Zarik has never had it easy. Since his youth, he'd had to pretty much raise his kid sister. Learn quickly, grow up too fast, and keep his game face on at almost all times. When caring parents aren't around it's pretty much fending for oneself with whatever is available. To that extent, Zarik took what he had learned growing up with fortunate parents and tried his hand at raising Freya. Despite the wealth and prospects, he leads a simple, humble life. He wanted to show Freya that life isn't like looking through rose-colored glasses. Those lenses crack eventually and what's left is nothing but a pure rawness, a world of hurt. He didn't want her to grow up top be anything like their parents. After she graduated high school and he took the road they pretty much carved out their own paths. Though Freya took up Law School and has managed to come out at the end of the freaky virus, he still keeps contact with her. Which for Zarik it always comes back to, what he could have done to make life better for her, pushed harder to get their ever-busy parents into their orbit. Doesn't matter where they go or how far apart their lives will take them, protecting his sister is his job. One given him to by his CEO father, who he has been loyal to, to the point of blind faith. Until he grew old enough to understand the world isn't black and white or always clear. Life is harsh, unforgiving, blunt, suffocating, agonizingly twisted and yet utterly beautiful in all its damaged flaws. After the whole virus sickness blew over, he's only been able to reach Freya. He hasn't seen or heard from the folks after the incident.
