Asakuno would draw near with such precision and quickness but find that the speed put into this strike would come to be his downfall, for as he closed the distance between himself and Soen, something would snag on his lower legs between his ankles and knees. At the speed he were traveling, Asa would have his legs taken out from under him, tripping in a sense. The "missed" attack was a small trap set up by Soen; Attached to the rings of his dagger was a thin, yet strong, metallic wire which would be the cause of Asa's "downfall". Watching as his opponent would "fall short" of his attack, the bastard sword still was sent downward across his chest, though remained easily avoidable, Soen leaning his upper body back and to the side slightly, letting the blade pass by.
