A hunched figure sat cross-legged in the corner of the dojo. Many would over-look him, if not for his large figure. Indeed, he would stand about six foot three inches, but seemed so unassuming in his meditative state. A curtain of long blonde hair obscured his face, but not his vision, and gathered about his shoulders. From the shoulders down, pale, sinewy arms could be seen. Cut off just at the shoulder, a black leather cuirass sat in stark contrast to the figure's pale complexion. The figure would also be unassuming, save for the hand-and-a-half sword sitting at his right hip, nor for the long spear and naginata leaning against the wall, just within arm's reach. Nay, nothing about this young man was unassuming.

Soen |Pain... Greed... Hate... All played a roll in what would result in one losing a life this evening. A back alley transaction between a fox and a snake set forth the cogs of fate which continued to grind against one another, lubricated by the oily saliva of death. Perched atop a branch within a tree several meters away from the Dojo, Soen sat in silence, unmoving, phased not by the outside world. His intent was to wait for his target to leave the building, something not likely to happen at this hour in the evening. And so, driven by his will to take that which all were blessed with, Soen silently began his descent of the tree and approach toward the large structure, masked by the abundant darkness that grasped the area.

Little movement could be seen from the figure in the corner that betrayed his knowledge of his foe's entrance of the building. A slight twitch of the head to move the curtain of long golden hair to better gain a view of certain attack, naught much else. Asa heard the man enter, but did not rise from his meditative position. Several thoughts flashed through his mind as he observed his opponent from afar, ranging from possible immediate offensives to going on the instant defense. Instead of opting for the sudden attack, Asa decided to wait. This man, who was not much older than himself, would most likely rely on speed more than anything else in a fight, and that was where Asa had an advantage. Despite being young and eager, Asa had received much training in patience from his Master.

Soen stepped silently forward across the wooden floorboards upon the balls of his feet, resembling a feline approaching it's prey. Light reflecting off his eyes gave them a "shining" feature, something else noted to be seen within members of the cat family. Though, if there was ever to be a reference to an animal that describes Soen, it would be a snake. The Black Mamba, specifically. Blessed be the being idling in the far corner that this snake hunts without it's venom this day. Standing 5'4, his lithe visage paused it's approach, silver eyes gazing upon prey. Words weren't necessary. Reaching down toward his waistline with his right hand, his index and middle fingers trapped the edge of a star between them. And just as fast as he gripped the projectile he flung it toward the man opposite of him, intending on hitting him square between the eyes. This was more of a test than anything...

A smirk played across the pale face of Asakuno, now suddenly visible as he tossed back the curtain of gold. He was ready for the little game his opponent would play, for most of his opponents had begun like this. Asa did little more than just rising to his feet, allowing the shuriken to strike the black leather cuirass harmlessly in his stomach. Although it was harmless, it had struck a little lower than expected, and threw Asa off by maybe half a step. Cursing his hesitation, and knowing it could easily kill him, Asa drew his hand-and-a-half sword, Helvetii. He held the blade before his face in his left hand, right hand left free for balance, among other things. With his movements so quick, Asa could have charged, but again, he opted to be patient, and wait for the speed of his opponent to allow for the advantage.

Soen crossed his arms over his chest in an 'X' and hooked his fingers into the rings at the end of the hilts of the four blades that lay in wait across his collar bone, each of his index and middle fingers occupying a ring. Stepping forward slightly, preparing to strike, Soen would pull these four small blades from there places and use that same momentum to send them forward toward the man, though something would seem off. Each of the four weapons seemed to have missed their intended targets entirely, two landing between the man's legs, and two landing on the outside of either leg, the lightweight, yet highly durable steel stabbing deeply into the wood that composed the walls. Soen remained expressionless and stared forward into his opponent's eyes, never blinking once...

Stepping lightly, Asa moved forward while 'dodging' this missed attack. He had no idea that it was an intentional miss or not, and decided to step forward for a strike. Even though being patient would have most likely paid off, Asa had grown bored with this egotistical posturing. With a smirk, Asa brought down Helvetii in a diagonal strike across his opponent's chest, while his free right hand sat right at his belt. Using the momentum of his left-handed strike, Asa spun with the blade, and brought out a kunai with his right hand. His right hand was aimed for his foe's side, right below the ribs. The quickness and precision of his attack all but guaranteed that at least one of his strikes would land.

Soen would have grinned if the anxiousness of watching the mouse fall from the trap hadn't overwhelmed his sense of emotion, something Soen had problems with to begin with, having no real grasp on it. Asakuno would draw near with such precision and quickness but find that the speed put into this strike would come to be his downfall, for as he closed the distance between himself and Soen, something would snag on his lower legs between his ankles and knees. At the speed he were traveling, Asa would have his legs taken out from under him, tripping in a sense. The "missed" attack was a small trap set up by Soen; Attached to the rings of his dagger was a thin, yet strong, metallic wire which would be the cause of Asa's "downfall". Watching as his opponent would "fall short" of his attack, the bastard sword still was sent downward across his chest, though remained easily avoidable, Soen leaning his upper body back and to the side slightly, letting the blade pass by. Joy would have erupted at this point...
Soen |...As Soen noticed Asa had initiated a spin, something that would further tangle the metallic wiring around his legs. Seeing this as the opportune time to strike, Soen gripped the hilt of the blade located on his left forearm with his right hand, pulling it from it's place and stab directly downward, intending to hit the back of his target's neck, or something in the same region.
