Colin Seartjik

"You think you can get away from me? Haha, good luck"

0 · 984 views · located in The Nightwing

a character in “The Nightwing's Voyage”, as played by BAWADABOO

Description

Name: Colin Seartjik- (Coalin Swartcheck)
Age: 543 years.
Gender: Male
Species: Metamorphite
Rank: First Mate

Colin is a Metamorphite. His species was given this name because they have the ability to freely modify their organs and skeletal structure and change into any species they have physically touched. Through Colin's travels he has added many creatures to his "Beastiary" of sorts, and because of this, and his whimsical attitude, he doesn't stay in one form for more than an hour or so at a time. Whenever he is meeting with foreign dignitaries, or abassadors, he takes their form to make them feel more comfortable. But when speaking to Reggie he often takes a human form. He is fond of this form, but its physical limitations upset him sometimes.

His true form is a tall, skinny, dark red creature. His skin has smallish bumps all over it. He finds this form unpleasent, so he refuses to enter it unless absolutely necessary.

His traditional human form is one he recieved many years ago. The man had light brown hair and a lean build. He had a pleasent smile and his physical prowess impressed Colin.

Personality

Colin is a fun loving, free spirited creature. He loves to keep the mood light and will do whatever he can to make it so. He has a short attention span, and gets bored easily, causing him to switch forms when he feels limited. He is quite intellegent and wise, because of his extended years. He sometimes jokes when it is not necessary, but usually has control over himself. He is fairly disciplined when facing authority. He is also the only person on the Nightwing who adresses the captain as Reggie or Regina. The rest are to refer to her as captain or ma'am. He prides himself on this. He is a bit of a prankster as well.

Equipment

Colin wears the traditional "Morphsuit" of his people at all times. This suit is made of a special fabric designed by his people that changes along with the wearer. It expands or contracts in order to fit any species he changes into. It is a unitard of sorts without sleeves. It is reminiscent of the Human "Wetsuit" He does not carry a weapon, as many of his forms have bodily weapons and defenses.

History

The Metamorphite are a nomadic, peaceful race. They dont have a habit of imperial conquest, rather, they travel far away, searching for other species to add to their bestiaries. They do not instigate fights, but are more than ready and willing to fight back. Theres nothing more difficult than fighting yourself, so Metamorphites usually win. Metamorphites are immune to age, as they can rebuild their bodies when they become old. Many Metamorphites live to be milllions of years old. The "elders" have survived in this fashion for uncountable years and constantly seek knowledge.

Colin's family was no different. They roamed the stars as any other family would. When Colin was 341 years of age he chose to enter the Intergalactic Defense Academy. He worked as a deckhand for years before becomig a scout for an older ship in the fleet. His ship was retired after many years and he was put on indefinite leave for his many years of service. It was then that he met Regina Oris. The two shared a passion for knowledge, and she took him on as first mate of the Nightwing. He has served with her as long as she has been captain, and plans to continue working with her until she finds what she is looking for. Colins age is proportional to 26 human years. He is still seen as a young adult among other Metamorphites

So begins...

Finally, Reggie made her way to the bridge, a hop in her step. She was more than ready to begin this adventure. "MAK, make sure the others know where their stations. And make sure Cassandra knows where her office is."

"Yes Captain," Was his only reply.

Riding the elevator up higher, Reggie could feel her excitement rising as she got nearer to her destination. When the doors slid open, she was surprised to see Colin already there. Granted he was sleeping, so he wasn't really there.

She rolled her eyes and stepped out onto the bridge. The lights of the many buttons reminded her of the stars. She often slept up here when she was younger. Back when it was in retirement until she could fix it up. She pressed her back against the wall Colin was sleeping against and slid down.

She rested her head on his shoulder and nudged him with her shoulder. He groaned, hating it when she did that.

"How can you sleep when magical adventures are about to happen?" She questioned, keeping her voice low. She couldn't help but giggle. It was just like old times.

Colin grunted. Pressure pushed down on his shoulder as he was woken. Reg had finally gotten there and was sitting next to him. She seemed so excited that they were finally leaving. SHe wouldnt shut up about it for months after she got the trip approved. It was all she would ever talk about. He really didnt mind much though. He would usually just smile and nod. She could carry the conversation all by herself most of the time.

"I can sleep because I dont have much to do" He mumbled. He had a few duties on the ship. Stuff like forwarding messages to the crew from Reg, and going on scouting missions. In between these things he usually just hung out on the bidge with Reg and goofed off, pranking the crew.

He turned his head and dropped it onto hers. "Its finally starting Reg." He knew she wouldnt be sleeping tonight.

Reggie almost thought Colin had completely fallen asleep, leaving his mind to wonder in any direction it chose, when he finally spoke. His head remained unmoved, nothing but his lips moved.

"I can sleep because I don't have much to do."

"That's not true, you're important. You keep me sane." She said. "That's the most important thing. A insane captain is no fun at all."

They both laughed. Colin tilted his head on top of hers as their laughter slowly died down, relaxing into that comfortable silence they were so used to. "It's finally starting, Reg."

Reggie nodded, as best she could in their current position. She gave a sound of agreement, a smile stretching on her face. "Yes, yes it is." She added. She laughed, her excitement spilling out of her body, no longer able to contain it.

She stood, causing Colin's head to drop. She held her hand out to him, and helped him to his feet. "Come on, first mate." She mused.

She helped him to his feet and started pacing the bridge. She was exstatic. He was happy for her. It was about time they got to go.
He looked around the bridge. He hardly spent any time up here. Only whn she really needed him here. Other than that he was usually wandering around, checking if everyone was doing their job.

"Whats the first order of buisiness cap?" he asked as he leaned on the counter. The crew was still settling in, but it wouldt be long before she took off.

Reggie

"What's the first order of business Cap?"

Reggie smiled, her mind racing with the possibilities. They had to speak with the crew, make sure everyone knew the task at hand. Then they would have to start the engines, make sure everything was going okay within. MAK could only check so much. She was almost giddy about finally feeling the Nightwing's engines purr again.

"Actually," She said leaning on the counter across from him. Their faces mere inches apart. "This is a pretty good opportunity to talk to MAK. And I want your opinion as well."

"You need me, Captian?" MAK's voice rang through.

"Yes, since we're at a stand still since everyone is exploring the ship, I feel like we should have our talk now."

"Understood Ma'am." MAK said. "I do have a message from the Doctor. He says he will enjoy his time here."

Reggie laughed, glad the doctor was enjoying the infirmary.

"Now Colin, I was speaking with MAK earlier, about my concerns of captaining a ship that is ran mainly by an AI." Reggie explained standing up straight. "And I want your opinion on this as well."

She paced along the floor, limping. "Would it be wise to get more people to man the ship. Like living people. Who knows what we'll experience when we reach the outer limits. We can hit magnetic fields that interfere with MAK's programming. And then we'll be stranded in some distant galaxy."

She took a deep breath eyeing her second. "We can probably go to the IDA and pick up some graduates. The IDA is always looking for opportunities to give the students real life experience."

Alexander

Alex was startled by the sudden voice behind him, and he spun around quickly, his coat catching around his knees.

"Oh, um, hello." He fumbled. "I'm Dr. Alexander Greenhaven. But, call me Alex." He shook hands with the attractive blonde, and found himself staring a bit too long.

He coughed and adjusted his gaze to stare at anything else. He was such a loser. He was told that he looked like someone who oozed confidence and could talk a girl into his bed in two seconds, but that wasn't the case. He was awkward with the opposite gender. With any gender really. He spent most nights studying, socializing wasn't one of his strong suites.

"Um, yeah, the hair." He laughed nervously running a hand through it's rough spikes. "You said you were Arc, that's an interesting name."

He laughed nervously.

After finishing most of the tour of the ship (the bridge had to be skipped because some were having a confidential conversation there), Saein had a look at the two rooms she had claimed for Bond and herself. They were pretty much identical, she picked the one with slightly less manly colours. She picked up her big bag and her suitcase full of metal from the land cruiser, dragged them to her room, and let herself drop onto the bed. It was a nice soft bed, really big too. “Ten crew members, not counting the captain. Five big beds. I wonder if she expects us to repopulate the Earth when we find it” she joked to herself.

“If that were the case, she would have hired equal amounts of men and women, and of compatible species only” MAK chimed in.

“Good points, MAK, but I was talking to myself.” A bed like this would have been nice a few years ago. Maybe... No, “You don’t play that game anymore. Besides, you couldn't, not with anyone on this ship.”

“I don’t play what game anymore? I’m not aware of any entertainment programs having been uninstalled” MAK asked for clarification.

“TALKING TO MYSELF!”

“You sound stressed, and incoherent talking to oneself may be a symptom of a mental health problem. Would you like me to schedule an appointment with doctor Greenhaven?”

“I don’t think the doctor can make the voice I keep hearing go away, but I’m sure I have a few tools that are just right for the job. So shut up, MAK, until I mention your name, or else.”

Silence. Saein brought her thoughts back to exactly half of the crew having rooms. She was annoyed the captain had left it to the crew to figure out who got those rooms, it was a way to reward selfishness and laziness. It wasn’t fair, though, to assume the others who had been quick enough to claim rooms were selfish or lazy, maybe they had reasoned the same way she did, or maybe they had different good reasons or just good luck.

“MAK, who else has claimed rooms?”

“Cassandra Lassion, Colin Seartjik, Eddie Ackers, and Bond Mason. Shall I shut up again now?”

“Yes, that would be nice. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t really attack you with wire cutters... maybe just a little screwdriver.” She still intended to give the room away, and now she knew who she didn’t need to offer it to. Who of the remaining five had to do a lot of work every day, and did she like? Minn, obviously. But what if Minn was too modest to accept? She remembered the bed was really big, if she put a pillow in the middle it could be considered two beds, and maybe an easier to accept offer. Maybe there was a way she could use that offer to find out more about the character of the others who had claimed rooms...

Saein wondered what it would be like if Minn did accept the offer to share the room, and what it would have been like if she had been a Firni too. The girl seemed to have a nice personality, she was pretty, and best of all, she appeared to be a great cook. She might have long term potential. “Saein Vernig,” Saein said to herself with a mischievous grin, “your intentions aren’t pure, and you know it. You’re going to get yourself in trouble that way.”

Time to get back to work. She took her datapad, wrapped up her notes about the small issues she had noticed and the few repairs she had made in a nice report, added the sentence “I’ve seen new ships that were in a worse state” and asked MAK to deliver it to the captain. Work done, time to wander around the ship aimlessly.

Reggie

As Reggie and Colin continued to discuss, MAK suddenly piped up, alerting them with a loud beeping sound. "Captain, there seems to be an unidentified android outside the ship. We can not take off until it is removed."

Reggie walked behind the control panel and pressed a few buttons. A screen popped up showing an unconscious body on the platform next to the Nightwing. The man's body was half hanging off, and in the way of the Nightwing's dock. If they tried to release from the docks, they would take the man's body with them, most likely tearing him to shreds.

"We'll continue this talk later," Reggie said to Colin. "MAK open the hanger doors."

Quickly running to the elevator, Reggie took it all the way down to the hanger. She tapped her foot impatiently, hoping the android was alright. It had to be either a series 400 or 500, judging by his human appearance. If that was the case, they needed to get food in him asap.

Finally, the elevator stopped and the doors slid open. Reggie bolted out, her boots thudding against the rough surface. MAK released the hangar doors and she leaped off landing easily on the platform. She slid over to the android and flipped him over. She spotted the barcode on his wrist with the number 500 written above it. He was a part of the series 500.

She pulled her knife from her boot and turned him onto her side. She ran the blade down, barely touching his skin, and stopped right in the middle of his back. She pushed the knife into his back, until finally his eyes snapped open. He was alive.

"Alright, come on." She pulled him to his feet and helped him onto the ship. "I'm Captain Regina Oris," She explained as she pressed a button to close the hanger door. "Welcome to the Nightwing."

Alexander

Alex knew that others had noticed his sudden blushing, and his staring at Minn. He coughed, quickly averting his gaze anywhere, but at the young Shariva. His fingers tapped heavily on the counter, making the awkwardness even more prominent.

He looked over at Regina, smiling, and she shook her head with a laugh. "Um, for all those that don't know, I'm Dr. Alexander Greenhaven. Just call me Alex." He introduced, remembering that most of the crew hadn't gotten a chance to meet him.

Regina had ushered them all over to the land cruiser as soon as he had accepted her offer.

Reggie

The doctor had managed to bring in an awkwardness to the kitchen. Reggie knew from when she had met the young doctor that he was a bit awkward, but she didn't think it was this bad. She watched him tap uncontrollably on the counter and the captain was ready to smack him.

Awkwardness she could handle. Constant tapping for no reason, she hated. The repetitive sound triggered something in her brain that made her think something was broken. She disliked it. She slammed her hand on the counter, collectively stopping him from tapping and stood. She smiled at him, showing that she wasn't angry at him, just having fun, and pushed away from the counter.

Where was Colin? He should have gotten the message from MAK, and he was never one to pass up food. Where was the rest of her crew for that matter.

Colin's eyes snapped open. Food...

It was probably one of the fastest he'd ever done, His change from Human into Zeke. Zeke was the name of his fastest avian form. The creature had a short, stremlined body with sleek, pointy wings. Zeke had no feet, only small arms coming out of the sides of its chest. The arms were good for nothing but stabilizing when not in flight. Barely had any muscle at all.

Within seconds Zeke had arrived in the mess hall with the rest of the crew, at least he thought they were all there. He found a clear spot and transformed back. He immediately took his seat next to Reg. He flashed her a small, 'sorry im late,' smile and dug into the food. He devoured it so fast he barely tasted it. If he had he was sure it wouldve been delicious.

Reg was ready to speak. He was sur ehe'd heard this all before, but he would listen to it again. She was a decent speaker.

Dlew looked up from his plate to see a Metamorphite walk into the room and turn into a human. THis made Dlew wonder if he could transform into a series 500 android but it is unlikely since Dlew is made of metal but it made him wonder about the 600 and 700 series (since they are made of artifical flesh and blood.) He noticed the Metamorphite take a seat next to Regina and felt like he was ment to be here, but felt like something was missing.

Reggie watched how Minn reacted to the take off. It wasn't for everybody, and the first one was always the worst. After a while, she would get used to it. If she didn't run off when they docked at their first stop. Which would no doubt take Saein away as well, Reggie recalled back to when the mechanic had said all she wanted was a good chef.

Sighing and shaking her head, Reggie let the slowing pressure wash over her, the feeling so comfortable and normal. She pushed off her chair, walking towards the cockpit. "Dlew, make a change in the planned route. We're stopping at the IDA first. Coordinates should be in the system already."

She spun and took a look at the crew members on the bridge with her. "MAK, what is Minn's location?"

"Just outside the bridge." MAK responded. "Dr. Lassion is with her."

"Good, maybe Cassandra can calm her down." Reggie said tapping her finger on her chin. She was tired, her knee was throbbing. She had been moving too much, too much action. It was time to take a rest.

"Colin, you're in charge. I'm retiring to my quarters for a while." Reggie explained looking to Colin. "Please, don't break my ship."

She smiled to Bond and Saein, waved goodbye to Eddie and Dlew and made her way to her quarters. Her room was on it's own floor, just above the bridge. It was large and spacious, although Reggie never knew what to fill it with. The room was a dark blue color, that immediately calmed the captain down. Her bed sat in the middle of the room on it's own platform. Reggie flopped onto it, immediately removing her tight pants.

Her knee was yellow and discolored, the replacement piece has shifted and knocked out of place. Usually, it left Reggie unable to even walk, but with the amount adrenaline that had been coursing through her most of yesterday and today, it was understandable why she would force her way through the pain.

Reggie contemplated heading down to the infirmary and having the good doctor fix her knee, but she decided against it. There was a good chance she wouldn't even make it that far before collapsing.

Grabbing her pants from the floor, she bunched it up and stuck a thick piece in her mouth, immediately clenching down on it as hard as she could. Placing her fingers in the appropriate locations, she applied pressure to the edges and pushed the cap back into place. Of course it never just snapped back into place. Often times it would get stuck, the metal piece not meant to be moved.

And the pain. The pain was greater than anything Reggie had ever felt. The pain of slipping the metal piece back into place was far greater than when Reggie originally got the injury. She screamed into the cloth as she forced herself to push the piece back into place.

Finally, she felt the cap shift and the pain cease. The captain collapsed, her jaw slacking and the pants falling into her lap. She took in deep breaths and fell back into her sheets.

"MAK!" She called. "I need a drink."

When Regina said for Dlew to change the ships course Dlew responded with "roger." When Dlew finished the change to the course he told Colin.

Dlew then left the bridge to walk around the ship. Dlew stopped by the hanger and sat down by the door and started to draw it. Dlew felt like he could take another nap, but thought he should ask if there were any rooms left. It was too late Dlew had fallen a sleep against the wall.

Narration

The voyage to the IDA went smoothly. Nothing broke, nothing attacked them. It was smooth. After docking, Reggie led the group off the ship. She informed that not all had to come, but they were welcome to explore the Academy while she and Colin spoke with the Headmaster.

Alexander

The good doctor decided to stay in his office, pouring over his files. He never really mixed well with the strict rules of the IDA. He had been there a few times, hoping to get field training, but he was turned down. Something about how he didn't fit the mold of the Academy.

Alex instinctively ran a hand through his hair, the spiky tendrils familiar yet different. He was finally down to his last file. He had memorized and refiled everything to his liking. The last one was Regina's. He was avoiding it, slightly terrified to see what was hidden in his Captain's file. It was rather large. Larger than the others.

Finally, with a sigh, he flipped it open. He was met with her picture from her time in the Academy and the few basic things. Her name, age, gender, weight, height. Same old, same old. As he continued to flip through, he found several medical records. Surgeries. Replacements.

...Regina Oris has had a full replacement of her left leg. From the knee down the muscle and bone tissues have been replaced with mechanical technology...

He continued to read, his eyes scanning over the exact properties of the leg replacement. It was, apparently, due for a check up...four years ago. Alex shook his head as he let the file drop from his fingers. She was crazy. She was absolutely crazy. No wonder she walked with a limp! She had been avoiding the check up. No doubt the entire leg needed to be re-replaced at this point.

What was with this crew? It was like the purposely wanted their doctor to lose their mind.

Regina

Walking through the halls of the Academy brought a wave of nostalgia over Reggie. Although, back when she walked through these halls, it wasn't with a limp. She could feel the joints and sprigs vibrate through her leg. She winced a few times, but hid it as best she could.

Her eyes scanned through the photos on the walls. The graduating classes with their serious faces. When she found her class, she couldn't help but stop and stare it. She was the only female in her graduating class. There were several girls that were in the academy, but there weren't very many. All of Reggie's female friends were either in the class younger than hers or older.

She looked up at the picture, recognizing a few faces. Some of them she had dated, some she had worked with. Some had already died. Her eyes locked onto the person standing next to her in the picture. An attractive male that Reggie was really close with during their time together. Ian Baxter. She remembered seeing it on the news. The attack on the ship he was piloting. Only one survivor of the 20 person crew, and it wasn't Ian.

Finally, she turned away from the picture and caught up with Colin, who had kept walking towards the Headmaster's office. "Just like old times, huh?" She asked elbowing him in the arm playfully.

Alexander

Alex was hardly paying attention to the conversations going on behind him. He was too busy checking Saein's status on one of the monitors. The beds inside the infirmary were designed to check pulse, blood flow, sudden changes in temperature. They were completely state of the art. No puncturing needles, or tubes as long as a his forearm. He couldn't help but ponder how Regina managed to pay for all this.

She had inherited the ship, but how did she pay to get all of the equipment that was on board? Funding from the Council was almost impossible to get, even if they wanted to give you any.

He turned when he heard his name called. Saein was asking if there was anything wrong. He shook his head. "Everything looks fine, I think you just overestimated how your body would react to touching Minn. From your file, it seems you do that a lot." He smiled at her, to convey that he was simply joking. "I'm going to give you a little something for your headache, but I would like you to stay here for a few hours. Just so I can check everything, before sending you off again."

"You should be back to your engines and tools before we take off again." He explained. "I would just rather be safe than sorry. And everyone is welcome to stay. I'm sure you lot would be far more entertaining for Saein than me." He smiled again, giving a little chuckle.

He stepped over to Saein and carefully prepared a needle for the painkiller. He sterilized the needle and filled it with the clear liquid and carefully rubbed Saein's arm with a sterilizing wipe. He made careful sure to touch her gently, not wanting her to go into another shock. Finally, he inserted the needle and deposited it's contents into her blood stream.

"Should be kicking in shortly. Once it has, we'll go through a few more tests to make sure everything is perfectly alright." He smiled at her and threw away the needle.

Regina

Colin was being extremely quiet which concerned Reggie. He was usually a lot more talkative, at least when it was just them. Maybe the sudden nostalgia was having an affect on him. Being back at the Academy had a different effect on everyone. She just hoped he would snap out of it.

When the finally made it to the Headmaster's office, Reggie was surprised to find Bond already there. "Fancy seeing you here." She said to him. He smiled at her, laughing lightly.

"Headmaster Thomas." Reggie greeted sternly, already locking into an attentive position.

"Regina Oris. Amazing to see you wondering through my halls once again." He stepped around his desk and shook her hand. It was different from the usual interaction between Headmaster and Student. Then again, Reggie wasn't a student anymore. "How's that leg doing for you? I heard it got beat up pretty bad."

"Oh, it's holding up just fine. Could be better." She smiled. "So, I hear you have a few upcoming graduates looking for field time."

"That I do. Some field time will let these kids graduate sooner and begin fighting the good fight." The Headmaster said walking back behind the desk. "What? Do you positions available?"

Reggie smiled and immediately conveyed the mission. She didn't go into too many details not wanting to mention that she literally had no idea what would be awaiting them on this undiscovered planet. She explained things but kept most details fairly vague.

"Interesting." The Headmaster said sitting down into his chair. "I will speak with the graduates, see who is interested. The ones that wish to attend will be on your ship in two hours time. I'll send word if no one is interested."

She gave him a knowing smile. "Although, I'm sure there will at least be a handful." He added. Reggie knew what it was like to be a graduate. Any field mission, no matter how dangerous, meant early graduation and actual field time. Not many graduates got an opportunity like this; especially since most field missions cost money. And a lot of it. Reggie was offering a free shot at graduation.

And, although the risk of death was high, most graduates would give that away just to say they had some sort of field time. Most recent graduates were thrust onto a station until a war broke out or a mission came up. Some would die long before they would ever get a shot at being on an actual ship. At least if they died on the Nightwing, they could die a true soldier. Although, Reggie would do her best to make sure all came back alive.

"Thank you Headmaster," Reggie said saluting the man. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an android to operate on."

His thin purple body practically danced through the halls. Colin was bored. He hadn't had a job to do for so long. This was the most irritating part of any voyage. The first few days. The days where everyone was settling in, where everyone was preparing their workspace, or decorating their room, or exploring the ship. Even Reg, the only person on the ship he was chummy with, was hold up on the bridge doing.... something important. He didnt like to bother her when she had her game face on.

He was in the form of a moderately sized aeroaquatic rodent commonly found in tropical forests. Sleek dark purple fur covered his body and tail. His four legs dangled as he flew through the halls with glee. This was his most whimsical form. It was often categorized by Reg as... cuddly. His name was Gordon. His tongue hung out of his mouth while he twirled in the air. Wishing he had something to do... anything.

Alexander

Alex jolted at the sound of the android's sudden outburst. He watched him storm out of the infirmary. Alex hesitated, wanting to help the...thing...but he specialized in organics not mechanics.

He relaxed back into his seat, letting his mind slide back to his books. He continued to listen to the conversation between the crew members. They were talking about weapons. Alex wasn't one for weapons. He could use a gun if he needed to, but he preferred to heal people not injure them.

His eyes locked on Minn, her bubbly form easing his mind for a brief moment before his slid back to his books. Focus Alex, she is clearly not interested.

Regina

Reggie had left the infirmary, trusting the the crew members would make sure to report any odd activity from Dlew. She was feeling antsy. She wanted to officially start this voyage. No more sudden stops. No more random malfunctions. The sooner they started heading through the systems, the better.

She could feel her knee buckling beneath her, but she ignored it. She wanted to walk, to move, to do something to keep her mind occupied. Where was Colin when you needed him?!

He was always good at distracting Reggie. She could always rely on him to keep her entertained, at least for the time being. Whether it was transforming into a large, bear-like creature and doing a funny dance, or just talking to her. She felt like she hadn't seen him in forever. Although, it was just a little while ago when they had docked at the academy.

She checked the time, and figured she would check and see if any recruits had shown up yet. Probably not, but Reggie couldn't help but hope. As she turned towards the elevator, she felt her knee buckle, but again ignored it and spotted a purple creature bouncing around the walls.

"Colin!" She called recognizing the cuddly form that was dubbed Gordon. She chased after him, hoping she wouldn't have to run.

A voice from behind stopped Colin in his tracks. He hovered in the air for a second, then spun happily to face the source. Reg was limping down the hall after him. He glanced to her leg. It was such a nuisance to her. If she was a metamorphite, she could just change into a different form, no more limping. Just like that. It didnt really matter how much he wanted to help her, there wasnt much he could do. He shook his head. Nevermind.

He wiggled his flexible body and flew to his captain. Just as he reached her he dropped to the ground onto two feet, as a human. He gave her a smile. "Yes captain?"

Reggie caught up to Colin who had already changed back into his human form. She smiled at him, and they both began walking to an unspecified location.

"Just wanted to talk." She said. "I feel like I haven't seen or talked to you in forever. Which is silly."

She chuckled quietly ignoring the pain in her leg. They walked in comfortable silence, not really needing to talk. They had walked the halls of the Nightwing so many times that, even though their course was unknown, it looked like they knew exactly where they were going.

They turned together around corners, not needing any verbal clues to convey the route.

"How do you like the crew?" Reggie asked shoving her hands into her pockets. "Oh, we should probably check the hangar, and see if any graduates showed up."

[Sorry, short post. Don't have as much time here today.]

Alexander

Alex was glad to be alone. He enjoyed the company of the crew members, but he found happiness in the silence of his thoughts. He flipped through a few pages of the medical book when he heard the doors to the infirmary slide open once again. Dlew entered, looking especially unhappy.

Alex tilted his head and leaned over to get a better view of the android from his desk. He had just come in to grab the bag he had left and than promptly left. The doctor simply moved back into a regular position in his chair, shaking his head.

This crew, was so strange. It didn't surprise him that Regina would find happiness with a crew as ignorant to injuries and proper medical attention as she was. Almost everyone she had hired were at least injuring themselves or had a horrible past that would make it difficult to properly function. It was all there in their records. Minerva's past with the nightclub she had once worked. Arc starving herself to the point of exhaustion. Even Dlew, who MAK had done a background check on.

Alex felt that his issues barely shed light on the shadows the others had cast. He just wanted to be different.

Sighing, the doctor stood, cracking his back. "MAK, call the Captain. I would like to speak with her."

"Right away."

Regina

Reggie and Colin were making their way to the hangar, their usual banter bouncing off the walls. "Captain, Dr. Greenhaven would like to speak with you in the infirmary."

Reggie looked up towards the ceiling, a habit she would always do when speaking with MAK. "In what regards?"

"I did not ask."

Reggie made a noise in the back of her throat as she placed her hands on her hips. "Continue on to the hangar," She said to Colin. "See if any graduates have arrived. I'll be there shortly."

She walked off, back towards the infirmary. She could feel her leg twisting uncomfortably beneath her. It was definitely due for a check up, probably a complete replacement. Maybe she would have the doctor take a look while she was down there. Thinking it over, she decided maybe Saein would be better. She was the mechanic, and Reggie's leg had been replaced with android parts. It was why she was so good at operating on androids, she had to fix loose parts before.

She finally made it to the infirmary and was shocked to see the doctor alone. "Where did everyone go?"

"That's what I want to talk to you about..." Alex began, his hands slipping into his jean pockets. "Saein is fine, but she had an awkward side effect to the drug I had given her. She may have said a few things to upset Minn..."

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't hear exactly, but Minn rushed out pretty fast, something about washing the dishes, but there was definitely something on her mind." Alex said recalling the way Minn had practically ran out. Dishes couldn't be that important. "Saein and Eddie went after her; I'm assuming everything is alright."

"What makes you think something would be wrong?" Reggie asked.

Alex walked over behind his desk, running a hand through his spiky hair. "It's...her past." He explained lifting a small folder with Minn's picture paperclipped to the side. "I cannot relay the details, doctor-patient confidential, but it wasn't good. She has maintained an innocent mindset...somehow...but I fear that Eddie's and Saein's confidence will overwhelm her. Both have expressed...feelings...for her; even if Minn hasn't seen it. Anyone else can."

Reggie nodded, recalling the behavior they both showed towards the pink alien while in the kitchens. "Thank you for informing me. I'll be sure to talk with them. Perhaps Minn as well. I don't want her to get too overwhelmed and want to leave. She seems to really enjoy it here."

Alex nodded. "It would be...most...unfortunate."

Reggie tilted her head at the remark. She could see it, the glint in his eyes and the blush spreading across his cheeks. "Most unfortunate indeed. The same goes for you, doctor. Don't overwhelm her."

Alex made a noise in protest, his blush spreading quicker. "I-I'm...there's also the matter of Dlew."

Reggie perked up at the mention of the android. "What about him? Has he awoken? Is he alright?"

"Everything is fine. He had an...outburst." Alex explained sitting back down in his desk chair. "I didn't hear all of it, but he stormed off afterwards and completely disappeared. He is supposed to be in charge of MAK, and although, I don't question your decision to do so, Dlew has a very harsh past. And it may come back and harm us in the end."

Reggie nodded again, making another sound of agreement. "Thank you for bringing this all up to me." She said. "It's definitely something to take into consideration. I will definitely speak with the crew members in question."

Alex thanked her and bid her farewell. Reggie shook her head as she walked down the halls towards the elevators to the hangar.

Regina

After leaving the infirmary, Reggie stood in the hallway trying to decide which way she wanted to go first. Discussing these matters with her crew were very important, but she had to meet the graduates. She glanced over towards the hangar, her first impression should be a good one. But then turned to looked towards where the kitchens were. According to MAK, that's where they were. Her duty as a Captain was strong; her responsibilities to her crew were very important to her.

But it would have to wait.

Her crew was capable. And she knew that her crew could handle maybe an hour without her. At least she hoped. She turned and made her way to the hangar elevators. Her leg buckled beneath her and Reggie had to stop and realign her leg. She pressed her palm to the wall and put pressure on her leg until she felt a POP. She sighed, the relief outweighing the pain.

She waited until she could walk properly before making her way to the hangar once again. It felt nice to walk straight, to not have to limp her way down the hall. She felt like she was taller, her back straight and shoulders back. It was like she had transformed into a different person, just by popping her knee back into place.

Reggie finally arrived in the hangar and was almost too pleased to see the amount of graduates waiting on her ship. She had to resist the urge to clap with excitement. "Wow," She said stepping up to Colin. He was assessing the graduates, his arms crossed over his chest. "They really expanded the race of recruits." Reggie commented.

The IDA used to be a human exclusive school until many alien races petitioned to make it a galactic school. Every recruit had to pass the entrance exams to get in, but any race was welcome now. Reggie made note of all the several races, before finally stepping forward.

"Welcome to the Nightwing," She called. "I'll be your captain, Captain Oris. All of you will address me as such. Unless I really like you, and I will allow you to call me Regina." The group laughed, and Reggie couldn't help but smile.

"We'll be going on a very important mission. We will be making several ports before leaving the outer rim of the charted universe. The planet we are traveling to is unknown, but we have reason to believe that it is Earth. The lost home planet of the human race. Although, some of you are not human, your skills and knowledge will be helpful on this journey. If you wish to stay, please, follow my second in command, Colin, to the barracks."

She turned to Colin and smiled. "He will give you a tour of the ship." She turned back to the graduates. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to speak with the other members of my crew. I hope you will all enjoy your time here."
