Description
The Ruulan Voyagers are a highly specialized branch of the United Pokemon League dedicated to serving their champions and nation far away from the homeworld. Because Ruula is very much lacking in the space travel department these people are some of the few pokemon trainers in the world capable of, at least in theory, traveling the known universe. They do this utilizing custom designed ships that utilize a team of pokemon to fly. These pokecrew members are dedicated to keeping the ship running fast and safe. While there is quite a lot of variance on individual crew members, every ship has a psychic and electric core dedicated to moving the ship and making sure the ship doesn't lose power respectively.
Ruulan Voyagers are considered above the law and do not answer to anyone within the UPL primarily as a method of reducing the UPL's liability for their actions and allowing them to get through red tape more quickly. However, this will not stop the UPL from deeming a voyager an enemy if it believes they are no longer serving their country's best interests. The Ruulan Voyagers were created by Grand Champion Iris as an answer to the ongoing anomalies within The Multiverse. While it is not explicitly in their job description, each and every trainer selected for this honor is briefed on these anomalies and instructed to make them top priority. While not necessarily the strongest, these trainers are picked personally by the Grand Champion based on their ability to solve practical problems.
The Ship
Every Ruulan Voyager ship is custom designed to accommodate its crew. No two ships are alike, and a ship's captain will often name theirs, but the underlying framework is often quite similar.
Common Class First Edition
An unfinished prototype of a cheaper solution for space travel. Intended for civilian use.
Elite Class First Edition
The first Ruulan ship ever sent into space and the standard framework used for voyagers, this ship usually relies entirely on pokemon to make it function.
- Size: 250 feet (75 Meters)
- Armor: This ship is equipped with Ablative Armor to help it heavily resist energy and particle based weaponry.
- Shielding: This ship does not have traditional shields, relying instead upon the same spatial distortion it uses for propulsion to deflect attacks.
- Weapons: This ship has modular slots for customized weaponry, but is unequipped with any weapons by default. Instead it relies on it's crew for attacks. A psyshock attack is extremely effective at tearing down shields and a psychic attack very effective at crushing hulls. Other attacks could also be used creatively.
- Locomotion: This ship utilized a psychic pokemon core to help propel itself. Psychic pokemon chosen for this role specialize in a technique called spatial distortion, which allows them to surpass light speed. The ship's speed is dependent entirely upon the strength and endurance of the psychic core and these ships can potentially seem to teleport from destination to destination, however, faster speeds and longer destinations require a larger startup period.
- Auxiliary Locomotion: The psychic core can also use telekinesis to propel a ship similar to traditional vessels, using a specialized engine built to harness the power of the crew instead of traditional fuel.
- Communication: Standardized Radio and Video.
- Auxilliary Communications: Psychic Messages. Typical for reporting back to home base over great distances.
- Stealth: As an extre pre-caution, a ship might spatially distort itself into a small pocket in space during travel. This puts a greater strain on the psychic core, but makes the ship difficult to detect and incredibly difficult to target accurately. However, the ship cannot launch attacks of it's own while in this state.
- Tools: The ship is equipped with a scanner to help it in identifying foreign objects and identifying whether a planet is hospitable to human life. A large onboard computer can be used for a myriad of things such as scheduling, cartography and even wireless communication.
