to the mouth of the cave, Shantra lifted her head and sniffed the air. She didn't know if there were any wild pokemon in the area and wanted to make sure that it was safe before she walked out into the woods. She kept her eyes on the fallen trainer making sure that he was not frozen. She sniffed around him, then looked at the other pokemon before lowering her head to grab the trainer by the collar so she could drag him towards the cave and shelter.

Lucky froze as he saw the Legendary Beast emerge from the cave, inhaling sharply at it's magnificent grace. It was similar to the feeling he got when they'd first run into Arty. There were always stories and cool experiences some had with incredible Pokemon like that, but nothing ever beat the experience of running into a Legendary...seeing it before one's very eyes. Even if it had already happened before. The Squirtle was struck with awe.

Then before he knew it, The Suicune had grabbed Winter's collar with her teeth and began to pull him towards the mouth of the cave. Lucky had forgotten for half a second that Winter was in trouble. Now, a small feeling of relief was flowing through him. The Suicune was helping him. Eagerly and with much haste, Lucky followed them to the mouth of her cave. As they took cover within the smooth ice cavern, Lucky immediately felt a shift in temperature...a warmer one. It wasn't very hot...actually, it was still the opposite. But it was away from the wind chill and the piling snow outside, making it feel warmer by comparison. Lucky continued to look over the unconscious teen's face, making sure he was somewhat stable. Hopefully, he would wake up soon...

"Thank you," the Squirtle said to the Suicune, extremely grateful for her actions. "I wasn't sure what I would've done had you not been around."

"Man, I've never missed the sun more than I do now!"

"Squir squir!" came Lucky's agreeing statement as he sat on his best friend's backpack while he walked. It was a beautiful day outside. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sun knew it, filling Blackthorn City with nice, beautiful rays. The air was a tad bit nippy, but nowhere near the bite it carried two days prior while he was walking the Ice Path. The air that had nearly killed him. But with every life endangering event the current Champion of the Kanto and Johto region endured, he seemed to make a new friend. Shantra saved his life and he'd never forget that. And now he had a new ally he could call upon if things were taking a turn for the worse.

Yep, Winter Sakkio didn't live a standard life. A Champion never did. But he enjoyed every part of the adventure...even the ones that left him collapsing from the cold.

Unfortunately, that feeling wasn't mutual with Lucky, who kept grabbing his arm from behind and checking for any permanent damage. Winter had to laugh as the Squirtle inspected his fingers for the zillionth time, "I'm fine! I promise! No hypothermia. No frostbite. Everything is all good."

Lucky didn't put his arm down without a harrumph, "Squirr..."

"I know. Going through Ice Path without a jacket wasn't a good idea. But I couldn't think of any other way to do resistance training. Mount Silver's supposed to be worse. I wanted to get a good feel of what I was jumping into when I told Titania I'd take care of it."

The look Lucky gave him said everything. Oh, you got a good feel alright...

"It all worked out in the end," Winter gave him a warm care-free smile back, "And now we've met and befriended a Suicune. I still need to find a way to pay her back, though." He stopped when he saw a girl walking towards him, heading towards the Ice Path, tampering with her PokeDex. She was a very large girl, around six foot with a large and burly body, her eyes matching a soft complexion. Her curly brown hair fell around her and bounced as she walked. On her head rested a Swablu, a fairly content bird that seemed to naturally enjoy her gaze upon the world.

Winter passed a small wave, forgetting for the moment that he was a Champion. "Hey. How's it going?" he said, a light tone in his voice and much warmth in his words.

"Winter, right?" Smiling faintly at him, the dimples in her cheeks naturally emphasing the action. Admittedly though she was over 20, she did look like she could be an older teen. Snorting a bit as Swablu began flapping his wings gently from the top of her head. "You wann go talk too? That's fine with me Swabs."

"Swablu!" Came the happy responce, jumping down on her shoulder for a quick snug before making his way down to the ground- intentionally perching on a rather clean bit of rock that was mostly level.

Em couldn't help snorting very faintly at him- but in all honesty she was thinkful her Pokemon friend was willing to exxagerate things until she could more properly read his intent. It was almost like he was becoming some charming little actor- like Robin Williams, or Adam Sandler in his early days. Then refocusing her attention on Winter. "I uh... I'm pretty new to all this, what with not even being from this world... Let alone region. If you have some advice for newbies?" Fidgeting a bit as her growth visibly sped up, slipping into a meditative breathing exercise in order to stop it. She hoped Winter didn't find that too weird, but at this point she didn't much care what other people said either.

Winter froze for a second. I've only been to Blackthorn City once, he thought. How does she know my name?

Then the realization kicked in as he remembered his position once more and then smile returned, "Uh-huh! You got it!"

"Squir squir!" Lucky bounded off his back and action rolled to greet the perching Swablu, extending a paw for him to shake.

Winter laughed as he did so, "Don't mind Lucky. He's very friendly."

The Squirtle started his own conversation with the Swablu, while Winter continued his with the girl in front of him, "Huh, not from this world? There was a time where that would've been crazy news to hear. Nowadays, such things to hear is second nature."

"But, that isn't what you asked of me. I'd say the best advice I can give is to do your own thing and find your own way. I know the prize of Champion is a big and legendary one, but if such a prize doesn't make you happy to get, then don't try to go for it. That's not to discourage you from giving it a shot. I'm just saying you should do what makes you and your new Swablu happy. Enjoy the journeys you two have while you're here or wherever you go. "That's why I chose Swabs is he was the friendliest of them... Got right to trying to preen my mess of hair." Unable to help laughing once again as she thought about that, somehow comforted by the memory... Enough so that she shrank down to about 5'6". "And he seems to exaggerate his actions to help cross the language boundary." Turning to watch him and Lucky a moment now, noting how subdued the Swablu's behavior was when compared to how he conversed with her.

She thought a moment before turning back to reply to Winter's advice. "Aight... Since he seems fairly showy, I'll probably see if there's contests besides contests of toughness and combat prowess... I mean that's what I want, but there's gotta be some compromise, right?"

She found herself extending a hand awkwardly as she realized she hadn't introduced herself yet, though she didn't seem that nervous about it after the initial moment of realization. "Em Sparks. Nice to meet you. I've always lived as something of a nomad anyway, the challenge will be not to charge into the fights myself." Remembering the previous time she'd come to this world when she was about nine years old, and how she'd beaten that angry Machoke into a pulp all too easily.

"Winter Sakkio," he shook Em's hand with a nod of the head, "And if you're looking for a beauty contest of sorts, then you're gonna have to travel a ways. I've heard of them in the Hoenn region, but they're most prominent in the Sinnoh region. What could be good is the Pokeathlon. If you make your way to Goldenrod City, you'll find the dome next to the National Park. Ober there, they test a Pokemon's speed, power, jump, skill, and stamina in a variety of events. It'd be up to you guys as to which ones you and Swabs, I'm presuming, wanted to compete in."

"Squir squir!" Winter glanced over to see Lucky flexing his muscles at the mention of the Pokeathlon. There was that spark of energy in his eye that told Winter exactly what he was thinking.

"You wanna partake, too?" Winter actually raised a brow at Lucky's claim, "I thought you weren't for competition like that. I thought you preferred the fighting."

Lucky gave Winter an indignant stare as he pounded his paw against his chest once more. Winter had to laugh.

"Well, I don't see why not, then," he glanced over to Em. Wasn't she taller before? "We can travel together if you want. I've only been to Goldenrod City once, but I'm pretty sure I know the way. It's be a bit embarrassing if a Champion didn't know how to navigate through his own region, huh?" He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head as Squirtle climbed onto his back again.

"That sounds like a good idea, yeah. And Swabs is fairly fast on account of his wings being... Different from the other Swablu that were present." Clearly not sure how to word what she was trying to say. Hopefully he got the point regardless, she thought, as she internally wished her vocabulary was better.

"Blu~!" Swabs replied, just happy to have had that mentioned as he fluttered his wings excitedly... Only to give the closest he could to a frown when he fell to one side in his excitement, and ended up with little spots of black on his cottony feathers.

Em rolling her eyes at him. "Such a perfectionist..." And yet despite her body language there, she was calming down even further, resulting in her shrinking slightly more down to her default height of 5'4". It was very rare someone got to see her at her default height, due to her emotional nature... And it wasn't long before she realized she was actually at it, and found herself wondering why Winter hadn't commented on her changes in height yet.

"Interesting," Winter noted as he took to viewing the falcon-like wings on the Swablu, a very uncharacteristic trait for such a being to have. He'd make to be a very fast Pokemon indeed.

As the two started walking west toward Route 44, a sudden realization kicked in for Winter. "Oh shoot! I should really let a few of these guys out of their PokeBalls. They couldn't come out during my journey through the Ice Path because it would've been too dangerous. They're probably getting restless."

As Winter was explaining, he had pulled two PokeBalls off his belt and proceeded to toss them. The first one to pop out immediately took to the skies, flapping his wings as if he would never get the opportunity to again. While the Aerodactyl circled around them, stetching his stiff muscles, the second one to pop out had immediately wrapped Winter in a bear hug.

"Woooooooah, easy buddy," Winter patted the Typhlosion to set him down, "I know, I know, it's been a little bit. But Ice Path becomes Flood Path if you're around it."

The Typhlosion snorted a response before walking around his surroundings in search of berries. The Aerodactly already began to hover lower and lower as the girl began to take in his interest.

"Em, these are two more of my friends. The purple rock-dragon above us is Rio. And the one foraging for food over there is Mane." Rio flapped his wings as he landed, eyeing up the girl. "He doesn't bite," Winter reassured, "But he's a bit hard to get to know."

Mane had already returned with some Oran berries in his mouth, "That one, though. Give him food and he'll love ya forever." Winter watched as Mane began sniffing around Em, in search for something more to eat. It was then that the differences in height were starting to take full notice.

"Hey, weren't you taller before?" he pointed out as they walked, "It sounds crazy, but I think you legitimately were a foot taller when we first ran into each other than now."

"Yeah, good idea..." Finding herself looking over the other's Pokemon now as Swabs went to perch on her shoulder, bumping his dirty wing into her face as if he wanted her to help clean it. "Alrighty then." Doing her best to pick out the bits of black... Whatever they were. She just did her best not to think about it.

"Seems me and Mane have something in common then." Wondering if he'd like a bit of venison jerky she'd made as she got a small piece out to offer it to the Typhlosion. "I was wondering when you'd notice that! My height depends upon my emotions. That's actually why I first started living as a nomad, 'cuz I mean... If I lose control I can easily hurt or kill people. It wasn't until later on I learned enough control to visit civilization." Smiling faintly as she could feel Swabs snuggling against her again. She guessed he was imagining how rough that must have been.

"There's the positive to this er... Sizeshifting. Too. But I saw a lot of things I would rather not have as a lil anklebiter." Shaking her head as she seemed to be remembering some of the worse memories, expressive eyes dimming a bit- losing that usual hopeful shine. It was only when Swabs said something to her that she snapped out of it. "Oh... The jerky? Yeah, I did make it myself. I don't care as much for all that commercialized food. I mean I'll still eat most of it if need be, but... I'm used to hunting and gathering for myself." Smiling faintly when the cottony bird seemed to approve of that.

Mane took the piece of jerky without a second though, cramming it into his mouth as he went looking around for more food for the party. Rio took to the skies once more, scouting ahead like he always did. Meanwhile, Winter was paying attention to Em.

"Oh, I see," Winter rubbed his chin in thought as they walked, "Do you have any idea how it happens? Like, how your height is linked to your emotions?"
